The Caravelle
2008-03-07 08:08:00
The Caravelle was France’s first and the world’s third jet powered airliner to enter service. This jet pioneered the rear fuselage pod-mounted engine design, in an effort to reduce cabin noise. The Caravelle was made to fulfil a requirement from the French Secretariat General of Commercial and Civil Aviation for an aircraft capable of operating between France and her dependancies in North Africa. Specifically the aircraft would have to be able to carry a payload of 7000kg over a range of 1600-2000 km at a speed of 620 kph SNCASE (latterly Sud Aviation, before subsequently merging with Aerospatiale) initially produced a tri-jet design designated X210, seating 65/90 passengers and powered by SNECMA Atar turbojets before settling on a twin-jet design powered by two Rolls Royce Avon’s. I'm BAAAACK!
2008-03-05 07:18:00
The Tamiflu is a miracle drug! I started to come out of the coma yesterday late afternoon and by the time I awoke this morning I feel 100% better. Not completely back to "normal" yet but I can at least function today. Good thing since we got dumped on last night with a 7" snowfall and I need to go to the grocery and get a few staples today. "Marlene" has been no help at all, as I lay dying in my death bed she continued maintaining her relationship with the bottle with no regard to my needs (Juice, soup, water etc....) I think she was hoping I would expire so she could gain access to my Xanax and my 40" LCD HD flat panel. The bitch!

The Flu Epidemic
2008-03-03 06:58:00
I have been hit hard by the flu that is going around and it has kicked my ass! I just finished a 4 day trip on friday and I am sure I was exposed to it by one of the passengers. I am a germ freak and constantly wash my hands and never touch my face when I am flying. I am a mess, I have a sore throat, my temperature ranges from 100 to 102.5. This started saturday night with a cough and by yesterday was in full swing. I am either freezing or burning up and every muscle and hair follicle aches. No appetite and no energy at all. It was an effort just to shower yesterday. I am going to call my Doctor this am and see if he will call in a RX for Tamiflu. Will update when I feel better.

2008-03-01 07:03:00
On the trip I just got off of, we were flying into New York and prior to boarding we were informed by the gate agents that we had a VIP on board. Usually this is a warning they are going to be a handful. Well it turns out it was super model Iman, wife of David Bowie. She pre boarded with her personal assistants who were seated in coach. She was in first class of course. She was stunning and quite nice to everyone. She brought her own yogurt with her and asked for a spoon and ate it during boarding. After we were airborne a meal was served and she opted for the Southwest chicken salad and just ate the chicken off the salad. Then the remainder of the flight she read her People magazine and another tabloid celebrity magazine. Maybe she was looking for a story about her, who knows I didn't th

The DeHavilland Comet
2008-02-27 07:52:00
I had a Columbus layover the other night and the next morning when we were taxing out for takeoff there was an old Comet sitting next to the airfield. Here is a little bit about the history of the "Comet"When the first de Havilland Comet took off from London for Johannesburg on May 2, 1952, it seemed as if Britain had produced a nearly insurmountable lead in aircraft development. Although American planes such as the Lockheed Constellation, the Douglas Aircraft DC-6 and the Boeing Stratocruiser were in wide use, these planes were powered by piston engines. The Comet was different. It was the world's first jetliner.Until the Comet's arrival, jet engines had only been used to power small fighter aircraft during World War II. Many thought jet engines wouldn't be economically viable on a commer

My "Cushy Job"
2008-03-09 08:09:00
AOL ran an article on the 10 cushiestjobs and the Ms. Lorenz called a flight attendants job "cushy", hencethe following letter. Within minutes after writing the letter her careerarticle was off of AOL's webpage. This is such a perfect description of our job (I'd love to know who wrote this!) ..........and unless you walk the walk and talk the talk, you know nothing! Dear Ms. Lorenz, I have been a Flight Attendant for 33 years. I am so enraged at your notionthat my job is 'cushy' that I am shaking as I write this email.Do you know how tiresome it is to travel through the process of the TSA at anairport? Imagine starting every work day with the same scrutiny..as if youintend to do nothing but bring harm to your customers and fellow coworkers. Inother words, begin every working day treat
