The first phase allows the body`s cleansing of toxins and the second is of stabilization. The diet has three meals per day. 2007-11-13 10:40:16
Coffee may have benefic effects because it contains high amounts of antioxidants and can reduce the risk of certain diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, inflammation, or Parkinson`s disease. However, coffee may also have side effects. Due to the antioxidant properties of coffee, the risk of cardiovascular disease and inflammation can be decreased for women who drink coffee, according to a recent study. The regular coffee consumption, especially decaffeinated coffee, may lower the risk of having Type 2 diabetes. Older women who consumed coffee throughout their life appeared to have better memory and cognitive skills. Caffeine may have a key role in preserving their cognitive skills, showed the study. Small amounts of caffeine may reduce the risk of Parkinson`s disease for women who followed a therapy with postmenopausal hormone, according to the study. Moderate-to-high levels of caffeine may decrease the risk of Parkinson`s disease for women who did not follow a hormone th

Weight Loss Drugs: Are They Sufficient?
2007-10-24 10:32:22
Weight loss drugs combined with a regular workout and a low-calorie diet may produce significant weight loss for obese people. The effect of weight loss drugs is to make people feel fuller after eating a small portion of food. These drugs are recommended for obese people only and should be taken only under medical supervision. The FDA approved appetite-suppressant medications such as phentermine and sibutramine for obese people who want to lose weight. Appetite-suppressants decrease the appetite by impacting the brain chemicals that control it. For instance, Orlistat, is a lipase inhibitor that blocks the breaking down of dietary fat. When this happens, the body takes in fewer calories. Drugs that contain metformin are usually used to treat diabetes may help obese people with Type II diabetes lose small amounts of weight. People have different experiences with weight-loss medications. Some register weight loss up to twenty-two pounds in a period of six months while others may experienc

Anabolizant Steroids: Are They Worth Taking?
2007-10-22 12:47:13
Many young people take anabolizant steroids to obtain a fast increase of their muscular mass, but is this the best choice? Even if the desired results show up, they might last for a short period, and the side effects are a matter of concern. Some of the substances used for doping are analgesics, narcotics, androgen anabolizant steroids, corticosteroids, substances that stimulate the central nervous system, diuretics, or peptide hormones. However, the androgen anabolizant steroids raise the greatest interest in the market. Androgen steroids have some negative effects on men and women who use them for muscular mass increase. Anabolizant steroids may produce long-term side effects for different organs or sometimes even lead to behavioral changes for those who use them. Use Physical Activity to Fight Depression
2007-10-22 12:40:50
Physical activity can increase your energy, make you sleep better, and bring a brighten mood. Physical activity cannot replace therapy or medical care for depression but it can make you feel better and self-confident. People who have depression are dealing with fatigue, motivation problems, or lack of energy. The key is to get started. Be patient with yourself, and try not to see the exercise program as a burden. You can get the same fitness benefit if you break your exercise program into smaller pieces throughout the day. Practice regularly and choose only physical activities that you enjoy, so you can stick to your plan. There`s no need to push yourself too much. Studies showed that it`s more likely for your mood to be improved by moderate exercise than excessively workouts. Choose aerobic activities like biking, brisk walking, swimming, or jogging. Stretching or lifting weights are also benefic. If you are a sedentary person, take it step by step. A good place for you to start may b

Run for Your Health!
2007-10-22 12:36:17
If you plan to lose weight, running is a great way to burn some calories. While you`re running your body burns about one hundred calories per mile. Running is a benefic activity for anyone, regardless of the fitness level or age. First of all, make time in your schedule for this kind of workout. For beginners, twenty minutes a day, three times a week should be enough. If you consider this too much, take walking breaks. For example, start by running for four minutes and walk for one minute. As your resistance increases you could give up the walking breaks or even increase the time spent running. You don`t have to be concerned about the equipment. Running requires only a pair of running shoes (not tennis, walking, or cross-training shoes), a digital sports watch, a well-fitted sports bra for ladies, and a heart-rate monitor that helps you maintain the effort at a normal level. If you don`t know how hard you should work, the “talk test” may help. Your pace is good while you can hold a

The “Negative Calories” Diet
2007-10-22 12:28:09
The “negative calories” diet seems to be helpful when the regular diet can no longer be followed. No food has zero calories, however this diet is supposed to help the organism produce more enzymes than necessary to separate the calories in the food. For example, when it comes to eating an apple which contains about fifty calories, the number of calories burned in excess is approximately twenty-five. This number is different from one person to another. Some of the foods allowed during this diet include: Animal proteins: any kind of lean meat, hard-boiled eggs, non-fat milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, soft cow cheese. Vegetable proteins: green vegetables (broccoli, cucumber, cauliflower, green bean, turnip cabbage, radishes, spinach, asparagus, celery, garlic or cabbage), red beetroot, tomatoes, carrots, onion. Fresh fruit are always good: pineapple, strawberry, grapefruit, lemon, mango, apple, peach, orange, raspberry, papaya, and kiwi. Avoid nuts, hazelnuts, or chestnuts. Glucides: on

Five Diets for Losing Weight
2007-10-22 12:11:16
Here are five diets based on low-calorie consumption that could help losing weight. The low fat diet is useful as long as the consumer understands that fats are necessary for the absorbtion of vitamins A, D, E, K, calcium, and hormone production. A balance between the amount of fat and calories from carbohydrates should be maintained. Therefore, if the fat quantity increases, the amount of calories from carbohydrates should decrease. The low fat diet should include cold cereals with milk, fruits, toast, cottage cheese, cheesy pita chips, and chicken breast sandwich with salad, rice pilaf, beef and pepper sauté. The high-fiber diet is popular because of the benefit that vitamin B provides. This diet does not refer to the cereal bars that many people grab in the morning on their way out. People should consume cereals with nonfat milk, wheat germ or fruits, low-fat cheese, whole wheat crackers, rice pilaf next to beef and pepper sauté, carrots, fruits, and crunchy tuna salad. The low-ch

Binge Eating Disorder: How Can You Fight It?
2007-11-26 12:18:10
Binge eating means that you eat more than you should and cannot control yourself. Eating a lot, in itself, does not mean you have a binge eating disorder, although most people suffering from binge eating have problems with how much and how often they eat. The binge eating disorder is the most common eating disorder. Both obese and normal-weight people may suffer from this disorder, but the cases of overweight people with binge eating disorders are more numerous. Binge eating occurs more frequently with women than men. Researchers have not found, so far, the causes of binge eating disorders. Almost half of the people with this problem suffer, or have suffered in the past, from depression. Whether binge eating disorders may be caused by depression or not isn`t known yet. The binge eating disorder appears when people eat a lot, even if they are not hungry, until they feel uncomfortably full. This type of eating disorder makes people eat more quickly than usually, and by themselves, becaus

2007-12-06 08:02:45

The specific foods that must be avoided by people with this blood type are oranges, avocados, and Brazil nuts. People with A-type blood should not eat red meat. Fish, vegetables, and a low dairy intake are allowed. These people should also do only light exercises. Blood type “B” people should eat plenty of meat, dairy food, fruits, vegetables, and some fish. People with this blood type should avoid bacon and chicken. People with AB-type blood should combine the diets from A- and B-types blood. A sample diet specific to A-type blood: Breakfast should include grapefruit juice, coffee, herbal tea, water with lemon, or oatmeal with soy milk. Soft Drinks Not So Soft When It Comes to Gaining Weight
2007-12-13 08:27:40
Soft drink consumption results in increased calorie intake, and reduces the consumption of fruits and milk, showed a recent study. Also, consumers of soft drinks have an increased risk of Type 2 diabetes, according to the same study. Soft drinks are one of the main factors that lead to obesity, although not the only one, according to existing data, stated study's co-author Kelly Brownell. Sodas have other effects beside satisfying thirst. Soft drinks may increase hunger and make people crave for other foods because of their high level of sweetness. Researchers noticed that the calorie intake is actually greater than the amount of calories from soda, because the soft drinks makes people eat more. Soft drinks consumption is also responsible for lower intakes of calcium, fiber, fruits, and milk, showed the study. Soda consumption is strongly connected with Type 2 diabetes, study proved. The risk to develop diabetes is twice as big for women who consume one or more sodas per day, than th
