Giggles for the Day
2007-11-15 00:58:52
This has been another one of those weeks where I’ve had a lot on my mind.  My daughter is still not feeling 100%, and my mother told me last night that she will have to have surgery on her hip very soon, and, I paid bills today.  An activity that always sinks me in a suffocating pit of darkness.  So, after a long phone conversation with my mother discussing stages of pre- and post-surgery care, and a time coaxing my 4 year old to go to sleep, I sat down at my computer to find something entertaining.  I’ve been spending a lot of free time lately working on building/maintaining my blogs and I needed a break from the “work” aspect and wanted to surf the World Wide Web for laughs.  I haven’t laughed too much over the past several years, in fact, I’ve even quit watching sticoms on TV.  I just didn’t find them funny anymore.  But tonight, I decided to utilize the internet for something different…  I needed some good, clean content to

What would you change?
2007-11-10 23:24:58
Last month, I made a remark to a friend in an email that prompted her to ask “OKAY NOW ASK YOURSELF, WHAT CAN YOU DO TO CHANGE THE PARTS OF YOUR LIFE YOU HATE…( THIS CAN NOT INVOLVE MURDER ) ;)”.  Hmmmm, so this could be a loaded answer for anyone looking in, but I thought it was an answer worth including in my blog.  Even though I told my friend “don’t tell anybody, but I woke up [this morning] telling myself, I hate my life.” Things I would like to change about my life…  glorified pooper scooper, pain in my foot, my exhaustion, my job…   some things about Leah that drive me crazy…  the money situation…  I’m working on the potty training, but she has gotten very dependent on me.  She cries if I don’t help her pull her pants up, and I have to be mean about it and make her do it herself.  Even though I know she can do it by herself because she does it at school and day care.  But since I&rsqu

A Day to Remember - Part 1
2007-11-01 21:25:14
In the early morning light, filtering through the shade, Dacey wearily opened her eyes.  She was not looking forward to getting out of bed on this particular day.  It wasn’t really a day of special importance, but it was uncharacteristic of her not to hop out of the bed before the dawn, with a smile on her face and a song in her heart.  She gave a half-hearted stretch, rolling from her side to her back and peeped at the clock.  Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, she pushed up in a sitting position, and hung her head.  Her long, auburn hair fell forward across her shoulders and she impatiently pushed the strands back behind her right ear.   Dacey enjoyed her life.  She had a fantastic job, earning a good wage, and her co-workers were pleasant.  She did not have a steady relationship with any one man, but she occasionally enjoyed an evening of dinner and a movie with friends.  Divorced long ago, with a grown son, Dacey had settled in her mind that she was not in t

Flowers
2007-10-31 21:03:05
I am in my 9th day after surgery on my foot to remove a heel spur.  I’m still in a good deal of pain.  I’m getting tired of limping, which I’ve been doing for almost a year now.  I’m also getting tired of sponge baths.  I received a bouquet of flowers from my co-workers.  I know they are missing me.  They aren’t used to me being out for so long. The flowers are beautiful.  Thank you, my friends, they brightened my day.   Posted 2007-10-31 10:03:05 pm

Never Apologize
2007-09-26 14:46:40
Never Apologize… Never apologize for pursuing what makes you happy.  Even if you need to quit your job, or move across country, always do what you really want. Never apologize for giving your best in a relationship that just didn’t work out. Never apologize for being successful.  Only selfish people want to keep you at their level. Never apologize for crying.  Wear waterproof mascara or use a tissue and express yourself. Never apologize for being frugal.  Just because you save your money instead of blowing it on the latest fashion emergency doesn’t mean you’re cheap. Never apologize for being a single mom.  Babies are a blessing. Never apologize for treating yourself to something special.  Sometimes you have to show yourself some appreciation. Never apologize for leaving an abusive relationship.  Your safety should always be a priority. Never apologize for keeping the ring even if wedding bells won’t chime. Never apologize for setting high standards i

Giving Thanks…
2007-11-24 14:36:26
I’m a little late posting what I’m thankful for.  I spent Thanks giving at my aunt’s house without internet and I wanted to wait until I got back home.  This week has been like all the other past weeks, and I’ve really had difficulty with the idea of even wanting to give thanks.  But I do have things to be grateful for, and I know it helps to verbalize them and giving praises to God.  1.  I’m thankful for one more year to enjoy my mother’s home cooking.  I’m afraid this may be her last time to cook holiday meals.  She has spent the last several years taking care of family, but she really needs to slow down.  I may have to work on my cooking skills before Christmas to make us a palatable meal.  2.  I’m thankful my son came to share our Thanksgiving meal.  My daughter, Leah Rose, adores her big brother and that made the day very special for her, even though it was only for a short time.  3.  I’m thankful I have leftov

My Holiday Decorating - Stage 1
2007-11-28 20:23:27
I started decorating my home for Christmas this week.  I bought the Santa windsock at Walmart for about a $1.  The wind has been blowing a lot lately, and I thought Leah Rose would enjoy seeing this blowing in the wind.  I temporarily put it on the mini flag pole.  I’ve got some other yard decorations that I’m going to put up later this week and I can add that and it will look better. The wreath on the front door turned out very pretty.  This is a battery operated pre-lit wreath.  I took the first picture in the daylight, and the second picture after dark with the flash.  I tried to take a picture of it without the flash, but I couldn’t hold the camera still.  I’ll have to try that later with the tripod and timer.  I’m probably going to add a flood light positioned to illuminate the front door.  I don’t know how well that will look with the lights on the wreath, but I may alternate the lights every couple of days. It took a couple

Friday’s Feast #171
2007-12-07 10:11:52
Friday s Feast #171 Appetizer What was the last game you purchased? Candyland Soup Name something in which you don’t believe. I don’t believe in true, romantic, old fashioned love anymore. Salad If you could choose a celebrity to be your boss, who would you pick? Tom Hanks Main Course What was a lesson you had to learn the hard way? Never trust someone who says “trust me”. Dessert Describe your idea of the perfect relaxation room. A Florida room looking out over the beach, with windows open so you can hear the water rolling in and out over the sand.  Lots of green plants, with soft comfortable lounge chairs.  Maybe a little soft jazz music or soundscape music playing.  No phone, no TV.

Tuesday Twosome
2007-12-03 23:58:18
Winter Wonderland… 1.  What two things do you “have” to wear when it is chilly/cold outside? a coat and gloves 2.  What are two good things about wintry weather? hot chocolate with marshmallows and warm fuzzy blankets 3.  What two things do you really dislike about wintry weather? the wind and chapped lips 4.  On average, how cold does it get in your city/town and how long does the cold weather last? the average low is about 35-37 degrees, and those temps only last from about December to February 5.  Would you rather be stuck at home because of a blizzard or flooding? a blizzard… flooding is a terrible thing to go through.  I’ve never actually been stuck at home because of a blizzard, but it has snowed a few times during my lifetime, but didn’t stick.  In 1994, Tropical Storm Alberto dumped 24″ inches of rain in our area.  Macon was one of the cities that was hit the hardest.  I went through Hurricane Ivan in Pensacola in 2004

By the Way Sunday…
2007-12-02 20:18:14
~’Tis the Season Once Again~ By the way&hellip ; Are you participating in any holiday festivities today? I did not participate in any festivities today, other than watching Christmas movies on TV.  Yesterday, I did go to a church holiday dinner and it was a very enjoyable time.  I spent time with old friends that I haven’t been around for more than 10 years. Do you enjoy listening to holiday music? I have enjoyed listening to holiday music this year.  There has been a local radio station that has been playing holiday music since the week before Thanksgiving, and it has been very pleasant. Is your tree up and decorated? Any gifts under it yet? Our tree is not up yet, but I’m hoping to put it up this week.  I’m not planning on putting any presents under it until right before Christmas.  I don’t think my 4 year old will be able to control herself if I set the presents out.  This is the year that she has discovered “presents”. My Holiday Decorating - Stage 2
2007-12-01 22:23:07
We finished more Christmas decorating.  I put the pre-lit swag up over the door yesterday, and it looks very lovely.  The rest of the yard decorations we put up this morning. Leah Rose loves Mr. Snowman. This little wreath turned out nice.  It wasn’t very expensive and I put one up on each side of the garage door.  I think they do need bows though.  I still haven’t unpacked all our Christmas stuff yet, so I may have some to put up without going to buy more. I was heartsick later in the day.  When we went out to take these pictures, my lamp with the flag fell over and broke the globe off on the top.  I should have made sure it was more bottom heavy and that it wouldn’t tip over.  I think I can tape the globe back on with some black electrical tape, and then put some bricks around the base.  That will be my project for tomorrow, along with getting ready to put up the Christmas tree.  I’m still debating on putting the tree up while Leah Rose i
