WYDU Classics May 08 2008-05-22 07:53:00 I realized tonight that I hadn't yet posted up a WYDU Classics
for the month of May. I haven't missed a month for two years, can't start now. I had originally meant to go with some kind of theme similar to last months dis tracks, but I got kind of side tracked in the early part of the month and didn't feel like hammering out some kind of theme and piece together tracks tonight. So what you get
Interview with Inverse 2008-05-21 08:54:00 Whattup world? The Clapster is back, it's been a while, the Soul Occs diary didn't work out, there's just too much to do, we got the show with eMC, Torae and Marco Polo coming up on monday and are still recording the album. But that's another thing.
I sat down and did an interview with Inverse
, some of y'all might remember that I posted their free download album "So far" back in january. I
New Artist Spotlight: Donny Goines 2008-05-23 07:20:00 Some artists realize that the internet is an important tool in ones arsenal to get their music heard. It's an important part of the game that you have to have some kind of a exsistence in, no matter what your thoughts are on concerning the world wide web. One such artist has learned how to grab the situation and all of it's perks and run with it. NYC emcee Donny

Interview With A Blogger V : The Dart Board 2008-05-26 13:29:00 You thought it was over. You thought it was all done. Well you were wrong! After a half year hiatis, we here at WYDU track down your favorite bloggers and ask them seemingly ridiculous questions and pester them until they tell us to either go listen to Gerardo for the rest of our lives or they answer our silly questions just to shut us up.

This Or That.....Ammerikkka's Most Wanted Vs. Death Certificate 2008-05-27 07:29:00 We all have our personal opinions when it comes to hip hop albums. An album I might term "classic", the next man might think is garbage. You can have some heated discussions when it comes to discussing hip hop in general, as my man J-Zone says, three things you don't discuss in public: religion, politics and hip hop. But to me, that is the beauty of it all, discussing hip hop and being a pseudo Read more: Certificate
Imeem Presents: The Evolution of Murs 2008-05-29 17:18:00 I'm taking a gamble on this because I haven't watched this yet, but it sounded interesting (I'm not able to watch it at this moment). For all you Murs fans, here ya go!

Sample Sample volume four 2008-05-29 07:24:00 It’s been some time now since I’ve hit you for the last time with the sample sample series, I took a quick look at the first compilation and wondered why I didn’t include “the funky miracle” since back then this was the first track I was talking about…
So here’s part 4, again including some “obscure” joints and some better known stuff but everything is pretty much classic be it Read more: Sample
One Be Lo the Young & Restless when They Come In All Colors with Something To Get You Hyped 2008-05-28 13:05:00 Nothing really extravagant happening today other than some re-ups and requests. There are probably more, but these are just a couple from the past couple days. If you have a request or something you want re-upped, hit me up on the c-box or my email and I'll be glad to see what I can do.

Spins, Tracks, & Thoughts For The Week 2008-05-30 07:48:00 WYDU just recently went over 500 posts. I was going to do something special for the 500 posts milestone, but in all honesty with some "extracurricular" activities going on in my life and the holiday weekend this past weekend, I spaced it off. I guess I'll save my idea for The Daughter's three year birthday. But looking back at the sheer number of "500 posts", it kind of boggles my mind. Obviously Read more: Spins
New Video from eMC, The Smile Rays Winner, and an Interview with some blogger dude 2008-05-31 13:22:00 Happy Saturday all, I'm breaking my rule of not posting on the weekends, but rest assured I'm not putting all that much effort into it...

The next single from eMC's The Show is out along with the video. "Leak It Out", one of my favorites from the album, has a video out.

No title 2008-06-03 05:30:00 Only time I’ve written for WYDU this year it was a ‘last year hits you may or may not have missed sort of thingy’. The lack of Hugo-posts doesn’t really matter though ‘cause Travis and the crew holds it down with quality posts daily. Daily as for real great posts every single day. That’s amazing. That’s knowledge people. WYDU is like the wikipedia for hip hop right now, only with a w

It was actually closer than I anticipated, with Death Certificate taking it with 60% to 40%. As I said, I thought Death Certificate would take it, but it was closer than I thought it would be. The Amerikkka's Most Wanted supporters made a good case, especially WYDU's own Brian and longtime visitor Benovite. As I've mentioned, I love Amerikkka's Most Wanted, and I'd call it a " Read more: Marauders

The Soul Occs, Live with eMC 2008-06-04 06:00:00 On may 26th, we had our first show together. The legendary first Soul Occs show. We had some technical difficulties in the beginning cause our Torq system wasn't working right, then it didn't work at all. Good that I had a backup, I brought some blank cd's and the guy at the show had a cd turntable, which disgusted me a little, but it was cool. Better than nothing.

Throwback Wednesdays aka The Re-Run: The Daughter Goes Live 2008-06-04 23:54:00 I've got more shit on my plate than a fat man at an all you can eat buffet. For today's post, I'm reaching back into the Daughter
's archives and going with not one, but four individual posts that we did back in October of 2006. For those you that have been down and checking WYDU since then, sorry, but I'm sure there are enough cats that weren't around during those times that it'll be something Read more: Throwback

New Artist Spotlight: Lex 2008-06-06 08:15:00 There is one site that is predominately responsible for the birth of WYDU. Mastaace.com is where five of the contributors for this site met, including myself and the other co-found, Polarity. In all honesty, I pretty much despise message boards. I may lurk around them, but I don't post on them very much. MA.com is the only place I've posted on a regular basis. It's also been the home for some Read more: Artist

This Or That.....It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back Vs. Fear of a Black Planet 2008-06-10 00:14:00 Last Week
What a battle we had last week between Midnight Marauders and Low End Theory! Both albums swapped spots numerous times throughout the week and neither album got down by more than seven votes or so. In the end, in a decision that was as close as it could be without a tie, Low End Theory won out by one vote 90-89. I honestly expected Midnight Marauders to win it, so it was somewhat of a Read more: Black
Used CD Shopping Trip Part One (June 7th): The Daughter On the Road in Salt Lake City 2008-06-11 20:21:00 I don't hide what I think of Salt Lake
City. I despise the place, plain and simple. It's dirty, there is a strong religious influence, and it's one that I don't necessarily agree with or fit in with very well. A large portion of the city is unfriendly and down right rude. Try driving around "Suck Lake", you will quickly see what I mean. I spent four rather miserable years in the city while I went Read more: Shopping

It's Kanweezy!!!! 2008-06-11 23:06:00 The boys over at Metal Lungies did a beat drop this week. If you haven't seen one of their beat drops before, give yourself a quick smack then head on over there. Their beat drops are one of those things I get envious of for not thinking of first. The crew of them get together and pick their favorite beats from a said producer (something that would never work here....) and then sometimes, they
