New Years Resolutions
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Well it's Jan 2nd 2007 the Christmas and New Year annual weight gain program is over; once again I have successfully eaten and drunk my way though 2 months worth in 10 days. I am actually glad to be back at work so I can stop enjoying myself! Sure that will change by Friday. I though it would be fun to keep a diary of this years golf ups and downs; nothing serious just a sideways look at what happens and how often I stand there swearing as another Pro V sails over the cliff. So we are in 2007 the Golf Clubs Centenary year; boy what a year this is going to be from all the snippets of info floating around the club. After a barren year in 2006; not a single place in a club major, 2007 has to be better, positive mental attitude remember golf is 90% mental, I am sure I am not alone in looking forward to the events in 2007. Though after the week we have just had I would of needed led boots and an aqualung to play through the wind and rain. The only bright light on is the success in the win

A little background
1970-01-01 00:59:59
For those who have never played Nefyn I thought I would give you a little background to the course; a fuller description can be found at www.nefyn-golf-club.co.uk.As I have said it's our centenary year so you can guess the club was founded in 1907, originally a 9 hole course it has grown to the current 27 holes know as the "old Course" and "New Course". The configured in one loop of 10 holes and two loops of 8 to make tow 18 hole golf courses. The back 8 holes offer their own unique challenge to every level of golfer especially if you have a breeze blowing when you play, which is more often than not. The Old Course back 8 extends along the point and is considered by many the signature part of course. It is tight and demands accurate shot making to score well; there are many cliffs to grab a way ward shot; when you come and play Nefyn it is the part of the course you must play. You will enjoy the views even if the course wins the battle. The New course while giving you a littl

wet January weekend 6/7th Jan
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Saturday morning at 8.20 there we were standing in front of the Pro's shop with the rain coming down. It had eased off to what it was a 7.30 but it was still persistent and wet! We were not alone the usual early morning guys were there debating whether or not to risk it. The weather man had said it would clear by 11.00am so what to do?A few brave soles donned their waterproofs and trudged on the first tee to play their winter singles knock outs and winter league cards. Off they went into the rain and gloom. Me I slopped off into the club house for a coffee and game of snooker to give the weather a little more time to sort it's self out. Which it did after about 45 minuets! So off we went in a 3 ball Rob, John (My Dad) and me down the first with it still raining. Which it continued to do until about 11.00 , unusual that! the weather man getting it right, when it was just as if some one a flicked a switch and we had blue skies and sun. Don't you juts love the weather in this country

Fair weather golfer! weekend 13/14th Jan
1970-01-01 00:59:59
"The greatest liar in the world is the golfer how claims he plays the game for merely exercise" Tommy BoltI am doubly cursed as a golfer and a Brit through my almost pathological fascination with the weather in the UK. Nearly every day I am looking; will I get to play at the weekend? The computer says NO! Well Saturday morning dawned, well got a little lighter, and it was not looking good. That super fine rain that gets you wetter than when it buckets down was being blown almost horizontal across the back garden. Ever the optimist of I went to the course; on arrival the rain had stopped, well almost, and after a brief check of sanity my golfing buddies, Dad and Rob, we declared ourselves mad and off we went for at least 9 holes. Buffeted and often rained on we played something similar but not quite like golf. Half of the course was closed due to the bad weather so we could only play 1,2,3,7,8,9,10 the old 11th and 18th . After a good dose of fresh air we came in after 9, at least

FW: Golf for all seasons
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Well we are deep into January and the weather seems to backing up all the scientists’ predictions re global warming. Once again I awake on the Saturday morning with the wind whistling around the house; not quite happy about the humming noise coming from the tiles! Not one to give up on a game of golf I headed up to the club to see if any golf was possible! Parked up attempted to open the car door, seems to be stuck! After a hard push it comes open; its not stuck the wind is that strong. I fight my way across the car park; I am not a small person but even I am having problems standing up! FORGET SATURDAY ! The only light in the dark was seeing I had come first and second respectively in the last two weeks winter league. On 20 points short of the leader “Will” might be able to catch him , HA who am I kidding ! So what of Sunday? The wind had dropped from 60mph to approximate 29mph, a mere breeze, so after a quick consultation we go out. We were not alone
