".It was very interesting to know that there is an organization based in Washington D.C. that is devoted to helping the WFP in its work to releave the world from hunger. They partner with the World Food Programme to raise funds, mobilize volunteers, and draw attention to global hunger and poverty. Once a month, they send out an electronic newsletter, Food for Thought, which highlights WFP’s current humanitarian relief activities, relevant news items, events from other humanitarian relief organizations, and pieces written by people who are in the field.They are reaching out to bloggers and asking them to post something on their blogs about their newsletter and encourage people to sign up for it. An internet word game has generated enough rice to feed 50,000 people for one day, the UN's World Food Programme (WFP) has said.The game, FreeRice, tests the vocabulary of participants. For each click on a correct answer, the website donates money to buy 10 grains of rice. Companies advertising on the website provide the money to the WFP to buy and distribute the rice. FreeRice went online in early October and has now raised 1bn grains of rice. Cake From Mars!!! 2007-12-02 05:37:00 Ingredients:3 eggs1 cup of sugar (you can also use the pot of yogurt as measure)1/2 cup of oil (sunflower or peanut)1 yogurt (natural)1 cup of mint syrup 4 cups of flour1 pinch of saltyeast (for pastry)chocolate (cooking chocolate. HERTZOGGIES! 2007-12-15 10:06:00 Some time ago I was challenge to do a pastry from South Africa called "Hertzoggies", here is the result...Ingredients:400ml flour5ml baking powder0.5ml salt150ml butter150ml sugar + 30ml sugar2 eggs + 2 eggs250ml coconutapricot jam (a 250ml jar)Pre-heat the oven to 180°C (350°F) - thermostat 5Sieve together flour, baking powder and saltCream the butter and add sugar. Mix until light and creamyAdd 2 eggs to the butter mixture and mix wellAdd little by little the flour mixture to the butter cream. Mix well with hands until you have a slippery dough (like a bread dough)Butter a cooking pan (about 22cm X 30cm)Spread dough until you have a rectanglePut dough on buttered cooking panSpread a thick layer of jam on the dough (all the jar)Mix the sugar with the coconutMix the remaining 2 eggs slightly and add it to the coconut/sugar mixSpread the mixture coconut mixture on top of the apricot jam/doughBake in oven for 20 minutesRemove from oven and allow to coolCut into squares (about 3cm X 3c
