Happy New Year! 1970-01-01 00:59:59 2007 is a big year for us. Not only is it the 20th anniversary of Management Recruiters of St. Charles, it also coincides with our move to a brand new building in downtown St. Charles. As fate would have it, our current offices are right in the center of the new St. Charles redevelopment plans, so we are slated to move in the next few months so they can tear down our building. It's still up in the air as to where we'll be headed, but we will definitely stay in the downtown area. Check out the project at http://www.1ststreetstc.org and help us get excited! Read more:Happy

We're In! 2007-03-27 21:12:00 We're finally settled in to our new place! The move went pretty smoothly, all things considered. The movers showed up on time, our phones work...Today was the first day we've had internet or email in a week, though, so everyone is pretty happy about that! All in all, I don't think anyone misses our old place. We're enjoying the perks of having a brand new, sparkling clean office after surviving in our quaint but very old farmhouse for nearly 8 years. Here is our new address (at least until this summer when we move again!)1607 East Main StreetUnit ASt. Charles, IL 60174Our phone number is the same: 630-377-6466
Famous Twice in One Week! 2007-03-29 17:35:00 Well, I woke up on my birthday (5 days ago) and found an article about me in the newspaper! Not a bad way to start out the day. Here is the full story, about our 20th anniversary and our big move to First Street in the Kane County Chronicle....Here's another article about us (though we aren't actually mentioned) on the FRONT PAGE of today's paper. What a great picture of our little house biting the dust! We missed it by about half an hour or so. It went down very quickly--by the time we got there it was a pile of blue rubble. The Evolution of Flex Time 2007-03-30 21:02:00 I read this great article on yahoo today about Best Buy's new business strategy- a workplace where workers don't really work. They've unveiled a new corporate environment, nicknamed "ROWE", which stands for "Results Only Work Environment". This idea rewards the work that gets done, not the hours employees put in. It's similar to flex time, but much more interesting. Employees can come in at 2 in the afternoon, leave at 3 if they want, but they are expected to work from home, or their fishing boat or wherever they go, in order to keep their productivity up. The hours "in office" are not tracked or important--as long as the work gets done. It's an interesting idea, and seems very appropriate to today's workers. Check out the article here. How to Reach Generation Y (and keep them happy) 2007-04-11 23:45:00 This new generation is tech savvy, meaning their words travel FAST! Blogs, IM, email, MySpace...The list of outlets goes on and on. How do you make sure they're not saying anything bad about you? And telling all their friends? And scaring away potential clients or candidates from your organization? If they post a message on their blog about how their experience with your company (or you, for that matter), it could reach hundreds of people within their network and influence not just their thoughts about you personally, but their willingness to do business with you. An article by John Wilson on ere.net examines this idea and offers suggestions for keeping the peace with these new powerhouses. Read more:Reach

College Recruiting 2007-05-03 16:34:00 While most of what we do at our company involves higher level executive or management positions, we do on occassion work with entry level opportunities. Usually, since our clients are paying us, these opportunities are often far better than the typical entry level positions offered to candidates with less experience. We are currently working on two entry level positions right now--one for a Quality Engineer and one for a Purchasing Manager, both with salaries in the 40ks. If you'd like more information, please visit our website at www.stcsearch.com.What baffles me is that some college career centers don't allow recruiters access to their new grads. Just the other day we wanted to recruit students from North Central College
in Naperville, IL, and they refused to allow us access to student resumes because we are a recruiting firm. While this borders on discrimination (considering their only basis for not allowing us access is what we do), it also seems unfair that these students are be
