Dick KozelkaEternal God,Creator of years, of centuries,Lord of whatever is beyond time,Maker of all species and master of all history --How shall we speak to youfrom our smallness and inconsequence?Except that you have called us to worship youin spirit and in truth; You have dignified us with loves and loyalties; You have lifted us up with your loving kindnesses. Therefore we are bold to come before you without groveling[though we sometimes feel that low]and without fear[though we are often anxious].We sing with spirit and pray with couragebecause you have dignified us;You have redeemed us from the aimlessnessof things' going meaninglessly well.God, lift the hearts of thosefor whom this holiday is not just diversion, but painful memory and continued deprivation.Bless those whose dear ones have diedneedlessly, wastefully [as it seems]in accident or misadventure. We remember with compassion those who have diedserving their countriesin the futility of combat. There is none of us but mu Read more:Memorial

Veterans Day Prayer 2007-11-06 08:16:00 Day is done, gone the sun, from the lakes,From the hills, from the sky, all is well,Safely rest, God is nigh. Fading light, dims the sight, And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright, From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night. Thanks and praises, for our days, Neath the stars, neath the sky,As we go, this we know, God is neigh.

WoodAlmighty God, Our Heavenly Father; Who art above us and beneath us, within and around us; Drive from our minds of our paratroops any fear of the space in which Thou art ever present. Give them confidence in the strength of Thine Everlasting arms to uphold them. Endure them with clear minds and pure hearts that they may participate worthily in the victory which this nation must achieve in Thy name through Thy will. Make them hardy soldiers of our country as well as of Thy Son, Our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Saint Anthony's Prayer for Wisdom 2007-11-06 01:55:00 Oh Light of the World, Infinite God, Father of Eternity, giver of Wisdom
and Knowledge, and ineffable dispenser of every Spiritual Grace; who knowest all things before they are made, who makest the darkness and the light; put forth Thy hand and touch my mouth, and make it as a sharp sword to utter eloquently Thy Words.Make my tongue, Oh Lord, as a chosen arrow, to declare faithfully Thy Wonders.Put Thy Spirit, Oh Lord, in my heart, that I may perceive; in my soul, that I may retain; and in my conscience, that I may meditate.Do thou lovingly, holily, mercifully, clemently and gently inspire me with Thy Grace. Do Thou teach, guide and strengthen the comings in and goings out of my senses and my thoughts. And let Thy discipline instruct me even to the end, and the Counsel of the Most High help me through Thy Infinite Wisdom and Mercy, Amen

Amen.O Father almighty, we thank you wholeheartedly for all the blessings and graces You have so generously given us then and now.O merciful Christ Jesus, wash away our sins with your most precious blood. Feel the beating of our hearts and make them like your own. Oh, dear Jesus, wipe away our tears and pardon us for our sinfulness. Be with us, O Lord, until our dying day that we may be worthy of your mercy and forgiveness.O Holy Spirit, our guide and inspiration, lead us to the right path. And if, on our way, we encounter difficulties and trials, do not allow us to fall or lose hope. Grant us the graces we need daily that we may also share our blessings with our fellowmen. A Prayer for National Election 2007-11-03 00:18:00 I found this prayer from the Catholic.Org but indicated in the site that the prayer was from National
Catholic Register. If you have time, you can visit the two sites. There are lots to discoverO God, we acknowledge you today as Lord, not only of individuals, but of nations and governments. We thank you for the privilege of being able to organize ourselves politically and of knowing that political loyalty does not have to mean disloyalty to you.We thank you for your law, which our founding fathers acknowledged and recognized as higher than any human law.We thank you for the opportunity that this election year puts before us, to exercise our solemn duty not only to vote, but to influence countless others to vote, and to vote correctly.Lord, we pray that your people may be awakened. Let them realize that while politics is not their salvation, their response to you requires that they be politically active.Awaken your people to know that they are not called to be a sect fleeing the world bu Read more:Election

Catholic Healing Prayer to Saint Peregrine 2007-11-02 05:19:00 O great St. Peregrine, you have been called "The Mighty," "The Wonder-Worker," because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you. (Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick for whom you are praying)Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy. Amen.

Venerable Brethren, Greetings and Apostolic Benediction.1. Ever since We were raised, by the design of Divine Providence, to the supreme Chair of Peter, We have never ceased, in the face of approaching evils, to entrust to the most powerful protection of the Mother of God the destiny of the human family, and, to this end, as you know, We have from time to time written letters of exhortation. 2. You know, Venerable Brethren, with what zeal and with what spontaneous and unanimous approval the Christian people everywhere have answered Our invitation. It has been magnificently testified many times by the great demonstration of faith and love towards the august Queen of Heaven, and above all, by that manifestation of universal joy which, last year, Our eyes had the ple

Prayer in Time of Bad Mood 2007-11-13 11:08:00 Heavenly Father, I woke up this morning in a bad mood and I have been unable to shake it off. Everything bothers me and everyone rubs me the wrong way. I just cannot seem to get my true bearings. Help me to think of your salvation, your countless gifts and overwhelming love for me. The Other Face of War 2007-11-13 00:56:00 I received an email last night about a heart-warming story of a soldier in Iraq... I don't know the soldier or his wife, but the message is clear. We should pray for all the soldiers at war... Here's the story from his wife...John Gebhardt's wife, Mindy, said that this little girl's entire family was executed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head...but they failed to kill her. She was cared for in John's hospital and is healing up, but continues to cry and moan. The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so John has spent the last four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair. The girl is coming along with her healing. He is a real Star of the war, and represents what the Western world is trying to do.This, my friends, is worth sharing with the WORLD! Go for it!!You'll never see things like this in the news. Please keep this going. Nothing will happen if you don't, but the public needs to see pi

A Thanksgiving Day Prayer 2007-11-13 00:26:00 O God,who has set us in a world of soaring beauty, and profound mystery. . .who has enclosed our years within the eternal contextof fragrant spring mornings, and sparkling winter nights. . .who has granted us, over the years, the lilt of lively companionship, the provocation of ideas and personalities, the sheer, clear point of joyin creating a thing of loveliness,or of excellence, the steady, solid support of friendships tried, and tested. . .we thank you.Above all we thank you,for the first flowing of conscience. We look back, and we recognize, in ourselves, the dawning of a conviction that life is not simplya random series of opportunities and disappointments. We look back, and we acknowledge that our life has been a gift,a gift to be accepted - savoured,a gift to be lived out, fully lived out between the twin poles of freedomand responsibility. And now we step forward in this freedom and this responsibility.,Free in the knowledge of how little is really essential.Responsible in the conviction o Read more:Prayer

Thanksgiving Day Prayer: Psalm 30 2007-11-13 00:22:00 "I will extol thee, O Lord, for thou hast drawn me up, and hast not let my foes rejoice over me. O Lord my God, I cried to thee for help, and thou hast healed me. O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol, restored me to life from among those gone down to the Pit.Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. As for me, I said in my prosperity, "I shall never be moved.' By thy favor, O Lord, thou hadst established me as a strong mountain; thou didst hide thy face, I was dismayed. To thee, O Lord, I cried; and to the Lord I made supplication; "What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise thee? Will it tell of thy faithfulness? Hear, O Lord, and be gracious to me! O Lord, be thou my helper!'Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; thou hast loosed my sackcloth and girded Read more:Prayer
