Freedoms Watch
2007-11-21 14:58:00
Here is the new site FreedomsWatch.org, which will apparently just launched and will watch your freedom for you while you go out to dinner at McDonald's. They are also responsible for the ad above to convince us that we have to keep invading countries to stop terrorism, regardless of logic and reason.Instead of the eagle as part of their logo, they should perhaps use a buzzard or several of them to symbolize what will be circling around the dead bodies that foreign policies they support will create.

Fun With Dick and George
2007-11-21 09:31:00
Adding to the long list of former Bush staffers who admit to wrongdoing long after the damage has been done, Scott McClellan, former White House spokesman, wrote in his new book that Bush, Cheney and others purposely told him to mislead the media.Of course, it isn't like the media hasn't excelled in gullibility and a general sucking up to politicians over the last few years, as opposed to reporting actual news. But, is this all that much of a surprise to anyone anymore? This administration has made clear that it will do whatever it wants, whenever the hell it wants the will of the people be damned.

More Impending Doom News: Starbucks Profits Fall Short
2007-11-17 09:31:00
I have been talking recently about the sense of doom and dread hanging over the collective soul of this country the last few weeks. I certainly have been feeling it.Now things can officially be declared dire when Bloomberg News reports that Starbucks projected sales and profits will fall short in the next year. And, the greater horror is that they will actually have to start advertising to convince people to go to their nearest Starbucks, which, on average, is about two doors down from where you live.Perhaps, the overpriced drinks have something to do with it, especially when Dunkin' Donuts coffee isn't that horrible. Or maybe it has to do with the fact that every time I walk into a Starbucks, there is a line that already fills up the entire store. Or when I am looking to simply sit down at one and have a coffee, I can't find a seat because struggling writers park there for the day with their MacBook trying to get through their first book or screenplay.Regardless, how can anyone not

Veteran Suicide Epidemic Parts 1 & 2

Our country continues to fail those who served, in particular those who served in this farce of a war. Of course, those who supported this war don't want to hear about it, as their fervor to continue this war never foresees any consequences.

Days of Malaise
2007-11-15 07:40:00
There has been quite a dreary mood in the city and my life this last week and I don't know what it is. Personally, I have been going through some issues that just haven't been any fun and nearly every day for the last week or so has been cloudy to fit my mood just perfectly. How the hell do I get this to end?Currently, I am in the middle of chiropractic therapy to realign two bones in my neck that have been the cause of my medical problems recently. Yesterday was my third visit. Although I feel much better than I did, say, one month ago, I have been veering more from feeling decent to feeling like crap. The alignment yesterday resulted in more nerves needing to heel, which made last night's sleep pretty hard for me to get through. This happened after one of my best days where my neck and shoulder finally realigned with each other. Also, I have been consistently having a sore neck and actually woke up last night to apply a makeshift icepack to back of my head.Through all of this, I s

God is a Profitable Racket
2007-11-11 19:16:00
Meet the Rev. Crefio Dollar. No, I didn't make up that last name. The reverend recently reported his income from his World Changers Church. He made $69 million last year.Raise your hand if you have any sympathy for this man or what he represents. How can you not have the sneaking feeling in your head that perhaps, maybe religion is more of a business than a faith these days? When people give money to churches like these, they have to go in someone's pocket and I highly doubt poor people are benefiting. But the Reverend Dollar actually preaches what he calls the "prosperity gospel", in which he says God will shower those who are faithful to him with material riches. The last I checked, and I remind you that I am not religious, God could not give half a shit about material things or money.Basically, Dollar preaches this to help lie to himself to justify swindling untold numbers of gullible morons into donating money to his church. So that he can ride around in a Rolls Royce.Look at the p

Please, God! Just One Drop!
2007-11-09 08:27:00
In another story that demonstrates our elected officials are bonkers, Governor Sonny Perdue, whose state of Georgia is in the middle of a drought, has determined that an official prayer service next week should solve the problem.According to his logic, he is essentially going to the source. God. Did God not notice what was going on until now? Next, Pat Robertson will be saying the reason Georgia is in a drought was because too many gays moved into the state recently. Not once does anyone mention climate change due to global warming. No, that would be too logical an explanation for things. Let's just try to get God to listen to us.We are living in the 21st century. Aren't we?Below may be his next solution to tackling the problem:

The Work We Must Do
2007-11-08 17:42:00
It has not been the best week for me. I just started chiropractic treatment to get two bones that are sticking just slightly in my neck back into alignment. Not that serious, but still the pain I've been through the last month was not fun. Then, two days ago, the freelance job I was supposed to start next week got cancelled. It would have been three weeks and the money would have made this year solid for me. I essentially haven't worked in two months, although my deep savings has prevented any kind of emergency from occurring.Today was a rather dreary day. I hadn't done my walk from my home into Manhattan for exercise in a couple of days and, personally, wasn't in the mood. But, I decided to go in anyway. While on the 59th Street Bridge walkway between Queens and Roosevelt Island, I saw a man lying on the ground in the distance. Then, I saw a bicyclist stop and bend down to see how he was. I reached them a few seconds later and stopped to see if there was anything wrong with this man

Jobless Claims Go Up; Economy for Richest 1% Still Going Strong
2007-11-29 09:25:00
352,000 people filed applications for unemployment last week, as the economy will slow down for this October-December fiscal quarter.Next month, CEOs will still be giving themselves very healthy Christmas bonuses to build spas in their mansions, while the entry-level workers in their companies will be scraping together a few dollars to buy enough Hungry Man dinners to feed their families.

Republican Debate "Highlights"
2007-11-29 08:58:00
Here are some telling moments from the gathering of minds last night in Florida.First, the most irrelevant question in a political debate when what should be raised is what steps our government should take to guarantee a separation of church and state:Second, is waterboarding torture? Really, is there still a debate on this? Are we going to debate if electric shocks to the scrotum are torture as well?Third, is your campaign exploiting September 11th? Watch the tap dance Giuliani does around this question:Fourth, why don't African-Americans vote Republican ? Giuliani, with his record of paranoid behavior concerning racial issues in New York, was not the best person to ask this question. Love the way he suggests that when he was moving people off welfare that Black people were the ones mostly on welfare.Fifth, what does the confederate flag represent? Umm, maybe racist rednecks. But, I wouldn't get through this post without posting yet another doddering, halfway incoherent response from
