Hummingbird Pictures Like You’ve Never Seen Before
2007-11-04 15:00:42
Allow me to go off topic… just once. Recently one of my best friend and I, had the chance to rescue a hummingbird who went straight into our office window. The pictures were taken 3-4 weeks ago, but it’s only when I copied my SD card over to my PC and looked at the photos on my LCD that I realized how spectacular they were. I had to share. We found Hummy lying on the grass. We couldn’t find any sign of external injuries, but he was clearly knocked out. We gently took him off the grass and the little guy showed no signs of fear. As found on Wikipedia, Hummingbird s can flap their wings up to 80 times a second, that’s 4800 FPM (flaps per minute). According to bestnest.com, there are over 300 species of hummingbirds but only 16 can be found in North America. Depending on the angle, Hummy’s plumage appears completely different. The name Hummingbird comes from the characteristic hum made by their wings. After about 30 minutes, Hummy went back to his normal flapping life

How Do You Get More Traffic?
2007-11-01 08:00:52
This post has been submitted by Tracey Sands. You can find more on Tracey’s work at traceysands.wordpress.com and Branding Yourself Online. So you have a website built, you’ve been established for awhile, but you’re wondering how to get more traffic. You do this by having as many back links to your site as possible. What are “back links?” These are links that are on other sites but lead back to your site. Your goal, if you want to have a high page ranking in Google, is to have as many back links to your url as possible. Some ways to accomplish this are; submitting your site to search engines, directories, blogs, write articles, etc. Let’s look at these individually. Once you have a website built, you should fill the content with rich keywords. Before building your website you should brain storm about what words you want people to find your site with. Example You have a flower shop website. Your key words would be flower shop, roses, tulips, daisies, weddings, births, d

A Revenue Sharing Opportunity For Bloggers

This post has been submitted by Tiffany Blue. You can find more on Tiffany’s work at Associated Content.com. 451Press.com is revenue sharing opportunity for writers online, more specifically bloggers. You can blog about your city, your favorite Musicians, TV shows, celebrities and many other miscellanies categories such as astrology, parenting, etc… whatever your passion is. They do prefer you have some knowledge about what you will be writing about, so do not sign up to blog about cars if you are not passionate about cars. It will not make for a good blog, nor will you enjoy doing it. The set up it pretty much the same as any other revenue sharing website. They handle things like getting advertisers for your blog, maintaining the blog and server. Knowing their full time staff is taking care of all that gives you the time to write about

Ways to Make Money Online
2007-10-24 17:00:12
This post has been submitted by Tracey Sands. This is Tracey’s first article for PiggyBankPie.com but she has done other interesting projects such as writing her own ebook titled Branding Yourself Online. You can find more on Tracey’s work at traceysands.wordpress.com. I tried the whole affiliate thing. Searching the internet looking for memberships to join, advertising like crazy everywhere trying to get people to sign up under me, and for what? Nothing. Even Google adsense, I failed like crazy. But I didn’t give up. Next I moved on to writing my own ebook and promoting it everywhere and anywhere. I’m still promoting it. I figure if I am going to advertise anything it might as well be for me than I get 100% of the profits. Well one thing about making your own product, is you’re your own team. And it’s a lonely team. It’s a hard path. To be honest my sales for my ebook have been slow. I’m not asking much and I’ve written a good quality book, so I’m not sure

9 Popular Digital Currency Myths
2007-10-23 08:00:14
This post has been submitted by Mark Herpel. Mark has a strong background in Digital Currency and he’s written many articles on the subject. Mark writes for DigitalMoneyWorld.com, a member of the b5media family. Digital currency is a very special tool for transacting business online. Its versatile, used around the globe and provides great advantages for users. How can you tell if you have a digital currency account? 1 - Digital currency transactions are reversible and if I spend to the wrong account, I just notify the company and my funds are returned. If my PC gets compromised and my digital currency account hacked, I simply notify the company of the theft and the funds are returned to my account. FALSE. Digital currency transactions are NOT reversible. Non refundable transactions are on distinguishing feature of all online digital currencies and separate them from online payment systems like PayPal. Digital currency companies like Liberty Reserve, Webmoney, e-gold, e-bullion,

Ever Stumbled Your Own Post?
2007-11-08 22:35:36
I first experienced the StumbleUpon effect when someone submitted my post What’s Your Blogger Timesheet part I on October 20th. In a few hours this post received more traffic than all other posts combined together. I couldn’t believe my stats the next morning. Shortly after that, Mark Herpel’s post 9 Popular Digital Currency Myths published on Oct 23rd, and Tracey Sands’s Ways to Make Money Online that went out the next day were both stumbled too. Here’s the impact: To this day, Mark’s post attracted 227 unique visitors and each day new Stumblers are hitting the site specifically for this article Tracey’s post got her portion of the pie too, her post generated 148 unique visitors from StumbleUpon. The Birds Ever seen Hitchcock’s The Birds? If not, well, it’s currently playing here. My photos of the hummingbird generated an avalanche of unique visitors: 5036 Stumblers so far. Not only that, it created such a buzz… that it even made the buzz.stumbleupon.com pa

How I Made $300 Writing For Associated Content
2007-11-07 11:00:11
This post has been submitted by Tiffany Blue. You can find more on Tiffany’s work at Associated Content .com. One of the best places to make a few bucks online is Associated Content . There you can submit text, video, and audio content for money. You can earn money in two different ways: upfront payments, and performance bonuses. Make sure you read and follow their submission guidelines. AC is a legit company, and is based in Denver, CO. They have an excellent reputation, I have not found anyone claiming to have been scammed, not paid, or anything like that. I have made money at AC, after my next performance bonus payment I will have made over $300.00 there. If I had written more, I could have made more. They are good at making offers (or declining) your submitted content in a timely manner. My longest wait has been 10 days. You always have the choice to decline an offer that Ac has made for your content, you even have the option to edit and resubmit. However, in most cases you wi

Five Ways To Kill Your Blog
2007-11-06 06:00:03
This post has been submitted by Sharon Hurley Hall from Get Paid To Write Online.com. You wouldn’t really want people to read your blog, would you? If you are sick of the hassle and the hype, here’s how you can make sure that no one new visits your blog and your old readers go elsewhere. Go Off Topic One reason why people stop reading a blog is because they don’t know what they will get. That works for some blogs, but if you have a niche and readers expect a certain kind of content, not providing it will drive them away. Forget About Optimization There are plenty of plugins that will help you optimise your blog post titles, create metatags and avoid duplicate content. Don’t use them and Google will soon put most of your content into the supplemental results index. With luck, your blog will never come out. Ignore Your Readers his one really works. When people visit your blog and comment on your posts, don’t do anything. Really. It’s that simple. Your

Whether they are RSS subscribers or web site returning visitors, readers are the blogger’s most important asset. While you cannot focus all your Marketing strategy on Social Media, mostly because you will be flagged as spam, there are ways to learn how to use it efficiently. Let’s Collaborate
2007-11-14 22:39:21
The recent Google hit over Page Rank created a wind of change on the Blogosphere. Text-Link-Ads is one that got a serious punch, when bloggers such as Yaro Starak says “Yes I do” to Google and stops selling text ads, it tells a lot. I can understand his position since he was a PR6 and therefore a huge portion of its traffic came from Google organic, so dropping to PR3 hurts. But still, what’s next? Oh have you heard about the new AdSense click zone policy? Let’s be honest here, not only we are giving Google tons of personal information, but we are also changing the way we collaborate, all in the name of Page Ranking. This PR story has a negative effect upon smaller blogs, scaring some from extending collaboration. In a previous post I was talking about the power of blogging collaboration. We are not competitors, but collaborators. Why don’t we let Google do its things for a while, and we maximize exchanges and collaboration to increase visitors and RSS subscribers to

Marketing on Facebook
2007-11-13 07:00:51
This post has been submitted by Tracey Sands. You can find more on Tracey’s work at www.coffeehousepoetry.blogspot.com. Times are changing on the internet, and you need to change with them or get left behind. One of the biggest changes is social networking sites; they are popping up everywhere, and the smart marketer knows how to take advantage of them. My article focuses on Facebook and how a savvy business owner markets himself. First things, first, you need to go to www.facebook.com and register yourself. This gives you a profile. Now before you even start remember this is for business. Some people think Facebook is only for personal, that you can’t profit or mix business with it, well that is their opinion, not mine. Another point I want to clear up, you can have two Facebook accounts; one for business, one for personal. Facebook will not let you use the same name so be creative; use your middle name. Facebook also does not like this approach, but it does work. Now you need

Gold. Its Not Just For Jewelry Anymore
2007-11-11 17:10:30
This post has been submitted by Mark Herpel. You can find more on Mark’s work at DigitalMoneyWorld.com, a member of the b5media family, and at American Chronicle. Where can you put your saving to protect it from the harsh reality of today’s economic world? Gold! Anyone with a PC should already have some idea that precious metals like gold can be a good store of value during an economic crisis. Do you doubt that today there is an economic crisis already beginning? Do you see price of oil moving closer to $100 a barrel? You know that will soon translate into a $4.00+ per gallon of gas. Plus, winter is closing in fast and heating oil for your home is going to be expensive this year…. Each trip you make to the supermarket is costing more and more for that same cart of groceries… Now that the housing market is depressed and mortgage lenders have tightened their belts….you can forget about that home equity line of credit which was going to finance Christm

The Art and Form of Blogging
2007-11-18 19:10:32
This post has been submitted by Libby Carswell. This is Libby’s first article for PiggyBankPie.com, you can find more on her work at www.emmaburns.com. After many hours of reading individual blogs I have seen incredible posts that include pictures, video, audio tracks, some really fascinating stories as well as some that could be improved. Blogging has become a new art. There are some that are unique and interesting and others that are not quite so. The Blog is an amalgamation of many different things where a new form of communication has taken on its own life. To those creative souls who have the Blog down, I give a standing ovation, a grand applause for the talent and ingenuity of mixing life with technology. Blogging is a sort of poetry that is free-verse, open to interpretation and out there for all to share and feel. This creates a unique experience for each individual in the blog audience. The artistry and heart that has been shown in many cases is outstanding. With

The day after I published Let’s Collaborate , John Chow came up with similar thoughts on Google. You can read his post here. Have you noticed how the Blogosphere is divided on this issue? But anyway, there is hope, and while I’m usually a big fan of Google, I think they went too far this time. So while the search engine is heading North with its latest policy, I will be heading south for a while because I think PiggyBankPie has more to win by collaborating with other Bloggers, than turning off NoFollow and not using Text Links to promote other sites. Have I Found Collaborators? You bet! While no one have commented on my first post on the subject, I was contacted by two blogs to discuss collaboration. Here they are: The Millionaire Secrets: Shawn Lim is 22, and by 28 she wants to be millionaire and own her dream car, a nice Honda Civic. Do you think she will achieve her ultimate goal? You can follow her journey through her blog where she shares ideas on how to make money onli

Ten Paid To Blog Programs At A Glance

This post has been submitted by Sharon Hurley Hall from Get Paid To Write Online.com. Everyone’s in an uproar because blogs are losing Google PageRank, mostly because of paid links. If you want to make Google money, then you have to forego paid to post programs. However, there are many people who have decided to risk all and keep taking the easy money that paid to post programs offer. All of them work with a basic format, where you include a number of links in a post of a minimum length and get a payout. Here’s an at-a-glance guide to 10 paid to post programs to consider. Squidoo: Make As Many Lenses As You Want
2007-11-28 16:00:59
This post has been submitted by Tiffany Blue. You can find more on Tiffany’s work at Associated Content.com. There is no doubt that making a website or blog is a great way to make money online. However, not every website/blog is going to be successful and make you a millionaire. The thing that prevents most people from even trying is the cost of making a website. You can buy a domain name at places like GoDaddy for around $15. Like most hosting/domain registering services, GoDaddy gives you a free 5 page website or blog with each domain name. As good as that sounds, when you go to set up your free page you will find out that there is a catch. Until you pay for the hosting, you are not allowed to put any ads or anything like that up on your page, along with other rules. So, it is really a tease. Squidoo There are (free) alternatives for those that do not want to mess with the technical side of setting up a website and do not mind a having a sub-domain. Squidoo is good because it is ea

How To Find Tons Of New Quality Visitors To Your Blog
2007-11-26 07:00:21
If you have thought about guest blogging for a while, but you still haven’t tried it yet because you keep all your pillar posts for yourself, I’m hoping the following article will inspire you to revisit your position on the subject. I recently virtually met Mehdi from StrongLifts.com, Mark from My Tropical Escape and Monika Mundell from Blogging Web 2.0 through Maki’s (doshdosh) Team Marketing Network I’ve joined recently. I started exchanging with them on guest blogging, a subject on which I am considering writing a series, and found really inspiring stories from all of them. Guest blogging is considered one of the best way to bring quality traffic to your blog. The term “quality” is important here. While it is fairly easy to get hundreds of Stumblers rushing to your site, your strategy should not reside in getting more hits, but instead on how to attract quality visitors and convert them into RSS subscribers or else, frequent readers. How To Give Your RSS Feed a Little Hug
2007-11-25 12:28:28
While there are many directories available to index your blog, there’s a new kid on the block called rssHugger. The idea behind rssHugger is to ease the process of bringing bloggers and readers together. The site offers an interesting way to send you back traffic. By displaying a link on your site to your blog’s page on rssHugger, their system will computerize all incoming traffic from your blog and rank your site according to the level of referrals you’ll generate. The more readers click your link to visit your rssHugger page, the higher you rank. This might get you featured in their monthly Top 100. Registration There are two ways to can get featured on rssHugger, the free way, and the $20 way. Most of the time, you’ll agree with me that paying subscribers get more and/or better services because they paid money. rssHugger sees it differently. Whether you are a free registrant, or you’ve paid 20 bucks, you get the very same service. What’s The Catch

2007-12-05 16:00:17
If you’ve never heard the name Caroline Middlebrook, it’s either because you don’t read Make Money Online blogs, or you simply don’t pay attention to comments left by readers. Caroline became widely known by bloggers following posts from Yaro Starak and Darren Rowse regarding her commenting strategy. Since then, her blog’s RSS count has been growing at a fast pace and she keeps on releasing high-quality posts on a regular basis. Caroline’s story is fascinating, and so is her journey in the blogosphere. Hope you’ll enjoy the interview, I really enjoyed interviewing her. Caroline, the Software Developer PiggyBankPie: Caroline, you recently became the talk of the town in the blogosphere following articles on how leaving comments helped you bring traffic to your blog. People then rushed to your blog trying to get to know you and one of the first thing they learned, is that on August 22nd you had handed your resignation as a full time software deve

Can You Spell Blog?
2007-12-04 16:00:26
This post has been submitted by Libby Carswell. You can find more on her work at www.emmaburns.com. Bloge. Blog. Bloog. Blug. Can you pick out the correct spelling of the word? Most people have learned to read English with a certain set of rules attached. We learn the alphabet first along with what sounds each letter makes, we learn how to put those letters together to make words and then we learn how to put those words together to form sentences. One of the most important parts of that learning process includes being taught how to spell words correctly. In the United States, children are drilled with spelling word lists each week at school. Knowing how to spell words properly helps them to know in what context words should be used and what the meanings of those words are. You may be asking, “Does spelling really matter in my blog?”  In this article we’ll examine some reasons why spelling is so important when blogging your heart away. Consider your audience Some bloggers may

My 5 Favourite WordPress Plugins
2007-12-02 16:00:28
I have tried a fair deal of WordPress Plugins recently and found a few ones that are worth mentioning. So I thought I’d share the info, thinking it might be useful for some of you. The Plugins listed below are all currently in used on PiggyBankPie, so I can recommend them knowing they are safe and stable. Add Sign This plugin adds a signature at the bottom of your posts. On PiggyBankPie, it basically handles the portion starting from Never miss a post, subscribe to receive…. and until the last sponsor (the usual group of 4 sponsors I end all posts with. Before using Add Sign I was copy/pasting this block of text and links at the end of each post, and it was a real pain. FeedBurner FeedSmith This one is really neat, it basically redirects you /feed folder to FeedBurner (useful if you are using FeedBurner to handle your RSS Feed). if for instance a reader goes to your blog and clicks the browser’s RSS icon appearing when it detects an RSS feed, then the user will be re
