Merry Sunday, Just wanted to inform everyone of the most excellent news! TxTrader is the grand prize winner of the March 2007 trading contest.  As you may know, we had a contest in March to see who could put on every trading call (as shown on the track record). Whoever came the closet would be given $1,000 cash.  Most of the entries I receive from traders showed that they were trading 4x or more times the amount we were each day. Over trading is the bane of many aspiring traders. Congratulations to TxTrader for keeping his calm and exercising discipline in this chaotic market.

This week we’ve received more positive comments from our users then we have to date. I love to see struggling traders turn it around. One of our ultra-newbies even made 60 points profit today on the Dow E-Mini YM. Daily FATAL Newbie Mistake

Here’s an example of how one of our traders ‘blew it’ today. You must not let anger and frustration get the best of you in this game… We have a very hard working trader by the name of Matt. This morning he took a personal trade, got stopped out, and then left the room due to frustration. A large chunk of his account was gone. After he left, we had four more calls on the e-mini dow. A few of our ‘newbies’ made over 60 points by sticking with their plan for the rest of the day. We had one of our best ‘top 4′ trading days ever. Matt sits with a loss because he let his stop out enrage him. Seeing this type of behavor frustrates me because I’ve done it too. I try to think of stops as a business expense. You were wrong, get out. Move on to the next setup. As usual, I like to recomend traders read Trading in the Zone by Mark Douglas before they even start day trading. So you found someone to help you learn to trade in a few weeks? Lets think about that for just a few seconds. Lets look at some very intelligent, determined people and see how long it took them to become profitable: Linda Raschke - 3 years John Carter - 4 years Mark Fisher - 3 years Hubert Senters - 2 years sitting by the side of an experienced trader before trading Hubert did it the smart way, he didn’t he even put in a trade for a year.  We have people join our site and ask me if they will be making steady income in a month. What don’t these guys hear? Oh yes, I get it. It takes 11 years to become a doctor. OK it takes 4 years of College ball before you even become a rookie in the NFL. Marcel Link took 7 years before he became profitable, I get it. OK Geoff, I followed Alex’s calls for a week, how come I am not on the cover of Super Trader magazine? I am started to get annoyed, Dr. Smithers, I read the section on scalpels, but damn it, I have been a whole week here

At about 2:15 PM we broadcast our last trade of the day. It was a call to short the market. Unlike a few of the earlier ones which worked right away, this one took a little time I have deleted the members names to protect the innocent, hehe, but you can see how people can start negative images about their own trades. 14:15:21 {AlexLW} [**] SELL SHORT ALERT. Harsh Lesson to Be Learned

After a long dull week, I was so jovial and excited about Wednesdays FOMC announcement.  Finally the market would have a catalyst to kick it up a notch! (ala Emeril)  Wednesday morning my cable modem connection went down for an enitre two days. The trading room had the best two days they’ve had in awhile. I was not abel to trade any of it. I was slightly bummed out. That Friday I was on the phone to Ma Bell ordering a backup DSL connection for my trading setup. They are only $24 if you already have phone service. Always have a back up internet and power connection. This could of been fatal if I was in a position when the FOMC announcement was released. Some of you may be able to buy a $10 USB cable and connect your CELLULAR PHONE to the computer if your internet connection goes down. I should say WHEN your connection goes down because i ts going to happen. CajunSniper P.S. Have a grand and happy mothers day!!

No brakes on stupidity

Hello there, Every day we get feedback from people who stop themselves out of winning trades.  Or perhaps those who trade with no stops at all. As you may know we constantly tell people to trade small and on a sim and learn. And most just happily ignore all that, they ignore the videos, they ignore discipline etc. The only hope for some is to train them for a week and yell and scream when they do something stupid. Unfortunately we can not stop people from taking or not taking trades; I can not stop them from not doing their homework; I can’t stop them from making outrageous trading claims. Each trader has his or her responsibilities. We had some very good trades yesterday. The only one that lost big was Max Spann and we know over time it is very successful. The gap worked beautifully. And the only short that got stopped out was more than made up for by the trend line break long. It is tough, as you can see when people blame you for their trading mistakes. All we can do

What in the world are some of you guys thinking!  Sit back and ask yourself. Why did you join PureTick?  Here are a few reasons I can think of: Alex’s 82% success rate? Live market commentary? Consistent profits? Education and advice? So when clear solid advice is given in the trading room on a trade, why chose to ignore it.  Imagine a guy who comes in to a restaurant.  He orders, the food comes and then he refuses to eat it. Then he pays fully price and happily leaves.  What was the point in wasting that money?  This rant does not apply to all of our users. I observed a few traders in the room going maverick and totally ignoring Alex’s and my advice on Friday. It does feel good to do your own thing and to figure out the world and its nuances on your own.  But why re-invent the wheel when it’s already working.  Alex’s found a set of rules that work for him. Cluster Support (No squirrels involved)

Today we took numerous great long plays off of the cluster support level around 13,402 on the Dow E-Mini YM contract. A cluster is just a level were multiple technicals are overlapping. They usually provide rock solid excellent support or resistance for high probability trades! Also, trading can make you hungry. So why not try out a tasty Caramello. Don’t share it, especially with dames named Megan.
