How cute! 2008-01-14 17:52:54 Look what I came across today perusing the internet:
How unbelievably cute is this little sterling silver charm of a smooth coated dachshund?! Maybe I am a little biased because I love my doxies so much… I just think it is adorable (especially the skin folds on the front legs).
Not a dachshund owner? No worries: there are all kinds of great breed specific jewelry makers online! You can Google almost any breed and find something to wear, use, or decorate your home with. Anything from earrings to blankets right at the tip of your fingers!
Is Petco’s P.A.L.S. membership your friend? 2008-01-14 00:20:09
If you’ve shopped at Petco you have probably heard, “Would you like to join Petco’s P.A.L.S club?”, as you were checking out your purchases. It’s easy to decline promotional discount cards as they are sprung on you at the register. Believe me, I am the queen of “No thank you”, “Not today”, and “Maybe next time”. However, P.A.L.S. is one of the few savings clubs worth signing up for!
Here are a few benefits to the “Petco Animal Lovers Save” club card:
1. They gotta eat!
Petco tracks your cat or dog food purchases and after buying 10 bags, you receive the 11th bag for free! The purchases need to be within a years time and must be the same size and brand…if you are the kind of shopper who buys the same brand, every time than this would be a great perk for you.
2. They gotta be clean and purdy!
Your pets are a direct reflection of you and they should look it! Petco will track your grooming sessions an Read more:friend
Making a sacrifice 2008-01-13 18:23:20 A note on my personal life:
I work just like any other adult in the free world. (Sure, I would like to hang out with my dogs all day but that’s no way to pay the bills.) After working from 9am to 5pm, I know that I need to come home and spend some quality time with my doggies. I know they need more than 30 minutes of ‘out’ time to be happy, healthy pets….Say I get invited out–if i have been gone all morning than (more than likely) I am staying in. It’s a responsibility. I know that and I do what I need to do.
Sometimes having a pet means that you need to make sacrifices for your pet. It is just like having a child. They need you to be there. They need to have quality time with you, their parent, their favorite person in the whole world.
Think about if you were stuck in a house all day, everyday. You looked forward to seeing one person, all day, everyday. And when that person came home they left just as quickly. It wouldn’t make for a very happ
“Get Fuzzy” on Friday 2008-01-11 15:34:21 Need a laugh? …or just a reminder of your own household?
Even though these animals talk…and this cat knows how to work The Clapper…I feel like I can relate to the antics between cat and dog!
Check out my doxie, Clyde, and calico cat, Olive:
My cat taunts my dogs and this proves it! She coyly places herself on the arm of the couch a mere foot away from the puppies. She jumps right in front of them while they are tumbling on the floor with a toy….She crawls into my lap, begging for attention, while one of the boys snoozes there already! It’s almost as if she is trying to be pounced on. Or in the case of this photo, it’s as if she wants Clyde to spring up and grab her tail.
The &ldquo

Arm & Hammering out pet odors! 2008-01-11 12:11:01
I live with 5 animals. I don’t need to tell you that 5 animals come with a fair amount of cleaning responsibilities. Between the dirt and fur, treats and toys, my living room (the hang out area for my dogs) can quickly look like a war zone, scattered with what ever is left in their aftermath.
Picking up the wreckage is one thing– but what comes along with the dogs, and the cats, and the cleaning, is the unavoidable pet odor. If you have pets, you know what I’m talking about. And if you know what I’m talking about then I’m sure you’ve tried all the odor eliminating products I have; Lysol, Febreeze, etc etc. Most of these products do exactly what they claim to do: they freshen the air, disinfect a few germs, and sometimes add a nice scent to the room.
Sure, all of those things are great! But with heavy pet traffic, how long does that fresh air stay fresh?? How long does that nice scent mask my stinking living room??
One day. Maybe two.
With my schedu

Move Over Thanksgiving, Make Room for X-Mas! 2007-11-26 00:56:03 Now that Thanksgiving
has come and gone, hopefully leaving all my readers full of good food and appreciation for all they have, the season moves toward Christmas. My holiday months are always a matter of time management. Finding time for work and play becomes increasingly difficult when all the extraneous holiday details need to fit into my schedule. There are hours of shopping, parties, baking, dinners, in addition to all the other everyday responsibilities that do not go on hold just because of the holidays. One of the most important responsibilities I have is caring for my doggies!
Since the weather has dropped to right above frigid and daylight is limited to early evening, my crew’s activities have changed slightly. My Aussie, Bear, doesn’t mind the cold weather and will walk or play for as long as she can. My dachshunds are a different story and hate the weather change almost as much as they hate doggie jackets. The Boys will literally stop dead in the doorway when the

Fogle captures those moments of sheer exuberance as carefree canines frolic and rollick on the beach. Engaging photos show dogs swimming, playing, romping, surfing, and lounging in the water and on the sand. Featuring dogs of varying pedigrees and personalities, including Germ
DIY: Tug Toy! 2007-11-13 09:36:01 You have been to a pet supply store. Everybody has. Aside from buying dog food or treats, most owners surprise their pooches with dog toys occasionally. So, you are walking aisle to aisle, scanning for the perfect toy to take home to your anxiously waiting friend and nothing seems to fit your requirements. It can not be hard plastic because small pieces could crumble off and be eaten. It can not be soft fabric because your dog will tear the fabric and rip out the polyfill stuffing inside. Other toys are too small, too boring, or entirely too expensive!
I can’t speak for all dogs, but I know that mine are tough chewers. If my dogs get ahold of a toy that can be destroyed, dismantled, and torn to bits then it will be–quickly. We all love to spoil our dogs (and isn’t that why we have them?) but how disappointing to watch a $15 dog toy be shredded in minutes! Even if your companion isn’t hard on toys, a good affordable, entertaining, and easily made dog toy is alway
