another question from my hospital The post..well i am new to this forum and since many friends asked questions here id like to raise one...how can one distinguish a heart problem from others?my family history is of high bp n even my bp keeps on fluctuating..i have pain in chest and wen im depressed it rises, n sumtimes to n unbearable state..!i have been living in constant depression for years now and i am very sure i need psychological help as soon as possible...i always imagine myself on death bed and cant help it.this pain has been constant and specially wen im depressed i get this pain towards the left of my chest.kindly comment. My replyDear anonymous....Dont worry about your heart problems....Just having a high BP is not enough to cause a heart problem....There are many other risk factors like smoking,diet....But you need to be a little cautious because there is a family history....About your pain in the chest it is mostly due to psychological problems..Consult a psychologist for t

Another question?...Any replies...?The post...i.Heart valves are opened up with laser these days.If someone's heart arteries are blocked by chlestrol ,can they be opened by laser also?Is this treatment available in Lahore or Islamabad,in Pakistan? Can all the arteries of whole body become stiff with prolong blood pressure? What if arteries of other parts of the body are also blocked with cholestrol?Advise needed urgently please!non-doc replySurgery has its limits ... and veins and valves do get weak/calcified all over with prolonged, chronic illness but I'll let a doc get your primary questions.(They'll be on tomorrow morning)I'd ask:-Is the person allergic to many things as well?- Are the liver and kidneys functioning to eliminate waste? If the person's condition is stable, and is in a stress-free environment couldn't the person try to slowly rebuild his body with diet and exercise instead of taking a risk with surgery?Lime instead of salt, Olive oil, raw foods sun-dried, leafy gre

Orkut Pharmacy /The drug shop...Hey friends...I thought of creating a virtual pharmacy as another community related to orkut hospital where generic names and brand names of drugs are displayed, their cost ,their side effects ,indications etc..This information will be useful not only to doctors also to general public where they are curious to know about the drugs they are using...also they can side check whether it is the correct drug..Also we can create a drug pool where if you have unused and unexpired drugs we can pool it and help the poor...Also as you know some drugs are costly,if you want we can volunteer the treatment of any one poor patientsSuggestions invited....Post your comments here...If somebody wants to volunteer, just put your e-mail address and phone numberAlso pharma companies and those in pharma marketing are invited....you can put your e-mail address and phone numberMy email id is nagendra_17nov@yahoo.co.in....

A healthcare boom after IT boom?People are predicting about a BT boom ...but where is it?Its incubation period is long and costs are plenty..I think rather than BT boom there will be a healthcare boom in India in the next 5 to 10 years..with a lot of software professionals with high paying jobs and leading stressed out lives..Already it is showing with the number of infertility cases,accidents,obesity...People will flock to health clinics for preventive health care to get betterAlso with this there is advancement of technology with networking sites like orkut enabling us to communicate with any person in the world..Naturally as a result of this Medical tourism will benefit with India offering cheap and world-class health care...This augurs well for the second -largest industry after agriculture in India.

How to improve health in rural and among urban poor?Swaminathan Anklesaria Iyer fascinates me with his articles in Times edit pages on sundays. On one such sunday ,he had talked about getting a computer in each village with a generator and education and agriculture.Anyhow Health is defined as complete social, mental and physical well-being.So that initiative would also help in telemedicine and help in healthWhat do you think?do write in your comments..

Ganglion Asked by Shailendra A ganglion is developed on my left hand some yrs back just at the joint of palm with hand over the main blood vein.I got it operated which went successful but it again got developed only after 1 month.I have heard that homeopathy is more effective in this case.Any suggestions.Reply by Siddhartha sahuif it has been proved beyond doubt it is a ganglion and nothing else it is harmless and can be safely left alone.there r many ways of treating it like using enzymes, steroids(works in many people),and ofcourse surgery(recurences r rare when done by an experienced surgeon)Reply by anonymousHomeopathy is great with all growths ... if you're near a homeopath, say someone suggested Thuja. But don't self-medicate or use ointments -find a good homeopath- since I've seen the cure can be spectacular if done well, with a caring doc (rather than sloppy attempts with too high potencies or too low as application-type extracts).(Don't go in for more surgeries either un

Erythroblastosis fetalisA question by anonymous I would like to know if there is a need to check the blood group of ur prospective life partner.I have heard that if a woman has a Rh - blood group and her husband has Rh + blood group, their child will have RH + blood group and when the child is in the mothers womb, it would be like a foreign body in her mothers body and his blood can mix with her blood. This could cause problems during pregnancy. In my case, my blood group is B Rh + whereas the blood group of a girl who can be prospective partner is AB-.Is there a medical reason why it would not be advisable for us to marry. Is there any treatment for this problem.ThanksErythroblastosis fetalis also known as Rh incompatibilityis an autoimmune condition characterised by development of antibodies against red blood cells in the second pregnancy after the first pregnancy is sensitised by passing of Rh positive blood through the placenta and antibodies develop....These antibodies attack the r
