2007-05-11 06:18:00
I have been encouraging my son to draw and colour for quite some time. He didn't seem interested. I can tell from how he refused to colour his school homework. Even if it only a tiny picture. If it's painting and making a mess, yes he love it.So I thought this will be a good craft. Hopefully he will find interest in drawing and colouring in his own drawings collection book.Material needed: Paper (we are using 11" x12.5") String Colouring medium (we used colour pencils) How to do it: Lay all the paper together.Put a few paper clips to secure it.Punch a few holes on one side of the collected papers.Use the strings to tie them up.Decorate the cover. The fancy book way::: That's what we did :: Cut the papers in staggering sizes.Colour on edge of all the paper.Gather the paper with the biggest piece at the bottom.Continue with the instructions for the normal book.Note:If you have those fancy scissors that cut out zig-zag or wavy line, you can let your child use that instead of the normal

Paper Fan
2007-06-27 21:17:00
As a child, we didn't have the luxury of having many fans at home. One fan serves the whole family and the only place to feel air-conditioning will be major shopping centers. When the weather was hot, my grand-parents and parents will use fan made from dried grass to fan me and my brother. This craft was taught by my grand-father. We used recycled brown paper used for wrapping stuff then. He would twist the ends to make it easier for us to hold and fan.Materials needed:Hard Paper, preferably A3 size but I'm using A4 because my son complained that it's to big for him to draw.Colour Medium, he used colour pencils.Scotch TapeHow to do it:Draw on the piece of paper. After completion, fold the short end of the paper in zig-zag pattern of about 2cm wide.Hold on the end of the gathered paper.Tape it to secure.Gentle pull the open end to 'open' the fan. Now, you can fan yourself on a hot day!

"Mom ♡ You" inside.Materials needed:PaperWhite crayonColouring pencilsHow to do it:The 'giver' designs the card by writing and drawing on the card with white crayon.Press hard when you are writing to get the crayon imprint on the card. The 'receiver' colour all over the card to reveal what's on the card.Note:Of course, the receiver would be able to see the picture/words written but it's fun to see it appearing as he/she colours it

Edible Art - Printed Bread
2007-04-27 03:06:00
I have not done any craft with my son lately because we fell sick one after another. Plus the amount of homework and spelling my son has from school. I'm tired after guiding/monitoring him (otherwise his mind wanders off to somewhere else).I was preparing Tea for my son and I thought why not him do it. Still consider a Craft and I bet my head for this that he will enjoy it. See, I still can post this - my head is still on my shoulders. hehehe~Materials needed:1 slice of old (not stale) breadCookie cuttersHow to do it:Just press the cookie cutters on the bread.Don't press too hard and cut out the shape. That's not what we want. Just hard enough to get the shape imprinted on the bread.Toast the bread using a toaster or like us, using frying pan with the bread face down. Not too hot though. Otherwise it will get burnt.Mommy check and remove bread from frying pan.Since you can keep this piece of craft, eat it! Remember to scrape the burned part off the bread before eating.Note:If you do

He just colour the handle (cardboard strip) and left the cup as it is.Part II: THE EGGWhen we did this last year, we painted the eggs. Since my son is older and can handle glitters better we will be using that to decorate the eggs instead of painting it.Materials needed:EggGlueGlittersHow to do it:To remove eggs from shell, gentle make a hole on the top and bottom of shel
