Fungus on the Brain 2007-11-03 20:03:00 October 27th, 2013 Another development in the Zoo has occurred. I have been closely monitoring the progress of several colonies of neuronal fungi, and as of this morning we have successfully coaxed colony NF23B into cooperating with our own interface electrodes. This task has been extremely difficult, as the neuronal fungi's immunosystem responses were initially rejecting outright the electrodes for quite a few generations. Eventually we managed to coax the fungi into co-existing along side electrical circuits, provided they had an ample supply of nutrients, but communicating with the circuitry has proven to be the most difficult aspect of this task.Neuronal fungi originated as a means of creating self-repairing circuitry, and diverged, for my imagination soon saw other purposes for a fungi whose structure modeled that of a neuron. Markus, hellbent on expanding the corporation into new markets, has ordered me prepare the C1F group for tactical military use. That's right, we're sending the dogs to war. You see, while the deaths of mechanical drones are cheaper when it comes to political currency, as opposed to the costly loss of actual soldiers, the financial cost of drones remains excruciatingly high. However, and I think it a most unfortunate consequence of my success at breeding C1F, the cost of raising a single member of group C1F pales in comparison to the cost of one multi-million dollar advanced scout robot.
