Independent Artists and Bands Get on iTunes 2007-10-27 19:33:03 It is amazing how many people do not know about how to get on iTunes
. There are many independent artists and bands that are unknown and do not sell their music on iTunes. Well, here is some great news for you. I know at least two websites that will help you distribute your digital cds to iTunes. It is affordable and it is reasonable.
We know that you have already focused on promoting your music. That is what we do here at the New Artist Review. However, you want to be able to sell your music too. Once you get your fans together, it is time to cash in those chips. Here are two websites I know: Tunecore and CDBaby. One is a little different than the other. But they do the same thing. They distribute your mp3s to online music stores. It takes about 45 days to get listed. But once you are listed, it is a done deal. It takes a good 6 months to get your CD off of iTunes once it is listed in their music catalog.
So, be very organized in your song tracks and have an album cover ready. Have a j Read more:Artists

Write Music Because You Love It Not So You Can Be Loved 2007-11-01 05:28:07 From my experiences, especially from Nasheville Tennessee, I have received a more realistic perspective on the music industry. When I was young I had visions of fame, cameras, and wealth. I have a talent for writing music. The first thing that many new song writers get is the ego complex. Then it goes to bragging about your music. And then it goes to a huge door slamming into your face. Being shut out in the music industry is a common thing.
You have to really have the music be a part of you to be a long term composer or music producer. The music business is so competitive that you would have a better chance at learning how to be a plumber. Also, there are many scams and contests cashing in on a music writer’s dream. Being a recording artist and composer needs to be in your blood to even consider the possibility that you may succeed in the music industry.
These are the key things you should know. Always develop your talent. Develop your skill. And most important take some college Read more:Write

Digital Downloads Are The Way Of The Future 2007-10-29 10:39:37 Because of internet technology advancing, it is getting much easier to find music. You will find mp3s. Mp3s are taking over the music industry. They are basically a wave file compressed down into a smaller file. Yet if converted to a higher bit rate, such as, 320 kbps, you will get a bigger file but better quality in mp3 playback.
Mp3 players are popular. Even cellphones, ipods, and other gadgets are integrating mp3 audio. You can buy almost any gadget that will have an mp3 player inside. Uplink USB cables sold separately. Have the convenience of transferring digital music from one gadget to another.
With this going on, cds may become obsolete. Who knows, maybe they will create downloading stations at Wal-mart where people can buy mp3s and upload then into their mp3 players. The future is digital. Physical albums, tapes, and cds may become the thing of the past. We will see where this trend follows.

Compiling Friends To Create A Music Network On MySpace 2007-10-28 09:51:31 We all know it is no secret that people enjoy networking on MySpace
. Music
ians can take advantage of this feature. Believe it or not I have seen some amazing results on other MySpace Artist pages. I could not believe the amount of friends I was seeing. We can say that some people have got thousands of friends. This strategy is a good way to get traffic to your MySpace Page.
It is not easy to make friends. It is time consuming. But it is also really easy. Just click on “Add to Friends
” on whoever you are interested in joining. However, let me give you some advice. Research your friend and choose wisely. See if you have things in common. Look at the band influences to see if you like the same music. The more people you find that have something in common, the better the results of creating a huge friend music network.

Do Not Let Managers Control Your Music 2007-11-05 10:44:24 From my personal experiences in Nasheville Tennessee, managers are only out for one thing, themselves. Do not let them boss you around and tell you how to sing. Do not let them try to change your music, your image, your mission, and your dreams. Remember, managers work for you. It is good to listen to their criticism. However, do not let it cramp your style. Your originality as an independent or professional commercial artist is crucial to your success. Take control of your music career. Managers
are beneficial if they have the right connections. They are good for support. They are good for companionship. But always remember why you are in the music industry in the first place.

How Much Money Do You Spend Marketing Your Music? 2007-11-02 22:41:44 Here is a good question. How much money do you spend on promoting your music? Hundreds or Thousands? And who are you using to promote your music? Are music websites effective? Do you create merchandise? Do you sell your cds through amazon.com?
The truth is it takes money to get noticed. Unfortunately, no one cares. For example, you spend fifty bucks a month buying advertisement for your music website. How many people go your website? How long do they stay? And are they leaving quickly. The answers are simple. People want everything for free. They don’t want to spend money on your music unless you are commercialized. However, there are those few that do make money. But very little.
Most independent artists live normal lives and can’t afford to pay the kind of money they need to get noticed. So, my advice is to research ways to promote your music for free. This way, you are doing what you enjoy, but you don’t regret the loss of expectation.

Major Label Record Companies Forcing Independence 2007-11-01 15:22:22 You know what the big dream is. Getting a major label record deal. Or sign your soul to a contract while they take 90 percent. When you sign a record deal it is like going to a big family reunion and everyone has eaten all the food. All you see is one piece of Cake and then someone takes that too.
Unless you are already wealthy, your chances are slim of getting a record deal.It costs hundreds of dollars for promotion and cd duplication, packaging, marketing and whatever else. There are so many licensing fees, rules, and make sure everybody gets their money. Producers, agents, managers, and people you don’t know want their money. What is left, a maybe a salary of $40,000.00 a year or less. You do all the work, they make millions off of you. That is a major label deal.
MajorLabel
s have dominated the music market forcing many artists to go independent. If you go on MySpace, you will see thousands of very talented recording artists that are unsigned. Don’t bother sending a maj Read more:Record

Songwriters and Publishers make the most Money 2007-11-09 15:26:39 Being a performer is less profitable than being a songwriter. What good does it do, to be famous if you don’t get paid well? There are only two people that make the most money, songwriters and publishers. I would recommend writing more songs to have a better future. That way you get more money. Every time they play your song on the radio, you get paid. Hence, YOUR SONG. And what ever you do, do not hire people that give you empty promises. They will just ride your coat tail. Learn to be versatile in the music industry.

Without Music Promotion Digital Distribution Means Nothing 2007-11-06 03:59:41 There are many digital distribution websites. Only a few actually help you in music promotion. That is what we do here at the New Artist Review. If you submit your artist or band to our music directory, we will create a page for you. This will allow you or your friends to write a music review. Cold Heat gets constant play on my stereo because the songs are
absolutely moving. I LOVE dancing to the entire album. Songs like Drop, Does
Everybody Do It, and Hop, Skip & a Jump have an extra sexy vibe that
gets the party goin’. Hollar Back and Why Don’t You Love Me are deeply
touching and the latter has moved me to tears more than once. That’s some
raw pain y’all! But it hurts so good I just love it! Do your self a
favor and pick this one up. It’s the complete package with strong sexy
vocals, soulful deep lyrics, bold and vicious beats…all blended into
a rich, funky, stunning work of art.

John Griffin - Music Review - 11-20-2007 2007-11-20 10:45:15
Date: 11/20/2007
Author: Jennifer
Artist: John Griffin
Website: http://www.myspace.com/shesangelicallychallenged
John Griffin is a breath of fresh air, a departure from
the usual manufactured sounds of most current artists on the charts
these days. His sound is soulful, genuine, and honest. His lyrics are
straight from his heart and puts the listener right in the middle of the
story his song is trying to tell. His melodies are flawless and simple,
not over the top or laden with too many mixers. I could sit and listen
to John Griffin all day. I’ve seen him perform and he puts the same
qualities into his performance that he puts into writing his music. I am
truly surprised that he hasn’t been signed or that no major artist has
picked up on his music. They are missing out on many possibilities for a
hit.
