Beyonce brought to you by Accenture
2007-10-26 08:46:00
Yes. You read that right. I know it doesn't have any link with Technology as such, so does the entire Beyonce gig about to happen in India. What makes Accenture endorse such an event is still wondering me. I tried to tweak the thing. See,the thing is Google Adsense says:And I tried to hit the URL not through adsense. And well, as expected, it had no signs of Beyonce anywhere. I could not hit my own adsense ad , and so what I did was search "Beyonce in India" on Google. The first result as expected again, was the same Google Adsense ad. I hit the Link , and found this page.True. High performance.Delivered. Hehehe. The Accenture connection. Technically Bootylicious. Bay-beh!!!

Surprise.Microsoft Profited.
2007-10-26 07:52:00
Yes. NY Times has the full report. But that's for all those who want to dig deep down how they did it? The news is" THEY DID IT". Even after an Operating System "upgrade" after 5 years which sells for a ridiculous price tag, a system hardware requirement which sucks in more resources than the best vacuum cleaner in the market could, and yyes, even after the slaughter of the Zune. NY TIMES reports that the Redmond guys have earned 1.1 billion $ more this quarter, and the profits have rose by 23%.Shockingly enough, the major 'loser' in the Microsoft Umbrella has been its internet sites.

Gmail iMap Enabled?
2007-10-25 09:50:00
Ok , the entire blogosphere is going gaga over just 3 things. The Leopard Launch, the Microsoft Facebook Deal of 240 million bucks , and the third one -Gmail getting IMap enabled. But well, it doesn't seem to be enabled for me yet.I have 3 gmail Ids and well only one of them is enabled.(Why I have 3 separate email IDs is a different story altogether. Well, one is for my friends and stuff, one for my jobsearch, and one for my blogs, my subscription to different websites etc etc). The interesting thing is the mail ID which has IMAP enabled has the least inbox space.I even asked a whole bunch of people who have Gmail IDs (and trust me, its not just a bunch of people), and mostly haven't seen the IMAP link. So is Gmail rolling it out in phases? We have to wait and watch. For all those who don't trust me, here's a screen dump of my IMAP enabled Gmail.P.S. IMAP isn't another Apple thingie.

Facebook equals 15 billion USD
2007-10-25 05:04:00
Okay,so you must have read it by now splashed all over at infinite technology blogs and industry news websites. I'm talking about the Microsoft's deal with Facebook . Yep, 240 million USD for 1.5% of the Facebook Pie. That puts Facebook at an estimated total valuation of 15 billion $. Hmm.! Ok,industry experts believe that either Microsoft backed out of buying a larger piece( speculations were that Microsoft was going for a 750 million $ deal), or Facebook doesn't want to go all the way to sell out to the control freaks from Redmond. The blog here believes that the deal with Microsoft would bring more harm than benefit to the Facebook universe. Well, he does believe in lot other things too. Wired has cited 3 reasons why Microsoft underpaid . Interesting read.So what does the whole deal mean? What changes will we able to see in the new Facebook? Will Facebook feature a Live Search engine? Will we have flash videos popping up with ads on msn and other msn products? Will Facebook have an

Happy Birthday iPod 6.0
2007-10-24 07:58:00
Believe it or not. The white cutie, or the white giant is 6 years old. And what a journey has it been. I don't care what the critics say, but this is the thing which made Apple what it is today. Yes, I said that out loud. Not the iMac, not the iBook, not even the iPhone. It is the iPod . Well, you can say the iPod Nano to be precise. But well, lets not get caught into technicality and just rejoice this moment of 6 musical years. And what better way to do that than watch the numero uno keynote of the iPod. Mr.Jobs in his usual black turtleneck and denims, and well, his trademark comments and statistics. I just loved watching it AGAIN.

iPhone unlocked in France?
2007-10-23 12:53:00
Okay, the US telecom laws are different from France 's(like many other laws). In the US, mobile phones may be unlocked but phone operators are not legally obliged to assist you. However in France, according to a by-law passed on the 17th of November 1998 phone operators are obliged to unlock your phone, for a cost during the first 6 months of a contract but for free after the initial 6 months. You say, how Cupertino is gonna come into terms with that? This is how. iPhone is launching in France on Orange on Nov.29th. Orange will be obliged by law to provide SIM-unlock codes for free 6 month into any contract. So on on May 29 2008, 6 months after the introduction in France, Apple will be endorsing SIM-free iPhones. So,will May 29,2008 be the day I shall buy my iPhone without the cracks and anySIMfree, and completely without worries of any firmware upgrades?Time and Jobs will tell.

Apple Q4 Revelations
2007-10-23 12:33:00
Apple's Q4 revelations have stated a lot of interesting numbers. We have all been waiting for these numbers since the June launch of the much-awaited Gadget of the Year, the iPhone. And here we go.It is official. Apple shipped 1,119,000 iPhones in Q4 2007 which ended on Sep 29th. They are the fourth largest in cellphone sales in the US and that is a feat achieved in less than 4 months. So the grand total number of iPhones sold till date will be (according to Apple inc.) 1,389,000 since launch(Apple sold 270,000 iPhones in the first 30 hours). For the complete official figures list, go here.Other revelations include,Apple COO Tim Cook qouting a figure of 250,000 iPhones sold solely to crackers and iPhone unlockers. No points guessing that the huge raise in the figure happened after the 200$ reduction in price.

Bad Vista!!
2007-10-22 01:06:00
Ok. You've already read it a zillion times by now. And I might just sound resonating with the already heard voices screaming out their lungs in pain against the new OS,Windows Vista .The new OS from the Redmond guys, after a 5 and a half year hiatus since XP,(the Kai-Ro project as they call it), and a zillion beta releases and corresponding names ranging from Whistler to Longhorn to what not, Vista was released to a limited fanfare (I assume). But it wouldn't be wrong that geeks worldwide have trashed and bashed the new OS more than Windows Me to the length of calling it a crap-a-load-of-unwanted-shit. At a requirement of a GB of RAM,15 GB Hard Drive Space and a whole list of unwanted features which not only drag your PC experience, what'd be the justification from Mr.Gates' side, I really wonder.Simply put its a grossly obese OS which demands more than a Page 3 celebrity and well does not perform as well as it should.I wake up in the middle of the night imagining the kind of nightma

i-Hate
2007-10-18 13:51:00
Yeah! you read that right.Someone did write an entire article stating reasons( well justified ones) of why he hates Macs so much. This guy goes by the name David Ramel,e-mail newsletter/Networking channel editor at Computerworld. He begins:~My boss just said we're moving to Macs. I don't know if he was serious, but it might really happen -- he's a bona-fide, born-again Mac zealot, after decades of using real computers (he even had his own, successful Windows-centric newsletter).I joked that I'll switch to a Mac after they pry the PC from my cold, stiff fingers. In reality, I'll just go along with the program and lose about 30% in productivity.I hate Macs. The picture above is just an illustration and not the picture of Mr.Ramel. All said and done,I don't know what problem he has with Steve Jobs' black turtleneck . He calls Mr.Jobs , a rockstar wanna-be. Ok! Apple fans take notice. Retaliate. This is what he said:~I hate everything Apple -- starting with rock star wanna-be Steve Job

StumbleUpon: Better than Digg
2007-10-18 03:25:00
Yes, in every form. My site's traffic has gone high radically. Am experiencing a new high as I'm getting more and more readers to read me stuff. Well, not entirely technological. But yeah, StumbleUpon rules. The topic based searching, the Firefox Add-on toolbar, and well random page browsing. It is so very much feature rich, and I loved it. More than Digg . What can I say? I can't keep away from the internet now.

Facebook under pressure
2007-10-30 13:15:00
It seems that Facebook is under tremendous pressure. We are used to the donuts page reading Bad Bad Server on orkut.com. And well, not surprisingly, facebook has certain limitations too. I tried searching for blogging communities on facebook, and this is what showed. The server load of the number of hits at that instant must have hit a high, especially after the 240 million $ deal.(Why especially, c'mon THINK!) I wish Facebook was error free.Another bug apparently is, the browsing experience gets a bit too techie at times. What I mean is, when one hits a particular link, at times, you get a glimpse of the code lying underneath. You know the java classes being called, and the jsps being displayed. Hehehe. I even got hold of this error-Trust me.Seems the guys at FB have still a long way to go.C'mon guys, we are counting on you.

Gmail 2.0
2007-10-30 09:52:00
Ok, this is front page news. Amidst the announcement of Leopard's 2 million plus sales in its first weekend, Google actually managed to steal the thunder. Google is apparently announcing the next gen , or the next version of Gmail . Google had announced their interest in releasing auser-friendlier Gmail on Analyst Day. The details are on this link here. Some folks are able to see a link near the Settings link on their gmail Page which reads: Newer Version. The URL is https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2 which would point to the newer version. But apparently, and as expected, it doesn't work for me. My Gmail ID is still not Version 2 ready. Or for that matter IMAP ready as well (I am not over it yet. I feel so deprived.)How long will I have to wait for this one?Pics Courtesy:NickStarr

World's richest Man
2007-10-29 12:56:00
By the time I post this , I am sure it would already be termed as the news of the day. That's ok. I ain't here to be the first one to post like those bloody news channels on air. I am here just to well, BLOG.Anyway, so you must have heard the news. The World 's Richest man is ...hold it...Mukesh Ambani,Chairman of Reliance Industries. Now the question is, why is this news being featured on a Tech Blog. The answer my friend is because Mr.Ambani surpassed ex-No.1 Microsoft head-honcho( we know who).Following a strong share price rally on in his three group companies, India's most valued firm Reliance Industries, Reliance Petroleum and Reliance Industrial Infrastructure, the net worth of Mukesh Ambani rose to $63.2 billion (Rs 2,49,108 crore). Here is what the list says. The five richest people in the world with their net worth1. Mukesh Ambani ($63.2 billion)2. Carlos Slim Helu ($62.2993 billion)3. William (Bill) Gates ($62.29 billion)4. Warren Buffett ($55.9 billion)5. Lakshmi Mittal ($

Why Digg Sucks
2007-10-29 09:42:00
You'd say I'm just whinin after the entire digg fiasco chapter that hit me. I must admit that my Monday hasn't been cheerful at all. I felt like a pirate or a thief who tried to steal something. Only, I don't know what I stole. Its almost 8:15 pm in the night, and I tried searching if anyone has also been a victim to the Dig of Digg . And this is what I found. Jennifer Laycock from SearchEngineGuide has posted a wonderful post which made my night a bit better than my day. In this post, linked here she has posted some of the reasons why skipping digg makes sense.I would like to share some. The title goes as :Social Bookmarking: Skip Digg and Go Niche She states the reasons to skip digg as~Digg has a very hostile user base; niche sites have supportive onesDigg is not transparent; we don't know why some stories get buriedWell, I do second those views. For the whole list go to the link here.Well there are other reasons too. Like most of the digg hits are for celeb gossips blogs like TM

Digg Banned me
2007-10-28 23:03:00
It comes to me as a shock, a pretty big one on an early Monday morning. Digg .com has just banned my account. I really don't know what is the reason. I have dropped them a mail for the issue. But I've got no reply as of now. I will have to wait for just another day or two. And probably remove the "digg it" link from my blogs. I am really really upset.Because I don't recall any step taken by me which violated the T&C of Digg. This is friggin' ridiculous.Bye Digg. You spent me up like money and hunge me out to dry.The other bookmarking sites, here I come.
