The survey was conducted by Forrester. Here are some of the key results of the survey. As expected, Windows XP remains one of the biggest obstacles to the acceptance of the Vista.Out of 600 US and European companies ,employing a minimum of 1000 employees each, which participated in the survey, 84 % of their PCs were running on Windows XP.The survey also said:.....Ninety percent of 961 IT professionals surveyed said they have concerns about migrating to Vista and more than half said they have no plans to deploy Vista.Well Santa, send some Christmas Love to Redmond!!

5 Rumors for the Black Friday
2007-11-20 09:22:00
Ok! So the Black Friday is almost here and well, its time for people to queue up early in the morning in front of their favorite gizmo store. So, how about cooking up some rumors for this Black Friday instead of some Turkey eh!So here I go!1:Facebook joins Opensocial, and well Google links up Gmail user IDs to it. Those who already are logging in Facebook via Gmail email IDs, get an invite to a Gmail/Google Facebook exclusive group/app.2:iPhone launches back the 4 GB model. Sold for 250$. Wait! I've got a better one. Steve shows Woz a big hug, and tells him that iPhone is going the Open way. As in, no more lock! Free,Free,Free!!!!!!! So all those minds occupied by keywords like unbricking, jailbreak et al, can just sit down, stretch their legs and eat Turkey.3:Glenn Wolsey admits that he was the one who hacked his own site. ie. Glenn Wolsey is malcor.4: eBay sells Skype to Yahoo!5:Digg finally unbanns me. How I miss digging!!Too much to digest for now. Shall be back with a real post s

Gmail Hack Post: Search by Language
2007-11-20 09:12:00
I found this on a blog on zdnet and well, I'll save the surprise for the end. Apparently Gmail allows to search by language. Yes. Here's the trick how. Search the following in the search bar-“language:”.e.g. If you want to search for German, you can type in "language:german" minus the quotes. Now for the surprise! English isn't supported yet by Gmail. ROTFL.This simple search in Gmail shows you messages it believes is written in German or Spanish whatever.Original article linked here.

The prelaunch beta which had been leaked previously, is finally here for its first official beta test. For those who are looking around with no bulbs glowing whatsoever, I'm talking about Firefox 3 beta v1 released officially today. They all might not be supported on the New Firefox. Peace!

What is that fuss about Amazon's Kindle?
2007-11-19 22:52:00
Just hit Techmeme now(ie 11/20/2007, 1020 hrs IST) and what you'll find is that the first half of page is occupied by Amazon 's new paid ebook reader named as Kindle.More on the name a bit later. So what is so revolutionary about this new gadget kid on the block? It reads ebooks, rss feeds, blogs, e-magazines, enables you to download all of 'em in less than a minute without any internet, wi-fi, or PC connection by using a wireless network called Amazon Whispernet which is something on the lines of a cellular phone network service, which means this is available only in the US(but of course). Display as bright and crisp as paper, ie is clearly viewable even in strong sunlight unlike LCD displays in all portable handheld devices. No monthly bills, only 9.99$ per book download from a library of 90,000 strong Amazon Library. Now more of the official specs is available in the press release.Costs a bummer at 399$ for just an ebook reader! Now what they didn't tell you at the release specs.PDF

Over with CAT-Time for the Blog to Roll
2007-11-19 08:47:00
After the disastrous performance at my attempt to become a manager,ie.CAT 2007 ,I am reminded of only one song and ie. ..But life still goes on,...I can't get used to living without living without...Living without you by my side.Anyway, time to get back to Technology. God, Internet has been buzzing with all crazy news from all ends. Facebook entering China , Amazon with a paid "blog reader?",Google Magazine, Mininova hitting the 1 millionth torrent upload, 17 newspapers join Yahoo.....phew!!! Lemme take a breather! Shall be back with the normal updates soon, very soon. I still need some time for myself to get back to normal as I'm recovering from the trauma of Nov 18th, also known in India as CAT 2007. I promise, Techkeyla will be back in a blink.

Youtube bans Anti-torture activist's account
2007-11-28 06:57:00
There is a thin line between showing gore and graphic violence and displaying sentiments of anti-torture. Probably, it is a thin line which Youtube hasn't been able to comprehend. According to this article from Reuters, Youtube banned the account of prominent Egyptian anti-torture activist Wael Abbas. Abbas had uploaded close to 100 images to the Google owned Video publishing website, depicting police brutality and anti-government demonstrations. Abbas told to Reuter's on a phone interview ,They closed it (the account) and they sent me an e-mail saying that it will be suspended because there were lots of complaints about the content, especially the content of tortureRights activists however think that by Youtube suspending this account have actually done more wrong than right. Abbas' account was a very important platform of information on Human rights violation and abuses.

Green Google, in'deed' !!!
2007-11-27 22:26:00
Google has been all over the Tech Pages this year. And when the year is about to round up, things are just not over yet. Larry Page, Co-Founder and President of Products of Google Inc. today revealed Google's interests in substituting traditional fuels to renewable ones.Of course, the challenge here is to meet the economic viability of using clean, renewable sources of energy. Solar Energy is one the areas they want to focus specially on. To quote Mr.Page,Our goal is to build 1 gigawatt of renewable energy capacity that is cheaper than coal. We are optimistic that this can be done within years, not decades. If we succeed, it would likely provide a path to replacing a substantial portion of the world’s electricity needs with renewable energy sources. To read more on this, go here, here and here.

Mixx downtime: 502 error
2007-11-26 13:22:00
Mixx has been gaining popularity at a rate so rapid, that its servers haven't been able to handle the traffic. I suppose ever since that post on Techcrunch happened, Mixx's popularity has just shot sky high, which has resulted it to look like this.I think the guys at Mixx seriously need to look into the capacity issues and buckle their seat belts, coz the traffic is just gonna shoot high, and if they want that user satisfaction they wanna boast off, and of course keep their loyal users happy, this should be considered first priority.P.S. It's 1:00am here in India, and I am blogging. Unfortunately, I can't mixx it now. Better luck next time.

The update from their end is that a Note has been added to the gOS page,as shown below.Cool by me! No complaints further. Pretty prompt response I say.

Okay, I have been looking forward to this for quite some time. And it is this. No need to download the GTalk client. Group Chat Enabled, Proper Smileyes( although limited compared to the Yahoo IM), and tabbed chat windows. All this on the new Talk Gadget from Gmail. Have a look at the Screenshot below. The link is here: http://www.google.com/talk/#Go to the page and click on the link which reads Launch Google Talk Gadget. And you are ready to go. If you are already logged into Gmail, or any google Service, you'll be logged in directly. Don't know if everyone actually has explored this already or have I just revealed my ignorance. Doesn't matter.Only thing it lacks from the client is the Voice Chat facility. Sujoy, stop sounding so demanding.Lemme have a moment for myself. Yippeeeee!!!Keep chatting!

Why is Digg bashing so popular on Mixx?
2007-11-26 08:27:00
Have a look at the pattern of the popular stories Mixxed today as of now. You'd find a pretty predictable feature in almost 4 out of the top 10 stories featuring on Page 1 of Mixx. And that is, but obviously of how Digg sucks big time, and how Mixx is far superior. It is ok to have that point made, and we have already seen that through articles on Techcrunch and the like. But the point I want to drive home is, isn't it clear enough now. Isn't it making things a bit awkward and childish that the top most voted stories on Mixx, are well mostly about Digg bashing and Mixx praising. We all love Mixx, and so just let's move on from yesterday's stale headlines and review the new ones. That's the reason why we moved on from Digg in the first place, right?Yeah! Of course, this post itself sounds like another attention seeker, craving for a place on the first page. So, will you vote?

Google is the g in gOS.So says Mahalo
2007-11-26 05:50:00
Mahalo.com, the human powered search engine, has enlisted gOS, the Linux distribution based on Ubuntu, under the name Google Operating System. If you go to this link ( as in search for Open Source Software Category), you will be able to see the page shown below. As per the disclaimer on the gOS official website, it is not affiliated with Google or their partners(See screenshot below). So, has the public misconception crept in the Human powered search engine as well.

Top 5 Spam: Or Bottom 5?
2007-11-25 06:42:00
Have you ever followed that there is a weird pattern followed by the spam mail in your inbox. Every 6th spam is about a genital enlargement procedure advertisement. The first spam in your inbox has a subject title starting with Re: disguising it as a reply to a previous message. Scroll down to the last spam mail on your inbox page 1, and it would ask you for a free subscription to a Poultry magazine worth 100$. How cool is that? And yes, I made all of them up. I mean the pattern, not the spam. We all get annoyed by spam, once it creeps into our inbox, there's no leaving. Makes me wonder, how on earth did they find me. Here's a list of the top 5 frequenters on my inbox spam mail( on Gmail 2.0 ie). In no specific order whatsoever, starting with no.55: Do you want to enlarge your Pe..:You get it!4:Euro Million Lottery: Yippee, I've just won a zillion dollars by now. So says the 1005th mail from these Euro Lottery guys.3:Nigeria, the legend continues: The Nigeria fake mail inheritance sy

Techcrunch Sandwich on Mixx
2007-11-25 06:31:00
The last 24 hrs have been wonderful for Techkeyla. Since the 5 reasons review of Mixx, I have been flooded with appreciation mails and comments from all across.I even received a comment from Will at Mixx asking me for what opinions I had on the service of Mixx and what could make it even better. Well, more on that shall be covered in a post coming soon. But for now, lemme just enjoy this moment. Thanks to all those who commented and voted for the post. The best part is the 5 reasons review of Mixx got featured on the Page 1 of Mixx, and not only that, it was sandwiched between two posts on Techcrunch, which were about Mixx. Have a look at the pic below. I have also saved the Page 1 pic for you guys and of course for me to enjoy. Woohooo. Thanks Mixx and well, shall be back with my opinions and may be an updated review of Mixx, soon.

How addicted to Blogging are You?
2007-11-24 12:30:00
I asked this question to myself, and the answer was as vague as , well, pretty much, I mean, if I have a dream, I'm sure I'll be writing it down somewhere, if not on my blog. If I see a cow crossing the road, and a bus stops 3 inches away from it, I click a pic to post it on my other blog, or for that matter if I see a funny pic at my work toilet, I put it up too( of course in my other blog). So, well, I am pretty much a Blog addict, not to mention that I need to write about Technology, almost about 3 out of 5 of the headlines on Techmeme. But,well these guys at JustsayHi have made me look really like a DORK. Quantitatively!!! I took this test, and here is how I faired.87%How Addicted to Blogging Are You?You tell me,is that true? And of course post in your figures too! There are other tests too, such as How Addicted to Apple are you, or some other creepy ones which I won't mention on a Tech Blog.

Stumble Upon multiplied My Traffic Exponentially, I mean exploded
2007-11-24 11:21:00
First and foremost, I'm not here to promote Stumble Upon in any way and the SU guys didn't pay me to do this. I'm simply here to give my heartfelt gratitude to SU for giving me my audience, the reader base, that Techkeyla today can 'boast of'. Seriously boast of. Initially when this blog started( on the 2nd Oct,2007), I had not included the SU icon with my posts, and was busy Diggin'. As usual, I was quite happy with the normal 2 to 3 diggs per day, and the usual traffic has been approx 15-20 hits a day. It all got revolutionised after SU came into the picture. The first month was however was a bit steady with an average of around 100 hits per day. If I were to reveal the traffic figures now, my blog gets an average of 1200 to 1500 hits a day, with almost 500-700 unique visitors a day (figures from MyBlogLog), and my most read posts get a hit of the range of the range of 300 upwards. Like this post on Playstation Phone, got 398 hits in a day.All thanks to StumbleUpon. I thank yo

Is your Office going LIVE?
2007-11-24 06:40:00
You must have already read about this. Sabeer Bhatia, of Hotmail fame(which he sold to Micro$oft for 400 million USD), formed a new company called InstaColl and joined hands with ThinkFree,Google,Yahoo,LinkedIn and Adobe to rival with the Market Giant in Office Software Suites-Microsoft themselves. It is called Live Documents (quite ironic though, as MS has been carrying on with the Live thing. Will they end up buying this too?)The link is here for you to check it out.Although, the website doesn't satisfy at all, as in no tours about the products and no screenshots. It is too much text, text, text. It's invite only as of now, which I ended up requesting. So what does it offer actually, or what is it about. I'll leave you with the desrciption from the official website. Live Documents is a full-featured suite of online Office productivity applications offering functionality equivalent to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Built using RIA technologies such as Flash and Flex, Live Documents a

5 Reasons: Why I love Mixx
2007-11-24 06:06:00
Mixx has been around for a couple of months now( even though it may be known as a Beta), and well, to many it may look like yet another clone of Digg, to me it is so much more than just that. Others may even say it is a cross between Digg ,LinkedIn and MyYahoo.Anyway, coming straight to the point, ie why is Mixx one of my favorite social bookmarking site( StumbleUpon tops the charts hands down, but well, we'll do that post a bit later). Here are the 5 reasons for you to chew on!1.It has been only a few months since Mixx was launched, and so, even if many people are joining in right now, it still makes me a part of the elite early birdies. What does this mean? It means, I get to be considered as one of the early Mixxers. How does it help? I really hope the admins do credit us early birdies for spreading the message in their own special way. That's a surprise we can hope for. It's always cool to be the first ones eh!2.No Captcha: One really great thing which Mixx has, or rather doesn'

MyBlogLog Bug
2007-12-04 12:17:00
Yeah! Things have been acting quite funny with MyBlogLog these days. The Site Stats only shows the stats of the previous day. All other previous days are shown completely blank, as clean as a clean slate wiped off by a wet cloth. Have a look at it.Is anyone facing the same problem, or is MyBlogLog treating me specially?

When Mixx naps
2007-12-03 08:23:00
If you guys are in the US, you must be hardly noticing this. But when Mixx has a downtime, it has replaced the previous default error page to a new design "Nap" Page, which is so damn cute! I for one, am lucky, or rather unlucky to have got this, quite a number of times. Check it out for yourself.Learn Digg, LEARN!!

Good December for Techkeyla, I hope
2007-11-30 20:38:00
Okay, I got a comment from Joetech in my previous post that the Google Ads are now visible. Thanks Joe for the comment. Not only that, I have apparently won the Blog of the Day Awards for Nov 30th. Don't remember when I sent the nominations or did I? Anyway, feels always good to win an award, be it virtual. Yeah, yeah,I'm an attention whore you say. LOL. So here is the code of the badge as promised.December has started on a very positive note, and hope things will go really cool and smooth for Techkeyla as I post more stories, more reviews and of course Tech Opinions on the year's events as the curtains close for the year. Here's Cheers to all the readers of Techkeyla, and to those who haven't read it so far, c'mon join the bandwagon.

BIG GOOG. One question for you.
2007-11-30 01:09:00
This has already become a frontpage news by now. But more than that, among bloggers, who are the symbols of freedom of expression in todays world, the question is fast arising as to does it really exist when big Industry giants like Google and Yahoo are curtailing them at their will. My previous story on the Wael Abbas story got a long long comment a blogger by the name Polymathy( read his post here or just go to the comments of my previous post ). Is democracy shrinking into being just a word which is used and thrown by the biggies like Youtube and Google and Yahoo? A few lines from Polymathy's post.'Here's the great contribution in your power to make,' someone hissed. 'Only you will know. It's a dangerous mission, and your business might suffer from the bad publicity. But guys,' the sibilant voice continued, ‘this is a time of war, and it would not do to ignite a controversy in Egypt to distract us in the eve of great talks between Israel and Palestine.’I'd conclude with

The Gmail story, the Youtube way
2007-12-12 02:47:00
Gmail has been going a series of changes in the last couple of days, some really radical while some not so much.Like the entirely new version with not so very new features, an indifferent loading speed difference from the previous version, now boasts of group chats and emoticons with yellow icons. All of this of course, not for the IE and Opera guys. Safari?yeah right! Anyway, the good thing I noticed with the new Gmail is, that they have introduced a kind of notifier which appears on your inbox page. This notifier ( in a dark maroon shade next to your Settings link) notifies the user of all the new things that the Gmail guys have been upto.Of course, you can directly head to the Gmail official blog also. But a new functionality always helps. Nevertheless, the latest in the pipeline is the Gmail story .The guys at Gmail are encouraging people to tell their own Gmail story the Youtube way. Of course, Google owns both. My question is, will the next generation of blogging be Youtube, when
