Half Iron Man
2008-03-08 12:24:22
This is our son.  The local newspaper "Home Town Weekly" did the article.  We are so proud of him and what he has accomplished.  God has been good and it wasn't easy when he battled this disease.  He is doing this half Iron Man because of an 8 year old boy who has battled and it is not looking good.  We are praying for a miracle for this little boy still.  Chris is doing this for not just one boy but all the boys and girls who are battling this disease.  You can read his words which are  better than mine.Q and ANeedham Police Sgt. Needham is hot!Where our Town Needham stands.  I would say ...Needham is hot.  Well in the town of Needham property increased 17.9.% over the past 5 years.  According to Boston Magazine there are 29 neighborhoods and towns that are holding their value.  You would never know it if your only listened to the news.  All bad news all the time.  Except for yesterday I heard a quote on the News that the National Association of Realtors said that there seems to be recovery coming. "According to research done by Municipal Benchmarking, which studied Needham against Lexington and Wellesley, and 17 other communities, Needham ranks 4 in MCAS scores."1 There is so much bang for the buck.  This is why the market keeps strong and yes there homes in a

You can just imagine what is on our minds with the SuperBowl coming.  This YouTube video preceeded our office meeting yesterday.  May the best team win.  God bless both teams.  I haven't checked the list of Open Houses for Sunday but there probably won't be many due to the pre-game activities.  As an aside, the market seems to have kicked in.  Much more activity compared to last few months.  We may be having an early spring market.  Owners, for the most part, are being sensible with proper price positoning them in the current market so that they will not be on the market forever.        Pat Baker, Licensed Real Estate Broker, Associate of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage of Needham, MA Buyer's Agent and Seller's Agent in the Needham, MA area along with Boston Suburbs

My laptop is ailing
2008-01-30 20:27:34
Just don't know when I will get my poor sick laptop back.  Miss it so bad.  I am in my office just checking emails and stuff.I will be back blogging when the laptop returns. It is in the good hands of the Geek Squad.  I had a Trojan, then a worm and by the time I got it to the Geeks a bio-hazardsign was on the screen  They assured me that they could fix it.  Yes, I do update spy-ware & virus but I had interrupted both this weekend.  Big mistake evidently.  The big guns were out there. It is like deja vu.  About 5 years ago my computer crashed just before I was going to send off my taxes to the CPA.  Lost everything.  It was nuts.  I did get the taxes done though. Now it is about that time and everything is in my laptop but I do h

Funny Stories
2008-01-26 22:43:43
Yesterday I took a course and some of the attendees had some funny stories I thought I would share a couple of  them while I still remember them. The first one goes like this:  The agent went to give her market analysis to the owner.  He said that the 2-Family was worth at least a million.  Her price was half that.  He insisted he would take nothing less. The background on this house was that he had a large snake in apartment, rats in the basement and in the rented apartment an ex-con.The second story was an animal story as well.  These people has lots of pets.  One of those pets was a talking bird, I think a cockatiel.  The agent asked them to remove the taking bird for the Open House.  Well, they did not and the bird did a lot of talking which

Morning Up-Time
2008-01-24 19:26:14
Since my mother passed away in August, the holidays, and surgery on my knee I have not been doing very much uptime or I give what I have away.  I have been busy doing real estate but not necessarily doing a whole lot of up-time.  I have asked those agents that have been on how it is been and the answer often times is "quiet."  Today was quite interesting for a Thursday lately.  The phones were ringing.  I got a cell phone call from a client I hadn't wanted to look at properties in 6 months.  He wants to start looking again.  I got an up-call and that turned into an appointment. My partner on the desk got 2 up-calls and an appointment this afternoon.I was really encouraged to see that much activity between 9 and 1 on a Thursday morning.

Here Goes My MeMe - Be kind
2008-01-10 21:46:30
Hope I did this right but here goes....  I was tagged  by Tana Hunt to do a meme on myself.  I am not sure of how to do this but here goes.  She thought her meme was boring but I am sure mine is. I was born  in Chelsea, Massachusetts and lived in a beautiful section of East Boston so you can say I am a Bostonian.  My parents were raised in Boston too. I was the first and then came my brother 3 years later and my sister Denise 5 more years later.   All but my first 7 years I lived in the suburbs of Boston and the last 43 in Needham, MA.  When I lived in the city of Boston I lived on the other side of Logan Airport.  I could literally walk across the street to swim at Shay's Beach everyday in the summer months.  It was great.  I don&

In My Lifetime
2008-01-01 20:13:27
It came to me via my husband that in my life time which as of December 10th of 60 years lots of things have changed and some didn't exist in any form, ha, ha, ha but that is OK I am celebrating because it is better than the alternative: Phones became portable - Do you remember the phone in a bag?  Whenever I think of that I crack up.  I think that was in the early 90’s. I was always first to have whatever.  I went back further for this pic to the Motorola Cooper.  Couldn't find a bag phone.  thank God they were short-lived. I had an accident when I first got it.  I heard it ring got distracted and anyway it all turned out ok.  Just a minor accident.  I am wiser now, of course.  I was a mere 41 then. Oh my!

The Stock Dividends & Herbie McIntosh
2008-03-13 14:31:17
Now I came to Needham in 1965.   There was a town resident named Herbie McIntosh (originally spelled MacIntosh).    Herbie was quite old when I first saw him walking up Great Plain Avenue from his home close to the Wellesley line.  He would walk closer to the ground, it seemed every time I saw him.  He would walk to the Post Office in the center of town and side on the large window sill in the old post office on Chestnut Street.  As he sat opening mail, which was one dividend after another, as the story goes.  It would be 5 feet high.  This very old man would walk with him brief case.  I really don't know how he could carry that and himself.Herbie had attended Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts and he became a lawyer.  I

Favorite or Where to Live
2008-05-10 15:53:08
We have been renovating our home for quite some time. I don't even want to tell you how long.  Sometimes I think we will just get it done and sell it but lately I have had a new thinking. I love my home and where it is located. I love busy street, the four bedrooms, the family room off the kitchen.  The new floors that will be going in and the new drapes I will be hanging up.  The new furniture, lamps and kitchen I am going to purchase.  This is going to be a showplace but in the meantime I am loving it just the way it is.  I am glad that I have had this long experience with doing our home.  I can appreciate it more and I can help my clients too if they have similar experiences.  In my estimation, there are 2 great streets in Needham that I would love to

I am working on office stuff at the moment between showings and started to think of how things have changed since the summer of 1979 when I came into real estate.  We
