Beating the House--Week 8 2007-10-27 08:55:00 Another mediocre week for me in the books...heartbreaker in Houston where I thought we'd steal one unti Bironas' 8th FG as time expired...also, the Skins barely showed up and I expected Rattay to start when making my selection...good call on the Bills winning outright and sticking with the Pats each and every time...for the trick-or-treat edition, let's try to scare up some winners (I'm

POWERHOUSE Pick-Ups - Week 8 2007-10-23 17:38:00 Draft day is crucial to the success of any fantasy football team, but as we all know injuries and busts are part of the game. Unless you supplement your roster with quality free agents, playoffs will not be in your future. Each an every Tuesday I will be highlighting players likely to be free agents in your league that can help your teams going forward.

Ronnie Brown - Out For The Season 2007-10-22 13:07:00 The Miami Herald is reporting that RB RonnieBrown
will miss the remainder of the 2007 NFL season after suffering a knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. Allegedly the MRI that he underwent today confirmed it.
Jesse Chatman is a must-add.
The Herald brings up an interesting question of whether the Dolphins should bring back Ricky Williams. Personally, I can't see it, but it is an

Ronnie Frown - Injury News 2007-10-21 17:36:00 Miami RB Ronnie
Brown left his game against the Patriots in the third quarter and did not return.
He left the stadium in an air cast on his right leg, and at this time the Dolphins are calling it a sprained knee.
X-Rays allegedly came back negative, but more will be known after he gets a MRI on Monday.
Expect Jesse Chatman to be the hot waiver grab heading into Week 8.

Play Action - Week 7 2007-10-20 10:41:00 Rapidly approaching the midway point of the NFL season, the pretenders and the contenders of both the NFL world as well as the Fantasy world are starting to separate.
Another excellent video blog from The King is below this, if you haven't done so already, you owe it to yourself to watch, and to take a look at the Fantasy Chatter forums that are linked over to the right of this post.

Beating the House--Week 7 2007-10-19 20:19:00 I have to start off by saying that I neglected to make two changes last week due to time constraints...and being ridiculously hungover...came to my senses and reversed my Dolphins call to Cleveland covering and also made the Patriots my "pick of the week" as I forgot to plug that in...had a respectable showing that made up for the Week 5 disastro totale...for you fans of this site and FANTASY

More Surgery for Javon Walker 2007-10-18 17:56:00 Denver WR Javon Walker
will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee (the same one that was reconstructed in 2005) on Friday.
Mike Shanahan has stated that Walker will be out for "a few weeks."
The Denver Post reports that it will be four weeks.
This is bad news for the fantasy value of Jay Cutler.
It may or may not give Brandon Marshall a slight bump, although he should see more

Unleashing KJ 2007-10-17 16:17:00 The Detroit Lions have officially confirmed that Kevin Jones will start in Week 7 over Tatum Bell.
Those of you that grabbed KJ late in drafts, or stole him off of waivers are about to be rewarded with a nice RB2. KJ is a constant threat to get injured, but he fits in nicely with Mike Martz's Detroit offense.
In Atlanta, it has been announced that Byron Leftwich will be the starting QB in
Return of K-Rob 2007-10-17 12:22:00 Koren Robinson has been reinstated by the NFL after a year-long substance abuse suspension.
He has been cleared to begin practicing with the Packers immediately.
While this story gets attention, K-Rob shouldn't have any fantasy impact, and you certainly should not drop anybody for him. He is firmly behind Donald Driver, Greg Jennings and James Jones on the WR depth chart in Green Bay. Plus,

Week 6 Fallout 2007-10-16 14:28:00 Week 6 largely avoided major injuries. A first for 2007.
Let's take a look at what did happen.
Vince Young - QB - Tennessee Titans
Young left the game on Sunday with a quadriceps strain. Jeff Fisher is hopeful that Young can play in Week 7, and has stated that there is no need for any surgery. If he can't go, Kerry Collins will start.
Kurt Warner - QB - Arizona Cardinals
The first game after

Major Game Day Inactives - Week 6 2007-10-14 06:50:00 Patriots - The Boston Herald has reported that Laurence Maroney will be inactive for Week 6. Make sure that Sammy Morris is in your lineup. So much for the "smart money". Maroney is confirmed inactive, Morris gets the start.
Browns - Jamal Lewis is out. Jason Wright will start in his place and is an option if you're desperate, since the Dolphins are terrible against the run.
Texans - You

Beating the House--Week 6 2007-10-13 11:07:00 It seems that the picture I posted with last week's article was very fitting indeed...it showed me giving the choke sign during a Texas Hold 'Em game so naturally I proceeded to have a train wreck of a week with my picks...truly one of the worst showings I've ever had...the flip side is, there's nowhere to go but up so let's forge ahead to this week's slate of games...and, just in case, let's

Play Action - Week 6 2007-10-13 08:49:00 Week 6 is arguably the most significant bye week of this season. It is one of two weeks with 6 teams on bye, and this week sees a more substantial impact on Fantasy than Week 8 does.
It's once again time to break down this week's action game-by-game and look at who should help your team, and who to keep on your bench...assuming that you can tear yourself away from The King's excellent video for

Springer Moments? 2007-10-11 21:12:00 News broke today that Pittsburgh RB Najeh "Dookie" Davenport has been charged with domestic violence, endangering his children, and unlawful restraint.
Cleveland police received 3 9-1-1 phone calls from Davenport's house (which is apparently at 1374 E. 115 Street, if you'd like to visit) between 8:45pm and 9:02pm tonight.
The incident was apparently a dispute between Davenport and his baby mama,

Week 5 Fallout 2007-10-09 16:28:00 Mercifully, there wasn't as much carnage in Week 5 as there had been in recent weeks.
Out For The Season:
Matt Leinart - QB - Arizona Cardinals
Former Paris Hilton boy-toy Matt Leinart has been placed in Injured Reserve, ending his season, from a fractured collarbone he sustained in Week 5 against the 49ers. Leinart really did not show much at all this year, but retains a high ceiling

Kickers in Fantasy Football Rant..... 2007-10-09 16:07:00 I now hate you Kris Brown...
Ok time for an article that I wanted to write because of a friend of mine.
Last week while watching Football
my buddy and I were talking about Kickers. He is in the camp of Kickers should not be allowed in Fantasy because it is to much of a crap shoot. Of course I disagreed.
He was all bitter because he lost a game by 2 and his opponent had a Kicker worth 3

Beating The House - Week 5 2007-10-06 10:58:00 Beating the House
--Week 5
A decent week last time out that could have been even better if not for a few surprises...my hat's off to anyone who would have called Arizona, Cleveland, Buffalo and Kansas City all winning outright...such is life on any given Sunday...my pick of the week in Detroit was sketchy until the Lions decided to play in the fourth quarter but it's only the end result that
The Kings Plays of the Week... - Week 5 2007-10-05 21:57:00 Sorry I missed last week readers , I had some CPU issues, but I am all set now. So, per usual, I give you a few under the radar type guys who should put up good weeks. This now has more value since we are in the dreaded bye weeks times. So here we go...
QB:
Jay Cutler is a play I like this week. He is playing a Chargers team who is really struggling VS. the pass. Cutler is likely to be without

POWERHOUSE Pick-Ups Week 9 2007-10-30 18:31:00 The Pats and Colts are rolling, the Dolphins and Rams are reeling, and everyone else is somewhere in between. Week 8 is in the books, and thankfully we have no catastrophic injuries to report. Now on to this weeks pick-ups.

Kellen Clemens, NYJ- We were a bit premature on this guy last week. He has officially been named the J-E-T-S starting QB going forward. Now he did throw a
Week 8 Fallout 2007-10-30 13:54:00 Let's take a look inside the Week 8 NFL action as it pertains to Fantasy Football.
Steven Jackson returned to action and looked to be on his way to a big day with an excellent first quarter. Unfortunately, he only lasted for that one quarter.
Jackson left the game and has a bulging disk in his back, due to his overcompensation for his injured groin. The Rams are on a bye in Week 9 and S-Jax's

Major Injuries - Week 9 2007-11-04 16:36:00 Several major injuries occurred in Week 9.
Let's take a closer look.
Chad Johnson: Ocho Cinco was carried off on a stretcher after going across the middle late and hitting his head hard on the ground. Johnson reportedly had movement in his arms and legs. A CT scan on his neck came back negative, so that is good news. He made the Bengals' flight home, so this doesn't appear to be anything overly

Play Action - Week 9 2007-11-03 13:30:00 As we boldly head into the second half of the 2007 Fantasy Football season, we are given what is being hyped as "The Game of the Century" between the Patriots and the Colts. If this game fails to be anything but a unique combination of "The Catch", This Play, and the end of the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, it will not live up to the hype. Should be an excellent game, both in reality and in fantasy.
