Vista Service Pack 1 in December?
2007-11-30 21:51:00
As Microsoft is prepping an SP3 for Windows XP, the SP1 for Vista is apparently going to be released to selected testers in the first week of December . The SP1 beta 17051 is out already to testers but it's not yet clear that that's the one to be released. The SP1 supposedly adds a speed boost and enhances third-party application compatibility but nothing that you would really notice on your day-to-day experience. But when an operating system boosts its predecessor's sales and holds a place in Top Ten 10 Terrible Tech Products, you gotta start thinking, huh?Source: Engadget

Objectionable
2007-12-05 11:02:00
The All India Council for Suppression of Objectionable Material has released a new book titled "The Comprehensive Digest of Objectionable Material."People cutting across party, religious, caste lines hailed it as India's greatest celebration of its secular tradition. There has recently been wide criticism by members within the council that the idea of objectionable has not been comprehensively dealt with. This book is to counter that criticism. It contains a comprehensive list, their definitions and illustrations, about what is and can be termed objectionable. It makes no distinction and has dealt with all the objections raised by every member of the society. Priced at Rs. 10,000, the book may be considered on the expensive side. But the council members held that the price was reasonable. If we consider the alternative of protests, broken windowpanes, relocation to secret hideouts, and of course withdrawal of objectionable material, this would be considered a far less cumbersom

Live Documents, aping Office 2007?
2007-12-05 04:28:00
Hmm.....Smells like a lawsuit is brewing here. Screenshots taken by Digital Inspiration of Sabeer Bhatia's newest baby, Live Documents , look like a stunning reproduction of Microsoft's Office 2007 complete with the layout, ribbon interface, and also the color schemes utilized, although the question remains whether these screenshots are real.Digital Inspiration is impressed by it though, saying, “The Live Documents interface and feature set looks way ahead of competition from existing online Office suites. And as we have already seen with Buzzword or Picnik, Flex-based browser apps are always a pleasure to work with because once the app gets loaded in the browser, the response is extremely good.”Hope Bhatia doesn't have to pay back what he got from Microsoft selling Hotmail!Source: TechCrunch
