The Horse and I 2007-12-05 11:30:27
Just recently we have been pointed to the fine music act called Bat For Lashes. What a strange band name. But the music is rather good! And we love their video for “What’s a girl to do”, check it out after the break. The music reminds me of many things: a bit of Black Cherry by Goldfrapp (not the dance tracks, though), a hint of Boys For Pele by Tori Amos, some smoke from The Reminder by Feist, some crazy vocals from Kate Bush, and finally a dash of strangeness from Björk- this seems to be their recipe. Their album is called Fur and Gold. More images, audioclips and the video after the jump.

We heart Japanese noodles 2007-12-12 11:40:20
Not only is this Japanese
restaurant extremely nice to look at, it also serves excellent food. The Susuru offers a variety of authentic delicious Japanese noodle soups on a regularly changing menu, as well as some side dishes they refer to as Japanese Tapas. We expecially like Edamame, a small snack consisting of young soy beans in sea salt, the Chicken Curry Udon, which is a very hip dish in Japan right now, and the Matcha Macchiato, which is hot milk with green tea powder. Read on for more infos, photos and a short video.(more…)

Game Over 2007-12-13 14:00:13
It ended how it all began: with an elevator on the 11th floor. In the video we received a month ago we were asked not to push the button. But when we finally stood in that same elevator, we actually did push the button. When we arrived the game that had developed from the video during the past month came to an end.

Creepy Christmas Ornaments 2007-12-12 02:00:42
Some people like to put shiny red ornaments with golden ribbons onto their Christmas
tree. Others prefer creepy kids, heads and bird bones. The later group will all meet tonight at 7pm at the Strychnin Gallery for the XXX-Mas Party Ornament Show. There you will find a Christmas tree of kinds. Decorated with morbid ornaments by over 20 differents artists, including Chris von Steiner (image above), Virginies Ropars and Daniel van Nes. From goblins carrying gifts, beautifully framed miniature portraits, spiders printed on glass, bird bones with feathers, to ornately crafted Victorian-looking lamps. There will also be a sexy burlesque show with the Teasrettes. Read on for more infos and images.

Fancy Tree, Part 1 2007-12-19 18:08:49
Â
Christmas is less than a week away and I guess most people already have at least a bit of Christmas decoration in their houses. Unlike Americans, we Germans wait until Christmas Eve before we put up our trees and decorate them with ribbons and ornaments. I think this year you all might consider to buy some fancy new things for your tree. Here we have three suggestions where to buy the best Christmas deco in town.

Accidents & Emergency 2007-12-18 06:00:34
The new Goldfrapp single A&E will be released on Febuary 3rd. The song is definately the highlight of the new album Seventh Tree and we’ve listened to it on repeat one for days now. It reminds me a lot of the greatness of Utopia, a brilliant song from their first album Felt Mountain, but it has a more naturalistic sound. The whole album is more of the likes of their melodic and atmpospheric debut Felt Mountain. Fans of their latest record Supernature may be a bit disappointed because there is not one danceable song on it. But for all of you who look for something dreamy and magical for a cosy winter night or a gloomy morning this is just the right music.
Our friends of life style magazine MÄNNER let us have a sneak peak of their upcoming interview with Alison and Will as well as a new batch of promotional photos. More after the jump.

What’s Behind the Blinds? 2008-03-11 12:38:27 Sun-blinds are the aesthetical faux pas of the 20th century. Vanished from our living rooms they became nostalgic artefacts reminding us of our childhood. If you could wear them like a dress they would become vintage in 50 years, like the fringe dresses of the Twenties are now. For the theater fans amongst you who [...] Read more:Blinds
A Spicy Passion For Fashion 2008-03-09 08:30:20
Some like it hot and raunchy. At least this seems to be the case for Ukrainian footwear store chain Luciano Carvari. In their new campaign Flora Amore they show their shoes on dripping wet models in grow houses. The photo series kind of has the appeal of a wet T-shirt contest, only with expensive designer dresses. It seems that today you really have [...] Read more:Spicy

KATHARINE HAMNETT SAY CHOOSE LIFE 2008-03-01 07:00:00
In the early 80s Katharine Hamnett has been a fashion icon with her oversized T-shirts with block letter slogans like FRANKIE SAY RELAX or CHOOSE LIFE. The Love Of A Dog 2008-02-28 12:00:05
