Therefore with the good results that it sometimes show, the approach of learning mathematics by memorizing can be accepted. But is that the correct or suitable way forward in mathematics education?
For higher level of mathematics learning, where more in-depth mathematical concepts and expressions are involved, memorizing the mathematical tools, concepts and various steps become a challenging task. Many a times, we heard of students who practiced the memorizing method suffered drastically at this higher level of mathematics learning. This failure caused them to fear mathematics topics and forced them into the dreadful mathematics anxiety situation. Their confidence dipped when solving mathematics questions. CBSE Papers : Few basic tips to study mathematics 2007-10-24 01:36:20 1. Ask questions if you are unsure about the formulas and don’t be ashamed, many people may have some type of difficulty when it comes to math.
2. Study each formula carefully, in order words spend twice the amount of time studying and learning math equations from the time you are in class. Ex: if your class meets for one hour spend two hours away from class studying time on math problems. This does not mean you have to spend two solid hours studying, break your time up in 30 minute intervals.
3. If there is someone else in the class who has a better understanding of the content get with them for one on one tutoring or a small study group. This seems to help a lot when your peers tutor you and it may be fun. Keep your group around 4 to 5 members and do this early on if problems start to arise, smaller groups seem to get more done.

CBSE Papers : New Exam pattern for class X and XII this year 2007-10-29 09:18:13 The exam pattern for both class
X and XII is set to change this year and CBSE says the new paper format will make it easier and faster. The new pattern has more ’very short answer’ type questions and lesser marks have been allotted for long answers than was the case earlier, ensuring less subjectivity.
The format change will affect most subjects including Maths, Social Science and Science and Technology for Class X, and Economics, Accountancy, Business Studies, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths for Class XII.
In line with the emphasis on testing ’higher order thinking skills’, there will be a compulsory section of one-mark ’very short answer type’ questions. “These questions resemble the multiple choice questions (MCQ) pattern and will judge conceptual understanding. However, we have avoided direct MCQs for two reasons — to ensure that the printed question paper itself doesn’t get too lengthy with four options for each question and to avoid chances of cheating
