Timberlake Hits Big With 'End of Time'
2007-10-14 09:33:00
Justin Timberlake 's "Until The End Of Time" enjoys a 41-28 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, making him the first solo male artist this decade to spawn six top 40 hits from the same album. The album in question, "FutureSex/LoveSounds" (Jive), was released in September 2006.The last solo male artist to accomplish the feat was Michael Jackson, whose album "Dangerous" produced seven such hits from 1991-93. Shania Twain's "Come On Over," which had six top 40 Hot 100 hits from 1997-99, was the last album overall to reach the same heights."There are very few artists in the industry that can cover all the bases the way Justin does," says Jive/Zomba executive VP of promotion Joe Riccitelli. "If you look at the songs from 'FutureSex' that have topped the chart, you go from 'Summer Love,' which is pure pop-driven, to 'Sexyback,' which was groundbreaking from a production standpoint."A new version of "Until the End of Time," which features Beyonce in a duet with Timberlake, was released

Springsteen still carries a tune, and a message
2007-10-14 08:18:00
Bruce Springsteen , unlike so many of his contemporaries, isn't ready to simply roll out the hits for his fans. He has too much he still wants to say. While most rockers from the '70s have long stopped trying to introduce new material into their sets, Springsteen and the E Street Band continue to bravely push new songs -- and new ideas -- to the faithful and the strategy is working. At last night's show at Continental Airlines Arena, the first of four area shows over the next eight days, Springsteen got to see how well his crowd has taken to his more recent songs, as "Lonesome Day" got just as much reaction as "No Surrender," while "The Rising" had even more fist-pumping. The songs from the new album, "Magic," were as well received as his classic, "She's the One."Springsteen was remarkably blunt in his criticism of the Bush's administration's policies on torture and wiretapping. "These aren't just things that are un-American, they're anti-American," he said, introducing the upbeat

Amy Winehouse has signed up to headline the 2007 mtvU Woodie Awards .The 'Rehab' singer - who has not performed in the US since she pulled out of several high profile events and her American tour this summer due to "health issues" - has agreed to top the bill at New York's Roseland Ballroom on November 8.The event is much more low profile than the MTV Video Music Awards - for which Amy cancelled her performance - as it only features acts voted for by college students and only students can attend the show. The 24-year-old star - notorious for last minute cancellations and performing while intoxicated - will be joined on the bill by The Academy Is... and Spank Rock. After a rocky summer in which she married lover Blake Fielder-Civil, was hospitalised following a drugs overdose and was photographed after a bloody brawl with her new husband, Amy has eased back into public life. She most recently performed at the MOBO Awards in London last month, where she won Best UK Female but appeared to

Tunes from the band's eight studio albums will be made available from iTunes and other digital music retailers from November 13."The great thing about this band, unlike almost any other band that you could think of, is that every single day there is a new 13-year-old kid who's just starting to get into music", said David Dorn, senior vice president of e-commerce at Rhino Entertainment, which is behind the marketing the band's catalogue. "That's a customer that's coming along for the future."Unsurprisingly, the move coincides with the current fervour surrounding the rock legends.
