Job Interview - the fastest thing! 2007-10-13 00:00:16 Job Interview - the fastest thing! This is a ripper!!! An office manager was given the task of hiring an Individual to fill a job opening. After sorting through a stack of resumes he found four people who were equally qualified. He decided to call the four in and ask them only one question. Their answer would determine which of them would get the job. The day came and as the four sat around the conference room table the interviewer asked: “What is the fastest thing you know of?” Acknowledging the first man (A WHITE MAN), on his right, the man replied,”A THOUGHT. It just pops into your head. There’s no warning that it’s on the way; it’s just there. A thought is the fastest thing I know of.” “That’s very good!” replied the interviewer. “And now you sir?” he asked the second man (A ! COLOURED MAN). “Hmm….let me see. A blink! Jab We Met 2007-10-12 00:02:12 Jab We Met There may have been varied box office response to Fida, 36 China Town and Chup Chup Ke (each of them starring Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor) but what cannot be denied is the fact that music by Anu Malik (Fida) and Himesh Reshammiya (36 China Town and Chup Chup Ke) became quite popular. Now as the duo comes together once again in Jab We Met, one looks forward to yet another young soundtrack in the offering. A reasonable expectation since the composer at the helm is Pritam, Irshad Kamil is the lyricist whereas Imtiaz Ali, the man behind Socha Na Tha holds the baton as a director. “Mika can assure himself of yet another hit track. The moment ‘Mauja Hi Mauja’ begins, you know that an instant chartbuster is right up there for the team of Jab We Met. Driving with poor vision becomes possible 2007-10-18 00:00:46 Driving with poor vision
becomes possible Spanish researchers have developed and successfully tested a computer simulator allowing visually impaired to drive. This system is called SERBA (short for ‘Sistema Electro-óptico Reconfigurable de ayuda para Baja Visión’), which means ‘Reconfigurable Electric-Optical System for Low Vision’ in English. This innovative system is based on a reconfigurable device known as FPGA (or Field Programmable Gate Array). This means that it can easily be reprogrammed to be used under different circumstances. In fact, if his vision declines, a user of the SERBA system will just download a new version of the software adapted to him, without the need to buy a new device. Some companies are already interested in the system, but there is no information today about commercial availability. Source: feeds.feedburner.comWill you one day marry a robot? No Smoking 2007-10-17 00:01:33 No Smoking
Anurag Kashyap’s love for making dark films with varied subjects continues. After Black Friday and an unreleased Paanch, he returns with No Smoking which perhaps has been his quickest film to travel from conceptualization to hitting the screens. Touchwood! Produced by Kumar Mangat and Vishal Bhardwaj who had also collaborated in last year’s release Omkara, No Smoking has John Abraham and Ayesha Takia in the lead. With music by Vishal Bhardwaj and lyrics by Gulzar saab, one expects an unconventional soundtrack in the offering. Well, unconventional it is and in at least a couple of places, exciting too! This has to be one of the most original tracks ever written! ‘Jab Bhi Cigarette’ is the opening song of the album and may well be termed as the title song of the album. First to arrive is the ‘jazz’ version of the song which obviously creates a jazz mood with all the right instruments in place as required in a tun
It’s Breaking News 2007-10-17 00:01:28 It’s Breaking
News It’s all about TRPs. To hell with ethics, principles, morals and scruples. The competition amongst TV channels is so fierce across the globe that what eventually matters is laying your hands on any story that attracts eyeballs and which, in turn, translates into ratings. In an effort to outdo each other, TV channels have started resorting to gimmicks and sensationalism. Scandals, gossip, controversies, brawls, kickbacks… get priority over noble issues. IT’S BREAKING NEWS bares all that goes behind sting operations and the ways and means some channel heads stoop to, to attract eyeballs. Write your own movie review of It’s Breaking News IT’S BREAKING NEWS says it all in the most simplistic fashion, without using the technical jargon, and coupled with an engrossing story, catches the attention of the viewer. That is why that I thought, going into the theatre that this film (staring one of the best actors ever). It would have at least a sliver of a chance of being good, maybe not as good as the book but nonetheless still good. It was a very smart summer blockbuster that will attract a lot of the general American public. Think about it. Tom Hanks (one of the best actors we have ever had AND i

Ferrotoroidicity, key to faster hard disks? 2007-10-22 00:00:45 Ferrotoroidicity, key to faster hard disks? I bet that not many of you have heard about ferrotoroidicity. In fact, Google returns only 37 results about this concept as I’m typing this. In a nutshell, three forms of ferroic material are widely known: ferromagnetism, ferroelectricity and ferroelasticity. But European scientists have discovered a fourth form, which they called ferrotoroidicity. This phenomenon could lead to a new way to ’store data on atomic roundabouts.’ As the lead researcher said, ‘One could compare ferrotoroidic domains with roundabouts in, say, the UK and Germany where cars go around in clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.’ Even if this discovery is very interesting, it looks like many years will pass before this ferrotoroidic effect can be used to manufacture faster and more reliable hard disks. Aaja Nachle 2007-10-21 00:01:37 Aaja Nachle Music of Aaja Nachle serves to be special. And the reasons are more than one. a) Aaja Nachle is THE comeback film of Madhuri Dixit. Of course, there is no question of a compromise when it comes to music here. b) The film’s title. When a movie itself screams ‘come dance’, it should have enough ammunition in it’s soundtrack to make you dance indeed. c) The Yash Raj factor. After Jhoom Barabar Jhoom they desperately need a hit soundtrack. The need of the situation is much more than a single super successful track (Chak De India) or a critically appreciated album (Laaga Chunari Mein Daag). Do the composer duo Salim-Sulaiman and lyricist team of Piyush Mishra, Jaideep Sahni and Asif Ali Beg do well to get the desired results? The way it turns out eventually is that the album isn’t quite ’special’ (as one would have hoped) but does have a few tunes which should make you play them on for some time to come at le
