Artecnica Bloom Cards
-- Aren't they gorgeous? We especially love the snowy Christmas Bloom. They're perfect for greetings, gifts, tags, place settings and even centerpieces -- imagine a bouquet. The cards are 5.5 in. by 5.5 in., retail for around $6.00 each and come in more than a dozen styles. Collectible Cases for Your Magnificent Meishi 2007-10-11 12:39:16
Acme Studio Business Card Cases -- If you've ever been to Japan, you know the maniacal importance of meishi (MAY-shee), aka "business cards." Over there they are dealt out gracefully in social ballets of business etiquette, while over here they are occasionally rescued from the pits of purses or tweezed out of the inner strata of wallets. Then there's the added buffoonery of the cardless: "Well, you know so-and-so and they can get in touch with so-and-so if you need to get in touch with me or the so-and-so I know, too." We have so much to learn.
For starters, we'd love to further popularize the term meishi in America. It's such a prettier sounding word! However, until that happens, we'd like you to sharpen the usual introductory melee by adding a personal touch of style. We found the cutest collectible business card cases from Acme Studio to do just that. Slide your meishi out of one of these posh little numbers, and you'll show you're a class act.

Build Your Own Retro-Pretty Toy Cars 2007-10-10 18:56:49
Automoblox -- Ah, the days of pre-school -- and pre-cool toys. Remember those peg people who were doomed to drive their clunky block cars around and around the same wooden track, ad infinitum? Little did we know it was an early lesson about the oppressive power of fug. How? Please, if those little peg people had prettier vehicles they would have sped off that track to prettier, slightly older kids' playrooms, where the Barbies have poolside barbecues and My Little Ponies run wild.
Now a new generation of peglike people are free to cruise in style wherever they so please, courtesy of Automoblox. Combining the old-fashioned quality of hand-carved wooden toys with modern style and modularity, Automoblox has created retro-pretty toy cars with parts that kids can mix and match from several models. Accessories and moving parts come in a rainbow of colors, fit for boys or girls. Currently, the chassis only come in beechwood, but we're hoping future options will include painted chass Read more:Build

Blooming Sounds in Fuchsia and Teal 2007-10-09 17:47:18
JBL Spyro Computer Speakers -- What happens when you buy a pink laptop? You suddenly realize that the sleek, silver-and-black squawkboxes that you reluctantly bought under much design duress to match your previous silver-and-black, one-piece media station (that you thought was so design-forward at the time, and it was, but was out-prettified only months later) are now just totally fugifying your desktop to the extent you can't befowl your iTunes by playing them through such sonic fugments any longer, that's what. Now say that again, faster! Phew!
So our solution? A set of JBL Spyro™ speakers in fuchsia! You also can get them in teal, white and -- yes, gadget goths -- black, too. Doesn't the subwoofer just scream to be BeDazzled with your rhinestone initials?

Upstyle Your Starbucks Run With Cup Couture 2007-10-01 14:22:33 Haute Cupcoats for Your Soy Latte --
We don't know about you, but when we get our quotidian soy latte we don't want to be reminded we're slipping it into a cardboard sleeve made of "post-consumer waste." Ew! We're all for recycling, but brandishing "post-consumer waste," "post-consumer fiber" or "post-consumer" anything on something that gets that close to our lips just isn't a pretty thought.
Thankfully, caffeinistas, we found an eco-pretty and morning-state-of-mind-ful alternative if you don't want to do the reusable car-mug thing either: Cup Couture

Halloween Costumes: Prettiest Queen Glitterbug 2007-09-30 16:20:16 Prettiest Queen
Glitterbug Costume --
When frolicking as a pixie ingenue or glitterbug there's a delicate balance between flittering like a nymph or pussyfooting like a nympho. Much to our chagrin most fairy costumes encourage you to skirt toward the latter, so we were absolutely delighted to find one fancifully appropriate for an audience of winged little ones.
We found a charming, theatrical-quality adult fairy costume at Spirit Halloween

Halloween Costumes: Prettiest Smart-Ass Pirate 2007-09-29 18:22:49 Prettiest Pirate

While witches are perennially popular for females, pirates are all-time favorites for guys. Unfortunately, many blokes don't go further than buying a three-buck eye patch and wrapping a bandanna around their head. And pirates in blue jeans? Stop them, please!
Our favorite garrrrrb for smart-ass guys this year happens to be Disney's officially licensed Premium Captain Jack Sparrow costume -- not too beach bum and not too frilly swishbuckler. Let him revel in drunken-slurred one-liners and quips all night.

Halloween Costumes: Prettiest Maiden Prude 2007-09-28 18:14:06 Prettiest Prude Costume --
Oh, you know them: prissy princesses who want to cover every square inch of skin on Halloween
because it may be "a little chilly out." Well, at least that's their story. We know it's a self-defense mechanism, so they can snub everyone else's choice of costume from within their raiments of repression.
Thus, the Maid Marion costume is perfect for the absolute prude. It's going to take one industrious Robin to get up under her hood.

The design also allows you to unfold it into more unconventional places, like airplane and car windows, or to thread and hang it via its central grommet.

Whimsical Toasters and Accoutrement Fit for Life-Size Barbies 2007-09-23 12:18:22 Products by Pylônes -- We love the French and their passion for fab food, fashion, wine and, of course, whimsy. Who else could make the everyday toaster look fit for a life-size Barbie playset?
We applaud Pylônes, a design-focused French company turning the plain accoutrement you'd find in Bed, Blah, and Be-Yawned into works of art, everything from toasters and tape measures to dust pans and blow dryers. We especially love their iPod covers and pocket mirrors (pictured).
Pylônes only has three stores in the U.S., all of which are in New York City, but you can shop at their online store, too.
Boo Berries for Your Sweetest Chocoholics 2007-10-17 21:11:56
Have a Berry Elegant October -- In our patrol book, it's a crime to live through the month of October without indulging in chocolate at least once... a day! With Sweetest
Day, Halloween and October's swell of housewarming parties (Oct. 1 is still the largest moving day of the year in many cities across the U.S.), we don't need any excuses to buy a little cocoa bliss for ourselves while shopping for melt-in-your-mouth gifts for others. We deserve it, and so do you.
This year, we love the cute Boo Berries
by Berry Elegance (pictured above). These splendidly designed chocolate-covered strawberries are just as apropos for your Sweetest Day sweeties as they are for Halloween soirées. Skip Your Evian for Eco-Pretty Water Bottles 2007-10-16 14:08:24
SIGG Swiss Engineered Water Bottles
-- The stylish SIGG water bottles are nothing new to serious campers and outdoors enthusiasts, but more and more everyday folk are finally catching on, and for good reason. Did you know that Americans throw away nearly 30 million plastic water bottles every day? That's just not pretty for our environment. Reusable water bottles are the way to go, and now you have no fugly excuses to grab a new Evian for every power-walk, our dear beauties.
In recent years, SIGG has put much more emphasis on prettifying their bottles, and with much success. Today they have well more than one hundred designs, and counting. Woo! Plus, we must note that these just aren't any other water bottles. The inner linings of the bottles have been engineered to not absorb or contaminate the liquid contents, so your latest fill of water won't be infused with the faint tastes of yesterday's passion fruit juice and the fills of Diet Coke you had in your bottle weeks ago. Still Clueless About a Costume? Masquerade Like a Venetian for Halloween 2007-10-14 02:41:56
Capture the Elegance of Venetian
Carnevale for Halloween
-- Venetian masks come from a long tradition of taunting social mores and titillating the idea of absolved freedom through anonymity, regardless of social class or position. Even ages ago, the festive refashioning during Carnevale di Venezia was elegantly egalitarian. Quite joyfully, it's inspiring to know that a spirit that is so old is now so new again. In the past decade especially, our modern Halloween celebrations have revived a similar egalitarian sentiment, as the trick-or-treating affairs for kiddies have given way to the escapist play-day for adults, when anyone can be whoever or whatever they choose.
Of course, being whoever or whatever is a daunting choice, so please choose wisely! If you're completely uninspired for Halloween this year, masquerading in the style of Venetian Carnevale may be your answer. Monopoly Refashions ''Boardgame'' Into ''Boardglam'' 2007-10-20 17:51:26
Monopoly: Boutique Edition -- Since Hasbro has licensed thousands of versions, or so it would seem, of the all-time classic boardgame, you may wonder, "Does the world really need one more?" When it finally glams out and goes all pretty in pink, of course!
Our freshly manicured hands down, the new Monopoly: Boutique Edition is the prettiest version we've ever seen, as if the game went through an 'Extreme Makeover.' With old green houses and red hotels bulldozed for translucent pink boutiques and purple malls, and a bank refashioned into a jewelry box, the game is as gloriously girl-friendly as it ever could be.
If you want to take a roll with the darling pink dice, you ought to act fast. We wager this will be a hot, sold-out item this holiday season. Supposedly, it's available exclusively at Toys "R" Us, but we've already seen people asking for double the MSRP on eBay... The nerve of those opportunistic Scrooges. Hmmph.

Lovely Prints and Works by Artist Paulette Insall 2007-10-19 18:10:53
Original Works
by Paulette Insall -- Oregon artist and mother, Paulette Insall, has delighted us with her richly colorful paintings, which we feel have a lovely storybook quality, as if each image is a scene of introspection from a fable on womanhood. In her own words, Paulette's art is "about the search for connection... to self, to like minded spirits..." We love her sentiment.
If you want to support or share her spirit, you can buy fine prints and cards of Paulette's select works. With all the hustle and bustle in today's overbooked lifestyles, spending a little extra time to choose a quality card, like one of the above, and to write a thoughtful note to someone speaks volumes.

Stylish Grocery Totes, Eco-Pretty and Eco-Practical, Even for Trick-or-Treating 2007-10-25 14:05:19
b. happybags, Bags for the Planet
With all the incessant hoo-hah about giving your kids reusable trick-or-treat bags this year, we wanted to remind good-intentioned people that Halloween-themed cloth bags with cutesy pumpkins and witches emblazoned on them may not be the best idea after all.
Buying reusable trick-or-treat bags that only would be used once a year, if that, or tossed out because you've accumulated dozens of them from various eco-pushing sources, isn't that eco-friendly in the long run. If you opt out of the classic pillowcase for candy-hauling, for pretty's sake, please try to go more practical and seasonally neutral in your choice of reusable bag.
Although our choice may be more non-traditional, we found a solution that will help save the planet, and you money: b. happybags' reusable grocery bags. The Pink Toolbox
Sometimes it's a little fun to think, "If we were life-size Barbies, how would we _________," and fill in the blank with whatever is on our mind. Now, don't get naughty! We weren't thinking about men, well, at least not today. In our most recent dreamhouse scenario it was just an innocent quandary about how to hang pictures in a line up a 14-ft. living room wall. Although we knew we'd never find a reticulating ladder that was remotely pretty or pink, at least we could measure and hammer with some modica of fashion. Sears Craftsman is so not our style.
Fortunately, we found the perfect answer for designer-toolbelt divas: the Pink Toolbox. Wonderfully created by -- yes, Ms. Obvious -- The Pink Toolbox Co., they were a smashing holiday hit in Britain last year. We can't wait for them to make it big on our side of the pond, but that doesn't mean we have to wait to get one ourselves... or wait for a Gucci or Dolce & Gabbana version either!

Organic Lilies and Flowers for Fall 2007-11-02 12:28:56
Now that Halloween has passed, please break down the cobwebs, topple the fake headstones and hack your jack-o-lanterns before pumpkin putrescence befouls the autumn breeze. It's time to de-skullify, de-goblinate and de-witchipoo your environs, whether at work or home. When the Snickers and Smarties run out, replace the candy bowl with a bouquet of calorie-free eye-candy.
While the leaves fall and the winds chill, autumn is an especially wonderful season to enliven and warm up your surroundings with flowers or to give bouquets as impromptu thank-yous.
Our floral favorites this season are rich, vibrant Asiatic sunset lilies (pictured in top of photo), which also come in darker reds, and Peruvian lilies (pictured in bottom of photo). You can buy them organic, too, which is an eco-pretty bonus.

The Eco-Friendlier, Prettier High-Definition Movie Player 2007-10-31 12:38:41
NME Launches a HD Alternative That Means Prettier Motion Pictures for Your Eyes and the Environment
On November 15, 2007, New Medium Enterprises (NME) finally releases the more affordable, more eco-friendly and, yes, prettier alternative to the current clunky HD DVD and Blu-ray high-definition players on the market. Their alternative is the HD VMD (High-Definition
Versatile Multilayer Disc) player, which comes in white, black, gray and, we're still hoping, "flaming red."
Although HD VMD is yet another batch of letters to remember, we hope you'll take note.
Notably, the current high-definition options available are not very eco-pretty. Because Toshiba's HD DVD and Sony's Blu-ray use new blue lasers (thus the "Blu" in Blu-ray), both companies had to invest a lot of resources in creating new production lines to accommodate the new technology. The cost of that investment is not only passed on to you, the consumer, but also is passed on to our environment in an excessive waste of Read more:Friendlier
Dangerously Addictive, Potentially Delightful Decals for Any Decor 2007-10-29 23:06:06
We're not sure, but we have an inkling that somewhere Hildi Santo-Tomás, the wall-warrior queen of 'Trading Spaces,' may have some hand in the outrageous pandemic of wall decals that has hit the world's decor in the past year. In countless shows on TLC, Hildi has pushed nothing but wall treaments, wall treatments, wall treatments. Now her message apparently has reached the tipping point, as we've been seeing decals creeping up walls and spilling onto innocent architecture everywhere. With so much decor at stake, a brief intervention is in order.
Although we applaud Hildi's creative drive for wall wonder,
some of her transformations want us to offer design therapy for the homeowners decoriously injured. Let her pizazzters be a caveat to those who've suddenly become addicted to decals, decals, decals. You just can't stick one, and it can be dangerous. True, if used in tasteful moderation, wall decals can be an easy, non-messy way to prettify any space. However, it's that Read more:Addictive

The Op Art Toy for Prodigies and Power Execs 2007-11-07 03:00:44
Cella, by Naef Toys in Switzerland, is a toy based on beautiful simplicity. With just nine shells nested in a single cube, you can construct, deconstruct, reconfigure and rejigger countless formations. The little stack of creative inspiration is equally suitable for kiddie Vasarelys and Eschers as for power execs in need of a playful yet refined conversation piece for the desktop.
Because of the high quality associated with the Naef fametag, it's not just a regular toy. While not in play, Cella isn't meant to be merely dumped in a drawer or a toy box, but to be displayed on a shelf or a pedestal, depending how self-gloriously you view your or your child's creation. If you discover a new Op artist inside, go with it.
Of course, sometimes pretty has its price. We hesitate to tell you the cost of this 4-inch cube of shape-shiftable wonder because it may leave you with much less wondrous sticker-shock. We don't want you making a fugly face at the dollar figure while our pretty si
