Marriage is Healthy!! It’s Official.
2007-10-08 18:13:51
Marriage beats all other living arrangements in terms of its benefits to adults and children, an official Government study has found. Married adults were shown to be healthier and to live longer than cohabiting or single people, whether widowed or divorced, according to the Focus on Families survey by the Office of National Statistics. See more at the Christian Institute web site. But the question is: “Will the Government take any notice of their own study, or will they choose to ignore it???”

Faith Without Works Is Dead
2007-10-07 20:51:29
James 2 v. 17 (NIV) says: “…faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead”. As a worship leader I am increasingly becoming aware that singing songs is not enough. “And now to live the life” as Matt Redman sings. (”Now To Live The Life” on the album ‘Intimacy’). We need to look at our whole lives as an act of worship. Without going into a sermon on the subject, one area has become really real to me in this way, and that’s the whole area of speaking out for justice and truth. If we sing our songs about the fatherhood of God then we must be prepared to lobby our MP about the forthcoming Human Embryo and Tissues Bill, which is an attempt to legalise human cloning (this is contrary to God’s order in creation - Genesis 1 v.27). Or be prepared to demonstrate publicly and make your voice heard (see this example). Let’s not get to the point where God says of us: “I hate, I despise your religious feasts

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
2007-10-06 16:01:39
This is amazing! If you think that a foetus in the womb is not a real human being take a look at this. We are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139).

Missile-launcher aimed at Gaza
2007-08-04 20:37:50
A number of Israelis from the Tel Aviv vicinity drove south and fired improvised missiles towards Gaza, in an effort to raise awareness of the difficult situation in Sderot. The group used a projectile-launcher built by Yahav Michaeli - a stunts and pyrotechnics expert - to lob organic eggs and vegetables towards Beit Hanoun. “The idea was to draw attention to what’s going on with a little bit of humor, because we thought it could relieve the pressure a little,” said members of the group. “When you wander around Sderot and notice the atmosphere there, you understand that a sort of emotional stagnation has taken hold of the State. That’s why we decided to do what we did,” they said. “We need to shake people up and we thought that this sort of shooting towards Beit Hanoun would be a type of peaceful shooting. IDF sources who heard of the missile launcher hurried worriedly to the launch site. They were greeted by group member Yigal Tzur, who

Abortion Ship Readies to Sail Again
2007-07-05 05:39:30
A controversial "abortion ship" is planning to sail to countries where the practice is illegal and take women out to sea for terminations after the Dutch government lifted restrictions banning it from international waters. Pro-choice organisation Women on Waves said that they would target Ireland, Poland and Malta, the three EU countries where abortion remained illegal. We really need to pray that they will not be allowed to do this!!! God have mercy on us for our killing of innocent lives Read more at http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article1699514.ece

New Bill Threatens To Further Undermine The Traditional Family
2007-07-05 02:24:36
(This article is reproduced from an e-mail sent by the Lawyers Christian Fellowship (www.lawcf.org) and Christian Concern For Our Nation www.christianconcernforournation.co.uk) ——————————————————————————– The Draft Human Tissue and Embryology Bill has now been published. Within it the Government propose to remove the requirement for doctors to have regard for the need of any child they assist in bringing into the world through assisted reproductive technology for a father (clause 21). This proposal flies in the face of the wealth of research that demonstrates that a father is central to a child's welfare. This role is different but complementary to that of the mother. Children deprived of a father often experience psychological, social and community disadvantages. This proposal is all about the alleged "rightsâ

The Tax System Should Reward Married Couples
2007-10-14 18:57:03
The government has recently stated that the tax system should reward married couples. Chief Secretary to the Treasury Andy Burnham told the Daily Telegraph: “It’s not wrong that the tax system should recognise commitment and marriage.” To quote Mr Burnham, (who is married with three children): “I don’t seek to preach to anybody. But in an abstract way I think it’s better when children are in a home where their parents are married, and I think children do notice if their parents are married or not.” Now, you may say that this is Labour’s attempt to claim the moral high ground from the Tories but good on him anyway (as long as they then follow this principle through ALL of their policies). In other words, if they are supporting marriage as an institution this needs to be reflected in other areas of policy. Add at:

Rally at Westminster to Demonstrate Against Abortion
2007-10-14 03:43:58
This article was reproduced from the Christian Concern For Our Nation web site: “This autumn the church is facing one of the most critical moments in the fight against abortion in the last 40 years. In October 1967 the Abortion Act received royal assent and abortion was legalised in this country. Since then 6.7 million abortions have taken place in this country, and 465 more are taking place every day. This October, 40 years after the passing of the Abortion Act, Christians across the nation are standing up and being counted, refusing to be silent about the taking of innocent lives and the trauma that has been caused to women and families who have been affected by abortion. Services of remembrance, repentance and hope are taking place across the nation. On the anniversary of the Act there will be a rally outside Parliament to demonstrate that the current situation is no longer acceptable. Please join us outside Parliament, at 2pm on 27th October. This is a chance for the church t

Christian Couple Resign after Refusing to Promote Homosexuality
2007-10-25 02:40:35
Committed Christian couple, Vince and Pauline Matherick, have been told they will not be re-registered as foster carers following their refusal to sign an Equality policy which forbids discrimination on the grounds of homosexuality. Mr Matherick, a 65 year old minster at South Chard Christian Church and his wife, Pauline, have been fostering since 2001 and have looked after 28 children. Earlier this year they were asked to agree to a new Equality policy which would require them to say that homosexual relationships were equal to heterosexual marriages if asked by a child about such relationships. Mr Matherick explained that he and his wife had never discriminated against anybody, but that they would not teach children about the practice of homosexuality because the Bible condemns any kind of sexual practice outside of a marriage relationship. Anti-abortion groups stage rally
2007-10-28 18:45:15
Religious and anti-abortion groups have been holding a rally to mark 40 years since abortion was legalised. Activists met at the Houses of Parliament to call for a reduction in the upper time limit for abortion. They later walked to Westminster Cathedral for a service commemorating 6.7m abortions performed since 1967. Full story at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7064964.stm Add at:

Major Life Changes Ahead..
2007-11-07 05:09:12
Life has changed drastically for us recently. Due to family and personal reasons we are soon to be leaving the Christian Renewal Centre. At the moment we do not know the way ahead as we do not have any clear direction from God, so we’d appreciate your prayers. For Jeremy it means finding another job and for all of us it means finding a new home as well, as our present accomodation is at the Centre. But it is a positive time for us to enjoy family and being with each other and having time to go for walks, do some photography and experience God in a different way. The move Add at:

Council Accepts Christian Foster Parents should not be forced to Promote Homosexuality
2007-11-06 11:02:40
Vince and Pauline Matherick, the Christian couple from Chard, Somerset, who last week were at the centre of national media attention when Somerset Social Services ordered them to sign up to a new Equalities Promise saying they would have to agree to facilitate and promote a homosexual lifestyle yesterday won the right to have their personal convictions and conscientious objections recognised. The couple met last Wednesday with Social Services leaders and secured an agreement to this effect. The Mathericks hope now to continue to foster children as before. Add at:

Another perspective on Qana deaths
