Tonight I cut Rue’s hair and cried a little inside.
After I was done we both kind of looked in the mirror for a moment before I said, “You know, if you don’t brush it the way I did or blowdry it then it won’t look so full and thick and… girly.”
What can I say? I’ve only ever cut a girl’s hair.
(Really only my own, and Riley, you’re gay and you don’t count.)

For Love 2007-10-08 15:15:01
You held my wrist tighter than usual
last night.
I only rolled over half way,
didn’t get that late night drink,
and held you with just one arm,
sleeping on my back instead of my belly
because I love you so much
and couldn’t bear to move you.
Star-crossed Lovers 2007-10-07 13:42:56
“Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life;
Whole misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their death bury their parents’ strife.
The fearful passage of their death-mark’d love,
And the continuance of their parents’ rage,
Which, but their children’s end, nought could remove,
Is now the two hours’ traffic of our stage;
The which if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.”

Yelp! 2007-10-05 09:35:27
Well, I’ll be yelp!ed. It looks like since I became part of Yelp! Elite, Yelp! decided to go out of their way and send me a free care package. Included was a shirt with a very retro design on the front and “Yelp! Elite Squad” on the back, a variety of buttons, business cards, and a huge sticker. I’ve been Yelping since April and I think that’s it’s ridiculously awesome that they promoted themselves in such a way. “Thank you” for using our site. And really, that’s all I do. I use it. I want to review local businesses to make sure other people in this town have a go at the not-so-well-known places. Really, I love Yelp! Right now they’re only in the United States, but I know they will branch. Especially at the rate they’re growing. Rock on, Yelp! Again, anyone yelping that I didn’t know was yelping before, add me!
Super Mom 2007-10-02 22:04:07 Okay guys, I know I mentioned how amazing my mom is and that she’d be baking a pumpkin pie and pumpkin muffins, right? Well, she came over while everyone in my house was sleeping off the flu, cleaned our kitchen and made us all an unbelievable amount of delicious treats. When she told my little sisters we were sick they went outside and hand picked us apples. She made apple sauce, apple pie, pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, cheesy biscuits, and brought over those apples. Beware: Your mouth will begin salvating.
PS: This is quite the laugh.

My good friend I have the flu. We’re pretty sure I gave it to him. We have the same symptoms and came down with it at the same time. We’re doing a bit better today, though we’re both croaking like toads. We also happen to think this picture is pretty funny. A lot of the same stuff happens to us so we’re not surprised we both have the same cold.
Did I mention he lives in Canada?
Also, my mother is coming over today to take care of me, Jei, and Kat who have all caught this cold. She’s baking homemade pumpkin pie and pumpkin muffins and a fantastic dinner. I love my mom. (My sickly friend in Canada is jealous. But were he here she’d make it for him too because she’s amazing.) Read more:Attached

Determination 2007-09-29 20:29:03
I found these when I was going through that “retrospective” stage I was talking about a little while ago. These were taken back in early January of this year. This is when I accidentally dyed my hair orange when the box was to lighten dark brunettes. (It grew on me, obviously, and a few months later I tried red.) That was a pretty rough time for me actually and it had spanned through some of my favorite months, practically ruining them. I’m determined to have a better season this time around.
It doesn’t look like it will be all that difficult. =D
As a side note, I think I may be finally catching that cold everyone’s been getting. I did a good job fighting it off except I babysat my sick sister all day. Oh well, it happens. Read more:Determination

Does This Make Me A Camera Snob? 2007-09-27 17:27:15
So much happened last week but nothing really worth too much focus (haha, this is a pun but you don’t get it yet) except for this. (I said the exact same thing last year if that gives you a hint.)
This was me last weekend taking Eric’s senior portraits. My sister captured this moment, and a few others, with my beloved camera. And that in my hands- ahem- was my first time using a DSLR. I think you know what that means. Yeah, that’s right. I have a new toy.
Behold.
The good news is it’s a Canon (as opposed to considering potentially purchasing the Nikon D80) which means the menu and interface is a lot like what I’m used to using with the Powershot S3 IS. The bad news is no video abilities, but of course I can still use the Powershot S3 IS. A lot of people ask me what equipment I use for the shots on my flickr, and for you I’d like to speak a little bit about the current inannimate love of my life. I am in NO way dissatisfied with my current camera. I Read more:Camera

Years Fly By 2007-09-25 12:57:14 I never thought I would be the odd quirky relative who can’t stop shouting about how, “you’ve grown so much”. You know, with the wild gestures and everything about how high you were the last time you were seen. Yeah, well last Friday I saw my cousin Lauren whom I used to play with and babysit all the time when she was as old as my sisters are now. She’s fifteen now, and in the tenth grade. I could not get over how grown up she was. She’s driving! I guess I still can’t. I’m about to look her up on MySpace right now.
About the video, I know I’ve been posting a lot recently, (it seems I posted a lot of videos last fall, too) but I can’t help myself. Excuse the bouncy “Blair Witch” style camera at parts. As for everyone who commented on here and in their own journals and did video responses- Thank you. I was delighted to see that there are people who’ve been journaling online for as long as I have. End of Summer 2007-09-18 01:06:43 I uploaded four old art pieces of mine back from 2oo2 to the art gallery that I found at my old house today. And I also started painting. Something I haven’t done for a little over two years. Hopefully it doesn’t turn out as awfully as I imagine it will.
Later today when I wake up again I will be taking shots of a young woman in hopes to capture her acting headshots and her senior photos. I’m pretty nervous and still can’t understand why people will pick me out of a lot and say, “I want her to take my picture.”
I didn’t even know you looked at my “work”. I don’t know what I’m doing, really. She is absolutely gorgeous and yet I’m worried that when I take her picture I’ll mess it all up somehow. I just like doing it for myself. How do I know what it is she’s expecting? But I could use the money and another addition to my portfolio (my portfolio booklet is plaid by the way) and she wants me to. Wants me Read more:Summer
Revenge of the Baby Eaters 2007-09-16 04:20:47
I became very emotional when I pieced this video together because I remember the flood of emotion I felt when I was about 13 and I watched the home movies my mother had made of us playing together as children. I knew that one day the girls would look at these. I knew one day when they are older I will look at them too.
And here I go getting emotional again. Read more:Revenge

As Promised 2007-09-14 18:19:46 I usually have a bowl on the table in the living room full of hard candies for guests when they come over. While at the store yesterday I snagged a bag of candy I’d noticed a few weeks back.
Strawberry Shortcake, Cinnamon Bun, and Apple Pie a la Mode.
Hard candies that taste like sweets. Could life get any better?
(Oh, I guess it could. They were on sale for .31 cents)
Also, my other journal is almost done, so when I saw this one sale I helped myself.
Of course Kelly had to stop me from trying to eat it.
And last but certainly not least in any way shape or form-
Could life get any better?
I submit that it can not.
(Maybe they’ll have plaid winter coats this year.)
Sincerely from the bottom of my heart, thank you indie kids for bringing plaid back. It’s made collecting incredibly easy this year, as I’m quite sure I wouldn’t have been able to get the plaid backpack or plaid flats without your influence.
Big Changes 2007-10-13 15:40:18 Download audio file (14-cats-delicacy.mp3)
This entry has ridiculously cute music because it suits my mood. Big changes are underway, and I guess it’s about time that I mention some of them! First I should say that I love peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches and have ever since I was little, but have been unable to consume peanut butter for years. It’s a mental thing that developed when I was around twelve or thirteen years old (I think) and it’s just something I’ve grown to live with. I have peanut butter, I vomit. Pretty simple, right?
Well, I know it’s a mental block and it’s something I’ve never really felt like actually attempting to get over except for this year. I’ve had nutella and jelly sandwhiches and it’s just killing me to actually try the peanut butter. So what I am planning on doing is creating some peanut butter desserts for our Winternights feast. (Yes, we celebrate Winternights and Yule religiously (haha-punny)
The Birthing 2007-10-12 18:06:13
I wasn’t going to post this but apparently I changed my mind. It’s old, but it’s me opening the Digital Rebel XTi. Pardon the mess of the apartment- if you could hear the actual video sound you’d hear the Final Fantasy XII theme. Kiki and I had been gaming for about a week straight!!!
Now she and I are reading (listening to) Jim Butcher’s, The Dresden Files. We’re on the first book, after having read a short story, and so far it puts Laurell K. Hamilton to shame. (Who doesn’t?) Anyway. It’s a male voice, which I love oh-so-more. It’s that supernatural detective story that I adore.
“Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean there isn’t an invisible demon about to eat your face.”
Ah, love.

Morn’s Love Letter 2007-10-20 01:02:44
Morn spent most of his kittenhood with other animals, whether it was other cats, dogs, or squirrels. Since I’ve moved into this new house there have been no other animals around and he’s been incredibly lonely. However, with the new roommates came Frost- another cat.
Morn has been trying desperately to get his attention while the poor thing is still trying to get used to his new surroundings. It’s so ridiculously cute. Read more:Letter

Silly Pillow Talk 2007-10-19 00:09:09 I apologize if this was far too personal to post on the internet.
Me: Do you remember what you dreamt about last night?
Him: Hmm. Nope.
Me: Do pirates ring a bell?
Him: Haha, no. Why?
Me: Well, because last night you grabbed me and declared, “Ah! Buried treasure!”
Him: There’s nothing buried in there!
Me: …
Him: But there could be.
Me: I’m too enamored by your pickup line to come up with an appropriate response.
Him: Arr!

Fall Foods 2007-10-17 23:49:57
Well, they are here and safe. Honestly, I did not realize it had been four (now five) days since I last updated, it’s been that busy. They are both settled in, Morn and Frost (Cole’s cat) have met. Morn wants to be friends, but Frost seems a little frightened by that idea. Morn sits at his door and night saying, “Please, I’ve been so lonely, come play!” to which Frost will reply through the door, “The door’s shut! I can’t get out!” And at that point, Morn gives up and comes back to bed.
Kiki and I made seasonal chocolate chip cookies as a little housewarming snack (along with a Strawberry pie) and then we went to Meijer grocery shopping… and guess what we found!!

Pumpkin Cider + Milk Faces 2007-10-24 23:37:51
Sleeping Pumpkin
.
Blurry, but I like it anyway.
Future cat macros?
I’ve taken to drawing faces of despair and terror on my milk.
“Please don’t drink/kill me?”
I have no idea why.
But, as a side note, my Halloween costume is complete. HAHA.
The cats are getting along great. Morn’s still a little grumpy, though it’s only been three days, and I can’t help but get a little stressed about it. On the first day he’d let me pet him but then get up and move away from me and lay down somewhere else. But yesterday he laid in the bedroom with Pumpkin, Jei and I. And he seems to follow Pumpkin all over. They eat together and this morning he seemed back to normal. Exposing his belly to me and begging me to scratch/pet him. I’m not as stressed about it now.
Does everyone know what they will be for Halloween?
Walked In On 2007-10-22 18:34:47 True story.
So we’re sitting here in our living room, watching a film, laughing at the kittens running around chasing each other when someone walks in through our front door carrying a bag of groceries. We look at him, and he looks at us, and then he says- “Oh, oh, God. I’m really sorry.” turns around and leaves, shutting the door behind him. We had no idea who this man was.
I don’t know how you could mistake our house for any of the others around us. We’re the only house with a “Maximum Occupancy” sign, an autumn pumpkin wreath, and about eight pumpkins in our lawn.
Weird.
Hilarious, but still very weird.
Pumpkin Cider 2007-10-21 19:08:56 Yesterday I adopted a kitten that I was going to rescue about a month ago from drowning. And by that I mean the people who had it were going to drown it, but then I reasoned that I just couldn’t do it. (This reasoning happened last month.) I couldn’t afford the $250 to get him fixed, shots, etc, and if he had something he could give it to Morn. It was just irresponsible when I had a cat already to take care of. So I told the girl to just take the kittens to Petsmart if she was really afraid of her father drowning the poor things. So I guess she did, because I walked in there and there he was. My face did that pucker, squint, try-not-to-go-aww- that it sometimes does and I looked at the sheet on his cage. All his brothers had been adopted and he was alone. He had been neutered and all his shots were up to date.
Kind of sort of perfect, right?
Well, meet Pumpkin
Cider. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to name him Pumpkin, or Cider, so…
