Manowar - Die For Metal 2007-11-11 03:00:26 I was thinking if I should post Manowar
video or not, just because you can hear it in radio all the time. Well, Manowar is so “traditional” that I need to post this one. Personally I enjoy the earlier albums of Manowar, but this new video is pretty good as well. Sometimes it is difficult to get this muscles+leather+metal riffs seriously, but I must say this song sounds good. Not bad at all.

Stone - Get Stoned (live) 2007-11-10 09:00:57 Time to jump into the time machine, once again. Let’s ride back to year 1989. Back then Stone
was a great trash metal band in Finland. One of the members of Stone, Roope Latvala, plays in Children Of Bodom nowadays. Check out the video below. It is a live recording of Stone gig back in 1989. Look at those tennis shoes and white socks. Heh.. pretty funny. Yep, those were the good old days of trash metal. Check out also my previous Stone post, No Commands.
Children Of Bodom - Angels Don’t Kill 2007-11-10 03:00:04 Yeah yeah, I know.. I should not post too much videos from the same band. Not everybody likes Children
Of Bodom. Ok, let me do this just once more and then something else. I cannot resist myself posting this one because this is so damn good metal song. This is a footage from a gig in Finland, as you hear guys talking Finnish in the beginning. Angels
Don’t Kill is a great metal song with damn cool riffs and melodies. Listen to it at 3:11. Sounds like Iron Maiden? Anyhow, a fab piece of metal music. Check it out!

Children Of Bodom - Kissing The Shadows (live) 2007-11-09 09:00:08 We started this day by posting the new song of Children
Of Bodom. Let’s continue this day with C.O.B. Here’s a great video from C.O.B. gig at Seoul in 2001, namely Kissing
The Shadows
. Back in those days this band was not too popular but was quickly getting attention. The quality of this video is not the best, sorry for that.

Children Of Bodom - Tie My Rope 2007-11-09 03:00:08 Children of Bodom is in studio again, hell yeah! They have released out one new kick-ass song as a “teaser” of the upcoming album. This one is called Tie My Rope. It continues the good old C.O.B style with much similarities to their songs Trashed, Lost and Strungout and In Your Face. It is pretty good song, even though not as stunning as some of their earlier songs, such as Silent Nights, Bodom Nights. Anyhow, it is nice to get some new material from this great Finnish metal band. I am looking forward getting the new album in my hands.

Epica - The Phantom Agony 2007-11-08 10:00:20 Let’s continue the same direction. Here’s another great video from Epica (see my previous post as well), The Phantom
Agony. This is a footage from recording showing the cellos, background vocals and choir as well. It starts with cello and violin notes combined with marching drums and choir, which actually remind me Rhapsody. Oh, I haven’t posted any vids from Rhapsody. Gotta do that next.. Anyhow, the song continues rising until the the death grunts and Simone’s clear vocals. There is a nice break in the middle after which the song continues faster until the last rise before violins and marching drums of the the final. Very nice song with powerful choir and operatic elements! I say this is a perfect power metal song with all the great elements in it.

Epica - Quietus 2007-11-08 06:33:50 We are facing very unusual times now in Finland. Yesterday was a very dramatic day, as I wrote about it yesterday. I have not much to say right now, but I will now continue posting metal music videos.
Here’s Quietus from Epica. It is a pretty nice song from this Dutch sinfonic metal band. What makes Epica so good from my point of view is the beautiful mezzo-soprano voice of Simone Simons. Simone’s voice combined with operatic elements and death metal grunts creates a fantastic musical experience that I enjoy very much. Even though I mostly listen to melodic death metal and classical music, Epica is a band I listen to every now and then. Check out also my earlier Epica post of their song Cry For The Moon.

The producer of My Winterstorm is Daniel Presley who worked with big names, such as Faith No More. Tarja Turunen has actively joined composing and lyrics writing work. Stratovarius - Last Night on Earth (WOA 2007) 2007-11-14 09:00:20 And now the new song which was played in Wacken Open Air 2007, Last Night
on Earth
. The starts with traditional Stratovarius keyboards but it does not impress me too much. Where is the good old Stratovarius sound? I prefer clear vocals of Kotipelto, not “half-grunts”. Anyhow, I find this as an average Stratovarius song, not as good as those in the “Destiny” album. I rather listen to Kiss of Judas or other older Statovarius songs. Check out Headbanger’s shop for those good old Strato albums from 1990’s.

Tarja Turunen - I Walk Alone 2007-11-14 04:14:01 Tarja Turunen has released a new album, My Winter Strom, from which this video below is. The album is released in Finland today and is her first one after breaking up with Nightwish. The rest of the countries will get this album during this year. To United Stated and few other countries this album will come on early 2008. The whole list of countries is available in Tarja’s website. There is also another website promoting the new album. Check out also Tarja’s MySpace site. I Walk Alnoe sounds good and I believe Tarja’s album will sell quite well. We will see it in a couple of months. Anyhow, I will be one of the first ones buying the album today.

Stratovarius - The Land Of Ice And Snow (live) 2007-11-14 03:00:26 Finnish power metal band Stratovarius has been pretty quiet after they broke up late 2003. They were one of the most famous power metal bands in the 1990’s and they have influenced numerous other bands. They say that the band is still active but at least their website has not much news this year. This is a bit sad because Stratovarius is one of my favourite power metal bands and I would be eager to get new material from them. Although Stratovarius has been quiet, there is some positive news to the fans. They played a new song in Wacken last summer. Heh.. yeah, exactly. Just one new song, but that is better than nothing. And the good thing is that they have been on tour, so they are active.
Let’s hear one damn good song from Stratovarius, called The Land Of Ice And Snow. This video is a live recording from Finland in 2005 and it talks about Finland. Although some part of the lyrics are funny, such as “Where Koskenkorva flows” (Koskenkorva is our national booze),
Cradle Of Filth - The Forest Whispers My Name 2007-11-13 09:00:06 Here’s another great Cradle
of Filth video. This one is a live recording from a gig, but I don’t from which gig and when. This is a pretty good song, I enjoy. It is melodic but also cruel. Listen to the howl during the refrain. So simple but sounds good in this song, especially with Dani’s grunts. Oh, and the lyrics. I find them really interesting, almost brilliant.

Nightwish Music Videos Directed By Pro Antti Jokinen - Bye Bye Beautiful 2007-11-21 10:55:56 Nightwish is making money nowadays. The costs of making their new album were 500 000 euros which is pretty much for a metal band, so they probably expect a good revenue. Nightwish is clearly targeting to mainstream and expects good sales. Well, that’s nothing new and there is nothing bad in it. It is just interesting to see how far Nightwish will go.
Nightwish music videos are directed by Antti Jokinen, a professional Finnish director who has worked with many “big names”. When watching the Nightwish videos, especially the old ones and comparing them to Amaranth and Nemo, you can clearly see the development. The new Nightwish music videos are just perfectly made and they belong into the “top class”, let’s say. I am glad for that. It is always good to see bands of my homecountry becoming famous. I just wish this same would happen to Amorphis, C.O.B., Stam1na, Mokoma, Wintersun, etc..
According to Finnish media, the costs of making Nightwish video Nemo Read more:Nightwish

New In Flames Album Almost Ready 2007-11-20 09:58:41 Swedish In Flames
has been working with their new album and the work will soon be done. Peter Iwers says that the band has been working hard and they have been very active in studio. The new album is almost ready, only some fine-tuning is still ongoing. “This time it has been a lot of fun to all band members”, says Iwers.
In Flames is working in a studio in Sweden and the new album is planned to be released in April 2008. Band has recently made an agreement with Nuclear Blast Records, and so far the band seems to be very satisfied with the deal. Recently In Flames has been negotiating the Gigantour-tour with Finnish Children of Bodom.

A Video Of Hair Metal Bands 2007-11-19 17:04:25 As I lived my youth in the 80’s, I have been privilidged to see the rise and fall of hair metal bands. Do you remember bands like Motley Crew, Poison, Kiss, Hanoi Rocks, LA Guns, Slaughter, New York Dolls, Van Halen and Cinderella? I won’t even mention Bon Jovi, it sucks too much..
Looking back nowadays all that seems so funny, especially the clothing and hairstyles. Especially the hairstyle of Poison, it was really awesome. Man, Poison is the reason for our planets’ ozone holes because of their chemicals. Recently I came across with this video in Youtube and I wanted to share it with you. This video brings me back to 80’s. Although it is funny, I am glad that melodic death metal is here right now. I got enough hair metal in the 80’s and now the time is for something harder.

Australian Vanishing Point - New Album and a Video From Vanishing Point 2007-11-27 08:56:21 For long long time I have not got as good kicks from power or progressive metal music as I got when I discovered Australian
band Vanishing
Point. This great power metal group, Vanishing Point, comes from Melbourne, Australia. They have released four albums from which the latest one on this year. Vanishing Point was a good finding for me and I will order all four albums for sure.
I am not going to tell the whole history of Vanishing Point because it is already available in Wikipedia. Instead I would like to mention few interesting things about the band. The band has been founded back in 1990’s by vocalist Silvio Massaro, keyboards player Pep Sammartino, guitarists Chris Porcianko and Tom Vucur, drummer Jack Lukic and bassist Joel Del Mastro. The first album was released in 1996, but around 2000 they started to gain some real attention after supporting Yngwie Malmsteen, Nevermore, Sonata Arctica, Gamma Ray and Edguy. The band has played in big stages, such as Wacken Open Air festi Read more:Album
A Group Called Apocalyptica from Finland - Few Words About Apocalyptica Videos and Music Sheets 2007-11-26 08:25:24 Many years ago, a group called Apocalyptica, started to play Metallica cover songs just for fun. Apocalyptica was a cello quartet founded by the graduates of Sibelius Academy in Finland
. Back on those days they were different and some folks did not take them seriously. Anyhow, in few years they gained name in the metal music scene. They were different but they played very interesting metal music with their cellos.
Nowadays this group called Apocalyptica does not play Metallica covers that much, but instead have composed their own songs. Apocalyptica has played together with big names, such as Rammstein, Sandra Nasicin, Nina Hagen, Cristina Scabbia, Ville Valo (HIM), Dave Lombardo (Slayer) and Corey Taylor from Slipknot. In addition to those Apocalyptica has also contributed to the albums of other bands, such as Bullet for My Valentine. As a diamond to the top of the list I would like to mention Apocalyptica’s version of Edvard Grieg’s classical piece “Hall of the Mou Read more:Sheets

HELLsinki - The Home of Great Metal Bands 2007-11-24 03:46:10 HELLsinki, the cold and dark home of great metal bands. Being located far from big metropolis and cities such as New York, LA, Tokyo, Paris, Hellsinki has still become the home of many great metal bands. HELLsinki is the capitol of Finland with around 1 million inhabitants. Right now (Friday night) HELLsinki is rainy, dark and cold city, but on summer time it is very live, warm and nice city with lots of happenings, such as Tuska open-air metal festival. HELLsinki is a good place to live, I really enjoy. It is also worth of visiting, so just pack your luggage and book a flight to HELLsinki. Meet your favorite metalheads in On the Rocks bar or see your favorite Finnish metal band live in Tavastia club.
If HELLsinki is the home of great Finnish metal bands, who are those metal bands? Let’s drop few diamonds..

New Heavy Metal Band Rusty Eye Discovered - Rusty Eye Rocks! 2007-11-23 06:09:59 Erin promoted Rusty Eye in her comment yesterday. Because I am always interested in discovering new heave metal bands, I wanted to check this one out. This is a quick review of Rusty Eye and their music. This band really rocks and I encourage you to check it out.
Rusty Eye is not a new heavy metal band. Being formed in 1995 in Mexico City, has actually been around for pretty long time. In fact, they are almost as old as Children of Bodom, a great melodic death metal band. Rusty Eye is founded by its bassist and vocalist mr. Rust. Nowadays the band is located in Hollywood as many other great American metal bands.
Rusty Eye includes three people, mr. Rust behind bass and vocals, Jehu with guitar as well as Miss Randall behind drums and vocals. Rusty Eye recorded their first LP Rust N’ Roll in 2000 and the second one Cryogenic in 2005. After the second album the band won the Best Female Drummer of the Year Award” by LA music scene magazine. Children of Bodom - My Top 5 Children of Bodom Albums 2007-11-22 17:58:26 Finnish death metal band Children
of Bodom has become one of the best known Finnish metal bands in the world. In few years they have gained lots of fans from all around the world. They have been popular in northern countries for years, as well as in Japan, but now they are becoming known in United States as well. Children of Bodom have been around for more than ten years and they are still going strong. Currently they are making their new album in studio and fans have already been provided one new mp3, called Tie My Rope. The band has also recorded C.O.B New TV video from the studio which is available in Youtube.
I have been a big fan of Children of Bodom since 1999. I heard them first time while I was drinking beer with my room mate in university. I stopped drinking and asked, “Man, what is this? This fucking rocks!”. Next day I went to buy the CD for myself as well. The album was the legendary Hatebreeder, which is still my favorite Children of Bodom album. Because C.O.B.
Children Of Bodom - C.O.B. News TV Part 2 2007-12-04 07:19:42 I am so damn busy with my job today.. I slept zero hours last night and I feel like sleeping right now. I gotta wake up! I planned to write more about the great heavy metal bands of all time, but I have no time today. Instead I quickly announce that Children
of Bodom, the awesome Hatecrew from Finland, has released their second part of the superb C.O.B. News TV. Man, it is great. I wish I was there drinking booze with the guys. It definitely looks zillion times more interesting than sitting here in this f%$#£@& office.. Few jokes in this video are damn funny, but unfortunately you can understand them well only if you speak Finnish.
Children of Bodom News TV part 2 brings you to their studio in southern Finland where they are making the next Children of Bodom Album, called Blooddrunk. C.O.B. News TV Part 1 provided few clips from studio sessions during the first few days of recording. In the first News TV we saw clips of nice guitar sessions, while in the second part we are provid
Great Heavy Metal Bands of All Time - Accept 2007-12-03 17:34:46 Somewhere in the middle of the 80’s, I got a C-cassette from my brother. Together with Iron Maiden cassettes, it was one of my very first metal music cassettes. It was Balls to the Walls from Accept
. It was so damn good. I was fascinated. I listened to it every single day, several hours a day. Soon after that I received another Accept casette from my brother. This time it was Metal
Heart. This album became as my first milestone in metal music. Since that day I have been a headbanger and I have enjoyed every moment. Man, I love my brother because of those two Accept C-cassettes!
What an intro.. funny, right? Heavy
metal band Accept was one of my first contacts to metal music and it really was something awesome back in those days. Their powerful and masculine guitars combined with Udo Dirkschneider’s screaming voice were something different. Ok, there was also Judas Priest, but it was not similar to Accept, which was a bit slower and more traditional heavy metal with strong r Read more:Great

Lamb of God - a Heavy Metal Band from the United States of America 2007-12-02 17:46:07 Misleading title? May be a little bit. America
n metal band Lamb of God has become one of the rising stars in the metal sky. Lamb of God, founded in 1990, plays trash, progressive, groove and speed metal. Their music is not easy to categorise, but probably the mentioned genres describe their music best. Lamb of God is founded by its guitarist Mark Morton, bassist John Campbell and drummer Chris Adler. In the early days the band was called as Burn the Priest, but they changed the name in 2000 when they signed a record deal with Prosthetic Records.
Later Lamb of God signed a deal with Epic Records and was selected as the main band in the first MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball tour. Lamb of God got lots of attention which probably was a big help to get finance for their music videos. On those days Lamb of God released their Ashes to the Wake album as well as Terror and Hubris DVD. Another DVD was released in 2005, which is called Killadelphia. On 2006 Lamb of God released their latest Read more:Heavy

November Poll Results - Black, Death and Power Metal Most Popular 2007-12-01 17:21:13 November Poll is closed and the results are interesting. It seems that most of the visitors in this blog listen to black metal and death metal. This is interesting because black and death metal are not the most popular in general. One reason for this is probably that there are many black metal blogs who have linked to my blog and that’s why most of the visitors are black metal fans. The third voted genre is power metal, which I actually expected.
One thing that was really surprising was that industrial metal is not as popular as I expected. I have always thought that people listen to industrial metal pretty much, but it seems I was wrong. Additionally also doom metal was not as popular as I expected.
All in all, it is good for me to know that people listen to black, death and power metal in order to provide you interesting articles. People also voted for trash, speed, folk and symphonic metal, etc. as you can see in the results below. I cover most of the genres in this blog, s Read more:Metal
