Swallow The Sun - Out Of This Gloomy Light (live) 2007-10-25 07:29:09 Swallow The Sun, a doom/death metal band from Finland, has become pretty known here in their homecountry. The band was founded in 2000 and their third album (Hope) was released in February 2007. Swallow The Sun has lately toured in North America and will have tours in Europe as well. Check out the tour dates in their website. Swallow The Sun sounds good, I think I will buy their latest album.

To Die For - Hollow Heart 2007-10-25 05:29:57 Finnish gothic metal band To Die For might be in the end of their story. According to Metallimusiikki.net blog band’s vocalist Jarno Peräsalo has confirmed this in band’s MySpace site. As Peräsalo says, the future of To Die For is now open. The band has not decided whether to continue or not. In addition they have no deal with any company and they have no demos recorded. Band members may seek for inspiration from other projects and from other activities, so this might not really be the end of To Die For. We will see it in the future. Anyhow, To Die For has just released their fifth album, namely Wounds Wide Open. Here’s their music video for HollowHeart

Stam1na - Kadonneet Kolme Sanaa 2007-10-24 03:20:51 A couple of days ago I posted a video from a Finnish trash metal band, Stam1na. It is so damn good band that I am forced to post a bit more of it. I find Stam1na good because of their dynamic music which is not “fastforward overkill” as some trash metal music I have came across with. Instead it contains fast pieces as well as peaceful moments, good headbanging rhytms and interesting hooks. In addition to that they have also a very humoristic approach which makes them interesting. Heh.. that was a general opinnion

Damn, Scott Weiland sounds also good! They say, Duff McKagan asked Scott at gym to join Velvet Revolver. Scott had just broken up with Stone Temple Pilots and had been arrested on his birthday after a traffic collision. I’m glad that Scott joined Velvet Revolver. His voice definately fits with Revolver’s sound.

Blue. I consider this song as one of their best ones. Jyrki, the singer, has an amazingly unique low voice. It fits very well with the music they play. I have never seen them live. I wish I will have a change during their next tour.

It is said that Dark Tranquillity together with In Flames are the main developers of Göteborg-sound. I don’t actually care about that too much, I just listen to Dark Tranquillity because it rocks! Carcass - No Love Lost 2007-10-27 07:00:24 Carcass is back! They have reunited in this year and have started rehearsing for the upcoming tour. Carcass are confirmed to play in Wacken 2008. As said in the news release, 2008 will be the twentieth anniversary since the release of CARCASS’ first studio album. Many did not believe their reunion but now it looks for real. It is great to see them back!

. The band was founded already in 1984 in Indiana under the name Purgatory. Since the band moved to Florida and changed their name to to Iced Earth, they started to gain attention. Iced Earth had a break during the 1990’s. Not a wonder, 90’s was a difficult decade for metal music in general. They came back in 1995 with their album Burnt Offerings. After that they released several albums and had some changes in the lineup. The latest album from Iced Earth is Framing Armageddon, released in this year. Next year they are going to release the second part of it, namely Revelation Abomination.

Trivium, one of the rising stars in metal music. In few years they have established their position among the most famous metal bands. Since they signed a contract with Roadrunner Records and released “Ascendancy” in 2005, Trivium became known worldwide. Music magazine Kerrang! already named the band as “new Metallica”. Trivium will play here in Finland in December together with Arch Enemy, Machine Head and Dragonforce. Just guess who is going to bang his head in the audience

Norther - Cry (live) 2007-11-01 10:00:49 Norther, Norther.. Man, this band rocks! Yet another great melodic death metal band from Finland. This video is their “Cry”, live footage from a gig. Norther is going to release their next album (no name yet) in March 2008. Norther has been listed in Finnish oficial album list every time they have released. Probably the same will happen again. Great band, check it out!

Wintersun - Beyond The Dark Sun 2007-11-01 04:00:37 I don’t know why, but there are so fu*$%&#@ good metal bands here in northern countries. Wintersun from Finland is great example. It is founded by the ex-singer/guitarist of Ensiferum, Jari Mäenpää, and it plays progressive/melodic death metal music. Their debut album is “Wintersun”, released in 2004. The video below is their “Beyond The Dark Sun”. The band has been recording their new album “Time” for months, but they have not been able to release it due to various problems. I wish they will be able to release it this year. At least I would be very keen on getting that album. Just listen to the first guitar notes and the drums of the video below to figure out why I am so much interested in this band.

After that the tour continues in northern countries and in the middle of November Amon Amarth starts their North American tour, starting in San Diego and Phoenix. On 2008 Amon Amarth will also tour in Australia. So far Adeleide, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Brisbane have been confirmed. This is the first time for Amon Amarth to play in Australia. According to their website, the band is “thrilled about this tour”. So if you’re from Australia and interested in Amon Amarth, you better get your tickets quickly.

High School Massacre In Finland Today - No Music Videos Today 2007-11-07 16:36:15 It has been a sad day here in Finland
, very sad. There was a school massacre very close to my home. A young high school student opened fire at school killing 7 children and one teacher. It could have been the school of my kids, it was so near. Man, this world is so crazy.
I am not going to post any metal videos today. Instead I keep my blog silent and think about those children who will not see the Christmas this year. Rest in peace.

Falconer - Lord Of The Blacksmiths 2007-11-04 09:00:20 Continuing “Falconer Promoting Sunday” with another great metal song from Falconer, namely “Lord Of The Blacksmiths”. The previous one was Entering Eternity. This song is a bit different from those back in 2001, but the sounds remains the same typical Falconer sound. Man, I enjoy the vocals of Mathias Blad! Mathias background is in musical-theatres and he took an unusual step in his career by joining Falconer. Just like Tarja Turunen did by joining Nightwish. At least back on those days (late 1990’s) it was not very typical that classical soprano singer joins a metal band Anyhow, I am glad they did it because classical music has brought new sounds to metal music.

Falconer - Entering Eternity by Falconer (With Lyrics) 2007-11-04 03:00:29 Let’s call this Sunday as “Falconer Promotion Sunday”. I came across with Falconer, the Swedish power metal band, back in 2001 or something. I discovered their debut album “Falconer” in a little music store. I found this album damn good power metal, a good combination of guitar riffs and fantastic clear vocals.
Few words about Falconer. As already said, guys come from Sweden and play folk and power metal. Their debut album “Falconer” got much higher ratings and success than the band expected. Since those days Falconer has gone through some line-up changes but continues playing “traditional Falconer sound”.
I haven’t listened to Falconer too much lately, but this week I happend to discover it again. This video below is not an official music video for the song, but I wanted to share this song with you guys because it is one of my favourites from the “Falconer” album.
