The Wii - My thoughts
2007-10-04 04:00:39
There is finally a Wii in my house, my younger brother got one for his birthday, firstly I have to say that before we got one I saw the Wii as pretty “gimmicky” but now that I’ve actually played one, and clocked up some playing time, I have to say its anything but! If you really think about it the technology behind it is amazing. Prince of Persia is my favorite game at current, having played all the previous ones the experience is totally different  on the Wii. Even though “Rival Swords” is pretty much the same as “Two Thrones”, you just can’t beat actually being able to fight a sand creature on screen! Of course Wii Tennis is also now a passion of mine, never even liking tennis I’ve become almost addicted to it. Wii Play was in my mind crap. Too short, not really a game just a collection of mini-games, total waste of money! Wii sports is a good collection though I don’t have the time for the rest of the games on

Well I was at Ossory Youth today and was just using Google to search a few things, next thing since the computers there have IE [Amazing] a box of all the search history came up, heres what there was: 2 pac 2pac anacondas animated skins Arsenal FC art skins on bebo atom films bebo bebo art skins bebo.com blackle cars eyebrowy fachtna roe.com hash hash skins hiphop hothotdog.com hotmail mcd meteor.ie myspace nude grils [Their typo not mine!] paramone paramore riot the aibum pictures of art designs rappers ronaldo south park teen sex ticketmaster uktvG2 Top Gear utube you tube youtube Seems like Bebo, Porn and Hash are the top things to search at the moment! Oh and don’t forget about spelling youtube with a u! I do find it amazing however that someone would search Hash and Teen Sex while in Ossory youth, like all the computer screens are visible from the main desk, and theres always someone supervising! It might be time for them to invest in a web filter!

kdesvn - A linux SVN client
2007-10-03 05:00:58
One thing I noticed linux does not have, is a decent SVN client without you having to go through loads of terminal! That is until I found kdesvn! Don’t worry GNOME users, it works on GNOME perfectly fine! The project website is over here, or for Ubuntu users: sudo apt-get install kdesvn Could it get any simplier than that? The features, anything you expect of a standard SVN client, without all the dazzle effects!

Playlist Mix Podcast is back! Thanks Ken, I missed it dearly! Design Shack have an amazing gallery of website / blog designs as well as some great tutorials on design. Thinking of designing a new website and looking for inspiration, definitely a website to hit! PaperBackSwap, a website that you can swap books with other people online, in a new way, with apparently no risk’s looks like an amazing idea! I’d definitely use it if there was an Irish version! Maybe that can be a Christmas Project for me if no one else has or does set it up! Did Mac think when they brought out these Mac vs Windows videos that it would get this far? Digg v Thoof

Blogs, John Burns doesn’t get them!
2007-10-03 02:04:56
So the most recent explosion around the blogosphere is Mr. John Burns from Monster.ie acting like any other “suit” in any other big company and threatening legal action to not only Michele but Tom too! Now imagine that! Stupidity at its finest! Oh, but if that wasn’t enough, John Burns from Monster.ie who obviously doesn’t understand the terrifying concept of “he fucked up, and bad” leaves Tom a nice little voicemail right here of how he finds it extremely irresponsible for Tom to put his details on his blog and quote: take down what you have put up about me, remove my name and replace it with somebody else’s immediately… I will definitely be taking this forward Oh that’s right, blame someone else for the spam I sent out! Happy days ahead for this guy! I have to wonder which lawyer this guy got legal advice off! I spam you, you tell people, I sue you. I personally think ^ that is what he is trying to say! Very bullyish! Of course its

Screenshot Day!
2007-10-11 03:00:42
Screenshot ’s amaze me! I love looking at other people’s screenshots, to see what their desktop is like and what programs they have installed. Its like a little insight into the persons life! So here is mine! I have the microsoft Zune theme installed [its free], getting Windows out of that default blueness, and my desktop background is from desktopography.net! How about you guys? Post a Screenshot in the format I have. Start menu open! Desktop visible! Its not only cool, but if you rant on like this. You can make a whole post about it! Yes I was stuck for a post!

Free Photoshop Tutorials!
2007-10-11 02:00:55
Today I thought I would do a bit of linkage on tutorials for Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Everyone seems to want them these days! First up is TutorialStuff.com who have an amazing amount of tutorials for not only Photoshop and Dreamweaver. But Fireworks, Flash, 3DS Max, ASP, Java, PHP and amazingly Firefox and IE. Of course they have alot of Photoshop tutorials having 360! The tutorials are not in flash but do have pictures to show you what you should be doing! Worth checking out! Next on the line is another amazing resource, MickM.com which I prefer personally over Tutorial stuff just because they have articles written better and they tend to be the more interesting things to do in your free time! Again tutorials are not in flash! Having  around 150 tutorials though this website is not to be dismissed! Lastly, the big daddy of them all! Tutorialized! This website has tutorials for more things than I can count let alone write down! Ranging from graphics programs like Phot

Wifi Detecting T-Shirt!

First things first! I want! You can purchase it over here! But isn’t this an amazing thing? Basically the blue bits are LEDS that will show the signal strength of a wireless network if you are close to one! I’m seriously getting one of these.. at some point when I can afford it! I’d walk around town all day just staring at my… t-shirt! And don’t get me started on how much of a laugh it would be at something like Podcamp! The minute the wireless network goes up your lighting up! Alerting everyone the Internet is on, without disturbing a person! Mmm.. Yes I have plans for this one!

Trillian for Mac, and Macs Freeze?
2007-10-10 03:00:01
Surprised to see that as a title I bet! True I rarely write Mac News, only really liking the Mac Book Pro. Don’t get me started on iMacs! But we have three interesting pieces of news so here you are fanboys Trillian will be coming to Mac soon! Of course it will be minimal compared to Trillian for Windows for a while, but still, nice to see something decide to go Mac! Read more here. Here is another Apple fanboy! Has a whole room full of Macs, he puts all you other fanboys to shame! The new iMacs apparently freeze alot. Didn’t the old ones too? Whats the big deal? Windows gets virus’s. Mac freezes for indefinite amounts of time. Linux is too complicated for the average user but perfect!

Google Purchase Jaiku
2007-10-10 02:00:16
Well as you’ve heard, Google did infact purchase Jaiku! Honestly, I did not see this one coming! I just saw Jaiku as being.. well, Jaiku! But there you have it Google now own another company! So what will come from this? Hopefully it will be free to update Jaiku! But if that does happen I see it happening in the US first. Ireland will be next to last! I’d love to see Jaiku eventually port up with Google Talk too, make the bot more stable. On the more obvious of sides Twitter will never be as stable as Jaiku now! Who see’s Yahoo picking up Twitter? Overall this should be a fun one to watch! Keep your eyes peeled!

FeedDemon - RSS Reader
2007-10-09 02:00:07
Recently I have been using the trial version of “FeedDemon” and I have to say I’m quiet happy with the features, before that I was using “FeedReader ” which had some weird flaws like scrolling over to the right automatically if I pressed down to read the next item! Aswell as not being able to mark items as important and just generally having to stick with reading full view content. However FeedDemon allows you to choose how you would like to read your feeds, from just titles, to summaries to full posts! Brilliantly made and certainly helps reading 36 blogs in a couple of minutes!

How Much is your Blog worth?
2007-10-08 03:00:45
This is one that goes around every now and again! A pretty old thing but I decided today to check how much my blog was worth the result? My blog is worth $5,645.40. Now of course that’s really nothing, even though I’d take a trade in option! For Example: Alexia’s blog is worth $18,629.82. Getting bigger: Ken’s blog is worth $57,018.54. Getting crazy big, Tom’s blog is worth $205,492.56. And another little jump; Damien’s blog is worth $208,315.26. How much is your blog worth? I feel like giving a bit of link love today, so IRISH BLOGGERS ONLY add a comment with the website link of your comment filled out and I’ll add you too this list. We could even have as much fun to see how much the entire Irish Blogosphere is worth! Post Powered by How Much is your blog worth!

Supporting Commenter’s
2007-10-08 02:00:27
This morning I was looking at my Wordpress comments and I only just realized that Wordpress shoves in a “nofollow” into the website link put in by commenter’s. Disgusted I loaded up Google and did abit of searching on the topic, I then found the No NoFollow community which basically believes in allowing a “follow” tag for commenter’s website’s! There is a lovely list of plugins you can use to disable the “nofollow” tag in Wordpress links all listed here. So commenter’s rejoice, following is happening!

Wordpress Series Posts
2007-10-25 02:00:48
I heard about a brilliant wordpress plugin yesterday from a source that I have forgotten, I tend to bookmark links and just forget where I got them but anyway the plugin is: In-Series In Series is a plugin that lets you write series of posts in WordPress, without having to deal with the hassle of manually writing up tables of contents or “next” and “previous” links in each post. It adds a new set of controls to the post editing screen, allowing you to add the post to a series (new or existing), re-order the post within a series it’s already in, or remove the post from a series entirely. I decided it was worth a review so installed it on my blog only to find that I have done series! Bit of Blogger Brain loss right here! So its now setup on my two series, which I had forgotten about and will now be completing: Learn PHP SeriesFree Blogging Series

Four Demonoid Invites To Go!!
2007-10-24 05:00:32
There was so many request’s for invites on my last post that I actually had to close comments on it! After finally getting around to the majority of people who didn’t seem to be bots or just sketchy characters I have four invitation codes left! These will go to readers that I am familiar with or in the event that readers don’t respond within a week, the first four people to comment! Note: I will try get as many people as possible an invite code but the invites generate over a set amount of time + how much I download / upload! I really don’t need anymore Linux distributions!

I thought the iPhone news would stop!
2007-10-24 04:00:44
I thought the iPhone news would stop! The iPhone was released on June 11th, more than four months ago! Yet apple news is nothing but iPhone, iPhone, iPhone, iPhone - get my drift? Seriously, I’m starting to think it just won’t stop, its going to be a never ending story of unlocked, locked, launched in Europe, locked in Europe, iPhone version 2. It makes you think though doesn’t it? The amount of media surrounding this little invention, does anyone remember this much over anything else at all? Let alone a phone? Think about that and let me know if you can! Because I seriously.. can not!

Sims 2 - Seriously Addicting
2007-10-24 02:00:57
Ok first things first, I know your probably going Sims? What the hell Sean? That’s a crap game! Up to two days ago I would have agreed with you and laughed of the thought of actually playing it for more than a few minutes to kill someone in the game via starvation / fire! But hear me out here, this game sold one million copies in its first ten days of being on sale! Fanatics hey? You have to think how people could be that fanatic about a game that can’t be much different than Sims 1. The Sims has spawned five expansions, deluxe, console and online versions, and has been translated into 17 languages around the world. “Today this game, The Sims, has evolved to become the world’s most successful PC game and a global multi-platform success. The Sims’ incredible appeal among teens and young adults, and especially among female players, has broken all the old established rules about video games,” he added. An estimated 60 per cent of The Sims pla

JSMS 2.3 Released
2007-10-23 10:15:20
Version 3.2 has now been released and you can download it here! Have to say I’m really impressed with Finbarr and the team on this release. I previously interviewed Finbarr Brady which you can read here, however on to what this release contains! A Send button - Works a charm, now when I click enter by mistake a message doesn’t send, unless of course I want it to then I can re-enable it in JSMSPreferences. Support for Section Dividers in Phone Book - You can now add little micro groups like “Friends” “Work” etc. and your numbers will be organized through this! Menubar - Now we have Copy/Cut/Paste options for those of you who don’t know the control keys off by heart! A tools menu, for managing the phone book and what not! And a help menu! Lastly, Update Checker - JSMS will now silently check if new releases are available! Handy to say the least! Updates can also be forced manually! So go download it! Alot of work has obviously been put into th

An interesting little thing I came across today is the whole internet on one page basically to quote from the webiste: It’s a map of the entire Internet . At the moment we’re displaying the owner of each IP address (grey boxes), and which IP addresses are listed on the Spamhaus XBL blacklist (red dots), but we should be able to show other things in the future. Can’t explain it better than that! Go check it out at The Whole Internet!

Meteor Customer Service
2007-10-22 08:32:37
So yes, I dropped my very lovely Sony Ericsson k550i in the River Liffey on Saturday! Now I’m back to the k750i, my luck with phone’s isn’t that brilliant and that k550i had already been mugged off me and confiscated off me in school for trying to update Jaiku! So I guess that’s the end of that chapter! I’ll miss the high quality camera! Moving on to what I actually meant to post about however is the complicated procedure I had to go through last night to get a Meteor Replacement Sim-card. Firstly I ring Meteor and they tell me I can head down to Extra-Vision and get a Sim-card there. So that I do! Walking down to extra-vision and getting €10 credit to get a free Meteor Sim-card. Ringing back Meteor customer care there is a “problem” with the sim-card and there must have been a mistake in the shop when handing it to me so I have to go and get another sim-card from Extra Vision. Getting back to the house after getting it replaced I’m
