Random Links 2007-11-06 00:13:15 I’ve been meaning to post these for awhile but my never ending to do list has kept me from it so you get them all at once.
Link Tiger is a nifty little site that allows you to enter your website address and it scans the entire site for broken links. Once a week they send you an email with the results. This has ended up being quite handy for me.
Last Minute Auction grabs all of the auctions from Ebay ending in an hour or less that are still under $1.00. A lot of these have ridiculous shipping but occasionally you can find a good deal.
Just Jared : Quicker then Perez and not so mean.
The San Diego Dollar is my new website that I can’t seem to get motivated to start. If I post this link it may encourage me to to do just that. The problem is I can’t find a layout I like and it’s bumming me out.

Carnival Of Personal Finance 2007-11-05 23:09:11 The carnival of personal finance edition 125 was hosted by My Two Dollars and had about a zillion posts.
These are my favorites in no particular order:
Money And Such wrote an excellent post about money and marriage
Graceful Retirement had an interesting post on adopting foster kids. My mother adopted internationally so I always find posts on other people’s adoption experiences interesting.
Frugal Dollar on the rich get richer by acting poor.
Money Smart Life had a great post on why some people are horrible with money.
Single Guy Money found a cheap alternative to Starbucks. My husband agrees.
Jlogged reminds us that a free haircut is a super haircut!
Smart Investing and Money Management on early retirement - illusion or reality.
Cash Money Life on how to build a CD ladder.
The Dividend Guy on how he involves his family in investing.
Million Dollar Journey on landlording and screening tenants.

Free Makes Me Happy 2007-11-05 21:51:42 We spent the day shopping. I was in desperate need of some jeans for the upcoming winter so we took the surprise $100 and off we went. The money is gone, jeans are in my possession. Life is good.
We took a small detour before jean shopping to get the extra special deal I found at Ralphs. This Sunday’s paper had three coupons for $1.00 off different types of Kellogg’s cereal.
Ralphs had said cereal on sale for $2.00 a box. Ralphs doubles coupons = free cereal! Score! One of the coupons was good for the new Fruit Loop straws (also on sale) so I chose that instead of one box of cereal as our cabinets are kind of over flowing with cereal right now.
The thought of sucking up milk through a cereal straw kind of makes me nauseous but I figure if I’m in a hurry I can just grab one to eat on the way out the door. Sure I could grab an apple, but apples aren’t free.
Edited to add : We went down by the border to the Las Americas Outlet Mall to shop today. When we got off th Read more:Happy
Fabulous Savings 2007-11-05 21:31:46 I received an email from FabulousSavings
.com today asking me to link to their sweepstakes. I checked out the site briefly and it looks to be a pretty good resource for online discounts.
Anyway, I’m a sucker for instant win sweepstakes so I played (I didn’t win). You can play once a day until Jan. 31. Tons of prizes.

Sunday Search 2007-11-11 22:33:49 The weeks most popular searches that ended up here.
“This blog uses the CommentLuv plugin” - Why yes, I do! CommentLuv is a nifty little plugin for Wordpress that when someone leaves a comment it searches their RSS feed (assuming they leave a url) to find the latest post. Under the comment, there is a link to that post. I think it’s pretty cool.
“swag bucks” - Swag bucks are the newest thing over at Search
and Win. When you search one of their many search sites, you have the chance to win prizes or Swag Bucks. Swag Bucks are all kept in the same account no matter which search site you win on. When you have accumulated enough they can be traded in at the Swag Store for various prizes.
“printable tylenol coupon” - I would guess, this $5 coupon is what your looking for. You can print this coupon two times. This is an excellent coupon that could easily be traded for free Tylenol so don’t miss out.

A Day At CVS & Walgreens 2007-11-11 22:03:47 Football has been on all a day and I see no end in sight. I took a break from the men in my living room and went to CVS and Walgreens
.
I spent a total of 24.13 at both stores and received $17.00 in Extra Bucks from CVS. Which brings my actual total to $7.13.
This is my load
The Excedrin 100 count boxes (one even had a free 24 count bonus box) were on sale this week for $6.00 each at Walgreens. Buy two and receive $2 in Register Rewards (cash for your next visit). I had two $3 off coupons (from Sunday inserts) bringing the total to $3.00 each. Add with the register rewards, they are only $2.00 a box. My register rewards didn’t print so I was refunded $2.00, even better.
The batteries (.99 each), chicken broth (.39 each), and Frenchs onions (.99 add a manufacturers coupon for cheaper) were all bought with Walgreens in ad coupons.
Purell Foaming Hand Sanitizer is on sale for $3.49. I had a $1.50 off coupon (Sunday insert) and a $2.50 coupon from the Easy Saver Catalog which made th

Saturday Shorts 2007-11-11 01:24:28 Ack! Saturday
is almost over…. Here are the most informative and/or entertaining short posts I’ve read this week.
My favorite short post of the week was from my Lanie. She has entertained me this entire week with crazy kid doing tootsie roll. I love him.
I’ve lost the blog I found this on but here is the link to Little Becky on YouTube.
I must have been in a visual mood this week. I also enjoyed the spoof of Little Superstar Chip found on YouTube.
Not super short but I enjoy reading anything that doesn’t have Dave Ramsey and the most fabulous man on earth in the same article. I’m sure Dave Ramsey is wonderful but I wouldn’t know. I’m a little scared to go near anything with Dave and Ramsey attached to it. I feel like it might be a cult I’ll be sucked into. Can you say Heaven’s Gate? I kid, I kid.

Going Generic - Or Not 2007-11-11 03:23:39 Got No Dough recently posted her favorite generic things and things she won’t buy generic. I thought this was pretty interesting and got me thinking about my own lists.
My Go Generic
List
1. Trash Bags - I refuse to buy expensive trash bags. Sure there is always the chance it will rip and fall all over the floor but our trash cans are pretty small so it hasn’t happened yet.
2. Toilet Paper - I wouldn’t say I prefer generic toilet paper but I always buy it. Angel Soft is about as classy as we get in this department.
3. Laundry Detergent - It all works the same if you ask me. I wash, they smell good, no weird stains. Good enough.
4. Canned Vegetables - Or frozen vegtables for that matter. If your not buying fresh organic veggies it’s all the same.
5. Clothes - As long as I don’t look like a balloon animal, the cheaper the better.
My Never Generic List
1. Toothpaste - If it’s not name brand, it’s not going in my mouth. I’m sure it’s al Read more:Going
Black Friday 2007-11-10 17:51:48 Now I’m not a BlackFriday
kind of girl. I don’t get up before the sun to get any kind of deal. Ever. I don’t like 12,000 people running around me like it’s the last sale on earth. And quite honestly if you are on my gift list your probably getting a gift card so there is no need for me to venture out into the mess that is Black Friday
.
If you are unfamiliar with Black Friday. It’s the day after Thanksgiving. The day the stores have the most fantastic deals on the planet. The day you wait outside the door before they open and then trample everyone (or get trampled) when they do. Very exciting. But not for me.
Here is a great site that lists all of the Black Friday ads.

12 Days Of Christmas 2007-11-17 00:57:20 I thought I would share a Christmas
tradition my mother has been doing for many years. Maybe you might like to try it for your kids (or adults) this year.
She buys twelve small gifts (about a $1 each), wraps them and tapes numbers 1 - 12 on them. On the 13th of December (twelve days before Christmas) the recipient opens the first package (#12), the 14th of December, #11, and so on until the 24th of December when the last present (#1) is opened.
Kids love this because it makes those last few days before Christmas not so difficult. It’s hard looking at all those presents under the tree and not being able to open any of them! This way they get to open a little something everyday.
You also won’t have to answer that “how many more days question” over and over. He/she will know when they get to package number one, the next day is Christmas.
I’m in my thirties and she still sends me (and my husband) the twelve days of Christmas presents. Oh, and I still enjoy eve

Shipping On A Budget 2007-11-15 16:55:00 My family all live a thousand plus miles away. We don’t generally see each other on the holidays so gifts must be shipped. This can become costly if your shipping multiple items.
Here are three tips to reduce your shipping costs this Christmas.
1. Flat Rate Boxes : You can order flat rate boxes from the USPS website or pick them up at your local post office. These are completely free and can ship anywhere in the U.S. for only $8.95 regardless of weight. I use these at Christmas and throughout the year to send care packages to family.
2. Free Shipping
: We all know by now you can find great deals online. Sending gifts this way is even easier but sometimes the shipping costs can ruin a good deal. Search online for free shipping codes, here is a good place to start. A lot of sites will offer free shipping on your first order by signing up for their newsletter. Look on the website for promotions.
3. Gift Cards : Many people find gift cards rather impersonal. I don’t necessaril

Backpack Overload 2007-11-15 14:10:56 Today was my next to last stop for weekly shopping, Ralphs. I might go to Food 4 Less on Saturday or I may just skip it. As of today I’m a little burnt out but that could be because I overloaded my backpack, walked home and it’s burning hot outside.
When I left the store today I was a little disappointed about my total. Yesterday when leaving Albertsons I felt the same way. I’ve found that if I’m not walking out of the store for well under $10 I feel like I’m a coupon failure!
Before coupons and Ralphs Club my total was $37.55.
I paid $11.41.
If your in Southern California, Ralphs has 10lb bags of potatoes for .99 … Mashed potatoes are the best thing about Thanksgiving so be sure and get a bag!
For $11.41 I picked up the potatoes, two bags of CW frozen veggies, six cans of other vegetables, two boxes of onion soup mix, two Wishbone dressings, two Horizon Organic yogurts, three boxes of pudding, one pie crust, deli cole slaw marked down to .50, an Read more:Backpack

Refurbished Ipods 2007-11-20 13:31:37 The Apple store currently has refurbished Ipod Shuffles for $49.00!
They also have Nano’s for $79.00 with free shipping.
All of Apple’s refurbished products come with a one year warranty. I bought one last year and it’s still going strong. Mine came in an Apple box just like it was new, I’m assuming this is still how the ship.
