Breaking News: Travis Henry Smoking Some Hookah
2007-10-04 20:24:00
You may have seen this already but if you haven’t, here ya go. Not only is the feature back for the Denver Broncos day to day with an ankle injury but Fox 31 in Denver is reporting that Travis Henry has tested positive for smokin’ pot and could be facing a suspension. If you didn’t pick-up Selvin Young after reading our waiver wire reports from the other day, you are definitely going to want to check on his availability now. Young looked very good against the Colts last Sunday and showed that he could get the job done if called upon. A few months back I did a post on how Henry has fathered nine children by four different women. Travis sure likes to party and if you can cash in Selvin Young so can you.

Your Fantasy Football Start’em Sit’em and Sleepers for Week 5
2007-10-03 21:34:46
With four weeks in the books I figured I would switch up my start’em sit’em and sleeper list. I will still list two players who I think deserve a start and two players that I think should ride the pine. However I’ve added another section that will deal with some of the gray area associated with some players. This section is called Sleepers : Don’t be surprised if. It will deal with players who, regardless of stature, will perform better or worse than expected. Rather than tell you that you should start or sit these players - since I do not know every circumstance surrounding your team in particular - I am just offering up a little food for thought for those of you who have tough decisions to make this weekend. So lets get to it. (more…)

If you have any start’em or sit’em questions for this week, or any other fantasy related questions, you can post them on the Bruno Boys Forum and we will answer them on the podcast.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire and Sleepers Watch Week 5
2007-10-01 08:21:16
Every week this year there has been some solid players available at each position. That is why, bad draft or not, if you are good at playing the waiver wire you can build a pretty good team down the stretch. Here are some waiver wire and sleeper picks that I didn’t see on the Bruno Boys week five waiver wire report. Check them out: Arizona Defense - They were able to keep a very good Pittsburgh offense in check for most of the game and have a pretty decent schedule coming up starting with the Rams in week 5. Selvin Young RB (DEN) - Keep an eye on Travis Henry’s injury because if he misses any time this is the guy who will step in. Young looked very good yesterday so I find a way to add him now if you have Henry or if you have room to stash him on the bench. (more…)

Check Out This New Fantasy Sports Site
2007-09-29 13:20:42
I just wanted to let you in on a new fantasy sports site I was made aware of yesterday. It is called Fantasy Sports Live and I think it is pretty cool. They have weekly fantasy football contests (also daily fantasy baseball if you’re into that). You can win real cash every week. So instead of waiting for the end of the season in all your other leagues, you could start earning those entry fees back right now. I’ve already picked out a team in a 10 team $10 league. It pays three places with the winner getting $45. Not a bad return on investment. Anyway, stop by and check it out. When you sign-up for Fantasy Sports Live just use the coupon code “ffgoat” and they’ll give you a few bucks for free (if you deposit $50, they will add $10 more to your account).

The Goat Get His First Blogger League Win
2007-09-29 13:13:12
Finally, after a disappointing 0-2 start I am on the board with a win over the Fantasy Football Librarian. The victory is bittersweet though because the Librarian is a good friend. You can see the box score by clicking the image to the right. I attribute my first win to a trade I made last week. I sent Maurice Jone-Drew and Lee Evans packing. I couldn’t stand looking at the goose eggs on the score board every week. I wouldn’t have drafted either of them if I didn’t have to do an autodraft anyway. I traded them both for Clinton Portis. There were a few other players involved but they were in the deal mainly to keep the roster numbers even. So far so good. Portis outscored both Jones-Drew and Evans last week. I also inserted Ron Curry into the line-up for Evans. Curry posted over 60 yards a TD.

How To Please Those Pittsburgh Steelers
2007-09-28 08:10:45
I’ve been meaning to show this to you for a few weeks now. Here’s another glaring example of how good life can be if you are working in the NFL. Here is report on The Smoking Gun website showing you the 17 page hotel requirements of Pittsburgh Steelers when they are on the road. How would you like to be the one coordinating the demands?

Fantasy Football MVP Week 6: Adrian Peterson (Video)
2007-10-16 16:30:05
It’s time to honor the top fantasy performer of the week with a few words and a little video. This week, with so many great performances, selecting one player was a tough call. Or was it? LaDainian Tomlinson and Tom Brady were both huge this week. However, (more…)

Darby The Darkhorse?
2007-10-14 10:38:02
Need a running back in a deep league. A sleeper? An guy to tuck away on a deep roster? Well, keep an eye on Kenneth Darby from Tampa Bay this Sunday. Here’s an article about Kenneth Darby on Florida Today discussing how he will get a chance this week. He faces a tough Tennessee defense but if he does anything you could be looking at a late season bloomer. Mark it down. Kenneth Darby RB Tampa Bay. Let’s see how he does today. Wow. What the hell! Here’s a new story reporting that Darby was cut and now Lionel Gates is the back-up to Graham in Tampa Bay. Tricky stuff.

It has been a few weeks since I’ve done a Blogger ’s Blitz but I have a bunch of great sites to share with you today. First, for those of you who are new or don’t remember, here’s the skinny on this periodic post. And Your Favorite NFL Team is…
2007-10-12 11:53:40
Here’s an interesting read for you. Some company called Harris Interactive poll to rank NFL teams by popularity. There are not many surprises here; Dallas, Indy, Green Bay, Pittsburgh and the Bears are all in the top five. They do check on a few other facts. They found things like; almost 50% of the US adult population follows NFL football and of those 63% are male. No big surprises here either. However, they also found that the more education a person has, the more likely they are to follow NFL football. How cool is that? You and I run with a pretty smart crowd.

Your Fantasy Football Start’em Sit’em and Sleepers for Week 6
2007-10-10 22:37:54
This week is a little tricky due to the fact that there are a whopping six teams on bye. But, I do think there are some definite starts, sits and sleepers. Before I start, here’s a little reminder of how I have things set up. I still list two players who I think deserve a start and two players that I think should ride the pine. Also, I’ve added another section that will deal with some of the gray area associated with some players. This section is called Sleepers : Don’t be surprised if. Fantasy Football MVP Week 5: Kenton Keith (Video)
2007-10-09 19:30:42
Starting today, and going until the end of the season, I am going to honor one of the top fantasy performers from the previous weeks action. I will say a few words and put up a little video for you to watch. This week we go to Indy and give props to Kenton Keith . Last Sunday Kenton posted 121 on the ground, 5 receptions for 37 through the air and two touchdowns. This put a huge smile on unsuspecting fantasy owners everywhere. You may be wondering; who is this guy? Where did he come from? Well here’s a little throwback footage of Kenton from his days in the Canadian Football League. The holes are a little smaller in the NFL, but as it turns out, this stuff is old hat for KK. Check it out.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire and Sleepers Watch Week 6
2007-10-08 08:12:29
Week after week the injuries keep piling up. If you’ve been playing the waiver wire correctly over the past month you should have yourself a team that is solid and deep regardless of how good or bad you draft. Here are some waiver wire and sleeper picks that I didn’t see on the Bruno Boys week six waiver wire report. Some of these guys could help you out now or just provide you with some depth and/or upside on your bench. Check them out: (more…)

Your Fantasy Football Start’em Sit’em and Sleepers for Week 7
2007-10-17 23:34:18
Did you know that Vinnie Testaverde outperformed Brett Favre, Vince Young and Kurt Warner last Sunday? Crazy isn’t it? Well this week I looked and I looked and I think I found a prediction almost as ludicrous. But, before I tell you who and why, here’s a little reminder of how I have things set up. I list two players who I think deserve a start and two players that I think should ride the pine. Also, I have another section that will deal with some of the gray area associated with some players. Fantasy Football MVP Week 7: Tom Brady (Video)
2007-10-23 22:33:59
As I pondered who I would choose as this weeks fantasy football MVP, there were a few performances that stood out to me. There was Rob Bironas’ eight field goals in wild game in Houston. For every guys lucky enough to start him there was another guy really pissed off about losing because of him. Then there was back-up running back Kenny Watson’s three TD, 130 yard performance against the Jets. You know Marshawn Lynch is licking his chops as he watches the game tape on this one. Those performances most likely were difference makers in fantasy football contests everywhere and they without a doubt deserve their props. However, there is one performance that stands far and above the rest. (more…)

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire and Sleepers Watch Week 9
2007-10-28 22:12:10
Here are some waiver wire and sleeper picks for you to check out. There are a ton of guys on my list because I play in some deeper leagues. I need to look a little deeper than most. May be available now… **UPDATE** Ryan Grant RB (GB) - After his showing in Denver he should get at least one more start. Pick him up and be glad you did. Adimchinobe Echemandu RB (HOU) - Not sure how you say`his name but he looked pretty decent against San Diego until the game got out of hand. 10 carries for 62 yards along with 2 catches for 11. Ahman Green was a last second mystery scratch and they cut Gado which gave AE had an opportunity to show something; he did. If you have a deep bench check him out because ya never know. (more…)

Fantasy Football MVP Week 8: Drew Brees (Video)
2007-10-31 07:33:04
After adding two rushing touchdowns to his usual 300 yards and three through the air, I could’ve easily picked Tom Brady for this weeks Fantasy Football MVP. However, I picked him last week and how fun would that be? Instead I picked Drew Brees with his 31 of 39 for 336 and four TD performance against the Niners. Just when you thought you wasted a high draft pick, he comes through with big time performance. Best of all if you own him, the Saints are starting to pick up some steam. There is good reason to expect more games like this before the fantasy season is over. After the Jaguars this week he has games against the Rams, Texans, Carolina and Atlanta. (more…)
