Blog Monetization: Kontera Content Link, Should you use it?
2007-10-05 21:06:46
Kontera Content Link is a great idea for the bloggers out there, the concept seems pretty good. At the end of the day we must ask ourselves, does it make money for bloggers? The answer is not really, Although many services which have come out have flourished (Text Link Ads, ReviewMe, PayPerPost etc…) Kontera did not really get a lot of approval with many bloggers out there…why? Maybe it is the fact that they require at least 500,000 pageviews for it to supposedly work effectively. That being said it has made money for two blogs which I have read, John Chow (most probably through referrals and not the actual sponsored links) and Courtney Tuttle (only accounting for 31% of the income). Court seems to like the idea of Kontera and it has apparently been a good source of income…so, should all bloggers use it? No. Kontera will probably work best if you have a very focussed topical blog because it will come up with more relevant ads based on the keywords you are using.

New Concept: WidgetBucks & AuctionAds, I’m Not Buying.
2007-10-05 04:40:06
Why do people use AuctionAds and WidgetBucks on their sites? I personally do not use any services which display auction products, why? because they don’t work. How do I know this? Well, I would not buy a product advertised on someone else’s site, even if it had ‘best price’ all over it. The top three reasons why I would not and people would not want to buy products. It involves me having to go through a checkout process, some are long and complicated. My credit may or may not be maxed out already. I just cant’t be bothered. I am not specifically looking for products at the site I am on. I have to this date not bought an actual material product online. The probability of someone clicking on an AuctionAd or WidgetBuck ad and going to buy the product is much less than the probability of someone clicking on a PayPerClick ad or another affiliate program ad. The fact of the matter is that people are reluctant to spend money. Look at the bigger picture…h

Blog Review: JohnCow.com Revamped
2007-10-05 03:07:27
The recent improvement to the JohnCow.com website has it’s good and bad points. The page is nice, visually the banner is pleasing, but on the left and right hand side below the banner there is too much going on, you have ads, pictures, recent readers from mybloglog…it is just a very busy splashpage, almost busy enough for me to navigate away from the page. The page also has some good points, the navigation is very clear on top of the page in a horizontal line up (this is an absolute must for any good blog, as they tend to get very hectic from time to time). One thing which really impressed me was the new orange dropdown menus, a great way to keep visitors on the same page, not needing them to navigate away from the page. That is definitely two thumbs up material! The JohnCow.com homepage has not really changed much except for making it more visually pleasing to the eye. Although a blog change can be a good thing, it must be thought out, planned and made BETTER. Do not, I

Blog Strategy: Get Ranked #1 On Google
2007-10-04 04:47:38
So…you type in ‘make money online’ in Google search and you find some ‘ok’ websites, but where are all the good ones? They are probably hiding in the third or fourth page of search results (ProBlogger and Courtney Tuttle). Why do such good sites have a search rank of page 3 for the term ‘make money online’? ProBlogger and CourtneyTuttle have two things in common, they blog about making money online, talk about some good SEO tips and are successful blogs. If ProBlogger has 30,000+ RSS subscribers and Courtney Tuttle has about 500+ RSS subscribers…why are they so badly ranked when they are more looked at than moneymakerinfo.blogspot.com? (which is ranked #1 for the search term? The answer is simple and it will get you very angry…ProBlogger, Courtney Tuttle, John Chow etc…all share one thing in common, their domains do not contain these extremely important keywords in them. make money online This WILL affect your ranking,

Blog Promotion: DailyMoolah Feature Story
2007-10-03 07:18:08
DailyMoolah advertised on JohnChow.com earlier this year. The website successfully attained many visitors as can be seen in the Alexa chart. This proves why it is worthwhile to advertise on websites which are more popular than yours. Many people may know this knowledge but are scared to give up big bucks to advertise their websites. It took JohnChow a while to build traffic, why waste your time (another year or two years) to build your own traffic when you can piggy back on JohnChow’s clients for a few bucks. DailyMoolah is a story to remember, look at the traffic statistics, this blog began getting a lot of traffic in mid July 2007, and that is when the 125×125 ad was placed on the Chow man’s site. People clicked on the link and went to dailymoolah.com, they liked what they saw at DailyMoolah and they subscribed to the RSS feed and kept on coming back to the site for more. The site, www.dailymoolah.com is now so successful it has an Alexa ranking of 105,433 and see

Blog Review: CarlOcab.com
2007-10-02 07:29:04
CarlOcab.com provides readers with content relating to making money online…with a thirteen year old. Although conspiracies have been raised concerning the validity of the writer let’s get to the point. Is it a good blog? Yes and No. I have my qwerks relating about the site. Visually the site is not the best, it has lined up 8 (125×125) ads on the right hand side, how utterly displeasing, but I guess if he thinks he can make money out of them, let him…even though I would try not to put the Google Adsense ad right next door to the block ads. All in all, Carl does make money from the blog, but I believe this money could be quadrupled if he took some time out to reposition his ads, make it a bit more visually pleasing etc…After all, a picture is worth 1000+++ words, and it is more and more crucial in our day and age that we enhance our website so people will remember them better. But now for the ‘good stuff’ Carl, your blog is good, it has the r

Blog Review: DailyMoolah
2007-10-02 06:15:36
DailyMoolah.com has been steadily rising throughout it’s time in the blogosphere. One question remains, how will it bridge the gap between a good blog and a great blog? There are two options, one, it stays being a ‘good’ blog or he gives his site a whole redesign and ups the anti on the content by making it more focussed and less ad based. DailyMoolah.com is not a bad website/blog but it is not the best one either, the ads are all over the place and it is not a place where I can sit down and read the updated in a relaxed environment, yes, I can subscribe to feeds but sometimes I want to be on the site. To go deeper into the Navigation and Functionality…it is very easy to get lost on this blog, there are quote, a lot of links, unquote. All in all this blog has good points and bad points as all blogs do, my tips for making this site better than it already is. Blog Review: Courtney Tuttle
2007-10-01 07:49:43
Courtney Tuttle makes money using various services, he mentions Kontera Content Link, Adsense, PayPerPost, Hosting reselling etc…Is this blog good or bad? It’s excellent! Absolutely fantastic, this blog has so much useful and valuable information it is amazing. This blog provides people with the ‘know how’ to boost their search engine rankings to the top. Why is it so good? The content is so rich with tips and advice, I give this blog the Small Fish Southern Star Award for October 2007, it is just a really great blog, easy to use, full of information and it’s…just GREAT! The navigation is fine, it is not laced with ads unlike many other blogs out there nowadays. The good thing about this blog which the owner mentions is that it is not a “…This site is not your typical ‘make money online quest for cash’…” - Courtney Tuttle. And it’s true, it is so beyond the typical cash quest blog.

Blog Review: MoneyMakerInfo
2007-10-01 07:10:48
MoneyMakerInfo is not a bad blog but it’s not the best one either. It can be ranked number #1 on Google search but it still does not account for some design flaws in the site, don’t even get me started on navigation. Blog Content The blog provides some very good information which is what a blog should do, a blog should also look good or attempt to, it will increase visitors. Firstly, I believe there are too many links everywhere; I seriously got into a link frenzy and I almost closed the page. I Can say for one that the content is what made me ’stay’ on the page. It is some really good and informative content. Navigation and Functionality This is where this site is going to lose the ‘most’ marks from me as a reviewer, this site really needs a good cleanup, arranging all the links neatly into four of five different pages instead of having a market stall of links on the left and right hand side. Overall I have no grievances with this make money online

Multiple Streams of Income Videos
2007-10-16 07:07:00
AskJoelComm.Com is at the forefront of providing web entrepreneurs with quality web videos which last about ten to five minutes in length each. The site alone probably has 40 to 50 videos created by Joel Comm. These videos are absolutely fantastic and they get the seal of  approval from this website and so many others. Joel Comm has created these videos to help the everyday blogger who is attempting to monetize their sites by using AdSense, Kontera and various affiliate programs. These have been recorded from a conference which Joel held but they are all fantastic, great sound, great powerpoint visuals etc… These videos will not only get you hyped about monetizing your site it will also get you off the ‘lazy couch’ to make you go and do the things he recommends. The funny thing is that so many people are still using AdSense the old fashion way, I could list a huge bunch of websites who still use AdSense without thinking. When I say “….AdSense without th

Tired of Posting, Visitors and Traffic
2007-10-15 05:27:34
If you are tired of posting and you have not posted in about a week or more…what do you have to offer to your visitors? The answer to that is probably something like my ‘Previous posts’ section or ‘Popular posts’ section. That answer is perfectly fine, but wouldn’t you like your visitors to stay for longer? I know my answer. The fact of the matter is that YES you will get tired posting and YES you will feel like quitting sometimes, but you have to somehow find that inner strength to keep on going and going. I am fine with people taking 1 week post breaks as long as you inform your readers that you are going on a two week holiday or something. But…what do you have to offer to them for those two weeks? The answer is PAGES, before you go on holiday, consider creating pages which are filled with valuable content which they can sink their teeth into. This content on my blog is in the Make Money Section Invest Money Section Save Money Section Abo

I found OpTempo as one of the commentators on a recent post. He was able to provide me with some very constructive comments for the post so I decided to contact him and arrange a review exchange. My review is as follows: OpTempo.Com: www.OpTempo.com is an experiment in rapid paced blog, there are some very highly ambitious goals for the website in the about me section which are absolutely fantastic. Why would someone want to write 10 posts per day? There are many answers to this, but one of my main responses would be that if you are writing so many posts per day you are bound to be indexed by Google within two months or less. Post frequency matters if you want to be indexed in Google. How’s the blog? Does it look good? OpTempo is a very good blog, it provides readers with a very broad range of topics to read upon, these links and others are neatly arrange in a column dedicated to the site’s navigation (very good for readers). The blog is very well organised, although it ha

We recently got a FREE review from OpTempo.Com, thanks a lot to the owner of OpTempo - Frank Carr. For your site reviewed free, you can visit his website to get one. This is the review “The About page of the site is quite good and explains who Fabian is and his goals for the site. He says this about the kind of sites he likes: Fabien likes quality blogs and websites where the owners have really taken their time to design the blog and not plastered 20 million ads all over to make it look like a flea market (even they are more organized than some blogs I have seen…) Well, he should love OpTempo since it’s like a flea market by design. Let’s take a look at his site. Site Design/Theme SmallFishBigMoney uses the Modernpaper theme created by Performancing. This is a very sedate but well designed 3 column theme. There is a lack of personal touches that I would like to see, such as a logo or something along those lines. As is his stated preference the advertising is also rather low

Quality Traffic: The Real Way To Get It.
2007-10-14 07:29:10
Yes…we have all heard the sounds of free traffic in the blogosphere, in one blog or the next. I know that the idea of getting free traffic is so cool, fun and exciting but the quality of traffic you are probably getting with social networks is passive traffic, people who may come to your site once and then never come again… So…how do you get, high grade, professional quality traffic? You COUGH UP THE DOSH. Yes, you have to, it is the only way to get good traffic. Cough up the dosh and do the following. Get A Paid Review (Go to an up and coming website…you can even ask other bloggers if you can have one for free) Buy Ads on a very popular website (JohnChow, ProBlogger, Shoemoney etc…) Buy a Link on a very popular website You must give to receive. It is always a pleasure when someone like JohnChow stops by my profile over at MyBlogLog and possibly the website as well. It seems like JohnChow is having to manually check all TTZ Media affiliates before they are approved into the program. This is why I see him on the MyBlogLog readers, thanks for stopping by John Chow, to check if my site is good to go for the TTZ media network. Throwing Away Visitors for Fun: Wrath of Advertising
2007-10-13 18:59:57
Your blog or website is your front door, if people are not happy with it, they will leave as I do in many circumstances when I encounter a bad blog. So, what makes a bad blog? There are many answers to this, but I will cover the main topics which are of the highest importance. This includes discussions concerning chicklets, advertising, visual aesthetics of blogs and organization of content. Advertising The advertising on many blog sites could be considered as shocking and awful. Many bloggers still believe that they can make money with their site by slapping twenty banners down the side of their blog, but this is simply no longer the case. No one wants to come to a site where the content is worth ¼ or less of the front page…you are saying bye to your very valuable visitors before they have even gone into the living room of your house. Not only the new ones… I must point out that not only newbies are at fault, some blogs which have a considerable amount of readers are not allowi

Joel Comm: How many sites does he own?
2007-10-13 07:19:41
So…the sites he has are listed at the bottom of the post, but how do he make money? Joel Comm is a ‘the’ internet expert. He has made so much money from all the above programs, but the question is…how? The answer is PASSIVE INCOME, this is one of Joel’s best ways and most used ways to make money online, he uses all the above websites but only about two or three of them are ever updated. The other websites are for the promotion of his products, he sells his ebooks and makes it easy for himself by not being bothered to monetize a blog or anything…but he does use a lot of AdSense on his personal blog and a few other sites. So…it is your decision. Passive income or active income? It is up to you, personally I would say that passive income outweighs the benefits of active income. You can get money whenever someone buys your product, ensuring it is properly marketed, people will keep on buying until…who knows when? But if you do like runnin

BLOGRUSH: Getting Traffic?
2007-10-12 21:16:57
BlogRush promised us ‘A Flood of Targeted Readers’ to our blogs. Unfortunately as with everything that promises lots of traffic it did not deliver for many. Why? The BlogRush widget is a great idea and in theory it should be able to provide different blogs with traffic each day, considering the amount of people who have signed up to it. I have not received too many people via BlogRush but I still believe it is worthwhile. If only there was a better system of managing and equalising the amount of traffic which goes to each blog, but that is hard to do when some people post a lot (3 to 5 times a day) and some others post once a month (BTW: your blog is dead). I believe that BlogRush should tighten it’s strings and accept only frequent blogs and quality blog, blogs which have excessive banner ads should not be accepted…quality control? So what do you think? Tell us about it by commenting right here on our website, we use DoFollow so your Technorati will get some e

Throwing Away Visitors for Fun!

So, you got excited about the using the RSS chicklet on your website from feedburner. You got so excited that you decided to display that you have 1 to 20 readers…REMOVE IT NOW! YOU ARE THROWING AWAY VISITORS. It is unfortunate that so many new bloggers do this in our day and age. By displaying that you have only a small amount of readers you are telling your visitor to leave your site, it is common sense. Let’s say I come to your webpage tomorrow, oh yes, I click on a link that leads me to your site; before I have even scrolled down I see a little thing that says 5 readers…’Guess what I do next…?’ Did you guess? I hope you did. Well…my browser it still up, but I am checking out ProBlogger, not that small site that had only 5 readers, I don’t trust that site for a minute, do you? This is why people should not be displaying RSS readership until you get at least 100 subscribers. If you display at the wrong time you are throwing visitors

Blog Traffic: The Missing Manual
2007-10-19 23:47:59
We live in a world where all bloggers are absolutely obsessed with traffic…after all who wouldn’t be. More traffic is more money in the blogging industry, with all the pay per click, pay per lead, affiliate programs etc… available out there traffic is the only way for bloggers to get people clicking their ads to…make money online. What if I told you…you will not succeed in blogging or making money online. You would probably get angry and stop reading this post. Luckily I have not told you this, but I will tell you that without traffic you will not make 1 cent online. But…what if I also told you that you will only have a solid amount of traffic in two years time… I am sure you want to know why I am telling you the above, and here is my answer: the successful blogs out there have been around since 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 or before that. Think about how many posts they have been able to create in that space of time, compared to any other ne

You have all heard that you need to keep on posting, posting and posting more to get the traffic you need. Well, I am sorry to burst your bubble; this method will surely fail. If you want to continue posting only four times a week without anything else…I am sorry to say but your blog is doomed! What you need to do to be proactive in blogging: Build Content Yes, you have to be building content, at least one post a day for any blogger (new or expert), if you miss a post for one day, make the next post really worth the wait. Building content is a quintessential part to the success of your blog, your content may have some high ping keywords which Google search will be very attracted to and may include in their search results. Building content is the basis of any successful blog, but… Don’t Stop There! After you have started building you content you have to make sure everything else is falling into place…by this I mean: make sure you have branded your website we

AdBrite Vs. AdSense| Make Money Online with Pay Per Click
2007-10-23 07:40:34
The most valuable and most credible Pay Per Click systems online are of course Google AdSense and AdBrite. The other PPC systems are good but they do not have a ‘proven track record’. Widgetbucks only recently opened its doors and I am yet to analyse it’s success, I might wait another two months or so. As for Google AdSense and AdBrite…what makes them so good? The key to any good Pay Per Click system is the customization aspect of their service. AdSense and AdBrite allow you to customize their ads to a very high level, changing background colours, font colors etc…And some like AdBrite allow you to customize the ad a lot more than AdSense. If you are currently using AdSense I would suggest you check out AdBrite, it is actually very reputable, it is easy to get your ads up and going and in the long run might even get you a better CTR than AdSense because you there is no indication to where the ads come from, unlike AdSense where there is a big “Ads b

Traffic Building Part 1: 4 Steps to Traffic Building
2007-10-29 04:02:57
Traffic Building is one of the single-most difficult things to do as a blogger. I am sure that all bloggers with new blogs will agree with me that is it extremely difficult. How do you get traffic to your blog? I have been trying out several ways recently and they all have their ups and downs, one thing is for sure building traffic cheap is not easy. I will only be buying ad spots on other blogs after my third or fourth month of blogging…even then might be too early…so what do you do while you are waiting? You keep on trying to find better ways of building traffic. Today I will reveal my best tips for building traffic to your website - the free way (and the most difficult way). I have read mounds upon mounds of ebooks, earticles and other online documents relating to free traffic…although some claim that it is so easy, I can say that it is not…they have probably been lucky. 1. Reviewback is a service associated with AdGrid work. The reviewback service is a blog review exchange service…what a great idea! Yes, it may be a great idea but the interface definitely needs some work. I have two problems with this service so far and they are as follows: quality control, customization and searchability. QUALITY CONTROL So…I thought that finding a couple of blogs who want to review exchange with me would be good. Was I wrong or was I wrong? The service is filled with so many blogs which have limited content and bad web design, not to mention extremely short posts. Of course not all the blogs are like this but a heck of a lot of them are. They need to have a system whereby the blogs are checked out and allowed into the program…let’s face it, no one is going to want to exchange with blogs which are not of a high standard…at least I would not want to. CUSTOMIZATION: The service is very limited in providing the user with a sense of custo

Google PageRank Going Up! Thanks Google!

For SmallFishBigMoney things have been on a very steady rise recently. At Small Fish we are dedicated to posting good quality content in a friendly environment. We have done just that, we have also been actively publicising our blog on trusted systems such as MyBlogLog (thanks so much MyBlogLog Readers), BlogCatalog (Thank you too!) and BUMPZee (thanks a bunch!). Our Google Page Rank is now at 2/10…my persistence, effort and dedication that I have put into creating this website and making it as good as it can be from day 1 is beginning to pay off. I have successfully attained a Google PageRank of 2 after 27 days of blogging. As you may remember this blog found it’s beginnings in early October 2007. So…why is my PR going up and everyone else’s going down? There are many reasons to this but one main reason is that I do not participate in text link selling I only do things like blog review exchanges etc…which is good content for my readers and good content

BlogRush Quality Traffic, New & Improved
2007-10-26 21:24:37
The deletion of 10,000+ blogs from BlogRush to maintain quality is absolutely fantastic. The removal of non English blogs has some good and bad points but I am not here to debate that. So, what do all these new BlogRush improvements mean? Does it mean less traffic or more quality traffic? Many bloggers out there lost out on some friends in their networks because their blogs were removed from the program (Evil MoneyMaker John Chow). The changes will probably mean more quality targeted traffic to your blog, they kept our site in the program, this is most probably a testament to the success of Small Fish Big Money. I call on a post which I made on October 13th BlogRush - Getting Traffic? this post discussed that BlogRush needed some sort of quality control and guess what? It happened. The deletion of 10,000 blogs is evidence of exactly that. BlogRush will soon unveil more phase 2 plans including the new interface (dashboard) and smaller widget. These new changes will no doubt bring a gre
