IQ Baby Chubby Soft Activity Blocks
2007-10-05 08:51:00
These blocks are so fun! The set comes with 19 soft cloth/foam blocks with different pictures and designs and features such as squeak, rattle, crinkle, mirror etc. We stack them all up for Baby and he knocks 'em down! The blocks are soft so baby doesn't hurt or scare himself. They were a gift from Grandma and are great for Tummy Time. Just make sure you check out all blocks before giving them to your baby to remove all packaging such as protective coating on the mirror. By IQ Baby . . . it must make baby smart! Pampers Baby Dry Diapers
2007-10-04 15:28:00
We have found that Pampers Baby Dry diapers work best! I prefer the Baby Dry to the other Pampers types, such as Cruisers. I tried some of the other major brands and generic store diapers and had some serious diaper disasters, the worst of which were in public places. Like the time when baby's Huggies diaper exploded in the waiting area of a car dealership where my car was being serviced . . . all over a leather couch and my outfit . . . of course I had a change of clothing for baby but not for me! Now we play it (and PAY it) safe with the Pampers. My baby has had only one diaper rash so far, and that was when we used 1 generic wipe! Spending the extra cash on the good diapers has been worth it!RATING: *****

Boppy
2007-10-03 22:20:00
The Boppy is versatile. When I got pregnant I cannot tell you how many Moms said "You HAVE to get a Boppy!" So, like every other parent-to-be we put a Boppy on our registry. We even brought it to the hospital with us when I went into labor. The first time I used the Boppy I was very disappointed. Since I had a c-section, the Boppy would not fit. My tummy took a while to go down. Once this happened we became firm believers in the Boppy. In fact, we used it so much that we would take it everywhere with us. I became "Boppy Dependant." I could not breastfeed without it, which actually ended up being a bad thing. Even when not breastfeeding, we used the Boppy. Our Baby loved to sleep on his side and despite our fear of SIDS, our doctor said it was OK because he would put himself in this position. During those first couple of weeks, while I would be watching TV, I would take a small pillow and put it in the the 'U' part of the Boppy to create a somewhat flat surface. I woul

Aquarium Take Along Swing
2007-10-03 22:16:00
This swing does the job and does it in less space than the standard baby swing. It folds up nicely and as the name says, you can "Take Along" with you anywhere. For a short while my son would only sleep at his babysitters house in this swing. The batteries last a long time. My only complaint is that it is super low to the ground and if you had a c-section, it's hard to get down that low in the first couple of weeks. I also noticed that this is not very good for an infant. I had to prop up pillows and blankets so Baby would not slouch down into the chair. The Fisher Price Aquarium Take Along swing is designed for an older infant.RATING: ***COMMENTS: Easy to transport and plays acceptable music. The motor makes a lot of noise.

Saftey 1st Tubside Bath Seat
2007-10-03 19:43:00
Using this bath seat made me uneasy. I felt like baby was going to slide down and hurt his private parts! Now looking it up on the web I see many other parents had concerns with mold. Another problem is this seat is SO big! When I took it out of the tub there was nowhere to put it besides the garage.I returned this seat to the store and we have been getting into the tub with baby for his nightly bath. Its more fun that way!RATING:*

Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Bouncer
2007-10-02 20:48:00
I had no idea what I was doing when choosing items for our baby registry. I did know that I needed a bouncer and went with the Fisher Price Papasan Bouncer based purely on looks. This ended up being a LOUSY choice. Baby did not like this and I could not understand why. So many other Moms recommend that I get a bouncer, so why did my baby not like this one? Well, the Papasan Bouncer is BORING. We went over to a friends house and they had the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Bouncer. I put my son in it just to see his reaction and he LOVED it! He actually started crying when I took him out of it! On our way home from our friend's house we stopped at the store and purchased the Ocean Wonders Aquarium Bouncer!RATING: *****COMMENTS: Has a bunch of different settings and actually stays on for longer than 5 minutes (Papasan Bouncer has a very short "on" time). The sounds are: nursery rhymes and ocean sounds. Baby looks at bubbles and has toys he can kick. Has good Bounce a

EvenFlo Snugli Comfort Vent Carrier
2007-10-02 20:43:00
The EvenFlo Snugli Comfort Vent Carrier is a less expensive alternative to the Baby Bjorn. I chose this item over the Bjorn simply because of price. I don't have any complaints about this product. The straps were comfortable and Baby fit great all the way until around 6 months. Since my child is on the heavier side (9oth percentile for weight), it started to hurt my back around 6 months. In the beginning, I would wear the baby facing forward and when he could support his own head I would have him face outwards. This should be on every baby registry!RATING: *****COMMENTS: Great price! Comfy straps. Even has a pocket on the front for you put stuff in.

JJ Cole Original Bundleme Graphite
2007-10-02 20:39:00
This product is a MUST have for anyone who lives in a cold climate. Essentially it is a sleeping bag that fits perfectly into an infant car seat. The back of the bunting bag has holes so that the straps can go through and secure baby. One thing we did notice is that Baby would sometimes get hot. You have to make sure that you don't have too many layers on Baby and then put him in this fleece and wool bunting bag. If you warm your car up, you would want to consider unzipping the bunting bag once you are in the car. RATING: ****COMMENTS: The bag is VERY warm and when moving from a cold to warm climate make sure that Baby is not too hot. Machine washable!

Jumbo Go Go Go! Car - K's Kids
2007-10-02 20:18:00
My parents purchased the Jumbo Go Go Go! Car at Costco. Baby wasn't really "ready" for this until he was 5 months old when he could sit up on his own completely. Even then he would loose interest quickly. I think that this is a product that is more appropriate for for an older baby, possibly even a toddler. We have this put up right now (Baby is 11 months) and will bring it out for a rainy day. It's sort of expensive ($80) for what you get. It plays music, the horn beeps and when you stick the key in the "ignition" it makes the same sounds a car makes when it turns on. RATING: ***COMMENTS: Baby needs to be at least a year to enjoy. Expensive.

Evenflo Expressions Plus High Chair
2007-10-02 20:10:00
Someone gave us this high chair and so far we don't have any complaints about it! The Evenflo Expressions Plus High Chair is your all around, user friendly high chair. The height adjusts, which is cool and the the back of the chair reclines. I think these features are pretty standard for any plastic high chair these days. We actually started using this before Baby could sit up on his own fully. I would put a bunch of toys on the tray and he would play for at least 30 minutes. Thats plenty of time to get the dishes done! Even though it was a hand me down, I am pleased with the color choice. Black and white sort of blends in to a kitchen. RATING: ****COMMENTS: The seat cover is plastic and food wipes off very nicely. Plus, you can remove the seat cover and wash it. The height adjusts and the seat reclines.

Gerber Graduates Sweet Potato Puffs
2007-10-02 15:14:00
We just recently began giving baby the Gerber Graduates Finger Foods as he is now 6 months old. We started with the Potato Puffs because sweet potato has been one of his favorite foods so far. I thought that baby would start feeding himself these immediately, as everything else seems to end up in his mouth! Ironically this is the one thing he hasn't figured out to eat! However I put them in his mouth for him, and he enjoys chewing them and seems proud of himself. I am comfortable with the potato puffs because they dissolve quickly (I tried them myself! Tasty!)My girlfriend gives the finger foods to her 11 month old all the time and I know her baby loves them. We are going to keep trying and I am sure my baby will be feeding himself these in no time!RATING:*****

Combi Cosmo DX Stroller
2007-10-02 13:37:00
When I was pregnant, my husband and I made a baby registry. We kicked some tires on strollers and picked one out based upon looks alone. We thought, "A stroller is a stroller." Boy were we wrong. The stroller from my registry was bulky, heavy, and not user friendly. I was so frustrated with my other stroller I almost left it in a parking lot when I couldn't get it closed in the rain! I would take baby for a walk around the block and end up carrying him AND pushing the stroller because he was unhappy. Then I found the Combi. I ordered online and the day it came I immediately assembled it (5 minutes tops). Baby watched in delight as his new ride was put together. We went for a walk and I was amazed as he fell asleep and I kept walking and walking. It was like magic! This stroller is so easy to open and close, and so light! I can lift it with one hand! It also has great turning radius. At the peak of baby's colic, we would push him around our tiny house in the Combi. The color (lawn) is

Playtex Binky Pacifiers
2007-10-02 13:04:00
We tried just about every pacifier at the store and the ones given to us by my ob/gyn and the hospital. The best we have found is the Playtex Binky. Baby holds onto this paci the best and seems to like it the most. I own probably 2 dozen of them, although at the moment I only know where 2 are! We keep them everywhere: diaper bags, purses, pockets, the car, every room in the house . . .you get the idea. Our pediatrician endorses the use of binkys, apparently they help to prevent SIDS. Also he said it is always easier to take a binky away then to try and stop a child from sucking his thumb. My baby became a binky-baby because of the colic and at 6 month he is still using one!RATING: *****

Mr. Richard
2007-10-02 12:21:00
A friend of mine recommended Mr. Richard over the summer, when he happened to be doing a tour of local libraries in my area. I took baby (approximately 4 months old at the time) to a free Mr. Richard performance and he loved it! There were kids of all ages, parents, grandparents and everyone was having a great time! His songs are silly and original, he is very interactive with the audience and the music is parent-friendly as well. If you live in the Central Florida area, check out Mr. Richard at his many performances at libraries and bookstores. Otherwise check out the music on his myspace page or buy a CD. Often when I am working in my home office I click on Mr. Richard's myspace and play the music for baby, because it keeps him content longer and I can get more work done!RATING: *****

Slingling
2007-10-01 17:02:00
The Slingling is an all around, versatile way to carry baby. When your baby is newborn, you can cradle the baby close facing in. As the baby gets older and bigger, you can use it to assist in carrying the baby on your hip, that way you can have one hand free and relieve some of the weight. This sling is great because it folds up so small and you can throw it in the diaper bag or car, forget about it until you really need it! Great for quick trips into a store or to walk around the yard watering plants. This was also great for colic because baby wearing is soothing for a colic baby.RATING: *****

Snuggli Cross Country Backpack Child Carrier
2007-09-27 23:12:00
My parents got this item for us off of craigslist.org! What a great way to get baby outside and see the sites of where you live. We would take him hiking with us all of the time. Of course, you need to make sure that Baby can sit up for a long period of time and has full control of his neck. We got the Snuggli Cross Country Backpack when Baby was 6 months old. His 1st hike was a quick one and he only started to get irritated on our way back down the butte. The pack is really cool b/c it has all of these compartments to put all of the necessary items one might need on a hike with a baby. It also has a sun shade, which doesn't take the place of a hat and sunscreen, but helps block the sun. When you are tired and want to put baby down, it has a stand that pulls out and allows you to set the backpack down without taking baby out.RATING: ***COMMENTS: The backpack is really made for a medium sized person. My husband is 6'4, 190lbs and had the settings on the loosest they would

Rainforest Waterfall Peek-A-Boo Soother
2007-09-27 22:56:00
Our baby loves the Rainforest Waterfall Peek-A-Boo Soother! We turn this on for him everytime he goes down for a nap or bedtime. The music is far from obnoxious and is actually quite soothing. The batteries last about a month (takes 4 C batteries). You can adjust the volume and pick what combos you want to use. We keep ours on the setting where it lights up but critters do not move. I found you get a longer battery life on this setting. This was a great purchase! You can even try it out online if you are curious what it sounds like. Click Here. Baby even knows how to turn it on all by himself now. Sometimes when I go in to get him in the morning he is laying there with the music playing. He is so smart!RATING: ****COMMENTS: Eats batteries for lunch. Take out a stock in Energizer before you buy this product!

The First Years Sure Comfort Deluxe Newborn to Toddler Tub with Sling
2007-09-27 22:54:00
This is a great standard baby bathtub. It is moderately priced ($20) and comes with a sling for your newborn to lay in. My son grew out of the sling in about a month and then refused to enjoy the bath. I think it was just my son because I know other Moms who love this bath tub. It has grooves on the bottom to where you can set this on your kitchen sink. However it only works if you have the double sink. One time when I was giving baby a bath on the counter he was kicking and screaming (hated the bath at first) and kicked so hard that it slid off of the counter. Yikes! Make sure you have a wide counter if you have an angry baby who hates bath time.RATING: ****COMMENTS: Make sure you have a wide surface to set this on. It would be better if it came with rubber feet, making it less likely to slide around on the surface.

Sunwise UV Swimwear
2007-09-27 19:46:00
We spend a lot of time at the beach and the pool! I was paranoid about the sun because the doctor (and all the parenting books) said no sunscreen until 6 months old! I searched all the local kids stores and surf shops looking for UV protection swimwear for my baby. The best I could find were SPF swim shorts at Target and a Surfing Rash Guard at a surf shop. Then when on vacation I went into a CVS store and found the Sunwise Products. This little suit is great because it is so easy to get on and baby seems comfortable in it. When we go to a public pool baby wears a swim diaper under the suit, but at the beach or at his grandparents' pool, he goes commando. He looks so cute in it too! Like a little scuba diver!RATING: *****

Mirror Mirror by IQ Baby
2007-09-27 19:40:00
This Crib Toy is reversible with a mirror on one side and a cat & dog florescent scene on the other. There are three dangling toys that are animal shaped and each makes a different noise (crackle, rattle and bell). Sometimes when my baby wakes up in a good mood in his crib, I will hear him playing with the toys before he makes a peep! Baby's grandparents picked this toy up for him on clearance and we really love it. Besides, anything called "IQ" has got to be good! (Just kidding)RATING: *****

Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder
2007-09-27 18:37:00
Riddle me this: How do you entertain 10 month old twins at the same time? Answer: Give them fresh strawberries in a Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder! Pictured below are two very sweet babies snacking away on some fresh strawberries. What a healthy snack! These babies belong to dear friends of mine and told me that this was a great way to "distract" them while they eat dinner. The reason why these feeders are so cool, is because Baby can suck all of the juice out of the fruit/veggies, without the possibility of choking. RATING: *****COMMENTS: This can be quite messy and especially with colored fruit. Make sure to use this product in the kitchen or rather on a floor that won't pick up stains.

Baby Bjorn
2007-09-26 08:29:00
The Baby Bjorn was great for us when baby was under 20 lbs! I used it for walks, for grocery shopping and for doing some housework. My baby's father and even his grandfather wore the Baby Bjorn. When baby was newborn, I would wear him facing in, so he could snuggle against my chest. As he got older, more alert and interested and more able to hold his head, I wore him facing out. This was a great way to grocery shop because my baby couldn't stand to be in the car seat. I think that "baby wearing" helped us to combat the colic. Now that baby is getting bigger (6 months, over 20 lbs) he is just too heavy for me to wear him in the Baby Bjorn. This item is expensive! Luckily my cousin loaned me hers. I have put it in the washer and dryer several times and it has worn well. I would highly recommend this item and it is definitley something you could buy at a consignment shop.RATING: *****

Rainforest Open-top Cradle Swing
2007-09-23 09:18:00
This swing is SO worth the $120.00. We actually bought the swing with store credits from duplicate items purchased off our baby registry at Target. I picked out this swing specifically because it has the option of being powered by batteries or a wall outlet. At the time, it was the only plug-in swing I could find on the market. One great thing about the swing is how it can quickly change from side-to-side or front-to-back, even when the baby is in the swing. The music is actually not annoying! My baby had colic and for about 2 months, the only time he slept was swaddled in his swing or his bouncy chair. Thankfully the colic passed and now he sleeps in his crib, but often he naps in the swing (and is doing just that as I type!). The left photo is from baby's first day home, and the right photo is baby at about 4 months old, one of the last times he was swaddled.RATING: *****

Curious George Soundtrack
2007-09-22 12:18:00
We have been Jack Johnson fans for sometime now, ever since Brushfire Fairytales. I actually purchased this CD in 2006, before we even decided to get pregnant! We still have actually never seen the film, but one day we will watch it with baby! This is a great CD for both kids and parents. The music is great and the messages in the lyrics are positive, such as "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" and "Its always more fun to share with everyone." I have found that if I play some music for my baby, he will entertain himself a lot longer in his play area. I actually recommend all of Jack Johnson's music and his surf films as well.RATING: *****

Baby Einstein Discover & Play Activity Gym
2007-09-21 23:15:00
This was a great gift. We used this until Baby was old enough to crawl. Around 2 months, he started to become interested and enjoyed the star light apparatus that is on the top. It plays this song that sounds like Tetris and I even caught my husband whistling it once while doing the dishes. When he became more mobile, he would tug on the stuffed animals until they came off. This is even great for tummy time. The activity gym comes with this special pillow that is used to prop baby up while practicing being on his tummy. My son is 2.5 months in these pictures.RATING: *****COMMENTS: I think this really helped out with tummy time. Baby really seemed to dig this product. I would buy this as a gift for someone.

Fisher-Price Winnie the Pooh Kick & Play Bouncer
2007-10-15 16:14:00
After checking out HappyBabyHappyMommy.com, a friend of mine wrote in about a baby gear "must have"! Her babies are the beautiful and handsome babies pictured here."The Fisher Price Winnie the Pooh Kick and Play Bouncer. We had one bouncer, but they liked it so much when they were little that I decided to buy a second so they wouldn't have to share. I just bought this one accidentally and it's really one of the best bouncers out there. It's really stable and sits up a bit higher than our other bouncer. There is a "calming vibrations" setting that vibrates the bouncer. Being a colicky baby, Jack actually slept in this bouncer for the first 8 or 9 weeks of his life. We would turn on the vibrator, take off the toy bar and he would sleep after he calmed down from his nightly crying gigs. I used to joke that we spent $600 on a crib and he prefers his $30.00 Winnie the pooh bouncer! The toy bar has lights that flash and you can set it. There is continuous play where the lights flash and

Take and Toss Spill Proff Cups
2007-10-12 10:43:00
These cups are anything but spill proof. Even though they are cheap (4 for $3.95), they leak and the lid is really easy to get off. My son has gotten the lid off numerous times. I think these cups are meant for older babies. Stick with the kind where the lid screws on and you will be OK. The Gerber Graduates Sip and Smile cup is awesome!RATING: **COMMENTS: Not spill proof and lid comes off easily.

Mommy Tip - Freezing Breastmilk
2007-10-11 14:50:00
There are a couple of ways to store breast milk. One of those is to use the breast milk storage bags you can find in the grocery store on the baby isle and another is to use ice cube trays. 1st you have to line the ice cube tray with cellophane. You HAVE to do this, otherwise the breast milk will stick to the tray. I did not use cellophane the 1st time around and wasted 12 ounces of milk. YIKES! Lay the cellophane on top and push into the holes. Don't worry about it laying perfectly in the holes. When you pour the milk in, the cellophane shapes to the ice cube tray. After the milk has frozen, take the frozen cubes and put in a freezer ziplock bag and store until needed. Each cube is approximately 1 ounce. This method allows you to have more control over the amount you defrost. You can store them 1 ounce at a time in a breast milk storage bag, but that can get expensive after a while. Try it out and let me know what you think!

Graco Vienna Travel System
2007-10-11 14:32:00
Picking out a stroller/car seat (aka travel system) is a little overwhelming for a new parent-to-be. When my husband and I went test-stroller driving at the local Babies R Us, we had no idea what we were looking for. My Mom gave me a very important piece of advice: make sure you can open and close the stroller with one hand. As far as the car seat goes, well all baby car seats pretty much look and weigh the same. We ended up going with the Graco Vienna Travel System . They still make this stroller, however the color we have has been discontinued. When we got the travel system, I wanted to put it together right away. Unfortunately, I could not do this on my own. I remember that the wheels were really hard to get on and I had to ask my husband to help (I was determined to put it together all by myself). We ended up really liking the car seat and sort of liking the stroller. The car seat fit great in our car and was super snug and safe. If you go with this product and have two

Mommy Tip - Ankle Socks
2007-10-09 13:17:00
My son was a good size baby when he was born (8lbs,7oz) and thus, had chubby ankles. Very cute, chubby ankles I might add. We received a TON of baby socks as presents. Baby socks are super cute and almost irresistible when purchasing a gift for a new baby. Here's the problem, they are super tiny too. If your baby fits into these socks, well then that is great, but not if your baby has irresistibly cute, chubby ankles. When I put a pair of socks on my brand new baby, I noticed they were really tight. So tight that they cut into is skin and left a mark. As I was searching the store for newer, bigger socks, I realized I had a problem. The bigger socks are too big and would fall off. I then discovered ankle socks for babies! They are for sure not as cute as the decorative socks, but hey, they are comfy for your baby and that is what's most important!
