CECWorship Baby!-Confessional 10/28/07 2007-10-28 21:54:28 So it’s Sunday morning and I am stoked about the service..I mean I can’t wait because I think the songs are dead on with what God wants.
Not only that but Im doing I will lift my eyes for offering. What a killer song.
I get woken from my 6 year old Tristan…”Get up daddy”…ok fine…I come out and my wife is sitting on the couch. She says “Joel, I didn’t sleep at all call the hospital and see if we need to go in because I’m getting more frequent contractions.”
Oh my…your kidding ok…AHHHHHH my dad is gonna have to play pastor and worship leader today Cus we are going to the hospital.
8:30 Am - noon.- no change and my wife is gonna kill the doctor because of it.

“Hi, it’s Sandi filling in for Stef– Wow! What a day this has been. Actually, what a journey these past three months have been. We have been awaiting this day for some time now. We waited with both fear and excitement. We had a fear of the unknown because we didn’t know for sure what they would be doing once they opened Stef up, and we had excitement because of the possibilities of this surgery. We definitely saw what God can do. I do have to thank our amazing support system also. We have so many amazing friends and family who shared of their time with us over the last few days. Some dear girl friends of mine had me up for lunch yesterday and a time of prayer. Last night, some friends of Stef’s came to our house to pray with Stef. You might be thinking did Joel’s wife finally have the baby that is due in 3 days…nope..
What did happen is my mother in law flew in from Louisiana and we have just been wicked busy preparing for this new addition to our family.
What that said…This should make up for the delay of those 2 posts.
I have been on a reading whirlwind as of late. I just can’t get enough of the books and letting God pour into me.

It has been one eventful weekend to say the least…after my little hiatus from bloggin (and letting billy chia get ahead of me in the world of top blogs for the week) I am officially back with this weeks What the Wednesday.
1. If you don’t know why I was gone for a little…it’s because we had our third son on Sunday. His name is Gavin Mitchell…and we are stoked. My wife, kelly came home today and things are almost back to normal..well with an extra mouth to feed.
2. A few posts back I did a quick review of the new book “jim and casper go to church” . I got an interesting comment from a woman named Helen which directed me to the blog for the book and the concept behind it. www.churchrater.com . On the front page it said “joel is unimpressed with the book” and i said to myself…”What the!?” sure enough it was a blurb from my review and a comment from Helen (one of the organizers of the site) . she had some back and
Paternaty Leave = Catchup 2007-11-06 12:30:32 It is amazing how much you end up having to do when you didn’t do it for a week. My design jobs stacked up…my church work stacked up…my stacks stacked up.
So the blog gets some delays in its normal broadcasting which I hate doing.
so lets talk about some books ive read recently.
They Like Jesus But Not The Church- Dan Kimball - 3 out of 5 stars
Great book and challenging. It is another book in the vein of following Jesus and his actions and not being like judgmental problematic Christians. Changing how the outsiders see us. Only issue with the book I had was that it was exactly like UnChristian just without all the Barna stats. My recommendation is to pick one of the two and read it.
Blue Like Jazz - Donald Miller - 2 out of 5 stars
Ok I know I’m gonna be crucified for this one, but I just wasn’t really into it. Good book, but for me it’s really a book for people who are searching, confused or have walked away from the Christian faith. It was almos Read more:Leave

was a man after God’s heart. Ever thought about what that really means?
I think it is referring to the second step in the GodBox. The first was Standing firm on the promises God has given us for who we are.
The second is Standing firm on the promises of who He is.
David knew His God was bigger than he was. A lot of times we are very good at pretending how big he is but never really putting our faith in that. We are made in Christs image. Like I said in the part one, we love to make him into our image, but he is far bigger. For ever promise He has given to us about us He is even greater.
The potter shapes and molds us and we really learn how beautiful we are. We can’t know how great he is without looking up at the face of Jesus and seeking his heart.
