Honesty? 2007-10-12 07:51:00 I had to go to the Dermatologist today. Let me just say that I HATE going to the dermatologist, and the only thing worse than going to the dermatologist is going to the dermatologist and having to entertain three girls at the same time.Anyway, I'm wearing one of those very flattering way too short paper shirts (Why in the world do they make them so short?....might as well just give me a couple of paper towels.) and the ever modest paper sheet over my lap.Mara looks up at me and says...."Momma, you look VERY pretty!"Guess she hasn't seen me in much but t-shirts and yoga pants lately! It's a girl band! 2007-10-10 22:56:00 "Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so....."Can't you just hear the joyful sound!
Works for me Wednesday 2007-10-10 07:24:00 Little girls HAVE to wear hair bows! So what do you do when their hair is too thin or practically non-exsistant?You cut a strip of rug gripper and hot glue it to the top inside part of the alligator clip. Guaranteed to hold any amount of hair.I put it on all of our hair bows. Instead of 'fixing' their bows a hundred times a day, I only have to do it three or four times!Rug gripper on hair bows works for me!There....that picture's better! Read more:Works

Cars vs. Nascar 2007-10-09 11:28:00 Let me start out by saying that we are big fans of the Cars movie at the Three-Girl Circus house. When Mara woke up from her nap on Sunday, she watched the last few minutes of the Nascar race with Phillip. As Jeff Gordon climbed out of his car Mara had a really surprised look on her face. She looked at Phillip and said, "I didn't know there were boys in the cars!"Lightning McQueen will never be the same!
It's all about me. 2007-10-08 18:30:00 ...or rather is all about my attitude. You know the saying, "If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy"?Well, God has really been convicting me of my attitude the last couple of days. I've just been in a funk. You know those funks that don't really have a reason but are funks nonetheless? That's been me.Now, there's nothing wrong with being in a funk every now and then, but the problem is that I've put Phillip and the girls in a funk as well. I really believe that old saying is true....I've not been happy and you better believe everyone else hasn't either. Whew, our house has been lots of fun lately! We are all responsible for our own attitudes, but if you're a mom you're responsible for more than just your own attitude. You're responsible for the attitude of your entire household! Ok, no pressure!Lord, forgive me for my bad attitude and funk. Please help me check my attitude with You every morning. I want a joyful heart and household as well. I want my attitude to r
This one's for you, Honey! 2007-10-20 22:28:00 My husband will get a kick out of these Lego ads. I think they're brilliant!
I. Am. Appalled. 2007-10-19 14:27:00 Birth control? For middle-schoolers? No, I mean for children? Seriously...I couldn't believe it either. Read about it here.So maybe they won't be getting pregnant, but will the government be paying for heath care from the diseases or the therapy from the emotional scars?I tell Mara all of the time, "Who's the mommy?", when she's trying to 'rule' her little sisters. Someone needs to tell the state of Maine, "Who's the mommy?" I'm praying that the parents in Maine take a stand and take back the God-given authority in their children's lives and in their homes. Repetition Tolerance Course 2007-10-19 08:12:00 I will be hosting a repetition tolerance course in my home. This is what I heard for twenty minutes this morning.... I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy, Down in my heart. Where? Down in my heart. Where? Down in my heart. I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy, Down in my heart. Where? Down in my heart. Where? Down in my heart. I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy, Down in my heart, Where? .....etc.....etc.....etc....I kid you not. Over and over and over and over again for twenty minutes. I tried suggesting other songs, or turning up the TV , or putting snacks in their mouths. Nothing stopped the repetition. My nerves will never be the same again. Read more:Tolerance

Note to Carrie: Where are your keys? 2007-10-17 12:33:00 I haven't posted this story yet because it was still too raw to 'put out there'. Alas, enough time has passed for me to fully realize the humor in the circumstance.Did I just say "alas"? I'm not sure what came over me. I feel better now.Anyway, the story starts Tuesday morning after dropping Mara off at preschool. The setting is the parking lot of Mara's preschool. And the characters are one dorky mom and two little girls. Ok, here goes the story....I was standing in the parking lot talking to a friend. I had strapped Becca in her carseat, and Emily was sitting in my seat 'driving'. I finished my conversation and got Emily into her seat. Now I have to tell you about the stupidest feature on my van. When you push the button to lock the doors but the doors are open, nothing happens. But the doors lock a few seconds after the doors are shut. I need to write to Chevy about exactly how stupid that feature (if you can call it a feature) is. So on with the story... I got Em Read more:Carrie
Works for me Wednesday 2007-10-16 21:51:00 Mara will be four in just a couple of months. She's been potty-trained for over a year and a half, but for the life of me I have not been able to get her potty-trained at night.I've tried several different things.....nothing to drink after 7pm....6pm.....5pm....nothing to drink all day (just kidding), cold turkey (I got tired of washing sheets every day), bribery, and probably a half of dozen other things. Nothing was working. So last week, I ran out of diapers for the big girls but had some pull-ups in the closet that a friend gave me when her little girl grew out of them. They had Disney princesses on them and little flowers that disappeared if she pottied on them. She's never worn pull-ups before so the whole concept was new to her.Well.....six days later, we have yet to have an accident in our princess pull-ups. Every morning when she wakes up, she runs down to show me that the flowers are still on her pull-ups.So I still can't believe that it works, but Mara wearing pull-ups Read more:Works

Throwback Thursday #1 2007-10-25 10:07:00 I've not participated in ThrowbackThursday
before because I keep meaning to take some pictures of some great old pictures at Mom and Dad's house but keep forgetting. So anyway, I saw this post at Deb's blog and decided to go searching for Halloween pics of my girls. Then I had a good cry because I'm hormonal and they are growing up SO fast! Here's Mara at 10 months old , her first Halloween.... oh I miss that serious little chunky face! Here's my M&Ms from 2 years ago. Mara's almost two and Emily is 6 months old. I'll never forget that Halloween. They were both just getting over the croup. I can tell in that picture that Emily doesn't feel good at all.And here's my bumble bees from last year. Mara's almost three. Emily's 18 months, and Becca is 5 weeks. I think it only took us about two hours just to get around our little block while trick-or-treating.I'm getting so excited for next week now!
See that little picture? 2007-10-25 08:20:00 The picture that's before the url in your browser... it's called a favicon. Wha cha think? Thanks, honey. You're my hero! Read more:little
Great TV Moments 2007-10-25 08:07:00 So I haven't blogged about my dvr addiction lately. I've been too busy watching tv shows on the dvr to blog about it! I'm finally caught up though, and there has been some great moments this week.First of all, Marie Osmond passing out on Monday was priceless...and on live tv! This is the first season that I've watched Dancing with the Stars. I haven't really been into it until now. I'm totally going to watch every single episode now to see someone else pass out on national tv.And The Bachelor... Hometown dates are next week and I can't wait. Hillary broke my heart this week though. When they start crying when they leave, I'm usually like "oh shush, grow up" but I really felt bad for Hillary this week. Maybe all of this reality tv is getting to me!Then the Biggest Loser the other night... Oh my goodness. I still can't believe that Neil's still there after pulling a stunt like that. Uuuuu, I'm so mad! Yes, this reality tv is definitely getting to me.I do have a ne Read more:Great

"Deal?" Works for Me 2007-10-24 08:06:00 I think I've mentioned before how strong-willed Emily is.....yes, maybe here and here and here too....oooo, and here's even a picture of a strong-willed episode.Ok, so we've already established that she is strong-willed and a little difficult to live with. The problem is that a lot of parents use the 'strong-willed' thing as a cop out for disobedience and disrespect. Emily is strong-willed, but she does not run our household or get away with disobedience. We have had to be creative with consequences and requests though. For example, spanking just succeeds is making her really mad and does not discourage wrong-doing. Time-out however is magic. We also have to be careful 'telling' her to do something. If I say "Emily, pick your toys up." She says, "No." But if I say, "Emily, I bet you can pick these toys up really fast." She says, "I bet I can." Now, she doesn't get away with the "No" without some consequences, but life is so much quieter if I remember how to ask her to Read more:Works

Emily: No, I Bayel. Me: Bayel? Emily: No, Bayel. Me: Bayel? Emily: NO, BAYEL! Me: Oh, Bayel. Emily: (laughing) Moooooom!I could tell at least a dozen more but you get the picture!I love you so much Sissy, and I love that we can have fun together. Oh, and thanks for not getting mad when I mess with you!
At the Pumpkin Patch 2007-10-22 14:28:00 This is only the hundredth one that Emily decided to pick up and carry around.Mara took a long time deciding on which one she wanted.Ok, ya'll please look at the camera...I just want one picture.Let's try that again. Well, they ARE all looking at the camera. I guess I forgot to tell them not to look like I had just threatened them! Read more:Pumpkin

Thank you, 2007-10-27 09:27:00 Thank you, thank you very much! I'd like to thank my children and my husband...oh yes, and my parents too. And thank you God for giving me all of these.Oh wait, I don't get to give an acceptance speech for this award. Oops, sorry. The knitter strikes again! 2007-11-02 21:53:00 They've hardly left Mara's feet for longer than a minute!
What happened? 2007-11-02 13:10:00 She looks so old in this picture...where'd my baby girl go?
Need a snack idea? 2007-11-02 12:59:00 While walking into pre-school yesterday Mara said, "The wind tastes yummy, Mom!"Hmmm, having wind for a snack would definitely help me loose my last 20 lbs! Why didn't I think of that?
Nuuuhh Uuhhh! 2007-11-01 15:12:00 I'm just now catching up on the dvr from the beginning of the week. I'm floored about this. She so should have won... I don't think I can watch the rest of the season. Oh, the reality tv drama! I love it, and of course I'll be watching next week!
