2007-10-03 15:46:23
Ding, Ding, Ding. The noise is everywhere, from the minute you step off the airplane to the minute you leave. Whirrs, bops, mechanical screeches, but most of all dings. What is making this racket? Slots, and they are absolutely everywhere. They are in airports, cafes, bars, casinos, convenience stores, even on the streets and everywhere they are there is noise.   How did these devices of infernal racket become so popular? What makes them work? 3 lines, 5 lines, 40 lines which one should I play?   (more…) Related EntriesFremont Street or The Strip? Things to do in Vegas, that don't include gambling.
2007-10-01 18:20:22
It still amazes me at the number of people who think Vegas is all about gambling and nothing else. So I thought I would put a list of activities that you can do that does not include gambling. In fact, most of these are completely free. Sit and enjoy a Sports book. To me this is a lot like enjoying a beer at the local pub. Just a lot more TV’s Eat, honestly there are more restaurants here than you could possibly visit. Slots tournament, believe it or not most of them are free. Imax, the Imax theatres in Vegas have some of the more unique shows. Spend some time on the strip and just soak in the environment. Fremont Street experience, starting every night at about 6pm(sometimes 7) the light show starts. If you haven’t seen it yet make sure you do. See a Show, there is no place else in the world where you can see so many top quality performers. Do a Dinner Show; there are a lot of great dinner shows like the “Tournament of Kings” at the Excalibur. Bellagio Founta

5 tips to finding the best hotel rate in Las Vegas
2007-09-29 10:36:15
Have you ever wondered how your buddies always seem to get the exact same hotel room as you, but at a serious discount? I have come up with a few tricks that usually get me better rates than the average person. Search the web. I usually start with the hotels that I am targeting to stay in. There are usually about a half a dozen that within any given block. Then I just let my keyboard and mouse look for deals. Big travel site like Travelocity or Expedia can sometimes be your best bet. This probably only works about 1 in 6 where they actually list lower rates than the casinos themselves. Still worth the few minutes it takes. Hotels.com I actually really like this service. Basically they search an entire city or country whatever you choose, in a matter of minutes. Checkout the script below for Vegas .htm">Las Vegas you can pick dates and hotel ratings. Good service. Las Vegas Shows and Web 2.0
2007-10-15 17:43:57
What does the latest internet craze have in common with Vegas .htm">Las Vegas Shows? More than you might think. The biggest and most popular Web 2.0 sites such as Digg, Technorati and even your plain old blogging technology like Wordpress all thrive on participation. Participation is something that Las Vegas has been using for 50 years. From the small little magician shows to the giant productions you will find more shows in Las Vegas than anywhere else in the world that rely on audience participation to make them work. Sounds familiar? What would YouTube be without videos? Pretty boring. The same goes for Tony and Tina’s Wedding, a Las Vegas show that relies on customer participation, after all what is a wedding without any guests (watch a video here). Isn’t it interesting to see how things can work in what appears to be totally different environments? Expensive Vegas Restaurants
2007-10-18 14:26:20
You gotta love Las Vegas where else in the world can you spend $5000 on a burger. At Fleur de Lys, chef Hubert Keller's palace of good taste at Mandalay Bay, you can get a $5,000 Kobe hamburger with truffles and foie gras . . . and a bottle of 1995 Château Pétrus, which Tobias Peach, the general manager, says accounts for about $4,975 of the price. Or how about a 16-course, $360-per-person feast at Joël Robuchon at the MGM? To be honest around every corner and certainly in every hotel on the Strip there is an “expensive restaurant”. I thought about recreating a list here, but my budget and experience would be limited to the lower end restaurants. But I did find a nice slideshow that Forbes put together. Forbes has put nice slideshow together of the 10 most expensive Las Vegas restaurants. It is worth a look. Related EntriesLas Vegas Spas Things to do in Vegas, that don't include gambling. With everyone and their dog booking trips online these days the landscape has become exceptionally crowded. It is now almost as much trouble to find the right online booking tool for your needs as it is used to be to find the right travel agent. I have decided to test out a few of the more popular services and see if there is any real difference in the prices they offer. Today we will look at Travelocity.  Travelocity describes their business as this: Travelocity is a leading provider of consumer-direct travel services for the leisure and business traveler. It markets and distributes travel-related products and services directly to individuals through Travelocity and its various brand Web sites and contact centers, and Web sites owned by its supplier and distribution partners. The bias viewed toward Las Vegas and gambling never ceases to amaze me. On a recent trip to Sin City I went with one of my buddies. We normally get together once a week or so to go watch a game at the local watering hole. My buddy is great guy but he chooses not to gamble, which is fine, he believes his hard earned money is too precious to gamble. I assured him that that was absolutely OK and that Vegas is not just gambling. We were planning on just hanging out and playing a few rounds of golf. Why the gaudy carpets in casinos?
2007-11-09 12:23:32
Have you ever wondered why the floors in most casinos look like some type of bad joke? Why the beautiful multi-billion dollar resorts would put such awful second-rate flooring in their building? As with most everything in Las Vegas there is a reason. The first and most obvious reason for the busy designs is traffic. Las Vegas sees more than 35 million people a year, incidentally about the population of Canada, that is a lot of people walking and spilling all over the floors. The busier the design the less likely a flaw will stand out. The other reason, and probably the more important reason for the Casino, is the psychological effect busy designs have on the human brain. Busy designs are hard on the human eye, causing the viewer to look away. It is the same reason why so many of the casinos have high ceilings; it causes the viewer to look away from the dizzying heights. So if you aren’t looking down and you aren’t looking up, where are you looking? Straight ahead where th

When you think of Vegas .htm">Las Vegas you may think of the neon lights, the showgirls or the vast casinos but, I guarantee when you get to Las Vegas you will start thinking food. If Las Vegas does one thing right it is the buffets. I have decided to take on a new project, over the next few weeks I want to list and review every buffet I can find in Las Vegas. Goodbye New Frontier
2007-11-15 11:44:24
The New Frontier opened in 1942, (actually known then as the Last Frontier) back in its heyday it was every bit as impressive as any other hotel in Las Vegas. In fact, it was the first place that Elves Presley played in Las Vegas. Perhaps, best known these days for its all-female bikini clad mechanical bull riding, the New Frontier once had all the glitz and swagger that all Las Vegas hotels are built with. It had once played host to such entertainers as Ronald Reagan, Wayne Newton, and Siegfried and Roy. But, amongst today’s behemoths the 65 yr old 16 story hotel looked out of place. So it had to go. New Frontier Demolition! - The funniest videos clips are here It will soon be replaced by an $8 billion resort that will bear the name of The Plaza and set to open in 2011. IDB Group and Elad Group, the owners of the Plaza hotel in New York, said the new property would include a luxury hotel with about 3,500 rooms, private residences, retail space and a casino bearing the Plaza br
