Wenger should stick to 4-4-2 for Milan 2008-02-19 01:57:37 The most important Arsenal news in what has proven to be a very busy day came with the revelation that William Gallas has escaped any further punishment from his altercation with Luis Nani during the weekend’s FA Cup clash with Manchester United. I touched on how delighted I was with this result a little earlier [...] Read more:Milan

Darren Bent, a flag and Martin O’Neill off to Liverpool 2008-02-18 21:18:07 Everything apart form the flag (,,10265~1243893,00.html) is a rumour and if you didn't already know, the club did try their best at getting us all excited, the Holte End is going to have a pretty big flag to play with on match days.
It's a lovely flag. It has squares, which seem to now be part of the branding on the website and I'm sure the squares represent something on our history, the badge is on it and it's claret and blue - I'm sure it will be a great novelty item and that everyone will really get involved. Gallas is a very lucky boy 2008-02-18 17:17:17 A very quick update this morning to say that Arsenal captain William Gallas has escaped any punishment from his off-the-ball kick on Luis Nani during the weekend FA Cup clash against Manchester United.
To be perfectly honest I fully expected Gallas to get a three-match ban for the incident and every Arsenal supporter as well as [...] Read more:lucky

Milan might be old, but they still have quality 2008-02-18 11:45:06 A fair majority of football pundits have old gone against the current holders of the Champions League when they travel away to The Grove this Wednesday.
Most of them believe they have a team which is too old, you have to agree with them. My point though, is that Milan
have so much quality in their [...]

Real Madrid keeper to sign, apparently, news round-up 2008-08-06 01:51:46
It's very quiet this morning.
Perhaps it's the calm before the storm. I actually typed that as 'clam' before the storm about three times. Imagine that though.
'Reckon there's gonna be a big storm tonight'.
'Why's that?'
'Spotted a giant clam over yonder'.
'Yup'.
Although how the clam would surviv Read more:Madrid

Why do we need Alonso, when we’ve got Senderos? plus Eduardo video. 2008-08-05 12:23:49 Trust me to bring Gooners back to earth after the euphoria of the victory against Real Madrid on Sunday. Yesterday The Guardian reported that Liverpool have attached an 18 million price tag to Xavi Alonso
, who Arsene Wenger is said to want to partner Fabregas in midfield. Of the two midfielders linked with [...] Read more:Eduardo

News round up + Ruben de la Red linked 2008-08-05 01:23:53
Morning morning, from a despicably rainy Dublin.
Some bits and pieces to go on with this morning, starting with the promotion of Jack Wilshere from number 55 to number 19 for the season ahead. It shows that what the boss said yesterday was
true, it's about what he's doing on the pitch and with 7 subs allowed this season he's got a good chance of being involved from tim Read more:linked

Arsenal 1 - 0 Real Madrid: Adebayor begins the long road back 2008-08-04 20:52:34 Yes, it was only a pre-season friendly. But beating Real Madrid
never gets old.
Arsene picked his strongest available XI, which means that Samir Nasri and Theo Walcott started on the flanks, with Emmanuel Adebayor
and Robin van Persie joining forced upfront. It was to be a day in which Adebayor was the pivotal figure, facing [...] Read more:Arsenal

Badge kissing my arse - Xabi Alonso linked 2008-08-04 02:31:24
Bank holiday Monday greetings to you all.
So Hamburg won the Emirates Cup yesterday. Their 3-0 victory over Juventus meant Arsenal had to beat Real Madrid by 4 goals which was never going to happen.
In the end it was just the 1-0 to the Arsenal but it was a deserved victory. We played quite well, I thought, having put out what was as close to our 'first' team Read more:Alonso

Report: Arsenal 1 Real Madrid 0, with a public apology to Jack Wilshere. 2008-08-03 14:50:19 Today, Arsene Wenger’s team had a major task if they were to retain the Emirates trophy, to do it they had to beat Real Madrid
by four clear goals. Arsenal
started as though they wanted to give it their best shot and what a game it would prove to be. The Arsenal lineup was the strongest deployed by Wenger [...] Read more:Real Madrid
Emirates cup preview - Arsenal v Real Madrid 2008-08-03 08:15:20
Real Madrid
were crowned champions of La Liga for a second time in a row after the 2007/08 season. They won the league by a comfortable 8 points in the end but one stand out statistic was that they lost 7 games on the way to this achievement. Compare this to [...] Read more:Arsenal

Ade, Ade booed - plus Arsenal asked Barcelona about Bojan 2008-08-03 04:15:52
Morning all,
happy Sunday to you all. A 1-0 defeat to Juventus yesterday in the Emirates Cup made it unlikely that we'll retain this most prestigious pieces of silverware, unless we spank Real Madrid today.
The Trezeguet goal was miles offside, even a blind man who didn't know the offside rule would have given it. It's not a big deal losing though. These game Read more:Arsenal

Arsenal 0 - 1 Juventus: Minute by Minute 2008-08-02 18:30:00 15.56 Well, the teams are in, and it’s a very young line-up indeed. I can’t quite work out whose playing where - it depends whether or not it’s Kieran Gibbs or Emmanuel Eboue who reverts to full-back. Either way, Eboue will be where he ought to be: in the reserve line-up. Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos [...] Read more:Arsenal

Mixed feelings about Silvestre’s arrival 2008-08-21 02:21:46 Morning,
so Mikael Silvestre is a an Arsenal player. How very odd. The club confirmed the signing of the former United man yesterday for a fee believed to be around £750,000 and he signed a 2 year deal. Arsene Wenger said:
We have a strong squad but a young squad and Mikael’s versatility, experience and calibre will provide the extra depth we need to reinforce our challenge for honours Read more:arrival

Arsenal sign Mikael Silvestre to replace Justin Hoyte 2008-08-20 22:56:11 Hoyte was sold for £3m. Silvestre reportedly cost just £750k.
Hoyte is primarily a right-back, where we already have potential cover in the shape of Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue, and Johan Djourou. Silvestre provides reliable back-up for Gael Clichy, as well as a 6′3″ presence at centre-half.
Hoyte has never won a major trophy. Silvestre has won [...] Read more:Arsenal

Mikaël Silvestre dud or dude? and Adebayor needs our love? 2008-08-20 18:38:43 Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of Mikaël Silvestre from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee, for two years. Now Arsene Wenger likes French players, and he clearly saw in Mikaël Silvestre, a solution to several problems.
Problem no 1
Central defensive cover for our partnership of Gallas and Toure/Djourou/Senderos
Problem no 2

Wenger’s foreign legion 2008-08-20 03:49:09 Morning Insiders, I’m in a bad mood this morning… Is it because there was no milk in the house for my morning cup of tea? No. It’s because tonight sees England face the Czech Republic [...] Read more:Wenger
A terrible waking nightmare, it must be 2008-08-20 02:08:59
I've been having some trouble sleeping the last few nights. I lie there almost wide awake then drift off into that sleep that doesn't seem like sleep at all.
I have these strange and weird dreams that make no kind of sense to me at all. Vivid motion picture dreams but at the same time I'm convinced that I'm not asleep. It's all terribly confusing. I
mean, last night I
Could Arsene really be about to sign Mikael Silvestre? 2008-08-19 18:48:05 Sometimes an idea is so crazy that it might just work. Like rebranding UKTVGold2 as ‘Dave’. Or when it was first rumoured that Arsenal might try and involve William Gallas in the deal that took Ashley Cole to Chelsea. It seemed like fantasy stuff - partly because transfers between the top four clubs are remarkably rare…

New deals, loan deals, big deal 2008-08-19 02:10:02
It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new deal for Adebayor.
Arsenal confirmed that the striker has signed a new long term contract - and
obviously someone running the website has a sense of humour because the picture they used couldn't possibly have been any better. So well done to Adebayor, he got himself a pay rise. Now the
pressure is really on to show that
Wenger on Nasri: ?Sometimes you have to be brave enough when everybody says he is not good.? 2008-08-18 05:54:46 Sometimes I worry that Wenger
applies to the above principle to the likes of Emmanuel Eboue. IT DOESN’T MAKE YOU BRAVE ARSENE. IT MAKES YOU INSANE.
…anyway. After his impressive debut, all the talk this weekend has been about Nasri. In his post-match press conference, Arsene told the story of how he came to sign the midfielder:
“He [...] Read more:Sometimes
Thoughts on the Adebayor booing and more 2008-08-18 02:06:08
Morning all, it's the start of another week. Dreary too. The weather really is depressing for summertime.
After the chorus of boos that Emmanuel Adebayor
was treated to on Saturday Arsene Wenger has urged fans to get behind the Togonator and leave what happened in the summer in the past. He says:
We have to get behind him and support him because he i
