Sounds for Today - Tenously Linked Compilation Tape 2007-10-03 06:51:30 When I was a kid - dim and distant past I know - but compilation tapes were all the rage. Easy way to see if you were going to get on well with someone was to get them to make you a ‘tape’, or vice versa.

Monday Morning Pics : Scotland 3 - Ukarine 1 2007-10-15 05:26:12 Yet again Scotland
won a fitba game - I’m getting a bit too used to us winning games and am starting to think ahead to next summer and investigate flights and hotels to Austria and Switzerland. All Scotland fans know this is a dangerous psychological place to be and is likely to be followed by abject pain when we manage to throw it away.
Saturdays game was the usual fare - we had huge periods of being under the cosh and somehow managed to win - we did have more possession than against France.
Kenny Miller celebrating after scoring a goal - ok so it was a rip off of Boyds goal against Lithuania (I think) but who cares 1 - nil up and less than six minutes on the clock.
Lee McCulloch celbrates his outstanding curler into the top right corner - peach of a goal.
The wee man from Springburn scores - yet again - and puts the game beyond the Ukranians
So all these moments made me happy. And made a lot of people happy too I’m sure. All we need to do is beat Georgia and draw with Read more:Monday

Friday Funday 2007-10-12 09:33:36 Ah well its Friday
again so that means letting lose with the smiles and the happiness once more in a random unfocussed kinda way. So heres somethings that made me smile this week.
http://www.lwsdg.co.uk/ - For some reason they have a copyright notice on the website that extends to 2010! Why on earth they have one like that I have no idea but humourous none the less.
7 Secrets to SEO Success - list of the top seven tactics that’ll help you get your site ranked in the major search engines. have nagging suspiscion that it could well be true :p
Chicken cause traffic Chaos in Central Scotland - Well I start driving to work and find the motorway slip road out of action, so I sit for ages in traffic trying to get to Glasgow entrance at Stirling :thats closed aswell. So I have to drive from Stirling to Denny - Motorway closed again. then move back home to work from home as it was highly unlikely I’d get to Glasgow. On the way home I hear motorway is closed due to the escape of 3,0 Read more:Funday

So 200K buys you an affiliate site and Theo Paphitis gets fleeced 2007-10-24 07:06:10 Yesterday I heard one of the fuinniest things in ages - Theo Paphitis paid 200 grand for 30% of an affiliate site. Colin sat and told me this while I looked on in awe - I thought he was making it up. I dont know if it was a rush of blood to the head of Mr Paphitis or a cunning ploy by a couple of shysters to get money out of him. Anyway this made me happy as the money I lost on Scotland against Georgia now looks like small potatoes compared to this.
Other people have been blogging about this also:

The online X-Box 360 challenge @ Tesco 2007-11-09 04:19:53 You may know Fi and I ordered X-box 360’s, in good faith, from Tescoonline
for the princely sum of £35. It would appear that there may be a loophole in how tesco direct works.
Every so often they spider their competitors websites extracting the prices of the stuff they sell. If they find a competitors selling it cheaper they take 1p off the price and then lower the price a further 5% to make them competitive (from what I can find out online). It would appear that yesterday Virgin accidentally dropped some prices on the site – the x-box 360 one was live on the site for around an hour, it would appear that tesco were served with a number of incorrect prices during this period!
This led to Tesco dynamically pricing and advertising x-box 360’s for about £35.
So if any anyone ever wants a similar system developed – as they’re quite common these days - remember they’ll need to put a minimum price on each item – so if a competitor gets wise (accidentally messes up the
Ninja Death Monkeys on Jetpacks with Lasers 2007-11-08 08:25:08 I’m gutted that the Equator steering group does not share my vision for our Christmas campaign. My idea is that we dress monkeys up like santa strap them into remote controlled jetpacks fitted with lasers and we battle them to the death - its kinda like a hi-tech conckers. The last monkey standing wins? I just can’t understand why anyone would have a problem with this idea? Read more:Lasers

Alan Moore knows the score 2007-11-08 05:15:47 Was sitting last night trying to work out what to do - girlfriend at work and had little interest in watching football. So instead I started to go round and find stuff out about the Watchmen Film which is due out soon.

Google, Umbraco and DotNetDave 2007-11-16 04:26:05 Umbraco is an open source CMS for .net 2.0 - a strange thing in itself with Dot Net stuff normally being expensive and rarely free. So when DotNetDave started talking about Umbraco I was hugely interested - I generally only code (badly) in php so having an open source CMS solution in Dot Net looked like something that could give me a starting point to mess about with .net code - cheers to the guys at Oyster Web for giving me some .net hosting space for free to mess about with.

Online Comics - Cyanide and Happiness 2007-11-20 08:52:09 I really love comics - I still can’t bear to call them ‘Graphic Novels’ - they’re comics. Hand drawn images with/without nice inking and with great content. Its a genre which keeps redeveloping and redefining itself. Online comics have been about for a while but are generally rubbish. However some are kinda funny (and thanks to Wee Mark for giving me the idea for this post).

WordPress Theme Design 2007-11-26 10:39:09 Last night I had a bit of time on my hands - and I’ve been messing about with ‘designing’ themes for wordpress. I am not a designer so it can be an arduous process. But with a little bit of time and using the wordpress sandbox theme I’ve been able to hack a feww together quite quickly - they’re nothing special but they work (which is good).
The glorious pink and blue theme you see before you was hacked together with minimal difficulty and just the addition of one image. Over the next couple of weeks I’m going to go through the anatomy of a wordpress theme and show how to develop simple themes quickly purely by using the sandbox theme and by building a css sheet. Mimobots are cool 2007-11-28 11:41:51 Have you ever heard of Mimobots? If you have you’ll know they’re fantastic - an absolute must. And the star wars mimobots are even more beautiful. It’s just been announced that series two of the mimbots is about to be released and I’m trying to work out how I’m going to geta hold of these little beauties.
What are Mimobots?
Mimobots are USB drives are more. Yep thats their USP they’re cool, sexy and utterly gorgeous 1GB USB drives. Floppy disk sucked - 5 1/4″ were too wavy and got scratched all the time- tapes were cool and loading screen on the speccy were part of their USP - zip drives for speccys were so much better, but mimobots are the ultimate way to transfer your information from PC to PC. They’re beautiful and useful - is that not what design should be.
When they ship you’ll probably be able to get them at Dinky Box. If you want more news on the new range of star wars mimobots have a look at Vinyl Pulse.
EchoBender Effects Pedal 2008-02-25 11:25:11 In some of my spare time I am a bit of a noisemonger. I know I’m getting old but rattling the hell out of a guitar induces a state of zen like calm in me.
I’ve always had a strange love of anything a little bit strange sounding - hence my love of flying saucer attack [...] Read more:Effects
