Importance of Combatting Radical Islamists
2007-10-01 17:23:00
For the foreseeable future, there's one issue that will dominate my candidate selection process....their stance on the War on Terror and dealing with Islamic Fundamentalistism (or whatever else you want to call it). I believe this fight (intellectually, ideologically, culturally, militarily...whatever) is the most critical problem we face.Liberals just don't seem to grasp the seriousness of the threat posed by Radical Islamism. Be this because liberals celebrate "diversity" and "multiculturalism" (the radical Islamism is "misunderstood" and "oppressed" arguments), or because liberals love "peace" (the "if we're peaceful, they'll be peaceful too because we won't cause more problems in the world leading them to hate us" arguments) -- as if republicans, independants, conservatives, etc don't value and desire peace as well. Whatever their reasons, liberals consistently take weaker positions when it comes to dealing and confronting Islamic Fundamentalism. Their solution is not to figh

Democrats' Defeatist Rhetoric Aids Terrorists
2007-10-01 17:10:00
Want some clear evidence that Democrats ' Defeatist Rhetoric Aids Terrorists ? Well, first off, a quick look back...Harry Reid: "[the] war is lost"66% of Democrats: "the war effort has already failed"Howard Dean: "The idea that we are going to win this war [in Iraq] is an idea that unfortunately is just plain wrong."These are just a few examples of the defeatist approach Democrats have chosen to take towards Iraq. It's all about pulling out...setting a date for withdrawal. You don't set dates for your military to give up a fight. That's not a redeployment, that's surrendering. What happens in sports when one team quits a game? How bout a tournament? Are they "redeploying" elsewhere? No. It's called quitting or also known as forfeiting. What happens in sports when you quit a game? You lose, the other side wins. That's exactly what happens in Iraq if we quit and give up the fight. We lose, and the terrorists win (although according to Mr. Reid, that's already happened)

Time to Encourage DDT Use in Third World
2007-10-01 17:09:00
Enough is enough. Ok, DDT has some harmful side-effects, but are they worse than the death and human suffering caused by malaria? It's so easy for American environmentalists and the like to criticize use of DDT in Third World countries when we've already used it, benefited from it, and wiped out the problem of malaria in the United States. The argument of Third World countries aka the "South" at environmental summits, conventions, etc is that they have a right to develop. In the midst of their poverty, major health and nutrition problems, etc, the "North" and developed countries have the nerve to lecture these suffering populations about saving mosquitoes! Read below..."Malaria was actually a natural population control, and DDT has caused a massive population explosion in some places where it has eradicated malaria. More fundamentally, why should humans get priority over other forms of life? . . . I don't see any respect for mosquitos in these posts." - Jeff Hoffman, Environmen

Environmental Ethics In Focus
2007-10-01 17:01:00
Is there an environmental ethic in our society? How bout in the international society? Should there be?These are all very real questions currently being asked by many. I think the answer is yes, there is an environmental ethic. The uncertainty arises in the extent that this ethic exists. For example, 30 or so years ago, there wasn't an American ethic that told us it was wrong to litter. Highways were often lined sporadically with trash, rivers scattered with garbage, etc. An old commercial helped spur a change - you know, the one with the Indian seeing all the litter and having the tear roll down his cheek.Well I think it's safe to say that between then and now, a definite ethic developed in our society. Laws might have helped to accelerate the development of this ethic (through fines and what-not), but at the root was our own conscience getting to us.This ethic has continued to develop and is now at a crossroads. One path leads to an ever-expanding environmental ethic, and th

Poverty Ain't What It Used to Be
2007-10-01 17:00:00
Mr. Richard E. Rector recently wrote an interesting analysis of poverty in the United States.Just to quote a few of my favorite stats and lines:"Most of America's 'poor' live in material conditions that would be judged as comfortable or well-off just a few generations ago.""Nearly 75% of poor households own a car; 31% own two or more cars.""Nearly all (97%) poor households have color TVs, but more than half actually own two or more color televisions. 25% own large-screen televisions, 78% have a VCR or DVD player, and almost 67% have cable or satellite TV reception. Some 58 percent own a stereo." (emphasis added)"Father absence is another major cause of child poverty. Nearly 67% of poor children reside in single-parent homes; each year, an additional 1.5 million children are born out of wedlock. If poor mothers married the fathers of their children, almost three-quarters would immediately be lifted out of poverty."And my personal favorite:"The typical poor family with children is sup

Learn Something About Immigration
2007-10-01 16:53:00
Roy Beck gives a wonderful presentation on how liberal American immigration policies are doing nothing for the betterment of third world countries (like Mexico), but actually endangering the future of the American way of life. Ron Paul & Rudy Giuliani
2007-10-01 16:53:00
The above clip reveals a lot about the men speaking. Ron Paul is RINO, and this is evidenced even by the question he was asked in the debate. Attempting to spin his way around the question of whether he or his party is out of sync, he reveals how far left he really is. His ultimate answer to solving the global issue of terrorism is to listen to the terrorists, and, basically, to do what they say so they won't try to attack us again. Does anyone really want a president who asks terrorists what the America should do to make them happy? Then there is Rudy Giuliani , who, I will admit, is earning my favor more and more. Although it was brief, his retort to Ron Paul's assertion was nothing short of Reaganesque, or even Churchillian. Where Winston was a bull dog, it appears that Rudy could be a pit bull, one that feeds on liberal foreign policy. Don't assume that I agree with everything Rudy says, because I don't. However, with the dangers that surround us today (Iran, Al Qaeda, North Kore

Senate Stops Mexican Truckers, For Now
2007-10-01 16:52:00
If you haven't already heard the news, the senate has voted 75-23 to block funding for a highly controversial program that would allow Mexican freight trucks to roam US soil. The original legislation for the program was created in 1995 under NAFTA (thank you Mr. Clinton), but has been met and held off by stringent opposition by teamsters, other businesses and law-makers alike. The program actually began this month with a few trucks gaining authorization to go beyond traditional checkpoints, but the latest senate vote has stopped the program from going any further at the moment. It should come as no surprise that President Bush wasn't happy to hear the results of the vote, nor was the leader of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, John Hill, who called the vote "a sad victory for the politics of fear and protectionism." A victory yes, but it was not sad. All representatives from border states, with the exception of John McCain who did not vote, voted against the program.

Dennis Kucinich Should Stay In Syria
2007-10-01 16:51:00
Welcome to backwards world, or, as most people know it, the world of Dennis Kucinich .In a recent interview with Syria n TV station MemriTV, krazy Kookcinich did nothing short of degrade the United States in regards to Iraq while applauding Syria and encouraging Iran. Kucinich even began to outline his genius peace-keeping plan which includes the "help of Syria and Iran" to "bring in an international peace-keeping force" into Iraq while American troops move out.Exactly what does Kucinich think either of these countries knows about establishing peace? Syria is a haven and known supplier of weaponry for insurgents who cross over an unchecked border into Iraq to fight US and coalition forces, a known contributor to several terrorist organizations, and known to have assassinated former Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri. And, I'm sure we all know that Iran isn't exactly peaceful either, just Google 'Iran' and 'nuclear weapons'. Did Kucinich not get the memo? Two more Kookcinich sta

Calling, faxing and writing letters to your representatives is not always convenient for those of us with busy schedules, limited resources or are just a bit lazy when it comes to writing or being put on hold. There is an excellent and free resource available, though, that allows all of our conservative voices to reach the people that are supposed to be listening to them. This resource is the NumbersUSA Action Buffet. From this site you can fax or call representatives about various immigration issues using ready to go and customizable templates. Use NumbersUsa.com to research congressional voting records, immigration bills, etc. and then take action by sending a fax or making a call online for free.Does it really work? Yes. I receive a response letter almost every time I fax one of my representatives. One last thing. If you like the resource and you use the NumbersUSA Action Buffet, please donate to it. Since this is a conservative resource you should know there is no government funding

What Is The Insurgent Death Toll In Iraq?
2007-10-01 16:49:00
It seems that every day, whether I turn on the TV, pick up the paper or get my news online, there is another pro abortion leftist screaming about the death toll of American soldiers in Iraq . Before I go any further, those people are hypocrites. Now, why aren't they and others talking about the death toll of insurgents?I can't point to the liberal media on this one. Supposedly, to avoid Viet Nam-like errors the Bush administration has decided not to release the number of enemy casualties. Why not? Can he not see that lacking this information aides liberals in painting the picture of a losing war? Can you imagine the coach of your home team only allowing the score of the visiting team to be posted on the scoreboard? You team may be the best in the league, but you would always have a zero staring at you. Even if the visitors kept a low score, you'd still be questioning yourself a bit.The point is, liberals are saying the war is lost based on one death toll, not comparing two. At the s

Wow, Pelosi Does Something Right
2007-10-01 16:47:00
Give credit where it's due...Nancy Pelosi was one of the few Democrats that said they condemned the infamous "Patreous Ad" put in the NY Times by MoveOn.org. Joining her was Joe Lieberman, but oddly not Hillary Clinton, nor Barack Obama, nor John Edwards. Yet Democrats try to take the position that groups such as MoveOn.org are "fringe" groups of the party. If so, then tell me why will Clinton, Obama, Edwards, and all the rest not step forward and acknowledge the harm such an ad does?? Though she hasn't done much right since becoming "Maddam Speaker," I'll give ole Pelosi props on this one.

Democrats Recruiting the Illegal Vote
2007-10-01 16:44:00
The Democrats are positioning themselves so they will eventually create an "illegal vote." Democrats already love "classes of voters." Now the Democratic presidential candidates are attacking Republicans in an effort to make the GOP the "bad-guys" of all immigrants - clearly courting votes from what they hope will be an "immigrant class" of voters. For example, the words of Hillary Clinton: "[illegal immigration] is being used to bash immigrants, and that must stop. The Republican candidates need to understand that they are doing a great disservice to our country".Democrats have historically thrived on the benefits of luring entire "classes" of voters. You see it with the so-called "black vote" that is predominantly Democrat. Democrats have no choice but to exagerate and prolong the existence of racism in this country, much to blacks' detriment (I would argue). The same is true for affirmative action. Democrats cannot admit such policies are outdated or in need of revision for fe

A Spanish Lesson for Mexico
2007-10-01 16:34:00
Word of the day: “ganamos.” Mexicans - read it, learn it, spell it, and quit forgetting it.I think Mexico , both historically and today, completely lacks the simple understanding of this word. “Ganamos.” Has a nice ring to it….“ga-na-mos.” It means, “we won.”Want it in a sentence? We won the wars. (Note: wars is plural – more than one war). But maybe Mexico just doesn't remember (or maybe they didn't get the memo), so let’s time travel back in history to April 21, 1836. This is the year that Texans won their war for independence from Mexico. On that day, after the Mexican Army of over 1,500 men had been defeated by half as many Texans in only 18 minutes, the Texans declared, you guessed it, “ganamos.” Unfortunately, Mexico did not understand this word.About nine years after winning their independence from Mexico, Texans finally got their wish – U.S. statehood in 1845. The annexation of Texas eventually sparked the Mexican-American War in 1846. In February of

Immigration Out of Focus
2007-10-01 16:28:00
post-Republican TV debate....His scripted shot at Edwards aside, old Romney once again seemed poised, confident, a lil presidential even... Somehow though (and disappointingly so), he always seems to lack genuineness and instead has an unfortunate "politician" feel. Anyways, Romney did succeed in an attempt to discredit Giuliani in terms of his stance on illegal immigration. Romney asserted with a negative connotation that Giuliani thinks illegal immigration is about crime. He went on to explain that this view is wrong and that the issue of illegal immigration is much deeper. I'm afraid Romney is the one who is wrong...Though he is correct to claim that there's more to illegal immigration than crime, he is mistaken to think that Giuliani is wrong to focus on illegal immigration and crime. I would argue that Giuliani is focusing precisely on one of the two aspects of the issue that need addressing the most (the other is border security). Now, let me get out right now that I do underst

Ron Paul Leans Left Again
2007-10-12 16:48:00
I happened to dig up a post that, once again, revealed how far left Ron "The RINO" Paul constantly leans. Apparently Ron and fellow presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich are co-sponsoring The Benjamin Franklin True Patriot Act along with 27 others, with everyone's favorite RINO being the only "Republican" sponsor. What is The Benjamin Franklin True Patriot Act about, anyway? It's about reviewing the Patriot Act to make sure it doesn't encroach too far on civil liberties. I admit, I do hope there comes a day when phone calls don't have to be monitored, but knowing full well that some terrorists want nothing more that to harm innocent Americans and that apologetic liberals will defend the motives of those terrorists, I'm certain this isn't the time. Maybe if the border weren't so porous and the apologists weren't so naive my opinion would be different.

A Democrat Revelation
2007-10-10 10:10:00
Whoa...Rep. John Tanner, a Democrat from Tennessee had a breakthrough!!"We can no longer approach the discussion on Iraq as a partisan issue. Our soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen and Guardsmen aren't fighting as Democrats or Republicans but as Americans."What an honorable and honest thing to say! But does this mean that the Democrats are finally going to stop playing politics with the war and advocating a policy where America loses, but the Democrats win?? I doubt it.The Democrats have staked too much on us losing the war in Iraq. Our success there would be a political disaster for Democrats. Imagine what would happen in the presidential election if the war is portrayed as anything remotely successful? The Democrats' only hope in the 2008 elections is pushing the false picture that we're involved in a war "we've already lost."Make no mistake, Democrats do not want us to win and succeed in Iraq. It's disgusting, but true.

Duncan Hunter 2016?
2007-10-09 16:21:00
Unfortunately, I think it might be too late for Duncan Hunter in 2008. He's just too far behind in terms of fund-raising and public awareness. I myself don't know all that much about his stances on many issues, but the ones I've heard (for the most part), I like. Would he be VP material?Regardless, after a Republican wins in '08 and re-election in '12, I can see him being a more major player to win it in 2016.A few things I like about Hunter:Hunter sponsored a resolution for a School Prayer Amendment:H.J.RES.52 (2001), H.J.RES.66 (1999), S.J.RES. 1, H.J.RES.12, H. J. RES. 108, & H. J. RES. 55: Nothing in this Constitution shall be construed to prohibit individual or group prayer in public schools or other public institutions. Rudy Giuliani & The TTC Project: A Paradox

"Giuliani 's Houston-based law firm, Bracewell & Giuliani, is identified by the Texas Department of Transportation as the sole law firm representing Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte, S.A., the Spanish investment consortium that has joined with Zachry Construction Company in San Antonio on the TTC project." - WorldNetDaily.comIf you are unfamiliar with the TTC acronym, it stands for Trans-Texas Corridor; a project that will see an international superhighway built parallel to Interstate 35 in Texas. However, the TTC highway will be bigger... much bigger... as wide as the length of 4 football fields. Trucks, cars and trains will operate on this highway that is planned to extend from Mexico to Canada through U.S. soil. What does Giuliani's involvement with this project mean? What does it say about his view of illegal immigration and U.S. sovereignty?I've liked many of the things Rudy has said, but I certainly don't like the idea of him supporting a project that wo

Iran: "Peace and Friendship for All"
2007-10-08 17:40:00
This is an interesting report on CNN about Iran. The jist of it is that Islam's version of Simon-the-Likeable, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, declared that Iran wants "peace and friendship for all." For all that is...except Israel...Ahmadinejad went on to say that Israel was "an invader," and that it "cannot continue its life." That's harsh language from someone crying "peace and friendship for all." It's scary when you think that this is coming from the same guy who has said Israel should be wiped off the map on multiple occasions. Furthermore, this is from the leader of the country supposedly seeking nuclear weapons.Ahmadinejad is on a major campaign to further divide the West and separate the U.S. and Israel from our allies, and he's employing careful rhetoric to do so, such as "We want friendship -- friendship to all. We love all nations and all human beings. Anyone who is killed, we are against it." That's the gravy on the mashed potatos for much of the liberal peace racket!

Gingrich Says No to White House Bid
2007-10-08 17:39:00
Newt Gingrich has finally ended speculation about a possible White House run in 2008.Personally, I think this is a good thing. Newt can still help bring about the changes that he believes the country needs without being a presidential candidate. For the GOP, it lets focus continue to be on the current candidates. Thompson's delay in enterring the race hurt the start of his campaign, and I fear the same might have been true for Newt.Besides, Newt's year might be the 2012 election if Hillary wins 2008. He could be the familiar conservative face/name to rally around after a few painful years under another Clinton.

Hillary Recognizes Iran's Army For What It Is

Therefore, on this occasion, I applaud Sen. Clinton for recognizing that Iran is not a friend of the U.S., and not a so-called victim of capitalism, but that it is indeed an enemy of the U.S.

Giuliani - Republicans' Best Chance?
2007-10-08 09:48:00
Rudy Giuliani claims he "can win in all 50 states" and is "the only Republican candidate who can beat [Hillary] Clinton" in the general election. This might very well be true. As a moderate Republican and hailing from a rather liberal state like New York, Giuliani is well positioned to lure independants (huge strength for him) and moderate Democrats. As much as Democrats hate Bush (truly hate him, which is sad), there are many that realize their party is being driven further and further to the left. The stronger the grip of radical far-left groups (such as MoveOn.org) on the party gets, the more likely moderate Democrats will seek an alternative. A moderate Republican ala Rudy Giuliani could sway these Democrats to vote in his favor. The same probably would not be true for other candidates. Other candidates might be able to get indepedant votes, but Giuliani presents a much better chance to do so.The big unknown variable is whether a Giuliani party nomination would cause the very

Definition of Liberals
2007-10-08 09:48:00
Below is possibly the best description of the liberal mind that I've read in a long, long time. Courtesy of Frank Pastore and his article about the industry of Carbon Offsets.Enjoy:"In the liberal mind, it’s better to 'care' about a problem than it is to actually solve it. Whether it’s poverty, racism, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, illegal immigration, public education, the threat from radical Islam or nearly any other problem we face, liberals would rather make the effort to convince you how much they can empathize and 'feel your pain,' than they would to actually do the hard work of implementing policies to fix the problems or reduce the threats."As the magnificent Harry Hoo used to say, "Ah-mazing."

11% Approve of Democratic Congress

The latest Reuters/Zogby poll puts approval of the Democratic Congress at just 11%. Only eleven percent. This poll release coincides with a nice little article by Walter Williams that can be found here. It's basically a review of a the book, "The Myth of the Rational Voter: Why Democracies Choose Bad Policies," by Professor Bryan Caplan of George Mason University. It discusses how what the public perceives the effects of policies to be is often far from the reality. What perfect timing! Here a book that exposes the empty promises of liberal policies and how Democratic voters often don't see or realize the emptiness behind them is highlighted and reviewed...this all at the same time the approval ratings continue to drop for a Democratic Congress that promised so much in a bitter election, but has failed to deliver and people are realizing more and more that their case never held water. It reminds me of an ole Conway Twitty song...
