My Fraternity Little Brother
2007-11-28 19:38:04
Since I went back home for Thanksgiving I have been looking for a digital camera. I have the one that I received to blog, but it is a combo one with a video camera too. I wanted one specific to take pictures with a great megapixel. I had purchased one in China, but the quality of the pictures still isn’t good. I had a Nikon before, but the night time photos never came out great. I just got back from Brandsmart. They always have a great selection of electronics. I saw a couple digital cameras, but the workers never seem too knowledgeable on what they are selling. I wanted to come back to school to look at Lynette’s camera and check on some reviews online. I went to Lynette’s room to vent about my digital camera experience and how I really wanted to get one. My fraternity little brother, Jesse, without hesitation said, “I have a digital camera that’s brand new and I am not using it because I just got a new one. You want to see it?” He went to get the c

Boston Gets Hit With Snow and My Flight Home…
2007-12-16 15:58:40
Like I mentioned last night, I changed my original flight departure out of Fort Lauderdale from 8pm to 730am. I woke up this morning at 4:30am to call Delta to check on my flight, “DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS IN BOSTON: FLIGHT CANCELED”. It was disappointing, but at the same time I had just fallen asleep at 2am. I changed my flight to the 12:40pm and went back to bed. I woke up at 10:30am and to no surprise….”DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS IN BOSTON: FLIGHT CANCELED”. Where did this put me, back to my original flight. I was already packed because I had stayed up so late after the conference. I usually pack really heavy, but for some reason I filled just one suitcase. I think it was because I planned on getting stuff for Christmas. I took this time to go see Kristie, my Residence Director, who was packing and leaving this semester to go to New Jersey. I really did want to say goodbye, but it is always easier for me to say “hello” instead of goodbye. M

Winter Summit at FAU
2007-12-15 21:20:19
So my responsibility as Associate Director of Business Administration for SAACURH is to arrange all transportation for all the other board members. I had booked everyone’s flights for this conference back in November. Ron had called me to confirm the airline. Jill had her confirmation. Whitney was the concern. Whitney was traveling from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale. He was departing at 4:30pm and arriving at 6:30pm. He called Sean at 6:30 saying he went to the airport, checked every terminal, and everyone told him that his name wasn’t in the database (by the way; he had his confirmation with him) and regardless of what his confirmation said, he could not board. Whitney didn’t call me or Ej or Sean to figure it out. The attendant continued to further explain that there was a line of people behind Whitney that they needed to assist. WHAT???? I was ecstatic. His flight cost $250.00 of regional money. So they deny you boarding and tell you that they are busy and need to ass

Finals Are Over, A Photographic Memory
2007-12-12 17:42:10
My last final just finished at 6:30pm. I should know by 9PM all my grades. I pretty much know what to expect because I have seen all my grades in advance. It feels so good to have them all done. Studying for my finals and any tests in general is not a very time consuming process. If I could identify my ability to retain and process information; I have a photographic memory. After reading each chapter for any subject, I gain an understanding of the topic and can repeat and explain what I have learned to a friend or classmate. I am often criticized or questioned whether I have a significant comprehension on the topic because on essay tests my responses are almost directly word for word from the text. My mom is someone who I can relate with most of my friends when it comes to studying. She has to spend extra time making flash cards, reading the chapters, and studying for exams. Everyone’s learns differently and people just have to accept that. The way any individual learns should ne

Armando Is Leaving
2007-12-10 18:38:20
I just got to Allison’s house for a Haunakah  Party.  I just got back from Chili’s after taking Armando out for dinner. This semester has flown by. In only a few more days Armando will be leaving for break and for next semester. He is going to Ireland to study abroad. I am really excited for him and wish him the best of luck. I think that he will have a great experience and awesome opportunity to explore the world. It will be a lot different here without him. I met him Freshman year and we have been best friends since then. He came home with me at the end of Freshman year and met my mom and family. It has been so much fun getting to know him as a best fri end. I do not characterize too many individuals as my best friend. It is really a name that distinguishes someone that is really close to me. Next semester will be really different for me. I won’t have that person I used to have to go to dinner or go to the mall. The bro who would just come over to my room on duty

Final Exam #1
2007-12-10 09:12:17
I got back last night at 1am and had full intentions of studying a little bit, but I was really tired. There was no time for me to study at this hour. I had a really great grasp on Purchasing and have a great grade, but the final is still worth 30% of my grade. I was on duty on Friday and Saturday so I had the opportunity to review some chapters. I have a photographic memory. The first time I read a chapter in the Purchasing book I tend to capture all the key points and significant information. I woke up at 9:00am this morning to review a couple more chapters and go over the cooking conversions. These were important to the math problem that was going to encompass standard cost, EP cost, and menu cost with at 35% mark up. I have 2 hours until the final. I can’t think of what else more I should study…I should be rea

Snow, snow, and more snow
2007-12-20 15:20:08
I have been home only three days and it is continuing to snow. It is pretty nice considering last year when I was home it didn’t snow at all. The last time I was actually home for break was January. Spending the whole summer in Florida; it’s nice to be home and see the snow. The coldness is getting a bit much considering I have to go buy more clothes because none of my clothes are suitable for the freezing temperatures. I spent the morning plowing the driveway with my four wheeler. I think it was the Christmas of my sophomore year in high school my mom bought me a plow to attach onto the four wheeler. Its pretty sweet. We have a lot of property and a huge driveway so it makes it easier to clear the snow away. I went on the snow mobile for a little bit. It flew through the snow. These are the good times that I can always look forward to when I go home for winter break. I ended up going skiing after lunch. The conditions were so nice. It was snowing and the snow on the mou

Home Sweet Home
2008-03-06 23:36:12
At the beginning of the semester as an RA staff in E.M. Lynn we decided the duty schedule for the rest of the semester. Doing the weekly schedule was a challenge because certain individuals on our staff couldn’t differentiate between “days the can’t work” and “days they didn’t want to work”. Nevertheless, we eventually got [...]

Karina Thinks She Can Take Me
2008-03-03 20:44:23
I would never fight a girl, but if Karina thinks she could take me in arm wrestling she is wrong….I don’t even remember how this discussion got started. I think she said that she could pick me up or throw me across the room.

Cannoli Kitchen Ranked #1 Pizza in Boca Raton
2008-02-29 12:20:15
The past two days have been pretty relaxing. I have been staying at the Holiday Inn right down the road for NoFrills conference that is being held at Florida Atlantic University. Last night and this morning we ate in the FAU dining hall. It was really good. Once again, another institution allows students to TAKE [...]

100 on Hospitality Design and Development
2008-02-28 09:16:37
Have you ever sat in a classroom when taking an exam and keep looking over your answers more than once? That is me when I take every exam. I sat in Dr. Downey’s class this morning just going over question after question and checking my answers. I was probably the first student in the class [...]

X-Treme Air hits Campus!
2008-02-27 13:39:22
I have been waiting for this event for so long. KAT looked at bringing it to campus last year, but because of liability reasons general counsel decided it wasn’t the best idea. This year they granted us permission and the event was a huge success. Since we started at 11am there has been lines to [...]

2008-02-20 13:44:40
We are about half way through spring semester and they have finally recognized the locks on our doors in EML have issues. Apparently it has only been certain doors, mine in particular, but it has been a pain. I lived in Lynn Residence Center all last year and I never once needed my lock to be [...]

The Tallahassee Drive
2008-02-15 14:54:58
Six hour drive to Tallahassee feels like 24 hours. I guess it didn’t help much that I was awake most of the evening. Last night I took Erica to the Miami airport. We left at 5:30pm and didn’t end up getting to Miami until 7:45pm. On the way home I didn’t think I would have [...]

APCA Fun Continues
2008-03-12 21:07:16
The dinner showcase was amazing. We ended up sitting at a table with a couple of agents because Mark had to sit with the co-op buyers in the state of Florida. One of the agents could analyze handwriting. Tova eagerly volunteered to do it first. He gave her two sentences that she had to write [...]

Tornado Hits Us
2008-03-15 15:53:23

The damage occurring to the Georgia Dome and the downtown area is unbelievable. Luckily we went to the Atlanta Aquarium yesterday because it is closed now. Hail just [...]

Atlanta Aquarium
2008-03-15 00:58:03
Fact #1: Atlanta has the largest aquarium in the world . Fact #2: The whale sharks were transported by UPS from Taiwan in an aircraft. They had to leave an attendant in Taiwan because the 100lbs would affect the plane. Fact #3: Sea Dragons cost over $80,000 a year to feed. Fact #4: All Grouper fish are born [...]

Dinner with T-JohnE While Fooling April is on Campus
2008-03-14 02:58:02
T-John E, one of the agencies we work with that brought ThinkFast, Tron System, and X-Treme Air to campus, invited all of us to dinner. It was a great opportunity to put a face to an email for once, but when we started looking at the menus my stomach began to twitch. While we were at [...]

SGA President Candidate
2008-03-26 08:31:17
At the deadline for SGA E-Board applications the position of SGA President and SGA Vice President was vacant. I had some original thoughts to run for SGA President, but I wanted to give an opportunity to other students that may want to establish a leadership position on campus. However, when I was informed that their [...]
