The Next two weeks 2007-09-30 23:12:33 So the next two weeks are going to be intense. The basketball team is starting what our coaches call “Boot Camp.” The coaches got this from Billy Gillispie who coaches at Kentucky and they decided to bring it back to our program. The team will lift weights at about 5:45 in the morning, and then will be running on the track at Pope John Paul High School next door, or conditioning in the gym. Then after that I’ll go to my classes. Then from 12:30 to 3:30 our team will practice. On Friday, I will be leaving to go to Easton, Pennsylvania for a party for my uncle who recently got married to his partner of 23 years. I get back Sunday and Monday we continue “Boot Camp.” Then on Thursday the 11th, I will be speaking at an event for the Gay-Straight Alliance on campus about when my brother came out to me, and my family and culture’s view on homosexuality. Then a couple of days later my mom, grandmother, and uncle will be coming in town because my grandmother
South/Arkansas 2007-09-29 20:34:30 Ok, so I am from Arkansas
. And as far as I know, I am the only one at Lynn who lived only in Arkansas. Most people at Lynn are from New England or international students. So, I get a lot of crap for being from the south, but I love being from the south. While I am from the south, I am not part of the KKK, I don’t date relatives, I am literate, and I don’t eat food I find on the road.
But, I do love high school and college football. If I was offered a ticket to the BCS National Championship game or a ticket to the Super Bowl, I would take the ticket to the BCS National Championship in a heartbeat. I love the atmosphere and the tailgating. As a kid, anytime the Arkansas Razorbacks played in Little Rock, I was there. My dad and I would show up hours before the game and walk around and find people giving out food and we would get some, especially if it was BBQ. The greatest game I went to was in 2002 with my cousin Andrew. We were sitting on the 50 yard line. Arkansas was losin Read more:South
Getting Hectic 2007-09-28 16:49:27 Whew! It is getting hectic here. For the past couple of weeks I’ve been getting up for basketball at about 5:30-6:00 in the morning. The team starts individuals, a small version of practice with about four players, or conditions, then I go back to my room about 7:30. On Monday, Wensday, and Friday, I get to sleep for about an hour, but a lot of times its hard to go back to sleep since I’m already awake, then I’m in my Marketing class at 9:00. That class is so fun. I guess its also a little easier for me since I’ve grown up in a business so I was involved in marketing and talked to my Mom about marketing a lot. Then at 10:00, I’m in Spanish class which is very intresting. I’ve taken Spanish before so I get some of it. On Tuesday and Thursday I’m in Intro to Sports Management at 8:15, American History at 9:30 and Computer Applications at 11. Sports Management is a lot of fun. We talk about sports (obviously), but Professor Curtis makes it so fun when we do. American History Read more:Hectic
Head Manager of the Basketball Team 2007-09-25 10:52:25 Most of you are probably wondering what I do as the head manager of Lynn’s Men’s Basketball
Team. Well, there is a lot that goes on. During practice, I will get involved in drills, wether this be taking a pad and hitting players while they are trying to score at the rim or passing the ball to them or rebounding, its hard work. Its not uncommon to see me break a sweat during practice. I have to be at morning individuals in pre-season, which we start between 6:15-6:30 in the morning. I also have to be at conditioning at 6:00 in the morning with water. This means I have to be at the gym by 5:30 to fill up the water bottles and go to the track at Pope John Paul High School or set up the gym on campus. Then we have practice from 12:30-3:30 in the afternoon. During the season I will travel with the team and keep stats during games, make sure the managers are doing what they are suppossed to do. Being the head manager is a lot of hard work and very time consuming. I am on call 24
What is SGA? 2007-09-15 16:29:24 HEY Y’ALL!!! I am at an SGA board meeting and hope that y’all will join SGA this year if you’re a student now, or next year if you are gonna come next year. Its a great way to get involved and meet people. There are so many organizations, including a sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma; three fraternities, Zeta Beta Tau, Alpha Phi Delta, and Lamda Sigma Upsilon; KAT, which brings many activities to campus, such as Hinder; RHA, which is an organization to help make dorm life better. SGA is in the process of trying to become a better organization and promote campus life!
Who is Gene? 2007-09-04 09:48:32 Hello, my name is Gene Prousnitzer. I am currently a sophmore at Lynn University. I am a Sports Management major from right outside Little Rock, Arkansas. I am the Head Manager of the Men’s Basketball Team, the Secretary of Student Government, and a Founding Father of the Zeta Beta Tau colony here at Lynn. I am really excited about doing this blog so yall can get insight on surviving at college and give you insight to Lynn.
Start of practice 2007-10-13 21:47:29 Well, we are about to start regular season practice. That means that our first game is only three weeks away!! Our first game is against Bethune Cookman, and then three days later, we play the University of Florida. For some reason, I am more excited about this season, then I was last season. I think its because we have so much new talent. We have a very tough schedule, but its good that we do, because it will get us ready for the NCAA Tournament. I can’t wait to see how well Ed does this year. He was great last year, and I think he will be even better this year, but thats just my perception. I think our first couple of games will tell how the rest of or season goes. We have plenty of leaders on the team and people keep stepping up everyday.
So until next time, be safe and have fun

College Football 2007-10-07 17:45:20 Well, college football is well underway and some interesting things have happened so far. USC lost to Stanford. Stanford for those of you who don’t know, didn’t win a single game last year! The defending champion Florida Gators lost for the second week in a row, the first time since 2004 that they have lost two in a room. Notre Dame has won only one game. Michigan lost to Appalachain State. And Arkansas has proved that they can beat no one. They beat the University of Tennessee- Chattenooga 34-15 a game that they should have one by more. And LSU is ranked number 1.
While all this is going on, the most exciting time of the year for me is starting to happen. College
basketball. Next monday we start full team practices, as does everybody else in the country. That means that games are starting to get closer which I love. College basketball is the most exciting time of the year because the crowd is right on top of you every game, and if you lose one day you can come out the nex Read more:Football

Idols 2007-10-04 10:51:41 Everyone has their idols that they look up to in their life. This can be a celebrity, a professional athlete, a teacher, or a parent. Well, my happens to be one of those. Mine is my dad, Paul Charles Prousnitzer, or as everyone calls him, Chuck. My dad has always been there for me and is someone I have always looked up to. He is a great father, a great husband, a great business owner, but more importantly, a great person. My dad has always taught me to do my best and to never give up. This are the most important lessons I have ever and will ever learn. I have always stated that when I become a dad, I want to raise my children like he has my brothers and myself. He instilled an amazing work ethic in us. I have always held my dad in high regard, even if he doesn’t know, and while he and I may have fought over the years, we have always made up and have an amazingly strong relationship. I love my dad and always will. He is my idol, but most importantly my friend.

Professors 2007-10-23 11:00:52 So we all know that professors say some interesting things. Well, I have two this semester who say stuff that make me laugh all the time. One is Professor Curtis. He was talking about the slogan “Be Like Mike” and he turned to me and says “Let’s change it to ‘Be Like Gene.’” Its a great idea, becuase of course everybody wants to be like me, well except for most people. Haha! Professor Curtis is a teacher who never loses your attention. He keeps class so interesting, even though the class is at 8 in the morning. The other professor is Professor Zudeck, or Mr. Zoo. He says that he is believes in hair transplant and is even a donor.” This is because he doesn’t have a lot of hair. He will also repeatedly ask if anybody wants to drop the class after he explains an assignment.
Professor like these are the greatest becuase they always keep your attention and they make you want to show up to class becuase you want to hear what they have t
On Your Way Up 2007-10-24 16:37:03 I took some of my clothes to the dry cleaners yesterday and when I got my receipt, I looked at the bottom of it there was a quote that I saw I thought was great. “Be nice to the people you meet on the way up, because you meet them on your way down.”
I think that this is a very true quote. In most professions, its not what you know, its who you know. If you are nice to people when you are rising to the top, if/when you start falling, they will help you try to get back on your feet.
There are three people who since I have met has been nothing but nice to me. One is our head basketball coach, Coach Scott McMillin, the second is Assistant Coach Tim Heskett, and the third is the other Assistant Coach Marcus Hayes. These coaches are ones that I would do anything for because even though I’m only a sophomore this year and they were all Division I basketball players, they are very nice people and don’t feel they are better than anybody else. I have even seen Coach McMill
1st Game 2007-10-31 04:30:19 I can’t believe we are 3 days from playing our first game of the season. Our first game is against Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach. Last year, we beat Bethune in a good game and I think this year will be another good game. That game will be on Saturday November 3rd. Then on Monday, we have the honor of going to Gainsville to play the two-time defending champion University of Florida Gators. I can’t wait for this game because hopefully, I can meet Billy Donovan. I think he is a great coach and if I ever had the opportunity to pick his brain on coaching it would be such an honor. So
Then on November 15th we have our first non-Exhibition game against St. Thomas. That game will be at school. I have a new suit I bought this summer which I’m going to debut at this game.
But before all of this, November 1st is Hoop-La. Which is our version of Midnight Madness. At this, the fans will be given a preview of our team and the womens’ team as well as performances b
Scheduling Classes 2007-11-10 11:43:13 Well, its advising week here at Lynn, and I have been picking classes. Right now im planning on taking 18-21 credits. 12-15 are classes that I would take for my major and one class would be an elective. 6 credits are for my internship. 6 credits is equal to 300 hours of working, which will be easy for me to do, since with practice alone, I work 18 hours a week, then I have laundry which is an extra 2 hours every few days. Fall of 08 ill take the last three internship credits, which will be another 150 hours. The class I am most looking forward to is Front Office Operation. I think it will be interesting cause then I can learn what goes into running/working in the front office of a sports team.
My internship is going to be the job I currently do, Manager of the Men’s Basketball Team. Now, I’m getting credits toward graduation. Speaking of basketball, the first game is on Thursday at 7 in the DeHornle Cultrual Center against Saint Thomas, located in Miami. I hope everybody re Read more:Classes
LU vs. Florida/Bethune-Cookman 2007-11-07 14:54:56 This past weekend, the men’s basketball team played two games. The first game was on November 3th in Daytona Beach against the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman. The beginning of the game say the Knights come out a little flat, but they turned it around in the second half and won by 4 points. Ed Millard had an amazing game scoring 35 points.
The second game was on November 5th in Gainseville against the Florida
Gators. Coming out of the gates the Knights were confident and took a small lead but then the Gators came back and started to take control. The atmposhere was great. The fans were loud and constantly in the game. If our fans could come just close to this, the DeHornle Gym will be rocking and the opponent won’t know what to do.
The basketball knows what they have to do to turn it around and I believe we will and have a great season and be special. I hope that a lot of fans come to our games to witness just how special we will be.
Until next time, have a great day and GO K
1ST HOME GAME!!! 2007-11-15 10:05:13 Today is the 1st home game!! We play St. Thomas, an NAIA school in Miami. I’m trying to get as many people there as possible, so even if you don’t like basketball show up and support Lynn. This should be an exciting game and I think the guys are prepared enough to win, so we shall see. The coaches have put a lot of effort into getting the team ready. We have good players, so I think we will do just fine. Ed Millard averaged 20 points in two games against Division I opponents, while Randy Jones averaged 11 points. The game starts at 7pm tonight, so be there or be square! Haha, an oldy but a classic.
Schedule for 2nd Semester 2007-11-13 22:09:48 So today I met with my advisor, Professor Curtis, to schedule my classes for next semester. I have a great schedule. On Monday’s my first class is from 10-10:50 A.M. This is the classroom section of my internship. From 11-11:50, I have Fundamentals of Communications. On Tuesday and Thursday, I have Sports and Recreation Facilities from 8-915 A.M., Then Accounting from 9:30-10:45 A.M., then Organization Management in Amateur and Intercollegiate Sports from 11-12:15. My two sports classes are with Professor Curtis, who is a great teacher and makes things relate to what the students watch. Basketball practice will be later in the afternoon so I’ll have the early afternoon to relax or get stuff done.
Next semester will also be more fun in basketball because we will be playing games every week and then we will go to the post-season, which I hope we will go very far in.
Have a great day and see you on Thursday at 7 pm!!

Last Week 2007-11-26 23:01:51 Last week was one of mixed emotions for me. One Wensday the team played Puerto Rico Mayaguez. The team played very well. Hans Schur had a big scoring night, dropping 25 points, while Michael Baptiste had a huge night off the bench scoring 17 points and providing a much needed spark. Coach McMillin moved to 4-0 against Puerto Rico Mayaguez.
Thursday was Thanksgiving, as I’m sure you know. I started the day off with practice. Then afterwards, we as a team went to dinner at Legal Seafood, then after we got back to school, I went to my cousin’s grandmothers for another dinner. I had an amazing meal of turkey, this special cornbread, and sweet potatoes with marshmellows on top! After i left I didn’t think I could eat for days.
Friday we had a morning practice, then I watched the Arkansas-LSU game, or the Battle for the Golden Boot. It was an amazing game. Darren McFadden had a huge day, so did Peyton Hillis and Felix Jones. I screamed for joy so loud when Mattarel Richards
End of Semester 2007-12-05 00:43:45 Well, the year is just about half over and its been interesting.
I started the year off by getting to school early for Orientation Assistant. That was a lot of fun. I got to meet a lot of freshman, and have made long-term friendships with a lot of those.
Then came the start of classes. I had a great schedule filled with fun and interesting teachers.
Then came the start of basketball. Basketball has been great, except the fact that we have lost three straight, but I have a good feeling about Saturday against Eckerd. I have a personal rivalry against Eckerd, becuase my brother went there and before I visited the Lynn campus, I was pretty sure I was going to Eckerd.
This past weekend I was in Valdosta, Georgia for basketball and it reminded me of Arkansas. The leaves were the orange, yellow, and brown you see in the fall and everybody was so nice. The only downside was we lost both games.
On the day after Thanksgiving, Arkansas beat LSU in football. I was so happy, since this was the firs Read more:Semester
Staying on campus during Christmas Break 2007-12-14 01:26:22 Well, today everybody finished exams today and most people have left for a month, until next semester. However there are a few small groups that are staying on campus. The Conservatory of Music students are, as well as both Men’s and Women’s basketball teams are staying here. The men’s team is here until the 22nd, and we come back the 26th for practice. While the time we get with our families is short, it will be great. The one thing I learned from last year is that when your away from your family for a good while, you realize exactly how much you love them and miss them.
Tonight we had our first game over the break. We played at Palm Beach Atlantic. The game was a tight game the whole time and our whole team stepped up. Corey Lewis got his first Lynn career points, and had a couple of big boards. Greg Boxell came in off the bench and provided a huge spark, crashing the offensive boards and playing extremely hard. I was extremely proud of our whole team because if som Read more:Break

Conference Opener 2007-12-09 17:13:35 Well, its what I consider to be the third greatest time of the year, Conference time. The first two are the beginning of the season and post-season time, respectively. Last night was our conference opener. We played Eckerd College and won. I have a personal rivalry with Eckerd, since my brother went there and I almost went there.
The game was a back and forth game all night. The final score was 73-72. This is the fourth year in a row that we have won our conference opener. Michael Baptiste and Ed Millard provided the opening baskets for the Knights. After the game was tied 7-7, we went on an 11-2 run, but Eckerd responded with a 14-2 run. The score at half was 31-26.
Eckerd and us traded baskets to start the 2nd half, until we took the lead four minutes in on a Randy Jones three-pointer. We were up at one point 55-44, before Eckerd went on an 11-1 run. We traded shot for shot and point for point and hitting key free throws down the stretch. Luke Postorino hit 5 free throws, including 1 Read more:Opener
It’s Over 2008-03-10 02:04:25 Just a pre-note to this blog, I’m holding back tears while writing this.
I don’t want to believe it, but its over. We had a great season and thats what makes it hard for me. I can’t imagine going into practice and not seeing Hans being his goofy self, or Ed going just being Ed, or [...]
March Madness 2008-03-07 21:39:03 This weekend will determine if we continue our season, or if we get ready for next year. What a game! 2008-03-05 00:37:45 Well, Saturday we lost to Tampa, but since Rollins lost to Eckerd, and Florida Tech beat Saint Leo, we played Tech tonight in the first round of the conference tournament. We were the 5 seed and Tech was the 4, therefore they were the host team. The game started out in Tech’s favor. They shot [...]

tournament. And then Saturday we played Nova and won by 23. Then we found out that Rollins lost to Florida Southern, which helps us out because [...]

This Week 2008-02-12 01:30:06 This week we a chance to sweep two opponents, who swept us last year. Our first opponent is our main rival in Barry University. Barry is currently 6-17 overall and 0-11 in conference. Our last game against Barry into overtime and was sealed with a Chris Hall steal. I feel our team has taken many [...]
