One of those nights
2007-10-02 19:59:38
I am a little stressed tonight. I am trying to keep on top of everything but it can be harder than it looks sometimes. I thnk for the first time in a while, I am going to go to bed early. One day at a time. blah blah blah…. College moves every quickly. Just have to go with the flow. You get used to it after a while. I think thats why its so hard at first. New dance. New beat. Just have to feel it and keep on going. Like our embrassing parents say, shake your grove thang.

Just a little cranky
2007-10-02 19:44:03
Some days I don’t even know why I bother. I care about my friends but some days, they just make me cranky . My little bro is working on his college applications right now. Poor thing. I remember doing all that paperwork! I am trying to encourage him. Its all worth it in the end, although, I do remember a few times when I wanted to give up. I’m glad I didn’t though! I need a nap or something.  And I am starting to think freshmen 15 is a lie. Unless I am supposed to lose 15 pounds. *shrugs* I am not sure what is going on around here, but I sure am not gaining any weight!

Don’t upset the Professor
2007-10-02 16:34:50
I am not going to name names or even say which class this happened in but college is not always 120% amazing. I am still pissed off that some girl in my class had the nerve to say to my professor in one of my classes that she had not learned anything in his class from day one. The professor lost his mind. He started turning red. The rest of the class was tense to say the least. By the end of the class, there were angry people who were seriously pissed off at that one person. Why in the world would you insult your professor in his classroom in the middle of class??? WHY? And to be so rude about it. Just drop the damn class! Cristina and I just looked at each other his disgust. We pretty much yelled out our thoughts on the class the moment we walked out the door. The professor had started turning red. Freshmen 101 tip: Wait to talk to your professor at the end of class if you have any problems with them or the way they teach. Do not be the girl that every one hates because you desided to

Sigma Pride
2007-10-01 14:30:18
We made shirts at the Sigma sleep over. Here are the cool ones. And mine! Oh and this other one. I don’t know who did it but I like it. We also played a game where we had to guess what character or famous person we had on our back. I was Peter Pan. I would have been happier with Tinkerbell but hey… we desided to make a dance called Peter Pan and have a part in it called the Tinkerbell. Lol. I’ve got to love my Sisters. They can make anything fun.

Another reason to hate Alarm Clocks
2007-09-30 17:23:58
Besides being evil… joking. While I was act my sigma sleep over last night, my alarm clock desided it missed me this morning and went off… for hours… waking up my entire floor. So now, not only do I hate that damn blasted thing, the whole 20’s wing hates it as well. I have no clue where Gabby was since she apparently was not awaken by it. She must have been at her condo or some friends room for I do not believe anyone could possibly sleep through that. The girls next door sure didn’t and made sure that I knew too! They called Sonya and security to get some one to turn that thing off but since no one was home, Sonya and security could not enter our room. I find it sad that I can work a computer, figure out long math problems, write papers relating to Plato and I can not figure out how to work an alarm clock! I think its sent from some deep, dark, evil pit in hell.

Sigma Sleep Over
2007-09-30 16:20:55
This blog is mostly for my Sigma Sisters. To my sisters, We have a bond that we choose every day to keep strong. I love each and every one of you so deeply even though its been a short amount of time. I can’t even picture where this love and friendship will lead me to in four years to come. We share the pain of a fellow sister as easily as we share the laughter. I might have joined for all the wrong reasons but I found all the right reasons to stay. There may have been problems last year, but this is a new year, with new sisters. After last night, I have all the confidence in the world to say that Tri Sigma will be stronger than ever. I saw strong women sitting in a room, side by side, with love last night. We all come from diffrent backgrounds and may have moments in time that still haunt us, but I know that we are always going to be there for each other. It seems no matter what happened in the past, we still love each other as one big happy family. We smile and joke together, w

Emporium Lounge
2007-09-30 15:20:36
I wanted to go out dancing so I thought I would check out the Emporium Lounge where my roomate Gabby works. What can I say? The girl has good taste in clothes and in job locations! The club was wonderful. It looks great, nice prices, only the best music was played by the DJ, and the barterners were total hotties! I danced for a few hours and headed home where I got lost for an hour. lol. I can’t wait to go back again! I had a lot of fun and it was great to just have a place where I didn’t run into all my classmates. Although, I did run into about 3 or 4. It is a great place, and I look forward to spending many more nights there.

Rubber Bowl
2007-09-30 15:04:16
Sex ed anyone? lol. We had rubber bowl which was a bunch of fun and educational. Ok, warning, I can not type today! I’m half  asleep but want to get this all out so sorry! I was starting to think the goal of rubber bowl was to try and avoid the condoms flying at your eyes. No no, it wasn’t all that bad. Sigma Sigma Sigma and ZBT worked together to make rubber bowl a wonderful program to inform students about safe sex and how to put condoms on bananas and your arm. lol. Being a part of Tri Sigma, I had to help some of the girls smuggle the banana’s from the caf… lol. That was fun. I thought one of the guys was going to jump from behind the counter and chase me. And the age old question of “Are they lubercated or not?” was  answered for some one… you know who you are! lol. Frankly, the whole sorority was joking about that the whole night. Hey, we are sisters, and we love each other. We are allowed to pick on each other. One of the guys team w

Yup, class out side today!
2007-09-28 14:19:52
Professor De La Ysla was shooing us out of the stuffy room as she told us “See we do have class es outside just like on the brochure.” We sat under the tent by the “dinning hall” aka the caf. It was cool. We did some reading and talked about our topics for our next paper which was cool. Some how we got on the topic of Iraq and people commented about how the felt and if they had family or friends over there. The weather was nice. A little hot but hey, it was nice to not be locked up in a classroom! Today seemed more like  a day to make sure we were all caught up in class. It was very laid back which was a nice change. There was no pressure to read out loud or the stress of being creative on paper.

Bathrooms? check. Noise? no.
2007-10-14 11:11:56
I fought the battle of the gross bathrooms. It seems to have worked… for now. I don’t have that much faith in my floor. You see, some girls and boys, I rather not call them men and women for men and women know how to act, think its ok to run up and down our floor at ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT screaming random stuff while others try and sleep. They scream and laugh extreemly loudly in the bathroom which carries to the halls and into peoples rooms. Now I know some of the people that do it, and I haven’t said anything. My concern was the bathroom. Next month, noise control. We have quiet hours for a f***ing reason people! Some of us are trying to study, sleep, meditate, talk on the phone with family and friends, work on homework, and did I mention SLEEP????? Ok so you are drunk, we know, now just get to your damn room and zip it! Just because no one says anything to you doesn’t mean everyone doesn’t know its you and talks behind your back about it. Not only ar

The Lynn Philharmonia Orchestra
2007-10-14 10:54:35
I went to their concert last night. It was beautiful. I went by myself which I am kind of happy about. I got to close my eyes and just listen to the music. The concert was sold out. People were standing in the back! A nice lady called me over to an empty seat next to her. I was way in the back but I was happy to be sitting. I was amazed that students my age could put on a concert that beautiful. The music was powerful. They all worked together. There was never a mistake the excaped. A little note to them I guess: You guys did a wonderful job. Be very proud of yourselves. I wish I had your talent, skill, and grace with music. Waching the Orchestra play made me cry, smile, and get lost in a passion for every note that you guys played. Thank you. The world needs more beauty. Although, I felt like the youngest person there, I do believe I was the one person most blown away since every one else seemed to have seen the orchestra preform before. I look forward to the next concert. I encourage

Alcohol and colleges
2007-10-14 10:37:13
So the long week ends! Not just for the fact that there were tons of homework assignments that needed to be done, but the pictures, facts, handouts, and who knows what, have stopped! Try going to lunch last week, and chances are you were attacked by some one warning the dangers of alcohol. There were pictures lined up to remind a person of all the reasons why they should not drink. A beautiful woman was… well she went through a lot and the picture showed it very clearly. There were plenty of guest speakers. I have already mentioned that I would like to thank Tina for speaking. The fact is, do not drink and drive. I warned my friends that they shouldn’t get in a car with some one drunk. Most of them don’t drink, or the ones that do can’t drive. Frankly, I don’t care of that person had a sip, don’t get in the car with them. See, I don’t drink. Period.  So I am always the one getting people home, one way or another. I’ve shoved people

Paper… friend or foe?
2007-10-12 11:10:37
Ahhh paper. Such an innocent, simple, object, right? Wrong! lol. Besides turning it into a huge snowball looking thing or birds, people write on paper. Some even print on paper, and what they print on that paper can invoke fear or happiness. Lets takes for instance, school news letters. Now I encourage all of you guys out there to grab a few while you walk by the many stands of flyers around the school. While studying for my bio test today in the Knights Court, I grabbed a few, plus todays Ipulse, and learned a ton about what was going on around the school in the coming days (and months… we like to plan ahead it seems!) Grab a hand out every once in a while. There are tons of programs, projects, shows, concerts, all kinds of stuff going on all the time here. I would find it hard to say that nothing happens at Lynn. I read in the Ipulse today that the Philharmonia Orchestra at Lynn is having its first concert this weekend. I being a band geek, really would love to go and see this

A long week
2007-10-11 20:29:06
Its been a long week and its not even over yet! I still have to live through tomorrow! Great, another 24 hours keeping me away from my weekend of sleep. Today, my floor had a meeting about how to keep the bathroom clean. My RA is right about one thing, we are 18 years old, we should be able to keep the bathroom clean. The boys bathroom is cleaner than ours. How… embrassing! Ugh. I hate going in there because it is so gross. Much needed meeting. Tomorrow is going to be the end of Alcohol week at Lynn  and colleges all across the US. I plan to write a whole review about it tomorrow evening, but before that, I would like to thank Tina for sharing her story. It ment a lot to a lot of people.

Dancing in my PJ’s
2007-10-09 21:58:15
My favorite way to get rid of stress, dancing! lol. I am dancing around my dorm room in my PJ’s since my roomate is not home while working on my English homework. I am blasting my music in my room and no one around me has started to complain… sweet!

First Midterm
2007-10-08 09:37:03
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! My first midterm. What a horrible word, midterm. It strikes fear into freshmen students. Its a horrible thought all in itself. I thought it was going to be a lot harder and extreemly stressful but it wasn’t so bad since it was Sociology and my professor is really cool. She even noticed that I got a hair cut. The first person. Cool. She tried hard to give us the answers. I think the next step would have been her taking the test for all of us. lol. A lot of us gathered after the test to talk outside of the class. I don’t think I did to badly on it. Now onto my other classes. Oh boy! I am so not looking forward to the Biology test this week! Freshmen 101 tip: STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! It is as simple as that. How much energy you put into your work is what your grade reflexs in the end.

Blingo!
2007-10-07 21:04:24
I went to Blingo tonight because my friends were going. It was a ton of fun and I like hanging out with Cristina’s friends. They are funny, sweet, and know what they want! I had a ton of fun which totally rocked since I needed that after the ton of homework I had rushed to do. I won and of course I pick something that is so not me. There were people screaming and I wasn’t sure what to do. I just grabbed the biggest bag which had a Juicy handbag in it. Its pink. It looks like something that should be on my roomates side of the room not mine. Oh well, I guess its mine now.

Two girls, a guy, and a hair cut
2007-10-07 18:25:21
Cristina, Rob, and I all got hair cuts today. We look so cute! lol. Cristina and I dropped off Rob to meet up with some family and then Cristina and I went to get something to eat. It was great. Lol. I was hungry! Hmm…  I should get the three of us together so we can take a picture. Blingo tonight! It looks like a ton of fun! I saw some of my sisters picking stuff out for the event tonight! Lynn rocks when it comes to school events. Freshmen 101 tip: Take care of yourself! Ya it sounds stupid, why wouldn’t you take care of yourself? Trust me, it gets crazy around here. So much is going on and I want to keep on top of all my work. Two days ago I forget to brush my hair and just ran to class with some sort of very bad ponytail. Ick! It was horrible! Remember: Eat, sleep, do homework,  and enjoy life! You are only young once, so F*** it up right!

What ever happened to class?
2007-10-18 19:31:32
My class es have started to be canceled a lot this week. Suddenly teachers are all sick or have to leave for the day so class gets canceled. What ever happened to class? I thought the students were supposed to ditch! lol. Even Cristina’s class was canceled today. …. Not that I’m complaining…  Freshmen 101 tip: Classes may be canceled for all kinds of reasons. Celebrate them. Go to lunch early, take a long needed nap, call friends, or if you are sexy nerd like Cristina, do homework. Joking! No she does not do homework when class is canceled. We grab Rob and go to the movies. Haha.

I love my job
2007-10-18 19:28:06
Simple as that, I love my job. The kids are great and its so much fun being able to act like a 6 year old again. Yestorday I asked the girls to pretend to do ballet to show them how to kick the ball. Today, I had little boys who were energetic and happy to learn everything I through at them. Sometimes the coach can be a pain to work with, but others are wonderful.I’m mostly in it for the kids since they allow me to have so much fun. I can take two hours off from being a college student and go into a pretend world where I can just have fun teaching kids how to play a sport I love.  Plus, I get to work with my friends! We go to work together every night. What more could I ask for? Cristina didn’t come tonight because her dad is in town for Parents weekend. She’s been looking forward to this for days. I don’t blame her. I have secretly been looking forward to parent weekend. I’m looking forward to slowly meeting her family, she talks about them all the time!

Getting ready for work
2007-10-17 15:36:15
I’m getting ready for work, where I have to keep track of a bunch of kids, plus keep them active. This should get my mind off of today. I hope…. Just…  AHHHHHHH! There are so many things on my mind, and I really would like to rip some one a new one, but hey, can’t do that. I wonder if I can ask Ashlea to pull my interview? I really don’t even feel confortable having it in Ipulse at this point. I feel that it would be unfair to her and mean, which is the only reason why I am letting it run, but due to this whole thing with the Editor in Chief, if it wasn’t Ashlea, I would ask the person to pull it. I just want no part of it.

Greek Pride Day!
2007-10-17 13:45:24
Today is Greek Pride Day! For the first part of the day I was in a Lynn shirt for I had an interview thing about the blogs for the Ipulse. Now I am wearing my Rubber Bowl shirt. I got my sexy letters on! Tri Sigma rocks! It was cool to see my sisters all together in their letters. Very nice. Horrible picture but hey, I got my letters on!

The negative side to blogging
2007-10-17 13:17:03
To start off, I back my fellow school bloggers 100%. Apparently the Editor in Chief of the Ipulse got their feelings hurt and decided to attack the blogs and bloggers who write them. Since this person decided to attack us, I feel I should say something. We are a small few who write about different topics about Lynn. If one of us has some sort of idea, maybe a small portion of the school feels the same way? If the Editor in Chief has read my blog over the past few weeks, they would see that I write about what others comment on that can be changed at Lynn. Newspapers around the world get attacked every day. As a writer, I would have thought that an editor would have loved some advice about how to improve on the paper that they take so much pride in. In English 101, criticism is supposed to be welcomed to improve on one’s work. Yes, it may hurt, but the person giving the advice is just helping the writer see where things could be improved. They only want to see the work perform to

Simple joys of college
2007-10-17 00:06:00
My English class for today is canceled due to my professor not feeling well. Yestorday I had a class canceled due to my professor having minor surgery. College rocks! No subs! haha. Two days in a row I get to have my afternoons to myself. Now I can get some work done before work! Parents weekend is around the corner! Being sick all of yestorday, I kept calling my mom. I think Cristina wanted to throw a pillow at me since when I was leaving her room I told her I was going to call my mommy. lol. And don’t get sick around Cristina! Her maternal skills pop out of no where and she starts mothering me like crazy. She kept calling to see if I was ok and if I needed anything. Ok, its really late… or really early. *makes a face* what ever! I should be sleeping!

Over worked myself
2007-10-16 13:41:28
Yestorday I over worked myself sick. Today I just woke up feeling horrible. I guess thats what I get for trying to do everything in one day.  I have no clue what the school nurse gave me, but its making me feel half better. I felt like I got hit with a truck this morning, and then given some horrible virus created in some evil scientist’s lab. Freshmen 101 tip: No matter how much you think you rule the world, your body will be happy to remind you that you need to take care of yourself first. Simple rules, eat, sleep, drink tons of water, don’t stress over the little stuff, etc. College is full of fun, crazy, and new things to do every day, but that doesn’t mean you have to do all of them right away.  Now I am going to crawl back under my covers and engrave this into memory of why I shouldn’t over work myself.

The Top 10 Freshman Goof-ups
2007-10-23 15:01:04
The article, The Top 10 Freshman Goof-ups, and How You Can Avoid Making Them has just been brought to my attention by Jena. I love it! I am/ was two of the ten types. It is very true and I saw myself in it. Its short, and funny. I advise everyone to read it, even if they aren’t a freshmen. It might just allow you to laugh at yourself. I was and still am (only slightly) numbers one and two. I guess you guys are going to have to read it to find out which ones they are! Freshmen 101 tip: Not really a tip, more like a command for all Lynn Freshmen at the momment, read it and laugh at yourself! We all need to take a 5 to 10 minute break. Laughter is good for the soul.

So I got up…
2007-10-23 14:44:45
As simple as the action may sound, it was really hard! I had to drag myself out of bed and force myself to change into something half decent for class. I’m glad I got up. Math was kind of fun today. Maybe it was because for the first time ever, I was fully paying attention! My sisters have been supportive, which is great. Michelle is wonderful. She’s sick and she still took the time to see how I was. Shannan wasn’t in math last class, so I lent her my notes to look over for the first few minutes of class. What are sisters for? I met up with Cristina who was happy to give me her insight on the matter, and of course was supportive by bashing him in all the ways good friends seem to know how to do. Now, by the end of lunch, things got a little… intersting. I was thinking it was not the best time to bring out the feminist talk in philosophy. Oh well, but the end of it all, it wasn’t so bad. It turned out pretty funny, since well, its Lynn and we are so open m

Not getting out of bed
2007-10-23 08:19:17
Today is a day I do not want to get out of bed. I had a rough night. Oh well, I have classes today and work to do, so I am just going to suck it up and take it like a man. See the thing is, I had made it 18 years without being dumped before. At 2am this morning, that all changed. I guess college is full of a lot of firsts, but this one, I am not enjoying and would rather like to be under 3 layers of blankets for the rest of the day.
