A great book for freshmen

The Naked Roommate: And 107 Other Issues You Might Run Into in College. Ok so I might have stole this idea from one of my fellow bloggers, but I thought she had a good point about bringing it up. Rob has this book in his room and he is always glad to inform me that it has useful information. Maybe I should borrow his copy for a day or two? I’m now a little more interested in it, its not just one of the random books left in a corner. I remember reading a book about two years ago called Dorm Sweet Dorm which was pretty good. There are a lot of great books out there that gives future college students a helpful hand. I read as much as I could about college before I got here, although, there is nothing like living it! Freshmen 101 tip: Grab a book! They come in handy every once in a while. Learn how to deal with crazy roomates, messy bathrooms, professors who think that they are your only class, friends and sleep. College is a lot of fun, but it’s not always easy.

Oh my gosh, it was so great to see my mom tonight! Thank goodness for Parent Weekend! I am so happy! I have had a stressful week and just seeing my mom and being able to hug her was great. Plus, we went to dinner, so good food. Score! Tomorrow is the last home game for the men’s soccer. I really want to go see it. I am really proud of the guys since I know they work hard, and the four soccer players I know are great. Good luck guys! So families are in town to see us college students who are home sick. I didn’t realize how much I missed having my mom around until I saw her. I was like few! Allergic to Rain

Class is a little empty today. I think we are allergic to rain at Lynn. Although, we live in Florida and it rains every fricken day. I mean, its always lovely here. It rains a lot. We survived 2 days without rain and then today, boom! Rain.

I fell asleep for a few hours and when I woke up, I turned on the lights and went about my business. I suddenly stopped and was like, no, it can’t be, and as I grabbed a shoe, my mind was not eased. It was, a cockroach. As I’m killing it with my sneaker (that I shook first to see if anything was inside) I only had one thought in my head, Gabby is going to kill me. My roomate has already warned me about roaches. I can already see the look on her face when she gets home and I explain it to her. This is not going to be good. Second thought that went through my head, call Cristina! She knows how to clean and organize and all that fun stuff. Plus, she’s going to scream when she see’s the pile of dirty clothes. I don’t want to sleep in here. I really hope that was a fluke and the only one… and it wasn’t female and laid any eggs. *gags*

Aqua and 12 year olds

Cristina called me last night asking if I wanted to go to a club with her and Toni. I was  like sure, why not? We some how figured out how to get to Aqua and had ton of fun, besides the fact that some random guys would come around a grab our behinds, but hey, its a club, and I still had fun. A lot of Lynn students I know where there. I know parents across the  globe are now freaking out, clubing… on a school night? Oh my gosh! Well, we make it work. I wanted to have a little fun, although I am extreemly tired today, to me, it was worth it.  I also found out at work yestorday, that another coach from Lynn found 12 year olds in the bathroom doing cocaine. Oh my gosh, the kids were in like what, 6th grade? Shouldn’t they be having sleep overs or something? We were at a comunity field about a 5 minute drive away from Lynn. Freak Fest

Black Student Union held a Halloween party called Freak Fest. There was live music and poetry reading. It was a lot of fun, for the people who showed up. More than half of BSU didn’t even show up which was insulting all on its own. (If anyone wants to get music from that night, talk to Sam, maybe he can hook you up with the CD Street Music.) The few of us that were there had a lot of fun and some were even dressed up. The food went to fast, it was almost as if it was never even there. I’m guessing we should have ordered more then. Oh well. I was having a hard time trying to enjoy myself since Cristina kept calling me every 5 minutes which was very distracting. She needed to talk to me, but I had work to do which was making it really hard to do by answering my phone very few minutes while trying to juggle wooden chairs. Dressed up for Aqua

Toni, Cristina, and I went to Aqua dressed up for Halloween (it was the night before, which turned into the morning of…lol) One of my sisters has a picture of us. I think its Lee… (hmm…) There were tons of Lynn students there having a ton of fun. I had a lot of fun. The three of us danced together all night long. On a side note, if anyone knows the guy who was dressed up an a suit with a sign reading “war vet, needs drink” please contact me. Thank you. I think one of my friends from Kuwait had a good time. (Although, he seems to be having a hard time remembering it) Its kind of strange partying with my classmates. Its like wow, they are partying and dancing and being silly, then I go to class and they are serious. Anyway, I had fun dancing, on a school night, again. I was Medusa if anyone wants to know. I got a piece of glass stuck in my foot though….

Tuesday’s aren’t for Maria

It seems every tuesday at work, something happens to Maria which makes her want to cry. Lol. Two weeks ago, a 7 year old was almost as tall as she is and tried to confort her by telling her that she will grow. This tuesday, well, apparently, I was standing too close, because some if it brushed off on me. This mom walks up to us and was like “so do you guys have kids on the team?” Lord, I do not think anyone would have believed the faces we made. We started explaining that we were coaches. We help out and train the kids. That and that we are only 18 and 21. We are not old enough to have 8 year olds. I’m not sure if I should be kind of happy or extreemly insulted.

No clean clothes

I gave all my clothes to the Campus Suds people. Now the only shirts I have are Tri Sigma shirts. Hahaha. Oh well! I will be showing my greek pride all week then! Freshmen 101 tip: WASH CLOTHES! Its funny how the lack of clothes will sneak up on you. (seriously, I have no clean clothes until thursday.)


Live by the syllabus, die by the… wait what?

The first few days of college, professors try and scare you into think that if you lose your syllabus, you are pretty much screwed. For the first month, it will be your life for that class. It explains everything&hellip ; until… the class gets mixed up, professors get loaded up, people miss a lot of class, and suddenly, the book of life for that class starts to get changed. Classes start to fall behind on the syllabus or get ahead. Its just life. Don’t be fulled, yes you may spend a lot of your time living by a piece of paper, just don’t let it dictate your life. The syllabus can be changed, and will be changed through out the course. It is not the law of the class, its more like guidelines for the course, or wishful thinking for some professors. Sometimes professors will be so lost, students have to remind them of where the class is supposed to be. At this point, I have pretty much almost thrown out my English one for it is almost of no use to me. My math syllabus is


A little venting goes a long way

It seems a lot of people I know are now single. Few, I thought it was just me. I talk to a lot of girls and it seems that their number one complaint is that they want a guy that is there for them. A guy that listens, or at least takes 10 minutes out of their day to pretend to listen. (Hint: Guys, master the nad and agree look) A guy who brings a girl flowers just because. College break ups can be hard. Its like “I hate you, I never want to see you again. Blah blah blah…” then you end up seeing them at dinner, in the hall, in class, washing clothes. Becareful with college relationships, you still have to live near this person, go to school with this person, and eat in the same place. Today I felt like a five year old today. It sucked. I know how to use the library. I know where to find books. If I had a problem, I would ask. I felt like lab today was turning me into a little kid and treating me like I was one very slow little kid. Bored out of my mind

Oh my gosh, that about covers it. No one wants to be in English lab today. We are horrible students in the fact that we sand out side and pray for us to not have class all day. I have stuff today and so I am not in the mood to have an extra class. *gets handout and mumbles* I’m getting back to my list of stuff to do today. Crud, now I have to call Sam to find about BSU Freak Fest. He’s been so busy that its hard to track him down and get 100% of all my questions answered. GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!! I think I speak for most of the class when we say, RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!! After what? Nine weeks, we are still not sure what the heck English lab is for. I see it as 50 minutes of my life that I can not get back and that I could be crossing off the 15 diffrent things I need done.

Monday’s are the worse

I can not stand monday’s. Its bad enough I have to get up, but now I have go to an extra class, go to work, have Tri Sigma meetings. Just…. aaahhhhh! Monday ’s are stressful. By tuesday, I have worked myself sick. My body tells me on Tuesday to slow down by being sick and extreemly slow.

They are for giving you a heart attack. I was working on some homework when I got a phone call from Cristina saying she was in a lot of pain and had just walked out of a class to go to the nurses office. I jump up, grab my keys, and run down stairs. I stop to think for a second as I pass my English professors office to tell her I might not be in class today. Some young woman was there and I told her I might not be in class. So I go back to my running to the nurses office. Apparently I beat her there and was looking stupid panting around a small room with no Cristina. I rush out and call her. She doesn’t answer which only makes me worry like crazy. Then she pops out of know where. We walk into the nurses office and Cristina fills out the form. I really wanted to talk to the professor, I wasn’t sure about the random woman I had never seen before. I tell Cristina I will be back in a few minutes. Well  I talk to my English professor and explain to her how Cristina loves giving


Brothers and Sisters

ZBT had a BBQ today by the pool. A lot of my sisters showed up which was great. Now that we are now all sisters until death, we have been giggling a lot. So yes, free food, cooked by ZBT, music, and laughter heard all around school. Lots of pushing people into the pool. Sisters and brothers partying together. Friends being crazy and tossing each other into the pool with clothes on. Poor Tully got his phone wet, now its on its way to cellphone heaven. Tri Sigma and ZBT rock!

Breakfast with Toni

Since my biology class was canceled for today, I went for breakfast in the caf. Hot food. Real food. Yes! No stupid breakfast bars. I ran into one of my sisters, Toni. We sat and talked about college, friends, and of course, boys. It felt like hours when it really wasn’t more than one. Tonight is a big night for Sigma Sigma Sigma girls. I’m totally excited. Snapped pencils

I now know why I do not use wooden pencils. I would snap them all in half in one day. I know what Mike B. was talking about in Sociology class the other day. One of the hot IT guys walked by me the other day and I realized I was bending the plastic pencil in my hand. Then there are just some seriously hot guys that walk around campus with no shirts on. Or some who dress up really nicely for some school events. Now all I hear in my head is “snap.” That would be another pencil lost to many. I was asked if I take my own advice about picking up guys that I put in my blog. I found the question funny. At the time when I was writing that stuff, I was in a relationship. Maybe I should go back a few blog entires and check out my words of wisdom?


Glass in my foot

I still had that piece of glass stuck in my foot from my night at Aqua earlier in the week. I went to the nurse at school who sent me to some clinic, who sent me to a pediatrist. OK seriously, a doctor who works with free, and only free, freaky anyone???? In the short run, he took a scalpel to my foot and got it out. It seriously hurt, but I didn’t want him sticking a huge needle in my foot since I was driving. He got it out, and it now feels so much better. Now all I have to do is keep it clean. My mother mumbled something about me finding new ways to scare her. lol. I might have opened with, “Mom, I’m on my way to the hospital to some glass out of my foot.” Maria called me seeing if I was going to work today, I told her I was on my way to get glass taken out of my foot, all I got was “You’re excused.” Man, I laughed so hard. I got seriously lost on I95 on my way home and my mom, in Washington DC, was on mapquest telling how to get home. lol.

Since all my friends are who knows where, I am sleeping! Yes! I took a four hour nap yestorday… because I could. Today I am going to stay in bed as long as possible… because I can. College students are like new born babies. We cherish three things, good food, sleep, and our own bathroom.

A good night at work

Last night, I was coaching like normal when one of the kids ran up to me after he had gotten some water from his short water break. He raps himself around my legs and looks up at me with these big eyes and says “You are the best coach I have ever had.” I was like aww. The kid was like 7 or 8. I thought that was so cute. I went on working and making sure the kids were having fun. At the end of the practice, the kid runs back to me and raps himself around my legs again. He looks up at me with those big eyes and says ” I love you.” He had a huge smile on his face. I asked him if he had fun. “Yes, I had a lot of fun.” He nads his head right into my leg which I thought was funny. I told him to get some water and go to bed early. He said ok and ran off saying good night like five times. It was so cute. I apparently got the good kids last night. I had so much fun with them. They are all so cute. Cristina’s mom and sister

I had to give money to Marti for Tri Sigma and Cristina was nice enough to come with me. Well on the way back, I was shooed away so she could go and wait for her mom and sister . They flew into town for the day because tomorrow they are flying home for a wedding, anyway, so I went go to check my mailbox. Nothing. No one loves me, WAAAHHHH. Lol.So my mailbox was empty, and I was walking back to my room, but I didn’t get far. I see a woman and young girl. After a second or two, I realize that they are who Cristina has been waiting for for so long. I dig out my cell phone and call her. “I see your mom and your sister.” “What?! Where?!?!?!” I wave to her sister who walks toward me, and her mom is saying somethinig about me being Morgan. “Make them run!” “Woman! My bank account got hacked

I was just trying to download a TV show from Itunes when it kept telling me the that the zip code was wrong. I was like what the, no its not, stupid Itunes. Well thank goodness for Itunes or I would have found out way to late that my account has be hacked! I am so upset, but thankful that I can do something about it tomorrow morning. Its got some crazy address in it. I want to know how this happened and I want it fixed right away. I called my mother and told her, we ended up yelling at each other about who knows what. We just were grouchy and arguing a lot. I am now thankful for my school account. When I got it, i was like, I already have an account, this is stupid. I don’t need another one. Well lookie here! It comes in handy! My school account is all nice and safe right now. It totally freaked me out of my mind at first. Why was my address some crazy address? It’s cold out there

It rained today, and well, I am still warming up from it! I am all rapped  up in my covers to keep warm. I my whole English class was soaking wet today from the rain. I just hope none of us get sick from it. The floor was covered in puddles of water that it became to dangerous to walk around the room.


Locked out

I hate mondays. Seriously. I am locked out. I was rushing this morning, running late, finding the trash bags and I forgot my keys. Now I am locked out. I am cranky, and locked out. Gabrielle is still MIA and so I have no clue if she’s going to classes today. I hope so, maybe she can bring me my keys, or allow me to borrow hers to just get mine. Err. I just hate the idea of being locked out!

100th post

This is my 100th post! Cool. So what have I learned? College is just like high school in many ways. Jocks kind of stuck together, Greeks stick together, etc, but in the end, since everyone is so much of a blend of many groups, we all end up crossing paths at some point. Stupid school fights still happen. Middle school drama is common. We still complain about the caf food and our feelings have not changed about homework. You never have to tell a college student twice to relax and enjoy a break twice. We hardly ever sleep, we live by coffee (Starbucks makes a killing off of college students.) College is full of friends that later become family. Professors are cooler than ever. Its cool to hang with your professor at Christines while having tutoring with them. (They seem to have more of a life than high school teachers.) It is still about fancy toys for some people. Dating is a sport for some people like in high school. Although, I find school spirit a lot stronger in college than in high


Very confused

I just got this email on my Lynn email account, and now I am very confused ! My brain is getting mixed signals! I still have a test today and an English class to go to, but it says that there are no classes! Is anyone else confused??? There are no classes this week. Classes resume Monday Nov 26. I thought I had class today but I found out that it was library day and we all turned around and went to breakfast. Half the class is in here having breakfast. Oh well, I better get moving. I have to study for my biology test in an hour!
