Ryeo-won has been named a PR ambassador of Overseas Koreans
Day, which has been designated as Oct. 5.
The Foreign Ministry designated the day to bolster unity among overseas Koreans.
Chung spent her school years in Australia and was a member of the girl band Chakra. Recently, she created an image of an upbeat and cheerful person through her role in the movie “Two Faces of My Girlfriend.”
The actress will launch her activities as the PR ambassador on Oct. 1 after receiving her appointment at the Foreign Ministry. A ministry official said the number of overseas Koreans currently reaches some seven million and that Chung will act as their representative.

with the announcement of a new anime theme song. Titled Scratch Of The Heart, the song will be used as a theme to the anime spin-off of online 2D side-scrolling RPG Maple Story. Here is a fresh sports article. Leading Korean female weightlifter Jang Mi-ran has won this year’s world women’s championship,capturing her third consecutive title. Yea its crazy shes a girl, oh I mean winning 3 straight titles of course. Sheesh lay off the soy.
Competing in the female over-75 kilogram class in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Jang lifted a total of 319 kilograms in a combination of the snatch and the clean-and-jerk.
Although she tied her Chinese rival Mu Shuangshuang, the South Korean took the top spot because she weighed less than her opponent.
The 23-year-old Jang also won a gold medal in the snatch with the lift of 181 kilograms.

Hwayobi’s comeback is due next January. I guess she has been on a 2 years recess taking a break and had surgery last month. She is resting at home after surgery on a vocal cord cystoma. Her throat condition has drastically improved recently and the hospital gave her its release to sing, although not too excessively.
An official at her management said, “The surgery went well and she will be able to sing after a month’s rest. She is continuously receiving songs. She could start recording her sixth album as early as November for a full comeback in January.” source: KBS Global

Actress and singer Bae Seul-ki is making headlines with her new album entitled ‘Flying.’
Bang Si-hyuk, the music producer for superstar Rain, and Yoon Jong-shin, a singer and songwriter who wrote the song ‘On the Street’ for Sung Si-kyung, have come together to take in Bae’s album-making process. Other renowned musicians such as Cho Kyu-chan, Nam Ki-sang and Huh Jae-hyuk have also written songs for Bae’s second studio album.
The title song of the album, ‘Seulki Say’, which was composed by Bang, features a strong hip hop beat. Bae is currently working hard on the choreography of this song.

Singer Tim is to make a comeback with his fourth album after a year-and-a-half hiatus. What the hell has he been up to?
Tim will release his new album entitled “Love Is” on Oct. 24. It contains 12 tracks including lyrical ballads and upbeat pop songs. Same crap hes done before.
The album also features singer Sohn Ho-young and famous saxophonist Danny Chung. The songs were written by Kim Young-hoo, who also writes for BoA, TVXQ, Hwi-sung and Lee Seung-chul, as well as James Jones, a member of the U.S. R&B band All 4 One.
Tim’s agency said the singer’s fourth album stands apart for its heart-moving lyrics and lyrical melodies, and differs from Tim’s previous music, in part because singer Hwi-sung also participated in the songwriting.
Tim will make a comeback late this month and will appear on various shows.

This was an important concert, being the first in Taiwan
and the Anti-War theme. DBSK knew they were going to be doing a concert in the rain and decided they still wanted to do it. They rehearsed at 10:30am!(dedicated for sure), and during the concert hats were flying around, and the singers were slipping. That just made the fans go crazy. However before the concert ended, they announced the second concert in Taipei was canceled, due to safety reasons and uhh iunoo a TYPHOON. The news channel will for nine days (Oct. 13-21) highlight Korea’s global content and its status in the world. The two will appear on the CNN talk show <Talk Asia>.
The program’s PR official said, “Jang and Jeon have finished recording. They talked about their international recognition and future plans.”

Korea. Lee visited the inter-Korean industrial complex in the North Korean city of Kaesong on Oct. 16.
Lee attended a ceremony marking the completion of construction of the first phase of an industrial zone in the complex overseen by the Korea Land Corporation.
As a representative of young South Korean women, Lee visited the area along with Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung, Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun and lawmaker Park Jin. ’ (Minister’s Award) from the Ministry Culture and Tourism. Meanwhile, actress Goh Doo-shim and actor Kim Sung-hwan will receive the Okgwan Cultural Medal of Honor and the Hwagwan Cultural Medal of Honor, respectively.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently selected and announced the recipients for the 2007 Cultural Medal of Honor as well as the 2007 Young Contemporary Artist Award.
BoA, the recipient of this year’s young contemporary artist award, which goes out to artists in their 20s and 30s, is being recognized by the government for her accomplishments in both South Korea and Japan.

The drama will air simultaneously in Korea, China, Europe and Latin America. It’s a story about two people who both have mysterious dreams and meet by coincidence at the airport on their way to China. Afterwards, they try to unravel the mystery of their dreams.

Yea you read the title right. The ’90s idol pop artist Seo Taeji will return in March with his 8th album. But he will first release a 15th anniversary debut album, which will include news songs, on Nov. 29 and reunite with fans after four years.

It looks like actress Chu Sang-mi will tie the knot with musical actor Lee Seok-jun on Nov. 5.
The two met when they appeared together in a musical in 2003.
The wedding will be held behind closed doors by the wedding agency Lael Wedding owned by comedian Park Su-hong.
After the wedding ceremony, Chu and Lee will leave for Albion Resort in Africa.
