UFC 83: Travis "Sleestak" Lutter vs Rich "Ace" Franklin Betting Odds
2008-03-20 16:01:11
Sleetaks were never very scary, but somehow we all knew that if they did manage to get their bizarre oven mitts on someone they would be in trouble.Lutter's "Sleestak Attack" has worked surprisingly well on some very athletic opponents and he's looking to employee it again with Franklin .Franklin has great takedown and BJJ defense and it's likely he's counting on his strength to keep it on his feet as much as possible. As always the question is who can impose their gameplan. Here are my probabilities for for outcomes in this fight:Decision: 35% chance of happening, Franklin wins this outcome 65 % of the time.Generally Franklin's strength and ground defense should allow him to display his more aggressive style and standup, which the judges seem to prefer. Make no mistake though if the Sleesta

Strikeforce: Cung Le vs Frank Shamrock Betting Odds
2008-03-27 12:47:45
This is the most serious opponent Shamrock has seen in since Tito Ortiz in 1999. Strikeforce gave Shamrock a window for his big comeback to MMA in 2006 and he's been handed some pretty easy competition in his three fights back. His one loss in those three fights was due to an illegal knee, but up until that he looked pretty good...lol...not! Baroni was a test of his chin and patience but that's about it. Shamrock has great cardio so pace is not going to be his problem. His problem will be avoiding a mule kicking the shit out of him.Cung Le is new to MMA...kind of. Record wise he's 5-0 and two years into his new career, but previously he fought in San Shou and compiled a 17-0 record with 12 KO's. He also trained with Shamrock in the past and according to Josh “The Punk” Thompson, Cung

Ultimate Fight Night 13 Betting Odds
2008-04-01 03:12:04
The books were a little slow on releasing their numbers, but there are some interesting opportunities in this unbelievably packed fight card. Not to gloat but I will be in Colorado to enjoy this one live. Which means I'm Heading out in 8 hours so I'm going with a very reduced analysis. I'm only going to cover the fights I'm betting on, besides I doubt any of you want to read about 12!! different match ups.I'm going to run through how I come up with my own probabilities for fights to decide if there is value in each bet. It's definitely tough to pick the strongest bet on this card. There are obviously some lopsided match ups, but of course the odds on those are -600 to -800, not what I'm looking for. I've picked three fights to bet on, but there are many options just do your research and sh

UFC 83 Betting Odds
2008-04-18 18:44:40
Hi Fight fans, I'm afraid the Desert Dog is going to miss this UFC event and will be unable to provide his match ups. DD did mention he liked bets on Starnes and Lutter as underdogs and that the rest of the favorites should win. As far as what bets to actually place you'll have to be on your own.Enjoy the fights ......... You wanna make a bet....

UFC 84 Sean Sherk vs BJ Penn Betting Odds and Analysis
2008-05-05 18:57:13
BJ Penn is the shit, really! and Sean Sherk....well in my opinion he isn't! The matchup definitely makes this fight. BJ has accumulated a retarded amount of skill and now he's decided to start training some of that cardio stuff. BJ Penn in shape has more options to win a fight than any one else in the game (maybe Silva) it's that simple. At 155 BJ has a size advantage and in terms of leverage and mobility a strength advantage as well in this fight, You may think whatever, but whatch his fights with muscle strong guys like Steveson and Hughes and even back in the day against Machida and you'll see how much of an advatage he can have.Picure Sherk's last fight...I know that's a long time, but can you really picture Sherk wrestling BJ down and maintianing his lay'n'pray for 5 rounds??? Because

Fight Break Downs:Lyoto Machida (-200 BetUS) vs. Tito Ortiz (+180 Bodog) Machida may not have an endless KO highlight reel but while training out of the Black House with Anderson Silva and A. Nogueira he has developed his own unique and undefeated style. He has combined his karate background with Muay Thai, wrestling, and Jiu Jitsu techniques (starting at 15) into a calm counter fighting style. Th

Sportsbook Updates
2008-06-27 08:32:50
I'm back from beyond and sporting a new injury (broken arm), but if I take my time I can peck away at the keyboard with my left hand and I can sure as hell place bets! I want to mention a couple of nice changes at two of the sportsbooks I use.First, Bodog has put a new payout method to use which lets you load winnings onto a debit card that you can use at a cash machine or store, very similar to t

James Irvin "I'll beat Silva in the clinch"....Shut the fuck up!
2008-07-08 21:59:15
James is making a big splash in the name game right now setting his sights on one of the best all around fighters on earth right now. I believe Irvin has a shot, he's very strong athletic and well rounded and has bricks for hands...But, "I'll beat Silva in the clinch"??? why even say it?Possibly the strongest 185 pounder, Rich Franklin, felt the clinch was his world too, by the way he's heading to

2008-07-30 19:10:59
Prove it....Brock Lesnar is a beast, a monster, hell on wheels, and bound to be the top heavy weight in the UFC...Prove it!No one will deny Lesnar his wrestiling history or is physical stature, but in terms of being a 2 to 1 favorite against any seasoned UFC fighter, there's no ryhme or reason. He's very new to the sport and with his first fight ending so quickly he's really untested. What does he

Georges St Pierre vs Jon Fitch Betting Odds and Analysis
2008-07-29 11:14:06
This one is for real fight fans. St Pierre is seen by most as the superior 170 lb fighter in the world but he has yet to face a fighter with a similar combination of skills and size. Jon Fitch has shown he can use a full tool bag to put away a wide array of fighters and now he's facing the ultimate test of his chess match fighting style at UFC 87.Georges St Pierre is again looking to make his firs

Desert Dog back tips and “Smart Bets” for Affliction 1: “Banned” this Saturday, July 9, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The first thing that struck me about this card is how many big name heavyweights it holds. Roger Huerta vs Kenny Florian Betting Odds and Analysis
2008-08-05 19:37:05
This is a classic match up that has potential for fight of the night. Both fighters are very aggressive, comfortable on the ground or feet, and work relentlessly for the finish. Technical vs Tenacious...I see a big finish in the making.Kenny Florian has been a great example of fighter evolution. So much about his game and even his physical condition has changed since he first showed up on Ultimate

Fighters By the Books Carlos Condit - Miura's power and striking will be overwhelmed by Condit's speed and technical skill. UFC 88 Betting Odds: Rousimar Palhares vs Dan Henderson
2008-08-31 11:55:12
Rousimar Palhares(+180) vs Dan Henderson (-200)I preferred Palhares at +200 but he's still a decent dog bet for this event. He's not going to knock Dan out or win on the feet, but his striking isn't pitiful and his ability to finish fights with submissions is undeniable. Dan's got a few more options to win but, both fighters are finishers and the odds are off due to "Toquinho" being almost complet

UFC 88 Betting Odds: Chuck Liddell vs Rashad Evans
2008-08-29 23:02:13
Chuck Liddell (-260) vs Rashad Evans (+225)Best odds on this fight are currently found at BetUS for Liddell and Bookmaker for Evans. At -260 the books say Liddell should win this fight about 72% of the time. Looking at past fights and how these two match up on paper I don't see many probable outcomes with Evans getting the win.Liddell holds a solid advantage on the feet. Although Evans is fast and
