Metropolitan Administration (BMA) today starts a three-day celebration of the new Giant Swing at the plaza in front of the Bangkok City Hall.Their Majesties the King and Queen will preside over the inaugural ceremony of Bangkok’s rejuvenated Giant Swing on Wednesday.The Giant Swing has undergone several renovations since it was built in 1782, two years after Bangkok was founded as the capital of Thailand. The latest restoration which began four years ago turned to be a complete facelift after the BMA found its condition was beyond repair.Six gold teak trees, each taller than 20 metres, were brought from three forest reserves in the northern province of Phrae in May last year. The tree trunks were processed by a company in Ayutthaya.
