That's It? 2007-11-07 10:45:00 So apparently my new favorite soap opera is over before it even started. The little romeo Patrick Moberg found the girl of his dreams. He says that a friend of hers saw the site and they set up a date....but from here on out there will be no more updates for privacy's sake....WTF? Privacy? You alerted the nation to the fact you got a "semi" seeing some chick on a NYC subway. Privacy is gone. So what? Now the domain of NYGIRLOFMYDREAMS is gonna show that crappy stick figure for 359 more days? That's balls. This has been more disappointing than Julia Louis Dreyfus' 'Watching Ellie'. Damn Patrick for letting me down! I curse their date! May their chicken be dry, may the lighting be harsh, and may the guy seated right behind the 'girl of his dreams' keep backing his chair into hers cause he has a tiny bladder! I hope the girl of his dreams has a smokers laugh and a teeny weenie.
And the Obsession Starts 2007-11-06 14:22:00 .Patrick Moberg (the boy behind this site) has recently posted a video.I'm starting to become obsessed with his journey. I hope he posts more. He's apparently being interviewed by CNN tomorrow. Slow news day, much? Read more:Obsession
Leaving on the Midnight Train....Woo-Woo! 2007-11-05 17:08:00 As many of you know, I love reading Craigslist's Missed Connections.A #1: because it's funny.B #2: because secretly you're hoping someone will write one for you.C #3: because deep in your heart you know the people posting them will never really get a response....which is kind of sad....but also like A #1: Funny.Well an eager young lad spotted love on the 5 train last night and decided to purchase the URL of nygirlofmydreams.com in hopes that he will some how find his rosy-cheeked-squared-boobed maiden. This could be going for a year since he did purchase the domain name. I'm hoping he'll keep falling in love and putting up more drawings. He even has the balls to put up his email and cell phone number. Biiiiiig mistake. You'll wind up screening 5,000 calls from some leather daddy named Butch while hoping each next call could be the person of your dreams........or so I've heard.......... Read more:Leaving

Weekly Kabbalah Tune Up 2007-11-04 13:44:00 As students of spirituality, we are constantly reminded to examine our thoughts and actions in order to root out what Kabbalists call the desire to receive for the self alone. So, many of us look at our positive actions and conclude, "I am good, but I'll never be as righteous as the people I hear about in the Zohar and the other ancient texts." And we look at our negative actions and think, "I'm not as bad as others." The result is we fall into this grey zone of spiritual mediocrity - almost good, almost bad, but in truth, we're neither. When you think about it on a superficial level, this sounds like a good place to be. However, if an angel came down now and showed us our true greatness, we'd understand how much more we are capable of achieving. Conversely, if we were shown how thoroughly steeped in the desire to receive for the self alone we are, we'd want to stop and change immediately. The message here is that this needs to be our greatest fear - a person that is all positiv Read more:Weekly

Water Cooler Moment: Brothers & Sisters 2007-11-12 12:13:00 "36 Hours" - The Walker family pulls together for better or worse when Justin reaches a critical new low point with his addiction, while Kitty and Robert move toward their future together with a renewed perspective. So the big intervention happened last night. We all saw it coming from the episode where Nora shoved the pain killers in her addict son's face. I wouldn't put all the blame on her...it's a parents reaction to want to help their child in pain...but, as was demonstrated last night, Nora has spent too much time "baby-ing" Justin and as a result of the intervention she finally woke up to the fake that he needs to grow up.Kitty and Robert's story line is shaky to me. I'm not sure when he's going to tell Kitty he just promised his little girl that they wouldn't be trying for another baby in a really long time. Then Kitty wants to up the wedding date and start popping out babies (as we see for the next episode...in two weeks). I still say the relationship is doomed...even di Read more:Moment

Hey Steve, How Many Crew Members Does Your Show Have Now? 2007-11-12 11:22:00 One of The Office's key grips, Dale Alexander wrote an email to the LA Times in response to NBC firing 102 crew workers as a result of the writers going on strike.“Our show was shut down and we were all laid off this week. I’ve been watching the news since the WGA strike was announced and I have yet to see any coverage dedicated to the effect that this strike will have on the below the line employees.“I respect the WGA’s position. They probably do deserve a larger percentage of profit participation, but a lengthy strike will affect more than just the writers and studios. On my show we had 14 writers. There were also 2 cameramen, 2 camera assistants, 4 hair stylists, 4 makeup artists, 7 wardrobe people, 4 grips, 4 electricians, 2 craft service, 4 props people, 6 construction, 1 medic, 3 art department, 5 set dressers, 3 sound men, 3 stand-ins, 2 set PAs, 4 assistant directors, 1 DGA trainee, 1 unit manager, 6 production office personnel, 3 casting people, 4 writers assistants, Read more:Steve

Weekly Kabbalah Tune Up 2007-11-11 14:44:00 This is the week in which we first hear of the famous Biblical story of Jacob's ladder. As the story goes, Jacob is traveling in the desert to meet up with his brother Esau. Along the way Jacob stops to sleep, and he dreams of a ladder with angels going up and down. We can look at this as a nice, mythical story, or we can draw lessons for our own life. The Zohar teaches us that during sleep a part of our soul detaches from our body and travels back to its source, an eternal realm beyond time, space, and motion. Our soul communicates with us from this place, sending us messages about what we need to change, dangerous situations to avoid, methods for removing our fears, opportunities coming our way - everything.During the waking state we're usually oblivious to the messages the Light is sending us, but in the dream state we can't escape ourselves. We step outside and take one big look at our lives - where we've been, where we are, and where we're headed. That's why kabbalists do Read more:Weekly

Generic McPlain Wrap 2007-11-09 11:15:00 Patrick on GMA from Justin Ouellette on Vimeo. My god Patrick Moberg has swept the nation. Here he is on GMA. Does he ever change clothes? I understand wanting to look like his drawing so the "braided goddess" remembers what he looks like....but they found each other! Jesus....sort through your Filene's Basement wardrobe and put something else on.She's homeless and he only owns one pair of clothes. They deserve each other. They make me sick. God I love them. I want everyone else in the city to do what Patrick did. He took Craigslist to the next level. I want all those guys who saw some hot chick or dude who may or may not have been looking at them...but you're hoping they were...and they were probably only looking at you cause you kept staring at them like a diabetic at Baskin Robbins....to make your own "NY:blank:ofmydreams" website. Early Winter 2007-11-15 16:28:00 Above is the new video for Gwen's new (last?) single, 'Early
Winter'. I love, love, love this song. One of the few gems from the b-side album, The Sweet Escape. It's incredibly dramatic and beautiful. I think Gwen is simply stunning in every video she does. It reminds me a bit of her 'Cool' video, no? Anyway, check it out. Soon she'll be off to No Doubt to pick up where they left off. I can't wait!
Water Cooler Moment: Project Runway 2007-11-15 14:31:00 Soooo...last night was the long awaited season premiere of ProjectRunway
and I ate up every little second of it. I missed Heidi and Tim...but above all...I missed Nina Garcia.Let me just say one thing. I am not a violent person....but given the chance, I would kick the crap out of Christian. The 21 year-old walking stereotype pisses me off just by looking at him. "Oh...whatever, I like went to London and studied with McQueen and Westwood...and I like...jerk off to the idea of me designing clothes causes I'm so much better than everyone else here". And his design? Hello 'crapped out Burberry reject'. I hated it. It made the girl look like a hideous birthday present. The East Village is full of his kind. The 'my shit don't stink' 20-something-year-olds who sip Amstel Lights and discuss Fiona Apple.....sorry.....just puts me in a rage.Anyway. My favorites of the season are Chris, whom I have nicknamed "Phatty". I love him. He designs clothes for drag queens....and since he's so ov Read more:Moment

Happy Hump Day 2007-11-14 11:42:00 Another one is upon us. It's been a slow entry week on my end. I just haven't really reacted to much of late. Maybe it's because of the WGA strike....the news has just been too slow...but maybe that's a good thing. Not much happening this weekend....and not much happened last weekend. I tried to go to Therapy with Ruben on Saturday, but there was some kind of birthday shin dig happening...so that huge crowd piled on top of the usual crowd...I just couldn't take it so we left after one drink. I get claustrophobic sometimes....when I can't budge an inch...I start to panic. So we opted to go to the Crescent Lounge in Astoria.....that I was under the impression it was a gay bar. When we got there though, it was filled with a high level of straight male testosterone (which is unusual in the heavily metrosexual Astoria)...so we stayed for yet another 'one drink' and then left. Is it gay? Or is it just a "friendly" bar. Where are the gay bars in Astoria? I like going to Rapture on 28th Read more:Happy
Easy Come, Easy Go 2007-11-14 11:22:00 While reading Dlisted, I found that Matt Damon had been named People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive 2007....I wasn't too surprised by the fact...I remember last year when George Clooney won (for the second time) that he had mentioned Damon's desire for the title. Theeeeeen I look over at Celebitchy to find that he actually has turned down the title. "But when the actor learned he had won the title, he wrote the publication a letter turning it down. The magazine’s Ericka Souter explained: “He wrote People a ‘fabulous’ letter explaining that he doesn’t normally talk about his personal life.” She said he was blushing when he found out. Damon wrote: “You just gave an aging suburban dad ego boost of a lifetime.” The magazine said it chose married dad-of-one Damon, 37, for his “irresistible sense of humour,” “his dedication to his family”, and his “heart-melting humility.” Damon gave People permission to reprint the letter, featured in the new i
Daaaan, A Lesbian Kissed Me; Can She Move Into The Basement? 2007-11-21 11:07:00 You know I love me some Roseanne (even own most of the series on dvd...will be getting the final two dvds for Christmas), but this is ridiculous. If you decide to "friend" Roseanne on Myspace, these are the bulletins you will find flooding the board. I'm all for people having their opinion. And I'm all for a female version of Michael Moore....but if she's really trying to spread the news about our president elects, then she's going to have to give us actual proof. "Screaming" this information at people is like trying to teach a monkey, the comedy stylings of Paula Poundstone. It wont get through to them. Also, people who think that by "being loud" makes you more right, pisses me off too. Typing in all caps really grinds my gears. My eighth grade English teacher taught me that that should be read screaming (also applies to people's misunderstanding of how to use the exclamation point). Happy Hump Day! 2007-11-21 10:29:00 Ok. so......Thanksgiving anyone? I'm just glad we get a mini vacation. This 3 day work week has been heaven in Hush Puppies. I will be going with Carol to a co-worker's Thanksgiving party/dinner. Tonight, I will be tuning in for episode dos of the new season of Project Runway. I can't wait!Of course, let's not forget that after Thursday, all Hell will break loose with the start of the Christmas shopping season. I for one, will most likely do my shopping online...seeing as how last year, when I tried to do it in the city, I almost ripped eye balls out dealing with alllll the tourists that flood the major shopping areas. Goodbye 34th Street. I'll see you in spring thaw. I do work in Soho, but fortunately I arrive and leave work around "low tourist traffic" times.Today's Hump Day treat is brought to you by Queerty.com. Mom Series #2 2007-11-20 11:04:00 Entry two: A Dog's Purpose (From a 6-year-old)Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes
Mom Series #1 2007-11-20 10:54:00 My mother was an elementary school teacher. God bless her. I don't think I have the strength to put up with the kids and parents that she did. As a teacher of children, though, you and your fellow co-workers fall into a certain group of "forwarders" of emails of 'cute stories' and 'even cuter pictures'. Since my mother has decided to share these things with me, I thought I'd pay it forward and share it all with you too. Maybe you'll think it's stupid. Maybe you'll think it's cute. Or maybe you'll be like me...roll your eyes...but secretly find it somewhat entertaining. I will be dubbing said posts as part of the Mom series.Entry one: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Weekly Kabbalah Tune Up 2007-11-18 11:48:00 Imagine two pipes transporting water from point A to point B. The first pipe is clogged with all sorts of junk, causing the water to dribble out. The second pipe is clear and free, allowing the water to flow infinitely. This simple metaphor explains what happens when we hold on too tightly to how we think people, situations, and ourselves “should” be. When we are control junkies, micromanaging every little detail, unable to open to another view of things, we block the flow of Light into our lives. So here is where I tell you to open up and let the Light in. But don’t confuse this with “let go, let God”, because that’s not entirely how it works. God, the Light, the Creator, Jesus, Allah, or however you connect to the source of all good, is not going to hand you everything on a silver platter. You still need to work your butt off in this life. But the more you remind yourself, “I don’t see the bigger picture,” the more divine assistance you will receive.I had a student a Read more:Weekly

Happy Hump Day! 2007-11-28 09:55:00 Things are chugging along fine. Thanksgiving was a lot of fun. I went with a friend to her boss's apartment down town and we spent hours eating, drinking, and playing Wii. The rest of the four day weekend was very chill and very much needed. Although a couple days before Thanksgiving, I started receiving emails from my sister about Christmas gifts; for me, for her, for other relatives, for what we should go in together on....and it hasn't stopped. I get like 15 emails a day from her and I think I may be clinically insane by December 1st. It's ok...I will trudge through this and maybe actually be done with most holiday shopping before it gets too crazy (especially in the city).I just found out that my roommate is going to have to move due to financial problems, so I must once again resort to setting up the ol' craigslist interviews. I'm not really looking forward to it, but I will make this round of interviews short and painless. I remember when I first started looking for a roomma Read more:Happy
Do Shut Up! 2007-11-27 14:37:00 "Madonna has outraged animal rights groups by dyeing her pet sheep different colors for a photo shoot. The 'Hung Up' singer and her director husband Guy Ritchie have been branded "irresponsible" after coloring their sheep blue, pink, yellow and green for a Vogue spread at their English country estate, in Wiltshire.A spokesman for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) said: "Why is it necessary and what are they trying to prove? It is an irresponsible publicity stunt."The couple say the shoot - which will feature in new book 'Vogue Living: House, Gardens, People' - was staged in homage to legendary photographer Cecil Beaton. The noted portrait photographer lived on the $18 million Ashcombe Estate during the 30s and 40s.Madonna, 49, and Guy, 39, also insisted the dye used was temporary and did not harm the animals. However, the RSPCA do not accept their reasoning, and are adamant the stunt could lead to dangerous copycat incidents. The source added: "We woul

Movie Review: The Mist 2007-11-25 21:13:00 Over the weekend, Ruben and I trekked to the AMC theater on 42nd and caught the new Stephen King film, The Mist."A powerful thunderstorm unleashes a mist that envelops a small Maine town. Dozens are trapped inside a supermarket knowing that in the mist are horrible creatures which feed on humans. Being stranded takes its psychological toll. The trapped shoppers split into 2 camps: those who believe it is an act of a vengeful god who demands human sacrifice and those don't. Based on a rather long short story by Stephen King, long considered one of his scariest." [Source]Overall, I liked the movie a lot. Being familiar with the great works of Stephen King's past, you hold certain expectations for a film of his (so often made into crappy made-for-tv movies), and this one actually delivered. Being a fan of the isolationist-horror-suspense films, this one surely satisfied....especially when you lock up a large group of people in a building surrounded by monsters they can't see. Weekly Kabbalah Tune Up 2007-11-25 14:23:00 Nature calls it animal instinct. Kabbalah
calls it desire to receive for the self alone. Whatever you call it, we all know it, those moments when the beast inside takes over and we can’t control ourselves. You might remember what it was like growing up, when kids were trying drugs or drinking and you had this one voice that said, “Get out now!” and another that said, “Stay!” We still struggle with these voices. The Biblical character Joseph certainly knew about these competing voices. This week the Zohar tells us of an epic struggle he had overcoming his sexual desires. The story takes place after his jealous brothers sold him into slavery. Potiphar, a captain of the Pharaoh's guard, bought Joseph to serve as his slave, and upon realizing his talents, Potiphar quickly made Joseph overseer of the household.Potiphar wasn’t the only one who noticed Joseph’s greatness. Water Cooler Moment: Project Runway 2007-11-23 11:24:00 Overall I was really satisfied with the second episode of the season. The challenge was nothing terribly exciting...the standard "design an outfit in a team and it will be reproduced for a certain fashion company"....only this time it was for Sarah Jessica Parker's clothing line. I really liked Rami and Jillian's purple/magenta dress with the sick black belt. Kit and Chris's outfit was really....plain....I was kind of let down that Chris wasn't part of some gorgeous outfit...but also...SJP's line is supposed to be affordable..so I guess they did what they should've. Marion and Steven's outfit was hideous. It looked like they took a potato sack and put the model's head through a hole in the bottom. I once again, did not like Christian's outfit. The jacket was waaaay off the mark for me....and he needs to cut that east village lesbian haircut.I love the show and will continue to watch it...but it's become almost completely predictable in it's eliminations. Weekly Kabbalah Tune Up 2007-12-02 10:24:00 One of The Kabbalah
Centre's teachers shared with me this week the following quandary:Let's say you've really been going against your nature in a particular area of life: Restriction, self-control, whatever you want to call it. And then, let's say, you lose control, short-circuit, give in to your selfish desires. How far back do you fall? Back to the beginning of when you started restricting? Or just a little ways back? It’s a great question. And the answer lies in another kabbalistic saying:greater than the 'sin' itself is the sin of guilt. When a person makes a mistake in judgment - hurts, cheats, lies, steals, etc - the negative action takes but a few seconds or minutes. The guilt however, the self-deprication and bad memories can last a lifetime. And while it’s vital to the correction process to feel pain about our misdeeds, it is just as vital that we move on. Otherwise it’s like days, weeks, months or years of disconnect. This week, use the energy of Chanukah (the holida Read more:Weekly
