Lets Dance 2007-10-23 23:20:57 Argh, I’m a bit late in posting this but mom is using that silly “work” excuse again (I don’t see her much during the daytime these days, but s-t-i-l-l…)…
Yep it was Sunday, so that means it’s DALE DAY!
We started the festivities out with a trip to Good Microbrew with my best buddy Mareike - she of the many falling pieces of cheeseburger (no vegetables please!) and my many attempts to get some of dad’s frosty beer.
Thanks for the burger Mareike!!!
Then it was time to walk over and spend a few hours with my buddies Jupie, Robin and Kermit… especially Kermit. As you may recall, he’s my ever-accomodating hump buddy who lets me get my freak on and never judges me.
Spot the troublemaker!!!

Airedale Cafe 2007-10-26 23:33:03 While there are still fires all around SoCal, in the area that I live it’s just really, really smoky. Lots of what looks like fog but it pretty disgusting to breathe in. We wanted to go out today for a nice long walky but wound up doing a short one through Pasadena.
Of course the first stop is the Lovebirds Cafe - a prime Aire-dmiration spot indeed. Look at the silliness I was forced to endure - our order was number 55 so dad put the table tag on my collar and I walked around this way, all while the humans were giggling. Ha ha, that’s soooo funny…
On our way home we got stuck in some nasty traffic as they’re ripping up Arroyo Parkway… so we swung into Petco (my vote) to pick up some of that tasty Deli Fresh roll.
Since I got those free ones I’ve been hooked - I like to have a slice for breakfast. We needed more so off we went through the store.
Here’s the refrigerated case where the most-excellent Deli Fresh rolls are kept. Notice how I
It’s Mom’s Birthday! 2007-11-02 18:37:06 Oh my gosh, this could have been SOOOOO BAD…
Mom woke up this morning and we didn’t have any cat food in the house. Now those of you who don’t have kitties may not understand what this means, and the terror that could ensue.
My cat buddies are SERIOUS about their morning can. They’ve just gotta have it, and if there is nothing in the house well then mom better run down to the store IMMEDIATELY to rectify the situation. This has happened in the past, and I agree with mom that it’s best to just get the kitties what they want and no one will get hurt.
But then she had a revelation, one that literally saved the day.
The last time that dad was in Austria, he brought back two packets of Austrian cat food for the kitties… and we still had ‘em!!!
Kafka (the orange tabby) and Behemoth (the grey and white spotted guy) inspected the packages for quality control. Kafka is the biggest cat, so it was important that he gave his OK.

Happy Howl-o-Ween! 2007-10-31 23:42:59 Hope you all have a great holiday - no costume for me this year (dad says I’ll be embarrassed, mom keeps trying to figure out ways to make it work, I just say that I’m in POODLE costume), but this is an awfully fun photo that mom found today:
This is definitely one to click on to make full-size - pretty darned creative.

RIP Heidi 2007-10-31 00:10:26
Today Heidi
- my best Boxer friend and pawsonal trainer - went to the great pawsonal training facility in the sky. We’re all very sad - she was only 2 years old - but happy that she’s not in pain and that she didn’t suffer for a long time with the cancer.
So if ya see a new Boxer-shaped star in the sky tonight, say hi to Heidi for me.

Doin’ Pasadena 2007-11-04 11:36:46
We spent a little time in Pasadena
today - wandering around, hitting the parks, cruising down Colorado.
I read the plaque and took in a little history…
I’m still not always perfect in walking around large objects without getting the leash caught at times…
Performing at the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts…
And then there was this super-cool car that I just had to check out…
Low key, fun. lots of Aire-dmiration - good times…

Freedom 2007-11-12 00:47:40 More Dale fun to be had over at Mareike’s… apparently there were people doing yard work and — imagine this — someone was afraid of us Dales so we had to stay inside. How can anyone be afraid of us with our fuzzy beards and teddy bear looks? I was confused. I mean, I like it when the coyotes are afraid of me, and when people that I don’t like are afraid of me, but random strangers? How odd.

Lunch at Lovebirds 2007-11-12 19:45:41
(mom thinks I look like Stanley here - I’m flattered by the comparison!)
It was a lovely day outside today so we piled into the Bogiemobile (the black Beetle, not the yellow Ferrari that I’m still hoping is mine…) and drove to Pasadena. Yup, we go there a LOT because it’s one of the few places in Los Angeles that we can walk, see stuff, and of course, have lunch al fresco with yours truly.
We stopped at Lovebirds Cafe for a bite - always fun as there seems to be a never-ending lineup of people interested in knowing what breed of dog I am and wanting to touch my head. Yes, I’m as wiry as I look apparently.
Then we needed a short walk - for digestion purposes of the humans, and to burn off some excess Aire-nergy.
There was some art that we stopped to look at - I was intrigued for a moment (more than usual) but then I was back to sniffing trees.
On the drive home mom was taking pictures of me over her shoulder - I like to stick my head Read more:Lunch
Holding a Good Woman Down 2007-11-12 01:24:59
We had an awful lot of fun at Mareike’s - especially mom. At one point Kermit (he’s the one-eyed guy) was licking mom’s face and she was giggling. I thought that was really funny so I joined in. I was actually holding her down for more face licking because I was standing on her hair (other doggies take note - this is a particularly effective method for keeping a human down where you wan them). Then Robin joined in. I think Jupie was trying to get in there too but there was only so much room, and since mom was laughing so hard it was even more fun than it looks…
She looks like she really hates this, right? Such torture…

Hairecut 2007-11-18 22:56:53
Today mom tried to get some good pictures of my new Hairecut…
(see her evil arm in the shadow, withholding a big, juicy stick until I smile for the camera?)
I feel much sleeker and I think I lost a pound of fuzz. Mom and dad take turns pulling out my hair with a rake - it doesn’t hurt but after awhile I get kind of annoyed. But then again I do think I look pretty good, and I have to always remember that every girl crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man…
I really like to play with my leather leash. I like to hold the loop in my mouth and use it to “direct” mom to the places I want to go. Works pretty darned well. Today I managed to get her to go into Petco…
I perused the aisles while she grabbed another one of those Deli Fresh rolls for me. A nice big fat one… yummy yummy yum.
I checked out some new furniture for the kitties - this would be awfully fun and they’d like it mom - I could play with them too as they scamp
Helping Dad 2007-11-17 23:33:45 All this week I’ve been helping dad - over at Mareike’s. He’s been doing some gardening, and I’ve been helping. Of course I get to hang out with my 3 favorite Dales so it really doesn’t get any better for me than this.
Basically this means that while I’ve been having a really good time, since dad was in charge there are no photos of all of this Aire-fun. We’ve been out walking 4 Dales at a time (the response to this is particularly great as people stop what they’re doing, slow down their cars, and pull out their cell phones to take pictures), got kicked out of a dog-free flea market (honestly, how can this be possible here in California that dogs aren’t allowed at all of the flea markets?), had some burgers at the Good Microbrew. I’ve helped dad to corral the many sticks that were scattered all over the garden, and peed on his new bucket (well, I think this is important…).

Stump on… Stumps 2007-11-25 22:26:28
This is a stump.
This is one of the men who climbed the tree in the back yard of Mareike’s house with a large knife.
See my stump? My fuzzy stump, that is. I’m relaxing for a moment while all of the hub-bub is happening around me.
Ah… a little more stump-age now. I’m waking up and realizing that dad may need my help…
Oh well guess not. I’ve been banished to the inside to “relax”. Maybe that’s not such a bad idea…

Cone for Kirby 2007-11-24 17:23:09
Hey Kirby
, I know you said that you’ve never seen pine cones as big as the ones I have so I thought I’d pick one out for ya…
I looked everywhere around my morning walkie place (that’s the BEST place to find the gigantic cones, and those are the most fun)…
And then I found THIS ONE
I protected it from interlopers…
And tasted it for quality control. Kirby my man, it’s waiting here in my house with your name on it if you want it.

Snow in LA? 2007-11-23 20:11:47
I was dumbfounded. What is this wet white stuff that is all over the street in Pasadena today? It’s wet, kind of slippery, and well just weird.
It was SNOW. And REINDEER. Yes, REAL LIVE REINDEER.
Mom pushed away the screaming children so that I could get a good look - and sniff. Very interesting… and I definitely could get into that snow thing if we ever had any real snow (mom and I saw them pumping it out of a machine… LA is such a weird place)…

Ah… Thanksgiving 2007-11-23 00:12:06 Thanksgiving was nice and easy this year. The humans didn’t have anyone over, we didn’t go anywhere, and there was no major cooking done. I had my regular Bogie-stew (I’m not really into turkey) but the kitties got a special bag of their favorite treats in turkey flavor to celebrate…
That’s Behemoth, he’s my best buddy…
Then it was time to snuggle with dad. This was an unremarkable Thanksgiving but a nice one as I got to spend it with all of the warm and furry things that I love. Hope yours was great too!

I’m thankful for my own kitties who teach me how things are done…
I’m thankful for Dogs With Blogs for bringing us all together…
Oh, and I’m thankful for Mom and Dad - just cause they’re c-o-o-l…

Kirby’s Kone 2007-11-30 16:45:45 FINALLY… mom and I packed up the special pine cone for my buddy Kirby
today…
I had to help to make sure it was packed just right… and to give it one last lick for quality control. Kirby my friend, the cone is on it’s way - no dog should be without a giant pine cone!!!
After we delivered it to the post office, we took a little walk in the park. It’s RAINING here today, and while I used to not really like the rain so much today I’m Lovin’ It. It’s like it’s finally dawned on me that I can shake off all of the rain on my back (thanks to my Aire-fuzz) so that I can run more! And I didn’t even lose the tennis ball that you see me modelling here…
Lots of new green grass here soon - and we really really need the rain here!

Every Dog’s Dream 2007-12-08 00:07:20
Hey dad, whatcha doin’? OH MY DOG…
Outside in the garden at Mareike’s house the Dales rule and now we have our very own fountain… and yes, it’s a REAL TOILET.
What’s better than drinking nice, fresh moving water from a toilet? Very little. While I have a Drinkwell fountain at home, I do admit to indulging in a little eau de toilet from time to time.
The toilet is really perfectly placed in the garden - near the hammock and in what will soon be the main entertaining area - where the humans will barbecue and enjoy their food and beverages, and now the Dales can too…
I had to be the first to try it out and I must say that once you realize that it’s YOUR toilet even though it’s not inside - it’s incredibly cool. Dad hooked up a pump so that the water keeps moving around - which as any dog knows, is really the key to the whole drinking-out-of-the-toilet-thing anyway.
That’s a happy, wet, refreshed beard.

Twins? 2007-12-03 01:22:58 Well by now you’ve all seen my 3 Aire-buddies - Jupie, Kermit & Robin - as we frolic in Mareike’s great backyard. Today was gonna be different.
Mom was excited. I had no idea why. I just sat in the back of the Bogie-mobile making sure that she made the correct turns to get us over to Mareike’s house. I do this on a regular basis because she takes me soooo many places, and whenever I see us heading in Mareike’s general direction I do my very best to make sure that she knows where I wanna go…
We arrived easily (no nose to the neck necessary) at Mareike’s house and I ran up the stairs. The Aire greeting was fun and overwhelming as always, but I noticed that Mareike’s dales had collars on - and they don’t usually wear collars. Hm, something was up. Then I noticed that their leashes were on the kitchen counter. Collars + leashes can mean only one thing…
We’re goin’ for a walk! A big, ol’ 4-D Read more:Twins
Under Construction 2007-12-15 18:25:06 Â Pardon my dust…

The Three Wise Dales 2007-12-15 11:49:41
Ok, I’m thinking that this is the BEST Christmas-themed dog picture I’ve ever seen… and mom is wondering how the hell their mom and/or dad was able to set up the hay , get the baby in the “manger”, put in the wrapped gifts, get the headgear just right - and get a GOOD picture!!!!
It says - “When the three wise dales arrived bearing gifts they found the puppy & the glory of the Lord shone all around. The wise dales knew that this truly was the King of the Terriers” THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!
It’s from the Leuradales - Noah, Willow, Lucy and Tess of Noah’s Bark - thank you guys SO MUCH for the cool card, and mom really wants to know your secret!

Xmas Cards 2007-12-13 23:22:31
I wasn’t expecting any Christmas cards this year because mom said that she just couldn’t do it this time around (not that she didn’t want to - it was killing her not to participate this time! - but she just couldn’t make it happen)… but this week I got some! I have such cooooooool friends, you all are THE BEST and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy whenever I think about my buddies around the world.
The first one was from Charlie and Opy - isn’t this a great picture of them? I was trying to get closer to admire the composition and the portraiture… before mom thwarted my attempt. Ok, I was thinking destruction, but m-o-o-o-m…
You two make such a cool team - sending big Aire Kisses across the ocean to my pals!!!
Then I got one from my Aire buddies, Maggie & Mitch!!! You guys are so super cool, I LOVE the photo of the two of you! I could swear that I smelled you guys on the card, and I thought a little nibble on a corner Read more:Cards

The Light Festival 2007-12-24 21:53:21
Tonight mom, dad, and I took a walk through Griffith Park to see the DWP Light Festival
A little tough to read, but it clearly says NO ANIMALS. To that I say….. harumph!
So we walked right on through. I AM NOT AN ANIMAL, I AM AN AIREDALE!!!
The lights are cool but the music is cheesy and a little too loud for my taste. And it was really windy which made it kind of cold and lots of dust was blowing in my face. But there were lots of folks driving by (most people drive through it rather than walk, and mom and I have driven through it in past years) and admiring me so that helped.
Â
This car full of Santa’s clearly got the Airedale Admiration memo. I’m gonna have to remember that for next time, riding in a convertible would be the BEST way to do the festival!
Have a FANTASTIC Christmas everyone!!!
Big Aire Kisses,
Bogart
Gooberstan and Kirbytown 2007-12-24 15:06:09 I didn’t know they were delivering mail today… usually at our house the delivery man isn’t that keen to bring up packages, put mail into the right slot, and other assorted aspects of his job. But today I got 2 cards (that look suspiciously like they should have arrived awhile ago…).
From Stanley & Stella, and Kirby!
Thanks guys, these are awfully cool cards (and ya both look so darned handsome!)
Mom asked how it felt to be getting cards from my buddies and I made this face - I guess that says it all!

Bogart
